The Banashankari police on Monday arrested a gang of eight unemployed graduates from Andhra Pradesh and recovered 30 bikes worth Rs 68 lakh from them.
The accused have been identified as Vijay Bandi, 25, Hemanth, 27, Gunashekhar Reddy, 30, Bhanumurhy, 25, Purushotham Naidu, 30, Karthik Kumar, 27 and Kiran Kumar, 22 are engineering,
The accused are MBA and diploma graduates from a reputed colleges in Andhra Pradesh started stealing bikes to make quick money.
Senior officer told reporters,Based on a complaint filed by Rakesh,a resident of Thyagarajnagar on March 26, the Banashankari police analyzed the CCTV footages and track down the accused to their home town .
During investigation the accused confessed the crime and it has revealed that the accused have watched youtube and other social media on how to steal bikes without using ignition key and would come to city.
The accused would move around the city to identify bikes parked in front of the houses and steal them by breaking the hand lock and start the bike without keys.
The accused would ride the stolen bikes to their home town and sell it to the people on throwaway prices without documents .
The Banashankari police recovered the bikes stolen from in and around the city and remanded them to judicial custody and further investigations are on.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP West,Sandeep Patil,DCP South,Harish Pandey,ACP,TM Shivakumar,PI,Puttaswamy and his whole team for the exemplary and commendable job done by them in busting the inter-state bike lifting gang and recovered the stolen bikes from them a special reward will be given to whole team he added.
