Director: Scott Mann
Star Cast: Robert De Niro, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kate Bossworth, Morris Chestnut, Dave Bautista, Gina Carano, Mark – Paul Gosselaar, D. B. Sweeny, Tyson Sullivan
Genre: Action & Adventure
Verdict: GOOD

Plot: When their attempt to rob a casino owned by the feared gangster Pope (Robert De Niro) goes awry and a shootout ensues, Vaughn (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) & Cox (Dave Bautista) are forced to flee on foot & hijack city Bus 657 and take the passengers hostage. Now, in a high speed chase, Vaughn will not only have to outwit the police, led by Officer Bajos (Gina Carano) who are in hot pursuit, but he will have to contend with Pope’s maniacal right hand man, Dog (Morris Chestnut), in order to make it through the day alive.

Aces: The only redeeming factor of this not so suspenseful joy ride in Bus 657 is the natural & restrained performance of Robert De Nero, Jeffery Dean Morgan & Dave Bautista. while the rest of the cast just fill the bill in carrying the film forward.

March 22, 2016 by Nasheman

While modern technology should make our life easier, but the challenges have really made our life more stress full.

Mental Health has been under increasing focus internationally and at home in India. Drawing from her own experiences, the actress has now opened her own NGO that will focus on spreading awareness about mental health and provide help to those suffering from depression and other forms of mental illness.

Rohith Vemula suicide: Students ransack HCU VC’s official residence

March 22, 2016 by Nasheman

rohith-vemula

Hyderabad: A group of students today allegedly ransacked the official residence of Hyderabad Central University (HCU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Appa Rao Podile, protesting against his resumption of duty after having been on long leave.

Scores of students gathered at VC’s lodge after learning that Podile was holding a press conference to announce that he was going to resume charge today.

Prof Podile had gone on a long leave at the height of students’ agitation seeking justice for Dalit research scholar Rohith Vemula, who had committed suicide on January 17 at a hostel room in the HCU campus.

The agitating students today raised slogans against the VC. They broke window panes, smashed doors and television among other items.

One of the protesting students said, “Our primary demand is that the VC should not come…we lost Rohith Vemula. He (Prof Podile) is one of the culprits.”

“It’s almost over two months since the incident occurred but no action has been initiated,” he said.

The protesting students further demanded that the VC should be immediately arrested.

A large number of police personnel were deployed near the Vice Chancellor’s lodge as tension prevailed on the campus.

The press conference by Podile, which was scheduled at 11.30 AM, was cancelled due to the protests.

Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor Podile resumed the charge in the forenoon of March 22, according to the university’s website.

March 22, 2016 by Nasheman

Sreesanth

Kochi: Former Indian pace bowler S. Sreesanth on Tuesday said he has been offered a BJP ticket to contest the May 16 Kerala assembly elections.

“I will announce my candidature tomorrow (Wednesday). I have been offered a ticket by the BJP to contest either from Ernakulam or Tripunithura constituency. I wish to contest from Tripunithura,” Sreesanth told the media in Bengaluru.

He said he hailed from a family with leftist leanings, while his wife’s family supports the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Sreesanth was banned for life by the Board of Control for Cricket in India after fixing allegations. He last played in the 2013 Indian Premier League. He was arrested on charge of match-fixing and was lodged in Tihar Jail in Delhi.

In July 2015, a Patiala House court in Delhi exonerated him and two other players in the case, against which Delhi Police have gone in appeal.

by Al Jazeera

Two explosions have hit Brussels’ Zaventem airport, killing 11 people and injuring 81 others, the health ministry says.

Shortly after the airport blasts on Tuesday morning, an explosion also struck the Maelbeek metro station in the centre of the Belgian capital, killing 15 people, the city transport authority said. The station is close to European Union institutions.

The Belgian federal prosecutor told state media that one of the explosions at the airport was “probably” a suicide attack.

Footage from the airport – the country’s largest – showed people running from the terminal building as plumes of smoke rose to the sky.

The powerful blasts caused parts of the ceiling to fall down and windows were shattered.

All metro lines were shut down after the attacks. Witnesses at the Maelbeek station said people with blood on their faces were seen at the scene.

Ian McCafferty, a witness at the station, said the blast happened during busy rush hour traffic.

“People started running when they saw smoke coming,” he said. “The point of these attacks is to make you live in fear, but I refuse to.”

The interior ministry raised the country’s terror alert to the highest level after the blasts and Brussels’ crisis centre told people: “Stay where you are”.

House searches were carried out in the region around Brussels after the attacks, public broadcaster RTBF said on Twitter.

The interior minister said 600 additional police had been deployed.

Reuters news agency said shots were fired before the explosions at the airport.

“When I heard the first explosion, lots of people started screaming and running,” Tom, an intern working at the airport, told Al Jazeera.

“When I heard the second explosion, which was about 30 seconds after the first one, everything got chaotic. I could see panic on everyone’s face, blood on their bodies.”

After clearing the area of passengers, police brought in sniffer dogs to search the area. Unconfirmed media reports said weapons were found inside the airport.

Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel called for unity as details were still emerging about the attacks.

“We are facing a difficult, challenging time and we should face up to this challenge by being united,” he said.

“What we feared has happened, we were hit by blind attacks.”

Abdeslam arrest

The country had been on high alert since the arrest in Brussels last week of Salah Abdeslam, a key suspect in last November’s Paris attacks that left 130 people dead.

Belgium’s Interior Minister Jan Jambon said on Monday the country was aware of the risk of a possible revenge attack following the capture of the 26-year-old.

“We know that stopping one cell can … push others into action. We are aware of it in this case,” he told public radio.

Governments in Europe and beyond quickly responded to the Brussels attacks, calling emergency national security meetings and stepping up controls at airports and other sensitive sites.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said his country would increase border patrols at the Dutch-Belgian borders and boost security.

France also announced increased security measures. President Francois Hollande said: “We are faced with a global threat … The war against terrorism must be conducted across Europe.”

Movie Review: ‘Miss Teacher’ is a bold attempt and will be definitely liked by Gen X

March 21, 2016 by Shaheen Raaj

Producer: Sanjay Singh Singh Rajput & Rajesh Shukla
Director: Jay Prakkash
Star Cast: Rahul Sharma, Resham Thakkar, Parag Pondal, Priyanshu Singh, Randhir Singh Adi Irani & Komalika Chanda.
Genre: Psychological Drama
Verdict: AVERAGE

Plot: Tanvesh (Rahul Sharma) & Sehar (Rashmi Thakkar) are childhood friends and now in college their love blossoms. But very soon their joyous happiness comes to an end with the arrival of a new teacher Miss. Rose (Komalika Chanda) in the college. Rose in reality is suffering from a sexual disorder and after being left by her husband, she becomes a complete nymphomaniac after trying her hand at Lesbianism and then she starts seducing young college boys. And her latest victim is Tanvesh. When Tanvesh realises his mistake he tries to escape from her clutches. While Rose gets so frustrated on being rejected that she starts hooking up with a courier boy, a pizza delivery boy, a pot belied watchman and so on & so forth.

Aces: The bold subject of the film which is new to Hindi Cinema including the phone sex angle. Director Jay Prakkash has done a good job by bringing to light the ordeals of a nymphomaniac lady and the impact it has on society, especially Gen X. Komalalika Chanda has given a par excellence performance as a nymphomaniac lady. Amongst the rest of the cast Rahul Sharma stands out by giving delivering a restrained act. The other actors too have given a good account of themselves.

Minuses: Although there are a good number of steamy & sexually stimulating scenes, a lack of proper musical score & entertainment value may hamper the film.

Last Word: All in all Miss. Teacher is a youth centric film but it will be liked by the other age group too. So in the long run and with ample word of mouth publicity Miss. Teacher may do a real good business.

March 21, 2016 by Nasheman

West Indies

Bengaluru: West Indies beat Sri Lanka in the second match of the Super 10 stage of World Twenty20 here on Sunday at Chinnaswamy Stadium, chasing down the 123 run target with nearly two overs left and seven wickets in hand.

After restricting Sri Lanka to 122/9, the Caribbean team easily reached the target in the 19th over, led by Andre Fletcher’s 84 off 64 balls with five sixes and six fours.

Fletcher was declared man of the match.

Winning the toss, West Indies captain Darren Sammy chose to field and his bowlers managed to contain the Sri Lankans from going for big shots with spinner Samuel Badree recording figures of 3/12.

Thisara Perera was top scorer with 40 runs off 29 balls, while Dinesh Chandimal (16), Angelo Matthews (20) and Dilshan (12) were the only other ones who managed to get into double figures.
