Establishing ‘Nandini Ksheera Samridhi Sahakara Bank’ is a revolutionary initiative Milk producers will get greater financial help: CM Bommai

April 5, 2022 by Nasheman

Parmesh S Jain

Establishing the ‘Nandini Ksheera Samridhi Cooperative Bank’ is a revolutionary initiative. It would provide greater financial strength for the milk producers, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said.

The Chief Minister was speaking after releasing the Logo of the Nandini Ksheera Samridhi Sahakara Bank at a programme in which Union Minister for Home and Cooperation Amit Shah too participated.

“We all know the strength of milk producers in the cooperative sector. The Milk Producers Cooperatives have a turnover of about Rs.20,000 cr in various banks every day.

This is a special programme to establish their own bank which would provide greater financial aid for them and improve their economic condition,” Bommai said.

Computerisation in one year

The State government has decided to computerise all the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Banks.

There are 5775 PACs in the State and a programme has been chalked out to complete this task in just one year.

The task which was to take 3 years would be accomplished in one year with 60% funding from the centre and the remaining amount from the cooperatives, Bommai said.

Improvement in farmers’ economic condition

The cooperative sector has played a major role in improving life of rural masses since its start in 1905.

The cooperative sector has for the last over 100 years given a big boost for rural economy. The Karnataka Milk Federation has shown what all the cooperative sector can do through the cooperative sector.

The Federation is an excellent institution which has provided supplementary sources of employment and income for farmers. It has improved their economic condition.

The cooperative sector has grown to the level of providing loans for 33 lakh farmers this year, Bommai said.

Revolutionary step in cooperative sector

Union minister for Home and Cooperation Amit Shah is well versed in nurturing the cooperation sector.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a revolutionary step by separating the Cooperation ministry from the Agriculture ministry.

A new revolution is set to be ushered in cooperative sector under the leadership of Amit Shah, Bommai said.

Setting up of Nandini Ksheera Samridhi Bank will bring a second wave of White Revolution in dairy sector.

The State government has provided Rs100 cr as its share capitgal and the Milk Federation and Cooperatives would contribute Rs260 cr as their share of capital for the proposed cooperative bank which would stimulate huge economic activity in rural hinterland, Bommai said.

Yeshaswini Scheme

A grant of Rs300 cr has been made in the State budget to relaunch the simple and very useful ‘Yeshaswini’ health insurance scheme for farmers’ families.

Arrangements have been made to disburse farm loans to the tune of Rs24,000 cr for 33 lakh farmers, Bommai said.

Visit of Amit Shah to the State would boost the cooperative sector in the State.Farmers and the cooperatives are the two pillars of rural economy and the state government would chalk out new programmes to improve their economic condition, Bommai said.

A day after Biocon chief Kiran Mazumdar Shaw raised her voice against the ‘growing communal exclusion’ in Karnataka in the form of Halal ban and ban on non-Hindu merchants in temple premises and religious fairs, more people are coming out against what they see as growing communal divide in the southern state.

A team of senior advocates on Friday lodged a complaint with the DGP and IG, Praveen Sood, and the Bengaluru Police Commissioner, Kamal Pant, against some Hindu leaders for allegedly spreading hatred.

The right wing organization are stopping muslim traders to do business and also campaining among their community members not to buy and do business from them.

The police despite knowing this not initiating action is a matter of great concern. The delegation reiterated that the city police should take suo motu action against the trouble maker if they come across such incidents.

Citing stray incidents, the jamiat advised the members of the community not to get influenced by current events and warned that any discrimination is against islamic principle.
During the month of ramadan,non-muslim traders do business near mosque, dargah and other public places and sell eatables to break fast.

members of the community should continue to do shopping without any discrimination and should not allow hatred to flourish .

The community should not get frustrated or disheartened by the acts and actions of few people, who are bent upon to create disturbance in the society.

Pant has been urged to take action against Hindu leaders Prashanth Sambargi,Puneeth Kerehalli and Kaali Swamy, among others.

As per the complaint, few individuals and organisations are spreading hatred in Bengaluru, Mangaluru,Udupi,Davanagere,Tumakuru,Belagavi and Kalaburagi districts along with other cities in the state.

AAP will unify people, not divide them: Ex-Bengaluru top cop Bhaskar Rao

April 5, 2022 by Nasheman

Former Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao on Monday joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in New Delhi.

BENGALURU: Former Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao on Monday joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in New Delhi. After serving as an IPS officer for 32 years, Rao took Voluntary Retirement Scheme to jump into politics. He is well aware of the steep learning curve, but he is confident in delivering what the party expects from him. His immediate priority will be to take up a membership drive and travel across the state to strengthen the organization. Excerpts.

Why did you decide to join AAP?
I have seen all political parties and their activities and know what they can do and what they cannot do. Among all of them, I have found AAP close to people’s welfare. In other parties, it is only sloganeering and personal growth, but AAP is responsible for people’s growth. There has been a perceptible change in the people’s standard of living and that is the reason I decided to continue my public service with AAP.

Did you take that decision after AAP won elections in Punjab?
No. I took this decision over four-and-half years ago. (Delhi Chief Minister) Arvind Kejriwal is a good friend of mine and had invited me to join the party, but he had also asked me to first finish any other important tenures in my career. One of the important tenures that I had was Commissioner of Bengaluru City Police. I had decided to join the party long back.

Will you be contesting the assembly polls?
I have joined the party today and it will be premature for me to declare it so early. Definitely, AAP will go to elections in a very big way and we will contest from all 224 assembly constituencies with good people.

Since you have served as Bengaluru City Police Commissioner and know the city well, will Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) polls be your main priority now?
I don’t think the state government has any inclination to conduct the BBMP elections. The elections are already been overdue.

What will be your role in the party?
We will do our best to strengthen the party in the state. I am new to this field and I think my learning curve will be very steep. I hope I will be able to deliver whatever the party asks of me.

What are your immediate priorities?
My immediate priority is to travel all over the state, carry out a huge membership drive and strengthen the organisation.

Your views on communal issues that are coming to the fore in the state now?
If there is nothing else to talk about, you start dividing people and distracting their attention. We don’t want to divide people; we want to unify people. I personally don’t want to talk about religion and caste on public platforms.

HDK slams BJP, but Muslim trust deficit an issue

April 5, 2022 by Nasheman

BENGALURU: Wading into the controversy of loudspeakers in mosques, JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy lashed out at the BJP government for raising communal issues.

Kumaraswamy raising these issues against the BJP after indirectly supporting the saffron party on many issues, and even getting his party MLC elected as Upper House chairman, has surprised many.

Asked if Kumaraswamy is sensing an opportunity to move into the secular space, which is largely a domain of the Congress, political analyst BS Murthy said, “Kumaraswamy thinks that minorities feel the Congress countering the BJP has not been effective. He is an instinctive politician; he sees an opening and has moved in. I am not surprised to see he’s got a good response. He is trying to set a narrative to counter Hindutva.’’

Recently, the JDS openly “poached” CM Ibrahim, and sources say this is the JDS’ massive secular push. The party fielded two Muslim candidates in the last bypolls, but experts say that trust is important.
“Do Muslims trust him? Considering that Kumaraswamy’s party had polled less than 1 per cent of Muslim votes in the last election, is the party working hard to regain the Muslim vote?” Murthy said.

“Upper House chairman Basavaraj Horatti, who is leaving the JDS to join the BJP, had said Kumaraswamy agreed to him moving to BJP. This makes it appear like a consensual move. These moves may not help the JDS establish credibility, because JDS has always played the opportunistic ally to both BJP and Congress,” he said.

Hike in fuel prices again: Petrol up by Rs 9.20 after 13 revisions in 15 days

April 5, 2022 by Nasheman

NEW DELHI: With the thirteenth revision in the fuel prices in fifteen days, petrol and diesel rates have gone up by 80 paise each on Tuesday. With this, the total increase in fuel rates is now Rs 9.20 per litre.

Petrol and diesel in Delhi now cost Rs 104.61 and Rs 95.87 per litre respectively. While in Mumbai, petrol cost Rs 119.67 per litre after an increase of 84 paise and diesel at Rs 103.92, increased by 85 paise.

Notably, the price of CNG was increased by Rs 2.5 per kg yesterday. With the new price, CNG costs Rs 64.11 per Kg in the national capital.

The increase in prices has also created a political uproar as the Opposition has been staging protests and demanding a decrease in fuel prices.

The Rajya Sabha was on Monday adjourned for the day following repeated disruptions over rising prices of petroleum products and essential commodities with the Opposition protesting on the issue as their demand to hold a discussion on the matter was rejected.

DMK member Tiruchi Siva had raised a point of order, asking “why the notices given by us under Rule 267 to the Secretary-General to suspend all business of the House and conduct a discussion on hiking oil prices and many other notices were rejected”.

There had been a pause in the revision of fuel prices since November 4 last year, which ended on March 22, following the crude oil prices going upwards in the wake of the Russian military operations in Ukraine.

Prices are set to be raised further given the sharp jump in crude oil prices in the international markets. It will have a cascading impact on the prices of other items and lead to inflationary pressure and hurt growth while also impacting the prices of other items.

Meanwhile, Congress is holding a nationwide protest campaign ‘Mehngai Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ against price rises under which it is organising rallies and marches across the country from March 31 to April 7.

Notably, on November 3 last year, the Centre had cut excise duty by Rs 5 per litre on petrol and Rs 10 per litre on diesel to bring down the retail prices across the country.

Following this, several state governments had reduced Value-Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel to provide relief to people.
