Indira Gandhi used Hitler’s language: BJP

November 5, 2018 by Nasheman

The BJP on Monday criticised senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge for comparing Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Adolf Hitler and said it was former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who used the language of former German Chancellor.

“Kharge has gone a step forward. He has called Modi a Hitler. I am shocked. The language of Hitler was used by Indira Gandhi during Emergency,” Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told a press conference.

Hitting out at Kharge he said that the Congress leader, who cannot move a step without the permission from the “family”, is alleging the party which follows all democratic norms.

“It is their desperation. I can understand that. When they sense defeat, they got desperate,” Prasad said.

Speaking at a “Samvidhaan Bachao Parishad” organised in Bandra by the Mumbai Congress, Kharge said on Sunday Modi wants to do to India what dictator Adolf Hitler did to Germany.

“The BJP hasn’t been able to walk four steps in the right direction in the past four years. They don’t have any right to point a finger at the Congress and ask us what has been done in the past 70 years.

“The BJP is trying to bring dictatorship in the country. Modi wants to do to India what Adolf Hitler did to Germany. The Constitution is in danger and we need to fight the BJP’s attempts to destroy it,” Kharge said.

PM’s development, job promises give way to temples, statues: Congress

November 5, 2018 by Nasheman

Former Union Minister P. Chidambaram on Monday took a dig at the BJP for promising statues and temples ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, after failing to fulfil its earlier poll promises of development and jobs.

“At the beginning of five years, the promise is for development, jobs and money in every citizen’s bank account,” the Congress veteran tweeted.

“Nothing achieved, at the end of five years, the new promise is for grand temples, giant statues and doles,” he said as he reminded Prime Minister Narendra Modi of his earlier promises of vikas (development), providing two crore jobs annually and bringing back black money stashed in foreign tax havens and filling up the poor man’s coffer with Rs 15 lakh each.

Chidambaram’s latest jibe at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party comes at a time when the saffron brigade has been raising the pitch for the construction of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Modi now looting farmers: Rahul

November 5, 2018 by Nasheman

Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday accused the Modi government of “looting farmers” in the name of its much touted crop insurance scheme, the “Pradhanmantri Bima Fasal Yojana”.

Taking cognisance of an IANS story in which journalist and farm activist P. Sainath asserted that the crop insurance scheme was a “bigger scam than even the Rafale scam”, Gandhi on Twitter accused Modi of promoting crony capitalism.

“After looting the Air Force in Rafale, now the farmers are being looted in the name of crop insurance. The motive is one: fill thousands of crores of rupees in the accounts of suit-boot friends,” he said in Hindi.

The Congress President has been attacking Modi and his government for corruption in the Rafale jets deal.

“The government’s policies are anti-farmer. The Pradhanmantri Bima Fasal Yojana is a bigger racket than even the Rafale scam,” Sainath said on Friday in Ahmedabad.

PKL: Gujarat Fortunegiants defeat Dabang Delhi 45-38

November 5, 2018 by Nasheman

Gujarat Fortunegiants maintained their winning streak after a 45-38 win over Dabang Delhi KC in the ongoing sixth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League here on Sunday.

Delhi’s Chandran Ranjit and Naveen Kumar tried their best to make an impact on the match by getting 11 and 8 raid points however, they were let down by the experienced corner pair comprising Ravinder Pahal and Captain Joginder Narwal, who collected three tackle points in total between them.

Also, Gujarat’s raider Dong Geon Lee, who was brought in for Sunday’s match, caused problems for Delhi after getting a super 10, while Rohit Gulia collected seven raid points.

Gujarat started the match with a toe touch by Rohit on Vishal in the first raid of the match. They continued to dominate Delhi with Rohit getting a super raid with a bonus point and touch points on Vishal and Yogesh Hooda to make it 5-1 in Gujarat’s favour by the 3rd minute.

Gujarat later inflicted an all-out on Delhi by the 6th minute to take a huge 11-3 lead.

It looked like Delhi were moving towards another loss, but they got a boost of optimism with Naveen and Ranjit, who managed regular touch points on Gujarat.

The first-half ended with Gujarat taking a 9-point lead with the score reading 27-18 in their way.

In the second-half, Delhi came with a positive attitude to get the Gujarat defence weakened by getting Parvesh and Sunil out by the 23rd minute to make it 20-29. Later, Gujarat got a super tackle as Naveen entered the lobby without a touch while Sachin got out of the mat.

Rohit Gulia was also giving soft points to Delhi as he tried to tackle the raiders regularly.

Parvesh Bhainswal got a super tackle with a strong thigh hold on Ranjit to extend Gujarat’s lead to 24-36 by the 27th minute.

Delhi tried to make a comeback by inflicting an all out on Gujarat when Ranjit got Parvesh and Sachin out in the 30th minute to reduce the lead to 7 points.

Lee was causing trouble for Delhi with his agility and quick movements by regularly getting Ravinder to make mistakes. The 36th minute saw Ruturaj Koravi dash onto Ranjit to cause an injury to both of them.

The 37th minute saw Yogesh Hooda concede a super tackle by Sachin Vittala as Gujarat stretched their lead to 44-38.

Gujarat made sure to win the contest by slowing down the match with empty raids and hence won it 45-38.

kolkata magistrate court issued arrest warrants against K’taka farmers

November 5, 2018 by Nasheman

Local police have been directed to arrest those issued warrants before February 19, 2019.
Several farmers from the Belagavi district have reportedly been issued arrest warrants by a Kolkata magistrate court, following a petition filed with them by Axis Bank after the bank alleged that the farmers had defaulted on loans. This comes much after the Karnataka state government had stated that it would issue loan waivers to farmers who were struggling to make ends meet, following several crop failures due to droughts, but those waivers have reportedly been delayed.

The Ninth Metropolitan Magistrate of Kolkata recently issued the warrants, following the petition filed by the bank.

After hearing of the issue, state Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy spoke to the Belagavi Deputy Commissioner to initiate all the measures to protect the farmers and also asked why the warrants were issued despite his order to the banks.

Subsequently, Belagavi Deputy Commissioner has approached the farmers in the region and has asked them to not panic, stating that they would be given appropriate protection. It has been reported that between 60 to 100 farmers have been issued arrest warrants in conjunction with this issue and that the warrants were received by the Belagavi Police Commissioner’s office on October 9, which were then forwarded to the Saundatti police.

Following this, farmer’s movement Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) and Hasiru Sene plan to protest at the Vidhana Soudha on November 19. It has also been reported that other farmers’ organisations, including Karnataka Sugarcane Growers’ Association, may also take part in the protest.

“It has been six months since the government announced the waiver, but there is no sign of it being implemented. The delay has taken a toll on farmers who are getting notices and arrest warrants,” said KRRS president Chamarasa Patil to TOI.

Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy had announced a conditional waiver of farmer loans, setting aside Rs 34,000 crore in the first Budget presented by the JD(S)-Congress coalition government at the Vidhana Soudha in July. He had also declared at the time that all defaulted crop loans up to December 31, 2017, would be waived as well.

However, little action has been seen on that front and the local police have now been directed to arrest those who’ve been issued warrants before February 19, 2019.

A man arrested who drugged and sexually harassed woman for 4 months

November 5, 2018 by Nasheman

The 28-year-old man, who threatened the woman with her nude pictures was arrested and remanded to judicial custody.

It was a traumatic four months for Sunita*, a 26-year-old bank employee living in Bengaluru. Sunita was allegedly drugged by a friend, Gaurav Kumar Singh, who then clicked naked pictures of her and began sexually harassing her for four long months.

Unable to bear the torture doled out by Gaurav, Sunita decided to file a complaint with the Kamakshipalya Police on October 31. Gaurav, however, fled before the police could arrest him. The police finally nabbed Gaurav on November 2 and he was remanded to judicial custody.

In May 2018, Sunita met 28-year-old Gaurav through her older sister Sneha*. “I live with my husband in Kamakshipalya. My sister and her husband live one street away from my house and I would visit her regularly. Gaurav was my sister’s colleague and they were also friends. I was introduced to him in July when I went to live with my sister house the last few months of my pregnancy,” Sunita’s complaint states.

For several months, Sunita and Gaurav occasionally met at her sister’s residence, when one day in July, a couple of months after Sunita delivered a baby, Gaurav called her.

“He had taken my cell phone number from my sister’s phone without her knowledge. He called me one day in July and said that my sister was ordering pizza and that she wanted me to come over too. Since her house was just a few meters away, I decided to go over,” Sunita’s complaint states.

However, Sneha and her husband were not home and Gaurav was alone. He allegedly told her that her sister and brother-in-law had just stepped out for a few minutes and that they would be back soon. He offered her a cold drink and also a slice of pizza, which she consumed.

“I began feeling dizzy and I became unconscious. When I awoke, Gaurav showed me four photographs of me in a naked state. He told me that if I do not do as he says, he would send my pictures to my husband and his friends,” Sunita’s complaint states.

Gaurav allegedly began harassing Sunita from the very next day. She alleges in her complaint that Gaurav would arrive at her doorstep unannounced and would demand sexual favours from her in return for his silence on the nude photographs.

“He also forced me to consume alcohol and he also forced some pills into me. He would touch me inappropriately too. I refused to give in to his demands and his threats became more pronounced and sounded dangerous. This went on for four months. When I could not bear it any longer, I told my husband and sister. When he found out that I had spoken about what was done to me, he sent my nude pictures to my husband, his friends and my friends too,” Sunita’s complaint states.

In order to put a stop to the abuse, Sunita finally filed a complaint with the Kamakshipalya Police on October 31. An FIR was registered under section 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with attempt to outrage her modesty), 354 A (sexual harassment) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. When Gaurav absconded, the police tracked his mobile phone and apprehended him in Bengaluru’s Sundanakatte area, where he was living with his friend. He has been remanded to judicial custody.

Plane crashes after mid-air collision in Canada

November 5, 2018 by Nasheman

Two aircrafts collided mid-air over Ottawa‘s west end on Sunday, which led to one of them crashing in a nearby field, the police said.

Police said one of the aircraft crashed into a field near McGee Side Road just east of the 417 in Carp in rural west Ottawa. The other aircraft was redirected to Ottawa International Airport and safely landed there, sustaining only minor damage, Canada’s CBC news reported.

Paramedics are on the scene and the Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating.

Police say it is not yet known how many people were aboard each plane or whether any injuries have been reported.

It’s not clear what type of aircraft were involved and how the collision occurred.

The crash is the second in the Carp area in less than a month.

In mid-October, an ultra-light plane crashed on a road, narrowly missing a house and leaving the pilot seriously injured.

Bihar dismisses 175 police constables, suspends 23 officials for rampage

The Bihar government on Sunday dismissed 175 police constables and suspended 23 police officials for rampaging in the city after the death of a female colleague, who was reportedly denied leave despite being ill.

More than 300 police constables had gone on a rampage here on November 2, damaging properties and attacking police officers, after a woman colleague who had reportedly been refused leave died.

Of the 175 police constables dismissed, most were trainees.

The government also suspended 23 police officials, including havildars and assistant sub-inspectors.

According to officials, the action was taken after a high-level meeting of top police officers here.
