Anand Balakrishna Appugol,Chairman of Krantiveer Sangolli Rayanna urban co-operative credit Society arrested by ED,under PMLA Act

Enforcement Directorate has arrested Anand Balakrishna Appugol, Chairman of Krantiveer Sangolli Rayanna Urban Co-operative Credit Society, Belagavi City on 05.01.2022 under Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 in a case of cheating public money to the tune of Rs. 250 Crore.

ED initiated money laundering investigation on the basis of FIR registered by Khadebazar Police Station, Belagavi City vide u/s 406, 408 & 420 of IPC, 1860 against Anand Balakrishna Appugol and 15 others.

Prima facie, investigation revealed that the Society had collected around Rs.250 Crore of deposits till March 2017 from more than 26,000 public depositors by promising them that their money will be returned along with high rate of interest.

However, the society failed to return the money to the public depositors in time and committed breach of trust and cheated the public at large.

Funds of the society were siphoned off in the form of immovable and movable properties. As a result, the public depositors have suffered huge losses.

The accused was produced before the Hon’ble City Civil & Sessions Judge and Special Judge for PMLA Cases at Bengaluru on 06.01.2022 and remanded to ED custody for 7 days says a release by Enforcement Directorate.

Realtor hacked to death by armed gang in Anekal

Armed gang hacked a 42-year-old realtor to death after intercepting his vehicle in Anekal on Wednesday night .The police have formed special teams to nab the assailants.

The deceased has been identified as Rajashekhar Reddy (42). A native of Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh, Reddy was settled in Bengaluru for the last few years and was staying in BTM Layout.

Senior officers with FSL and dog squad were pressed into action,after inspecting the spot and collecting stock of the situation,he said, Reddy had gone to Anekal on some work and was returning home in his SUV. 

At around, 7.45 pm,a gang of armed assailants waylaid his vehicle,smashed the window glass of the vehicle before dragging him out of the vehicle.

The gang hacked him to death in full public view before fleeing the scene a few people rushed Reddy to a nearby hospital but the doctors declared him brought dead.

The incident took place close to the residence of union minister A Narayana Swamy near Shivaji Circle.

The police have formed special teams to trace the assailants.We are investigating the case from all angles.

Though the motive is not yet clear, it is suspected that Reddy was murdered over a financial row  or land dispute,” a senior police officer said.

The Anekal police have registered a murder case and are further investigating and the assailants will be nabbed soon said a senior officer.

BBMP orders private hospitals to reserve beds for Covid patients

Instruction to reserve beds for covid treatment:

BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta has instructed the Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes association(PHANA),Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust(SAST),and the private hospitals to keep the beds reserved (in accordance to the government order) for covid treatment immediately in the major hospitals in the city.

As the covid cases are increasing in BBMP limits, addressing a virtual meeting with regard to bed reservation for covid treatment, he said that, covid cases are increasing day by day in the city.

Hence, according to government order, all the private hospitals should keep ready and reserve 30% beds under each category, i.e. ICU, ICU with ventilator, HDU/ Oxygenated and general beds for treatment of covid 19 patients.

Covid care center and step down hospitals at hotels :

The BBMP chief commissioner Gaurav Gupta instructed the hotel association to make preparations to set up covid care centers and step down hospitals at hotels in order to contain covid spread in BBMP limits.

Addressing a virtual meeting regarding the same(setting up/reopening of Covid care center and step down hospitals at hotels), the chief commissioner instructed the hotel association to tie up with private hospitals to reopen covid care centers and step down hospitals which were opened earlier in hotels.

Take needful measures for that and work towards controlling the spread of covid 19, he added.

Special Commissioner (Health) Dr. Trilok Chandra, Chief Health Officer Dr. Balasundar, covid war room personnel and other officers were present.

BBMP Chief Commissioner instructs the officials to take up necessary steps regarding bed reservation for covid-19 patients

As the Covid 19 cases are increasing rapidly in the city, BBMP Chief Commissioner,Gaurav Gupta has instructed the officials to take up necessary measures regarding the bed reservation for covid 19 patients at private hospitals- in accordance to the government’s order immediately.

Addressing a virtual meeting to discuss Covid Hospital Bed Management System(CHBMS) in BBMP limits, today, the chief commissioner said that, the rise in the number of covid 19 cases in the city might form fear in general public; but the fear is unnecessary.

With the proper arrangements of beds at hospitals (govt & private), in accordance to the government’s order, the conditions would be tackled efficiently.

There are around 60,000 covid tests are being taken up daily in the city.

Daily admission rate (number of people getting admitted) at hospitals has seen an increase from 20 to 60 admissions per day.

But, the infected persons need not be worried. BBMP’s tele triaging team and mobile triaging team of concerned ward will check the health conditions of the infected.

Only the infected-to whom hospitalization is necessary, will be admitted to hospital. other may continue with home isolation, the chief commissioner said.

Most of the covid 19 cases will be asymptomatic and such persons can be get cured at their home itself. Citizens should be aware of it.

With proper triaging, only the patients who are in need of medical attention should be sent to hospitals and others to their home.

Zone wise personnel should be deployed to ensure proper triaging. Zonal coordinators should monitor the system, chief commissioner said.

In the city, CV Raman nagar General hospital, KC General hospital, Jayanagar hospital and Bowring hospitals are declared as covid hospitals and reserved for covid treatment.

Enough beds are available at private hospitals too. Need not to be panicked, said the chief commissioner.

With the active operations by covid war rooms and PHCs at each wards, everything must be alright, he added.

People rushing for bed,oxygen,ICU in private hospitals should not be happened. No scarcity of bed should happen. Bed allotment should be in a transparent way, he ordered the officers.

Ensure 10,000 to 12,000 beds:

According to government order, 10,000 to 12,000 beds should be made available in private hospitals by January 16 in BBMP limits.

With regard, nodal officers should visit and inspect the hospitals and should instruct them (hospitals) to keep the beds reserved for covid treatment, the chief commissioner said.

He also instructed the officials to collect exact data on the number of beds in hospitals, occupied and unoccupied beds.

Helpdesk at 100+ bedded hospitals:

Helpdesk should be opened at the hospitals which are with more than 100 beds. They should provide necessary information to the general public visiting hospital.

Deploy needed personnel for that.Ensure Arogya Mithras at all the hospitals,the chief commissioner said.

NIA Special Court Bangalore Convicts and Sentences An Accused in Chikodi –Karnataka FICN Case

The NIA Special Court, Bengaluru on Thursday convicted Shahnoyaj Kasuri alias Shahnawaz alias Shanu alias Khan alia Ishak Shaikh under Sections 120B,489 (B) and 489 (C) of IPC and sentenced him to five years of rigorous imprisonment along with fine of Rs 5000 in Chikodi Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) case of 2018.

The case was originally registered as FIR No. 104/2018 on March 12, 2018 pertaining to recovery of 41 FICNs having face value of Rs 82,000. The NIA had re-registered the case on April 14.

The agency has filed three charge sheets in the case on June 7, December 10, 2018 and on September 15, 2021.

The trial against the remaining accused persons is continuing,the NIA stated.

NIA announces cash reward for info on ambush attack on 46 Assam Rifles convoy

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has declared cash rewards for the capture of 10 terrorists wanted over the ambush attack on 46 Assam Rifles convoy in November, in which Commanding Officer Viplav Tripathi, his family and four personnel were killed.

The rewards declared are to the tune of Rs 8 lakh, Rs 6 lakh and Rs 4 lakh for the 10 terrorists from Manipur’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA),which had claimed November’s ambush,and the Manipur Naga People’s Front (MNPF).

“Ten terrorists of PLA and MNPF are wanted by the National Investigation Agency in connection with attack on the convoy of CO of 46 Assam Rifles on 13.11.2021 with arms and explosives, near Sialsih village on Indo-Myanmar road under Singngat Police Station of Churachandpur District, Manipur,” the NIA said while declaring the reward.

The attack resulted in the death of 05 Assam Rifles personnel including Commanding Officer, his family members and injuries to 06 Assam Rifles personnel,” it added.

Rs 8 lakh reward each has been declared against Chaoyai alias Pukhrambam Mani Meetei and Sagolsem Inaocha alias Ranjit Naorem Inaocha.

Rs 6 lakh reward has been announced against Sanatomba. Rs 4 lakh reward has been declared for the capture of Khaba, Khwairakpa, Nongyai alias Nongphai, Rocky, Balin, Kanta alias Santa and CPL Joseph.

According to sources,it is suspected that the terrorists could be hiding in neighbouring Myanmar.

Sources added that sufficient evidence has been gathered in the case to file a chargesheet as soon as possible. It is expected that the NIA will file a charge sheet by February-end.

The NIA has also put out contact details for any person with information of importance leading to the arrest of the terrorists to share the same.The agency has said that the names of informers will be kept secret.

Work with transparency, don’t try to become capitalists: Karnataka CM tells DCC Bank members

Those in the cooperative institutions should strive for the welfare of farmers by functioning as cooperatives.They should function with efficiency and transparency. They should not try to become capitalists,Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai suggested.

Participating in a function organised by Kalaburagi and Yadagiri District Cooperative Central Bank he said,my government will extend full cooperation for the growth of the cooperative sector.Cooperative sector should enter all the domains.”

Cooperative sector has become an integral part of people’s life in Gujarat and Maharashtra. It should happen in our state too.

The kind of loans and other facilities offered by cooperative banks to common man is not available in scheduled banks. It is an entirely special sector.

Prime Minister Modi has made Home Minister Amit Shah the Cooperative minister at the centre with an objective to see the cooperative sector growing in all the domains. Cooperative sector would see a revolution in the country soon,” Bommai said.

Lauding the performance of DCC Bank, Bommai said, it has shown wonderful dynamism. In the last one year it has disbursed loans to 1.26 lakh farmers with a total amount of Rs500cr. It is commendable that the bank intends to disburse another Rs500cr to 1 lakh more farmers by the end of March.

Consideration in state budget for Health Card, Bus pass facilities for rural journalists

Rs.3000cr for Development of Kalyana Karnataka: CM Bommai

Though small newspapers have limited circulation, the news and articles they carry are high in value.

Providing health card, bus pass and other facilities for rural journalists would get priority in the coming budget.

Kalyana Karnataka Development Board would be constituted within a week and Rs.3000cr action plan for development of the region would be implemented within an year, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said.

The Chief Minister in his address after inaugurating the 36th Karnataka Union of Working Journalists State level conference said, news publication sector is facing many challenges.

It is retaining public conscience and priorities amidst privatisation, globalisation, liberalisation and market driven business system.

Action would be taken to provide necessary advertisements for rural newspapers, health card, bus pass and other facilities for rural journalists in the next budget.

A Rs3000cr action plan has been prepared for the development of Kalyana Karnataka region. It would be finalised within a month after holding a meeting with legislators of this region. The funds would be provided and it would be implemented within a year, Bommai said.

Recalling the role of print media in the freedom movement, Bommai said, it played a key role in inspiring patriotism among the masses. Indian journalism has retained its identity even amid the influence of western journalism.

He appreciated the functioning of journalists during the Covid pandemic which claimed the lives of many journalists.

State government has paid a solatium of Rs.5 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives. We will reach out to the families which are yet to receive it,” he said.

Large and Medium Industries minister Murugesh Nirani inaugurated the Photo exhibition.

BBMP to reopen COVID Care Centres – Gaurav Gupta

As the covid 19 cases are increasing in the city, BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta instructed the Chief Health Officer Dr Balasundar to identify 1 each covid care center in all Assembly constituencies in BBMP limits.

Speaking after inspecting the Covid care center established at Kempegouda community hall under CSR funds in Nandini layout in Mahalakshmi layout constituency in the city, he said that, covid cases are increasing day by day. So, one covid care center in each assembly constituencies should be reopened.

He instructed the Health officer to give the details (name and address of covid care centers, number of beds,number of oxygenated beds, available cylinders, number of oxygen concentrator etc.) of covid care centers.

Converting into full fledged Covid care center:

“The covid care center was already set up at Kempegowda community hall in Nandini layout in Mahalakshmi layout constituency.

Now, under CSR fund, the oxygen plant, 18 oxygen fitted bed facilities on the first floor is ensured.

For that, appointment of doctors and personnel Will be done and the center will become a full fledged one” said the MLA of the constituency, Minister for excise K Gopalaiah.

Speaking to reporters he said, “There are 45 bed facility in ground floor and 18 oxygen fitted bed facility available on first floor of Kempegowda community hall.

Oxygen plant is also there. Around 40 oxygen concentrators are there.Toilet facilities,drinking water also available.

Few works including lift for first floor are yet to be get finished and have instructed the officials to start the work quickly”.

Speaking on the occasion, BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta said, It is instructed the concerned to identify 1 each covid care center in all assembly constituencies as the number of covid cases are increasing.

Persons with mild symptoms, if they are unable to take treatment under home isolation,can get treatment at covid care centers”.

Special commissioner(Health) Dr.Trilokchandra, zonal joint commissioner Shivaswamy, Chief health officers Dr Balasundar, Dr Nirmala Buggi, zonal health officer Dr. Manoranjan Hegde and other officers were present.
