Bigg Boss 14 Grand Finale: Rubina Dilaik wins 'Bigg Boss 14', Rahul Vaidya runner-up

Mumbai: TV actor Rubina Dilaik on Sunday beat nemesis and singer Rahul Vaidya to emerge as the winner of reality show “Bigg Boss” season 14.

Dilaik is known for featuring on shows like “Chotti Bahu” and “Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki”.

Superstar Salman Khan, who is the host of the reality show, announced the winner from the show’s set put up in suburban Mumbai’s Filmcity.

Dilaik, 33, entered the house with her actor-husband Abhinav Shukla and remained an audience favourite right from the show’s debut in October.

From revelations about her rocky marriage, rivalry with Vaidya to her aggressive attitude, Dilaik was one of the most popular contestants on the show.

Besides Dilaik and Vaidya, the other three finalists of the show were actors Nikki Tamboli, Aly Goni and Rakhi Sawant.

Tamboli, who re-entered the show after being evicted, was the second runner-up, followed by Goni who stood fourth.

Sawant, who was one of the biggest entertainers in the “Bigg Boss” house, was the first to leave during the finale as she took Rs 14 lakh prize money that was up for grabs by the five finalists.

Sawant entered season 14 as a “challenger” — along with TV personalities Vikas Gupta, Kashmeera Shah, Manu Punjabi and Arshi Khan.

The finale saw special appearances by veteran actor Dharmendra and dancer-actor Nora Fatehi.

Dharmendra performed a scene from his 1975 blockbuster “Sholay” with Khan and Sawant joining him. Fatehi danced to some of her popular numbers with the “Bharat” star.

Actor Madhuri Dixit Nene, who will be seen on the third season of “Dance Deewane”, appeared on the show with a video message for the contestants.

The latest season of the Colors TV show was held without the live audience in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Bengaluru: NIA special court jails 2 more fake currency racketeers for 6 years

Bengaluru: A special NIA court here convicted two persons for their role in smuggling Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) in the country and fined them Rs 15,000.

The FICN racketeers — Gangadhar Kholkar and Sabiruddin — were convicted by the NIA Special Court in Bengaluru under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on Saturday.

They were sentenced to six years imprisonment and fined Rs 15,000.

The court had earlier convicted three accused — Mohammed Sajjad Ali, MG Raju and Abdul Kadir — on December 2 last year under relevant sections of the IPC for their role in the conspiracy, and had sentenced them to six years imprisonment and fined them.

The case was originally registered in August 2018 in Bengaluru’s Madanayakanahally police station against four accused after FICN having a face value of Rs 6,84,000 in denomination of Rs 2,000 was seized from their possession.

The NIA re-registered the case in September 2018 and took over the investigation.

The probe revealed the involvement of four more persons, including three FICN suppliers in Malda, West Bengal.

The NIA filed chargesheets against seven persons — Mohammed Sajjad Ali, M G Raju, Gangadhar Ramappa Kolkar, Vanitha, Abdul Kadir, Sabiruddin and Vijay.

The trial continues against charge sheeted accused Vanitha and Vijay.

Further investigation against absconding accused Jahiruddin was underway, the NIA added.

Karnataka CM tasks two ministers with Panchamasali row firefight

February 22, 2021 by Nasheman

BENGALURU : Under attack from his own community’s sect, even as his political rivals make hay, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa is all set to deploy his ministers and MLAs from the Panchamasali Lingayat grouping to firefight his latest conundrum. The Panchamasali Lingayats, who are demanding reservation under 2A category, held a massive rally in Bengaluru on Sunday.

Unable to respond directly, lest it fans the embers, leading to a full revolt and damaging his image as the undisputed mass leader of the Lingayats, Yediyurappa is looking to entrust the task of tackling the precarious situation to Mines and Geology Minister Murugesh Nirani and Small Scale Industries and Information Minister C C Patil.

After the two ministers’ failed attempt to woo thousands of Panchamasali Lingayats, who had gathered in Bengaluru on Sunday demanding reservation, the duo, flanked by BJP legislators from the community, will have a solidarity show with the CM through a press conference on Monday.

The ministers’ attempts to dissuade the community from continuing the protest ended in booing from the crowds, ultimatums from seers who are leading the protests and culminated in the duo leaving in a huff, disappointed. “The CM wants the overall welfare of the community. He has, in fact, already written to the Backward Classes Commission to conduct a study and submit a report. My request to the community members is to have patience and trust the government.

We are making all efforts to bring the Panchamasali community under the 2A category,” Murugesh Nirani told TNIE. BJP sources said the general perception within the party was that politics is being played out to embarrass the CM and the BJP governments at the State and Centre. The ministers and the legislators are set to use back-channel talks with the community seers and leaders to compel them to put off the agitation for some time while also defending the government publicly.

In both attempts, the CM is keen on steering clear of a direct dialogue. Sources close to CM suggested he is more keen on including the Veerashaiva-Lingayats as a whole in the Centre’s OBC list. “There was no need for a religious head, claiming to be fighting for the community’s reservation, to praise Congress’ Vinay Kulkarni who is accused of murdering a BJP leader, on stage. Yatnal, who has been abusing the CM, was allowed to use the stage to launch vulgar attacks. People like Kashappanavar are fuelling the stir with the sole purpose of maligning BJP and CM’s image,” alleged a BJP legislator from the community.

Kolkata Police search beauty parlour ‘owned’ by BJP youth-wing leader Pamela Goswami after drugs haul

February 22, 2021 by Nasheman

KOLKATA: The Kolkata Police on Sunday conducted a search operation at a beauty parlour allegedly owned by Pamela Goswami, a youth wing leader of the BJP arrested for possession of cocaine.

Sleuths of the city police took Goswami to the parlour in the New Town area and conducted the search on the premises in her presence, sources said.

Very active on social media platforms where she had taken on celebrities like singer Rihanna over the farmers’ protest, Goswami was arrested with her friend Prabeer Kumar Dey and personal security guard Somnath Chatterjee on Friday after 90 gm of cocaine was allegedly found in her handbag and concealed in the car she was travelling.

She had created a flutter at a city court where she was produced on Saturday, trying to wriggle out of the grasp of police and screaming that Rakesh Singh, a close aide of BJP’s West Bengal pointsman Kailash Vijayvargiya, “plotted” her arrest.

Goswami, a former fashion model and small-time actress, was remanded in police custody till February 25.

Claiming that Goswami had been “brainwashed” by the Kolkata Police and the ruling TMC, Singh said he was not in touch with her for over a year.

Singh said he was ready to face investigation by any agency.

Bengal Assembly polls 2021: PM Modi, Mamata Banerjee to address rallies at same venue

The selection for the public rally at the Dunlop factory ground in Sahaganj by the Trinamool Congress is said to be a reflection of an intensified slugfest between the ruling party and the BJP

KOLKATA: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will address an election rally at the same venue in Hooghly district within 48 hours of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit there on February 22.

The selection for the public rally at the Dunlop factory ground in Sahaganj by the Trinamool Congress is said to be a reflection of an intensified slugfest between the ruling party and the BJP in the state.

The BJP strategically picked the Dunlop factory ground, known as an industrial zone, as the prime minister is likely to address the rally Bengal’s poor performance in attracting investments during Banerjee’s rule. Modi’s last public rally was in East Midnapore district which is known as an agricultural region.

“The decision of holding the rally at the same venue is part of our aggressive campaign strategy against the BJP. We have decided to address rallies from the same place where the BJP will try to mislead the people with a bunch of lies. It will strengthen our counter-attack to the BJP,’’ said TMC MP and spokesperson Saugata Roy.

Two days after BJP’s state and national functionaries visited the ground, TMC leaders also went there.
It will be the first time the Bengal CM will address a poll rally from a place where Modi will be present.

Sources in the BJP said Modi is likely to unleash an attack on Banerjee for driving out Tata Motors from Singur in Hooghly district and the subsequent impact on Bengal’s investments.

Senior BJP leaders, including national vice-president Mukul Roy, have already announced that the party will bring back Tata Motors to Singur if it comes to power.

“Standing on the same ground, the CM will reply to the allegations that Modi is likely to make in his speech. We will follow the practice of selecting the same venues for organising rallies ahead of the Assembly elections,’’ said a senior TMC leader.
