Three bike lifters arrested,8 stolen bikes Worth Rs.9.3 Lakhs Recovered :

The West Division police of RR Nagar police and kamakshipalya police have arrested three bike lifters in two different incidents and recovered 8 bikes worth Rs 9.3 lakh from them.

The RR Nagar police inspector,Naveen Supekar V  and his crime team during vehicle checking they found a suspicious person coming on bike and they flagged him when the team asked to produce documents he dint produce.

The nakabandi point police brought him to RR Nagar station for further questioning during investigation the accused confessed the crime.

The accused was arrested and identified as,Biswajith Mondal,25 and Jayadev,20,and based on their statement the team recovered two bikes worth Rs 1.2 lakh from them.

A detailed investigation by the team has revealed that the accused are labourer by profession by day and would move around the area to identify bikes parked outside the houses and steal them when no one is around.A case has been registered in RR Nagar police station and further investigation is on.

In similar case the Kamakahipalya police inspector, Prashanth M,and his crime staff arrested Anil Kumar, 24,while conducting nakabandi in the area the team found a rider and flagged him on suspicious and when asked to produce documents he dint produce.

So for further questioning the alert police brought him to station for further questioning and during Investigation the accused confessed and said it is stolen bike.

A detailed investigation led him to confess the crime and based on his statement the team recovered six different bikes worth Rs.8.15 Lakhs from him.

A detailed investigation by the team has revealed that the accused used to steal bikes using duplicate keys.A case has been registered in kamakshipalya police station and further investigation is on.

Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP West,Soumendhu Mukherjee,DCP West,Dr Sanjeev M Patil,ACPs,as, UD Krishna Kumar,Nanjundegowda,PIs,as,Naveen Supekar V,and Prashanth M,and their crime staff who has successfully nabbed three bike lifters and recovered 8 stolen bikes from them a suitable reward will be given to the team he added.

History sheeter hacked to death over cigarette row

A 32 year old history sheeter was hacked to death while his friend sustained serious injuries when an armed group attacked them over a trivial row for a cigarette in Gangondahalli area in Chandra layout on Thursday.

The deceased has been identifed as Syed Wasim,alias Bodka Waseem of JJ nagar.

As soon as the murder was reported Chandra layout police inspector Brijesh Mathew, ACP UD Krishna Kumar with DCP West Dr Sanjeev M Patil visited the crime scene and inspected the spot and collected information about the incident.

Senior officers with sniffer dog and finger print experts rushed to the spot and collected the evidence they found at the crime scene.

After inspecting the spot, senior officer said, preliminary information says that Abdul sought the help of Wasim to teach him a lesson and the duo went to meet Saifulla.

Anticipating trouble Saifulla called his brother Barkath,who along with his friends came and attacked Wasim and Abdul with lethal weapons.

Passers by taken the profusely bleeding Wasim and Abdul was taken to near by hospital where the doctors declared Wasim as brought dead.

while his friend Abdul was being treated in ICU. According to the police,Abdul, a cloth merchant and friend of Wasim had a fight with his another  friend Saifulla over a trivial row two days ago and Saifulla had threaten him with dire consequences.

The Chandra layout police have taken up a case of murder,and attempt to murder and are investigating further and soon the assailants will be arrested.

A complaint address to city police commissioner, cubbon park police and copies to SIT and home secretary,Mr.Kumar said Ramesh appeared in media and made repeated attempt to threaten the woman with consequences and exerting pressure on her .

He also leaked the audio conversation of the woman violating individual privacy.Is the woman’s under pressure and being threatened.Or their phones are being illegally intercepted by the accused using government Machinery,Mr.Kumar stated in the complaint.

The accused claimed that he is going to blast big news,which will affect the investigating process.  If the accused is scot free he may destroy the available evidence by threatening complainant and other witnesses.

There is also another video released by the woman claiming she is under pressure and claim she may end life holding the accused responsible.

Hence treat this as complaint and take necessary action,he said in his complaint.

Ramesh Jarkiholi CD row: Woman’s parents appeared before SIT for questioning:

Parents of the woman in the CD appeared before the SIT officials on Saturday at Audogodi technical cell.

The officials recording their statement of the family about the kidnap case,threat perception and the conversation they have had with the woman.

The woman in her videos sought security after the woman in her complaint seek adequate security to her family including parents and two brothers before she could appear before them for questioning.

The SIT had summoned the family after the second video was released asking them to appear before them for questioning.

The parents of the woman had planned to hold press conference but before this,SIT took them for questioning to get the required information beforehand.

The SIT chief, Soumendhu Mukherjee, Joint CP Crime, Sandeep Patil,DCP Central,MN Anucheth DCP Crime-1,KP Ravikumar,with other officers is questioning about the threat perception they have and also the location of the woman and the people who are with her.

The SIT officials have done a video recording of their statement.

The SIT questioning is also to instill confidence that SIT is ensuring security to the parents .

Journalist from Kerala written a letter to Governor and copied to Chief Minister and senior police officials alleging massive corrupt practice and harassment by traffic police.

In his letter Martin Menacherry,desk chief,south Indian times,from kochi cited many instances where traffic police behaved rudely and extorted money from the motorists.

Citing a personal experience Martin said that while he was returning from market in car,a traffic police diverted him to another road where another traffic policeman stopped and demanded Rs.3000 for driving in wrong way.

When martin Reasoned with him and also showed press card,the policeman reduced the amount to half.

Martin paid the fine and demanded recepit for which the policeman asked him to pay Rs.1500 to get the recepit.

Since martin was frustrated and hurry to return home he did not argue further.

He said that the corruption is rampant and each police man makes huge amount of money ranging from 5k to 10k Martin said in his statement.

He further requested the authority concerned to stop the day light robbery of police and save motorists from their clutches.

The government should make the vigilance system popular to contain corruption,he said in his letter.

Woman found murdered under mysterious circumstances in RT Nagar

A 28 year old woman found dead at her house under mysterious circumstances in Nrupatunga layout in RT nagar on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as zara,worked as bar tender in a pub in CBD area.

She was sharing rented house with a woman and she was engaged recently.

Senior officer said,The murder occurred between 8 pm to 12 pm and came to light when she returned home.

The assailant banged her head against the corner of a iron cot.Due to this,Zara sustained severe head injuries and died.

The RT Nagar police with other senior officers,with sniffer dog and finger print experts rushed to spot and conducted investigation.

We suspect that someone known to her might have killed her as there was no forced entry or  resistance found.

The RT Nagar police have secured one person on  are interrogating him and further investigation is on.

Sharad Pawar in hospital after abdominal pain, to undergo surgery

MUMBAI: NCP chief Sharad Pawar will undergo surgery at a hospital here after it was diagnosed that he has gall bladder issue, a minister of his party in the Maharashtra government said here on Monday.

“Our party president Sharad Pawar saheb was feeling a little uneasy due to a pain in his abdomen last evening and was therefore taken to Breach Candy Hospital for a check-up. Upon diagnosis it came to light that he has a problem in his Gall Bladder,” Nawab Malik tweeted.

“He is on Blood Thinning Medication which is now being stopped due to this issue. He will be admitted to the hospital on the 31st of March 2021 and an Endoscopy and Surgery will be conducted. Hence all his programmes stand cancelled until further notice,” the minister added.

The development comes amid speculation that Pawar (80) met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at a top industrialist’s residence in Ahmedabad on Saturday.

At a press conference in New Delhi on Sunday, Shah parried a query on the purported meeting, saying everything cannot be made public.

Malik, whose party shares power in Maharashtra with the Shiv Sena and Congress, had said no such meeting took place, adding there is an attempt to create confusion by spreading such rumours.

Universities in Karnataka up vigil amid rising Covid-19 cases

BENGALURU: With cases mushrooming in educational institutes, vigilance has been increased in university hostels. From keeping hostel occupancy to half to earmarking rooms for preliminary care of symptomatic patients, the authorities are leaving no stone unturned. University of Agricultural Sciences Vice-Chancellor Dr S Rajendra Prasad said two rooms in each of the eight hostel blocks are reserved for preliminary Covid-19 treatment. 

The nearly 1,000 students, mostly female, are accommodated in the dorm rooms meant for visitors or parents who visit the campus. The Vice-Chancellor of Visvesvaraya Technological University, Dr Karisiddappa, said that classes for the final cohort of first semester students will be completed by April 10.

So far, students have been accommodated in batches in the hostels of colleges affiliated to the university, he said. By February, the fourth-year (seventh semester) students were accommodated in the hostels and they left 10 days ago. 

Now, the second-year (third semester) students and the first-year (first semester) students are accommodated in the hostels. While the second-year students will complete their examinations on April 7, first-year students will complete their classes on April 10. “Before reopening for the next semester, the situation will be reviewed with the Education Department. For now, affiliated colleges have been instructed to restrict the accommodation in hostels to one person per room.

NCB conducts raids in Mumbai and Thane; five held with drugs

MUMBAI: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has raided three locations in Mumbai and Thane and seized various drugs, an official said on Sunday, adding four persons have been arrested while a teenage girl detained.

During the operation which began on Saturday night and continued till early Sunday morning, the NCB seized 165 grams of Mephedrone, 20 blots (0.5 grams) of LSD, 8 grams of MDMA/Ecstasy tablets from the arrested persons.

The raids were conducted in suburban Mahim and Andheri, and in neighbouring Thane.

The accused are identified as Mark DeCosta, Abdul Kadir, Naziya Shaikh, Imran Shaikh and a teenage girl.

As part of a new modus operandi being adopted by racketeers, teenage girls are used for trafficking drugs, the official said.

Further investigation is on, he added.

COVID-19 India Update records 68,020 new cases, highest in 2021 so far; 291 more succumb

NEW DELHI: India saw 68,020 new coronavirus cases in a span of 24 hours, the highest single-day rise so far this year, taking the country’s COVID-19 tally to above 1.20 crore, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday.

Registering a steady increase for the 19th day in a row, the active cases have increased to  5,21,808, which comprise 4.33 per cent of the total infections, while the recovery rate has further dropped to 94.32 per cent, the data stated.

A total of 68,020 new cases were reported in a day, the highest recorded since October 11 last year, taking the country’s tally of cases to 1,20,39,644, while the death toll increased to 1,61,843 with 291 fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed.

As many as 74,383 new cases were recorded in a span of 24 hours on October 11.

The active caseload was at its lowest at 1,35,926 on February 12 comprising 1.25 per cent of the total infections.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,13,55,993, while the case fatality rate has further has dropped to 1.34 per cent, the data stated.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed 20 lakh mark on August 7 last year, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16.

It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19 last year.

According to the Indian Council for Medical Research, 24,18,64,161  samples have been tested up to March 28 with 9,13,319 samples being tested on Saturday.

The 291 new fatalities include 108 from Maharashtra, 69 from Punjab, 15 from Chhattisgarh, 12 each from Kerala and Karnataka, and 11 each from Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

A total of 1,61,843  deaths have been reported so far in the country, including 54,181 from Maharashtra, 12,670 from Tamil Nadu, 12,504 from Karnataka, 11,006 from Delhi, 10,324 from West Bengal, 8,786 from Uttar Pradesh, 7,205 from Andhra Pradesh and 6,690 from Punjab.

The health ministry stressed that more than 70 per cent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.
