CM Bommai assures 3 acres of land for the benefit of people from Northern Karnataka settled in Bengaluru

Chief Minister Basavarj Bommai has assured to provide atleast 3 acres of land for the benefit of people from Northern Karnataka settled in Bengaluru.

The assurance came when a delegation of the Federation of Northern Karnataka Associations in Bengaluru called on the Chief Minister on Saturday.

The delegation led by President of the Federation Shivakumar Meti presented the charter of demands to the Chief Minister at his home office ‘Krishna’.

“Soon land would be granted for construction of a building for the benefit of people from Northern Karnataka.

The land would help build a hostel for the students and people coming from that region,” Bommai said.

The Chief Minister responded positively for a demand from the delegation to provide funds on priority basis for prominent development projects of Northern Karnataka.

Apart from Shivakumar Meti, the delegation included Basavaraj Beluru, Sridhar Kalkuru, Gangadhar Vali, Journalist Shankar Pagoki and others.

Hijab Row: FIR against protesting students in Karnataka’s Tumakuru

Tumakuru police on Friday registered FIR against as many as 15 girl students of Girls Empress, Govt Pre-University College for protesting at the campus defying prohibitory orders.

In his complaint Mr.Shanmukha said that the students violating the prohibitory orders and college holding parents teachers meeting instructing HC interim order not to wear hijab, few hijab clad students barged into the campus shouted slogans and created ruckus demanding that they should be allowed to attend classes with hijab.

This has not only created ruckus but disrupt the normal activities of the college.

The snap protest not only violated the prohibitory orders but also HC interim order,he said .

The police are now trying to identify the agitated students through the video footage.

Senior officer said,Based on the complaint filed by Shanmukha S ,principal of the College the police charged the girls under section 145 (unlawful assembly),section 188 (disobedience of order pramulgated by public servants) section 149 (unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object ) .

Two Peddlers held,International Drug racket busted by Custom Officials,Heroin and MDMA pills Worth Rs.9.82 Crore seized at Kempegowda International Airport

Custom officials busted international racket and seized heroin and ecstasy pills worth Rs 9.82 crore smuggled through air cargo into the Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport .

The officials nabbed two suspects in this connection.

Based on specific intelligence of concealment of contraband,the officers of Customs Intelligence Unit (CIU)and Special Intelligence and Investigation Branch (SIIB),Bengaluru Airport and Air Cargo Commissionerate, intercepted two shipments in the International Courier Terminal that had arrived from Zambia and Belgium.

During scanning process found something amiss about the consignments.

The parcel that reached Bengaluru from Belgium was cut open to reveal 4.58 kg of colourful pills which was later established to be MDMA drugs commonly known as Ecstasy pills or Molly.

The seized drugs were worth Rs 2.82 crore in the international market.

Another consignment of machine parts shipped from Zambia in southern Africa was flagged by Customs sleuths at the cargo wing who immediately dismantled the top portion to unearth a light brownish powder which a lab test confirmed as first quality heroin weighing one kg and estimated to be worth a whopping Rs 7 crore in its present market value.

The ecstasy pills and heroin worth a total of Rs. 9.82 crore were seized and Bengaluru Customs began a probe and nabbed two men on Friday night.

Their identities are yet to be revealed due to an ongoing probe.The drug seizure is one of the biggest in recent times at Bengaluru Airport .

Recently the officials busted another racket and seized heroine worth Rs 5.30 crore being smuggled inside a laptop sleeve via air courier from Dubai on January 25, 2022.

A Senior customs officials told media persons, The two persons were arrested under NDPS Act and produced before the Hon’ble NDPS Court, who remanded them to judicial custody.

Further followup action with the assistance of Commissioner of Customs, Trichy Preventive and team led to the arrest of a Nigerian national presently residing in Erode,Tamilnadu, who was facilitating the import of the said narcotic substances.

The said Nigerian national was also arrested on 19.02.2022 and produced before the Hon’ble NDPS Court,who remanded him to judicial custody he added.

Amid Hijab Row, Prohibitory Orders In Bengaluru Extended Till Feb 28

Prohibitory orders in and around the city has been enforced till February 28 to following the guidelines issued by the chief secretary and chairman of state executive committee of state disaster management authority .

The district administration had imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC in areas around all high schools on February 9 following the pro and anti-hijab protests.

The prohibitory order restrict all types of rallies, dharnas,congregations including social religious and political protest procession of any sort .

Marriage functions are prohibited with more than 300 persons in open space and 200 people in closed space .

Sports complex and stadiums shall not operate exceeding 50 per cent of its capacity.Any violations of order is liable for prosecutions under provisions of Disaster Management Act section 188 ( Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of IPC and Karnataka Epidemic Disease Act says the order issued by Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Kamal Pant.

One killed,six injured in fire caused by LPG cylinder leakage in Bengaluru

A 46-year -old woman died of burn injuries while six others were injured in a fire accident due to LPG leakage at their house in Kumaraswamy Layout on Wednesday .

The victims were busy preparing meals for the family members who gathered to observe the death ceremony of the deceased father.

The deceased has been identified as Parameshwari and the injured are Soubagya, Saravana and Bhuvaneshwari,Mala and two others.They were treated as outpatients in Victoria hospital and discharged on Thursday.

Senior fire officer said,the incident occurred at around 4.30 pm while Parameshari was busy cooking food using an LPG cylinder connected to a bigger stove.

She tried to light it and fire broke out due to the leakage and she was caught in fire.Six persons close to her were also injured while others escaped narrowly as they were on the first floor of the house .

The injured Parameshwari was rushed to the hospital where Parameshwari was declared dead.

Since the house was small,the family had kept the gas stove in a room to cook a big meal,a officer said .

The police suspect that the gas regulator must not have been fitted properly which could have resulted in the gas leakage and caused the mishap.

Parameshwari’s father Kashinath had passed away a few days ago due to health issues.The family held the ritual at their house and also invited their relatives, the police officer added.

The KS Layout police have registered a case and awaiting FSL reports further investigation is on .

Murder accused,Couple arrested after 7 years for murdering,relative by dumping his body in Storm water drain in AP

The West Division police of Kamakshipalya police on Thursday arrested a couple who killed their relative in a cold blooded manner and dumped his body in a storm water drain in Andhra Pradesh seven years ago for forcing them to return the loan which they had borrowed from him.

The accused have been identified as Mohammed Ghouse, 39 and his wife Heena Kousar, 27.

Senior officer told media persons a crime review meeting was held in which senior officers took stock of the pending cases in which a missing and murder case information was collected by commissioner of police Kamal Pant in the crime review meeting after collecting information about the case he instructed DCP West, Dr Sanjeev M Patil to form a special team to nab the assailants.

He said the Kamakshipalya police inspector received a credible information from the complainant that the couple who are missing since the murder of her husband are in town as one of their family member died so to pay their last respect they will come there.

Based on information a team went near the house and after all their rituals the team who camped their and kept a close watch on their movements and after getting suspect on them the team secured them and brought to station for questioning.

During questioning the duo couple confessed to the crime and revealed that the deceased has helped them in clearing loan but in return he used to seek sexual favours from her wife so they hatched a plan and killed him by strangulation and carried his body in a bag and dumped it into Andhra Pradesh storm drain.

The team who grilled they spilled the beans they said they had vacated the house and shifted to Andhra Pradesh only to return on Tuesday to attend the last rites of their relative.

A detailed investigation by the team the couple revealed that Ghouse is a tailor by profession and lived in a rented house in Heganahalli .

Ghouse has incurred huge loss in business and borrowed loan from a local money lender.When he failed to return the money and the money lenders started forcing him to repayment,the deceased Wazeer Pasha, distant relative of Kousar intervened and repaid the loan and later started seeking sexual favour in return of the help.

Ghouse came to know about this and objected to Wazeer for which enraged Wazeer demanded him to return the money .

Unable to bear the harassment,the couple decided to get rid of him and as per the plan Kousar invited Wazeer to her home and to offer him favour.

While Wazeer was in compromising position, Ghouse who was hiding in the house,pounced on him and the couple overpowered and strangled him to death using saree.

They later tied the hands and legs of and stuffed the body into a plastic bag covering with shreds of cloths to make it look like cloth bundle.

The couple carried the bag in a scooter to Kavetinagepalli town in Anantupur in Andhra Pradesh and dumped the body in a storm water drain.

The Jurisdictional Somandepalli police few days later recovered the body and registered the case of unnatural death .

They even filed a B report before the court after failing to establish the identity of the deceased .

Meanwhile when Wazeer did not return home,his wife Ayesha filed a missing complaint with the police the next day and the family started inquiring with the acquintance to know where Wazeer had gone.

Ms.Ayesha recently got a information that Wazeer was supposed to visit the house of Kousar and the couple were vacated the house and went missing mysteriously.

The matter was brought to the notice of the police on February 11 and the police swung into action and began to track down the couple until Tuesday when they had come to Sunkadakatte to attend the last rites of Kausar’s grandfather .

The couple have been produced before the court and taken into custody for further investigations.

Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP West,Sandeep Patil,DCP West,Dr Sanjeev M Patil,ACP, Vijayanagar Sub-Division,Nanjundegowda,PI Prashanth M,PSI,Murthy and his crime staff as,Natesh,Yogish Babu, Hitendra Kumar,Sadashivaiah,Nagaraju and other crime staff has been appreciated for acting Swiftly and timely intervening and arresting the couple who were absconding from past 7 years a special reward will be given to the whole team for their excellent work and speedy action he added.

Drug peddler held with 1503 Yaba tablets worth Rs.18 lakhs by Wilson garden police

The Central Division police of Wilson Garden police on Tuesday arrested a man from Assam based and recovered Yaba tablets which he had sourced from Burma border and peddling in city.

The arrested has been identified as Bidarul Islam Mustafa, a resident of Batthalapalli in Hosur was working in a garment factory.

Senior officer told media persons,The Wilson garden police inspector,B Shankarachar received a credible information that a person is in possession of drugs and waiting near 9th cross of Wilson garden to deliver the consignment to his clients.

Based on credible information the inspector and his team rushed to the spot and kept a close watch on the suspect and after getting confirmation the team surrounded the area and approached the suspect and the team intercepted him and found Yaba tablets in their possession.

During investigation the accused confessed to the crime and it was revealed the accused has sourced the tablets from Burma border and used to supply to his clients. we have recovered two of his mobile phones and 1503 Yaba tablets worth around Rs 18 lakh and the accused has been booked under NDPS Act and taken into the custody to ascertain the details of his customers.

The accused was travelling in trains from Assam while transporting the drug concealed in backpack and further investigation is on.

Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP West,Sandeep Patil,DCP Central,MN Anucheth,ACP,V Narayanswamy,PI,B Shankarachar,PSI,NB Magdhum,Ms.Priyadarshini,and crime staff has been appreciated for the commendable job done by them who has nabbed the drug peddler and recovered Yaba tablets from his possession for the exemplary work done a cash reward of Rs.45,000 has been announced to the team he added.

Horrific accident in Hosakote four Enginnering student killed two injured

Four students pursuing Bachelor of Business Administration were killed on the spot while two others serious injured when the car they were traveling lost control due to over speeding jumped the divider and collided with the truck head on near Attur gate on National highway 75 in the outskirts of the city in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as,Vaishnavi, Bharath,Cyril and Venkat,The injured Siri Krishna and Ankita Reddy were admitted to private hospital in Hosakote and said to be critical .

The Impact of the accident was so high that the car bearing Tamil Nadu Registration was mangled and the police and passers-by have to struggle hard to pull out the bodies stuck inside .

The victims hailed from Chittoor and Madanapalli are students of Garden city college and staying in a Paying guest accommodation.All the victims aged between 21 to 23 years.

Probe revealed that the victims were on a joy ride late in the night and had visited Coffee day at Narasapura near Kolar before returning back to the city at around 2 am .

While reaching the attur gate Venkat who was driving the car lost control and jumped the divider before colliding with the truck .

The Hosakote rural police who are probing further found few bottles of liquor inside the car and suspected that it could be a case of drunk and driving .

The police are awaiting post mortem report and also team of vehicle inspectorate report to ascertain the cause of the accident and investigation is on said a senior officer.

Centre approves proposal to declare Upper Bhadra project as national project: CM Bommai

The High Power Committee set up by the Union government has approved the proposal to declare the Upper Bhadra Project as a National Project.

This would enable the State to get a Rs.12,500cr grant from the Centre to implement the project, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said.

Speaking at the valedictory of Taralabalu Hunnime Mahotsava,Bommai said,Upper Bhadra is the only project which has been made a National Project.

The project would bring huge tracts of land in Central Karnataka under irrigation.It would also raise the underground water table.

Former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had laid the foundation stone for Upper Bhadra project in 2008.

We have undertaken works to fill the irrigation tanks in the region.Earlier the the State government had asked the farmers to pay the power bill and now bowing to Sirigere Seer’s request the order has been changed with government bearing the electricity cost too,” Bommai said.
