Seven Policemen among Inspector,Two Sub-Inspectors,4 cops suspended for abetting betting racket in Bengaluru

Seven policemen including an Inspector,two Sub Inspectors,a head constable and three constables working in two different stations have been booked abetting a betting racket and accepting bribe in separate incidents .

While five policemen attached to Sadashivnagar police station have been suspended.

Meanwhile the Lokayukta sleuths in a separate incident trapped a Head constable of Chikkajala red handed while accepting bribe.

According to a senior police official,in the first incident,all the five suspended policemen including 3 constabulary and 2 PSIs are linked to a cricket betting racket.

Their involvement came to light during the raid carried out on the betting racket.

Preliminary investigations revealed their links and hence the accused police personnel were suspended and detailed departmental inquiry is ordered,a senior police officer said .

In second incident,the Lokayukta sleuths arrested Head constable,Ravi S while he was accepting a bribe from the accused of a civil dispute case.

During investigation it was found that the Ravi had taken Rs.3.7 lakh bribe from,Devaraju, promising to drop the charges against him.

Ravi told Devaraju that he had to pay Rs.50,000 to Inspector and Rs.30,000 to two writers of the station as part of the deal.

However he state demanding an additional ₹ 5 lakh from Devaraju following which he approached the station and filed a complaint .

Based on the complaint a team of police trapped Ravi while the Inspector managed to escape .

The accused Head constable has been booked under Prevention of Corruption Act and taken into custody for further investigations.

Two Notorious Habitual offender arrested by KR Puram police recovered stolen valuables worth Rs.6.2 Lakhs

The KR Puram police on Thursday arrested two habitual offenders and recovered stolen valuables worth Rs.6,2 lakh from them.

The accused Rafiq Khan,27,from Govindapura and his associate Vinay Venkataramanappa,20, from Kolar were involved in four criminal cases including a robbery, two house breaks and a bike theft cases reported in and around whitefield division.

The accused were arrested when they were moving suspiciously In Ayappa Nagar to recce the locked house in a stolen bike.

The police patrolling team intercepted them and a detailed questioning led them to confess to the crime.

Based on their confession the police recovered the stolen valuables from a gold shop where the accused had pawned to get money for his vices.

Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,CH Pratap Reddy has appreciated Addl CP East,A subramanyeshwara Rao,DCP Whitefield,Girish S,ACP,Shanthamallapa,PI,Nandish HL,PSI,Praveen BN,and crime staff as,Venkataraju,Arif Pasha, Venkatesh,Adinarayan,Firoz Ahmed,Hanumantha Nayak,Jating Rai,Shashikumar Kambale,Shivangowda,Devappa and others has been appreciated for the commendable job done by them in nabbing the notorious HBT offender he added.

Kengeri police arrested murderers,Mother and Son for killing elderly woman after five years over trivial row

The West Division police of Kengeri police on Friday claimed to have solved the 2016 murder of a 70-year-old woman with the arrests of her daughter and grandson,whom they traced to Kolhapur in Maharashtra with help of Know Your Customer details submitted to a bank there,and an accomplice.

The accused has been identified as,Sanjay Srivasudeva Rao and Shashikala.

Senior officer told reporters in a recent crime review meeting which was conducted by Commissioner of Police CH Pratap Reddy,while crime review meeting after analysing reports of pending cases in West Division the commissioner reviewed about the Kengeri murder case which took place five years ago the murder shocked the city.

Commissioner of police CH Pratap Reddy directed Addl CP West Sandeep Patil to form a special team to crack the case.

Based on instructions Sandeep Patil led a special team under the leadership of DCP West Laxman B Nimbargi ACP T Kodandarama and team headed by PI,Vasanth and team swung into action.

Based on the complaint filed by the owner of the house, the police registered a case of murder and kept a tab on the accused for five years until the police realized that the accused were operating their bank account from Kolhapur where they had started living in an apartment with different identities.

During investigation the duo confessed the crime and it was revealed that the accused Sanjay Srivasudeva Rao has bludgeoned his 70-year-old grandmother over a trivial row and buried her body in a closet of the house for six months before fleeing.

The accused told the police that his grandmother Shanthkumari was very traditional and had a fight with Sanjay for getting the food from outside as roadside on the fateful day of May 5 2017.

In the melee Sanjay took the rolling pin and bludgeoned her to death.The son and his mother unable to take the body outside, buried the deadbody in a closet of their house situated in Kengeri satellite town and lived in the house for six months.The duo escaped after foul smell started emanating from the house.

The duo was brought to the city,produced before the court and taken into custody for further investigation.

Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,CH Pratap Reddy has appreciated Addl CP West,Sandeep Patil,DCP West,Laxman B Nimbargi,ACP T Kodandarama,PI,Vasanth C,PSI,Nagaraj N,ASI,Shivhucchaiah,and crime staff as,Ravi PL,Hanumathappa Chikkanavar,Ms.Nagaveni, Ningappa Kengningappanavar,and others has been appreciated for the exemplary and meticulous and tremendous job done by them who kept a tab on the murder case and after getting a vital clue and evidence the team zeroed in on them in Kolhapur Maharashtra Bus stand and for the exemplary and excellent work done by them a suitable reward will be given to whole team he added.

Karnataka HC notice to authorities on electrocution of wild animals

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has ordered issuance of notice to all concerned authorities in a public interest litigation against illegal electric fences causing death of elephants and other wild animals in the State.

The PIL filed by advocate Ankush Yennemajal was heard by a division bench headed by Chief Justice Prasanna B Varale on Monday.

Citing news reports of elephant deaths due to electrocution, the PIL claimed: “The Forest Department of Karnataka and the Karnataka Power Corporation Limited do not seem to be bothered by the fact that illegal connections are now being given in several places of Karnataka, especially in rural areas.”

It alleged that of the about 6,000 elephants in the state forests, 70 died in 2021 out of which 15 were due to unnatural causes including electrocution. The PIL seeks direction to the authorities to prevent such deaths of wild animals.

Man sets children on fire after quarrel with wife in UP’s Bijnor

Bijnor {UP}: A man allegedly set his two children on fire following a quarrel with his wife, police said on Tuesday.

The children sustained burn injuries on their faces and they have been admitted to the hospital, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Praveen Ranjan Singh said.

The accused father Arun has been arrested, police said.

In a complaint filed by the mother of the children, Vandana, she accused her in-laws of torturing her for dowry after her marriage.

She said after an argument on Monday night her husband Arun threw petrol on her and his children Aarav (4) and Urvashi (2) and set them on fire, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Praveen Ranjan Singh said.

According to the complaint, Vandana somehow saved herself but both the children got burnt.

A case has been registered against Arun, Deepak, Ajay and Kuntesh Devi, Singh said.

Customs seizes Rs 2.95 cr worth gold concealed inside body shapers at Delhi airport, 3 held

New Delhi: Customs officials have seized gold worth Rs 2.95 crore, concealed inside body shapers being carried by three passengers, at Delhi airport, an official statement issued on Tuesday said.

The accused were intercepted after they arrived from Sharjah on October 28.

The detailed examination of the baggage and personal search of the passengers resulted in the recovery of seven rectangular-shaped pouches containing chemical paste, appearing to be gold and weighing 7.76 kg in total, which was concealed in the pockets of the body shapers belt kept in the handbag, it said.

Around 6.67 kg gold was extracted from this paste which was moulded into 19 uneven rectangular-shaped bars of gold having a value of Rs 2.95 crore, said the statement issued by the customs.

The gold has been seized and the passengers have been arrested, it said, without sharing further details of the accused.

Crackdown on Chinese loan apps:ED raids Paytm, Razorpay, Cashfree offices in Bengaluru

Directorate of Enforcement (ED) conducted raids on six loan app firms owned by chinese nationals across the city and seized cash worth Rs 17 crores.

The raids were conducted based on series of complaints received by the Central Crime Branch in the recent past.

Directorate of Enforcement,(ED)has been carrying out search operations under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002 on Friday.

The case is based on 18 Nos of FIRs registered by Cyber Crime Police Station,Bengaluru City against numerous entities and persons in connection with their involvement in extortion and harassment of the public who had availed small amount of loans through the mobile apps .

Inquiries revealed that these entities controlled by Chinese nationals .

The modus operandi of these entities is by using forged documents of Indians and making them as dummy directors of those entities,they are generating proceeds of crime.

It has come to notice that the said entities were doing their illegal business through various Merchant IDs and accounts held with Payment
Gateways and banks.

The premises of Razorpay Pvt Ltd,Cashfree Payments,Paytm Payment Services Ltd and entities controlled and operated by Chinese Persons are covered in the search operation.

During the search operation, it is noticed that the said entities were generating proceeds of crime through various Merchant IDs and accounts held with Payment Gateways and banks and they are also not operating from the addresses given on the website and registered address and having fake addresses.

An amount of Rs 17 Crore have been seized in merchant IDs and bank accounts of these Chinese persons-controlled entities.

The search operation is in progress,the official release,said.

Two injured in explosion in house in Bengaluru

Two persons sustained severe burn injuries in explosion due to LPG cylinder leakage at their house in Kashi Nagar of Yelachenahall in KS Layout on Saturday.

The duo identified as Goutham and Mondal , were admitted to victoria hospital .

The duo was from Assam and working as seurity guards and living in a rented house for few months.

The door and the window panes were damaged due to the impact of the explosion.

The KS Layout police who rushed to the site and conducted investigations suspected that the explosion was due to leak from the cylinder last night and the duo failed to notice.

Police suspect one of them woke up and tried to switch on light and the spark led to the explosion.

The residents woke up to the huge sound at around 7.30 am the owner of the house Venkataswamy Reddy rushed to the spot and alerted the police.

The cylinder and the regulator were found intact and we suspect that the explosion was due to gas formed inside the compact house.

The KS layout police are analyzing the items inside the house to ascertain any other reason for the explosion.

A case has been registered in KS Layout police station and further investigation is on.

Most Wanted Bike lifter a mechanic and associate arrested by Jayanagar police recovered 20 stolen bikes worth Rs.20 Lakhs

The South Division police of Jayanagar police arrested a machanic and his associate and recovered 20 stolen bikes from them.

The accused has been identified as Afroz Pasha and his associate Hussain Saud.

Senior officer told reporters as their were series of bike thefts took place recently in and around Jayanagar area.

DCP South,P Krishnakant while conducting a crime review meeting instructed the Jayanagar Sub Division officers and crime staff to nab the bike lifter who has been a headache for many innocent residents who wake up to see a shock of their bike missing.

Based on instructions a special team was formed under the leadership of ACP,KV Srinivas,PI,UR Manjunath,and his crime staff swung into action.

The team analysed the CCTV footage from the scene of crime and with the help of technical inputs and police investigation skills the team identified the accused and apprehended from his house in Shivajinagar.

During investigation the accused confessed the crime and it was found the accused used to work as mechanic from his house and a full time bike lifter who was most wanted.

A detailed investigation by the team it has found that he used duplicate keys to steal bikes parked outside the house .

The accused started stealing bikes for the last sx months in and around south division and sell the parts of the bikes with his arrest the team recovered 20 stolen bikes of different companies worth around Rs.20 lakhs.

Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,CH Pratap Reddy has appreciated Addl CP West,Sandeep Patil,DCP,South,P Krishnakant,ACP,KV Srinivas, PI,UR Manjunath,PSIs,as,Chandan Kale, Ravikumar MH and other crime staff who has done a excellent work in nabbing the most wanted bike lifter a suitable reward will be given to whole team he added.

paying cancellation charges for cab ride,proves costly for Bengaluru woman loses Rs.94,367

Trying to pay cancellation charges proves costly for a 34-year-old home maker as she lost Rs 94,367 to cyber fraudster.

Senior officer told reporters,The victim,Naziya G Naik,from Agrahara Dasarahalli,had booked a cab online to visit her relatives and later cancelled the trip .

The driver asked her to pay the cancellation charges for which she checked the customer care online and called the executive on the number mentioned.

The customer care executive offered to help her send a link to download Anydesk app and scan her debit card .

Ms.Naik followed the instructions and as soon as she scanned her debit card a total of Rs.94,367 has been deducted.

Shocked victim tried to call the number but there was no response .

Realizing that she has been cheated,the victim approached the West division cyber crime police and filed a complaint.

The police are now on trying to track down the accused through online transaction he said.
