The Byatarayanapura police on Wednesday arrested 30-year-old Pushpa who along with three of her associate who had abducted a civil engineer and extorted a ransom of Rs.25 lakh at gun point.
The accused has been identified as,Pushpa,30,and her associates.
Senior officer told reporters,acting on complaint special team was formed under the leadership of ACP Kodandarama T,a team headed by PI,Shankar Naik GK,and his crime team swung into action and with the technical inputs and police investigation skills the team zeroed in on all the accused.
During investigation it was found that the accused Pushpa who runs an NGO had lured the victim offered to get him government project using her high level contacts and invited him home on August 18 on the pretext of discussing about the projects.
The accused later tied the hands and legs, gagged his mouth and tortured him demanding ransom of Rs.4 crore .
The accused later brought down the ransom amount to Rs.25 lakh after several rounds of negotiation and released him.
Pushpa had even threatened the victim that she would file a rape charges against him,if he failed ot pay up or inform the police.
Battered and bruised victim when admitted to Victoria hospital for treatment,the doctors considering the nature of injuries informed the police.
The police questioned the victim and recorded his statement before tracking down Pushpa and her associate Rakesh, 27, recovered ₹ 20 lakh and air gun from them.
The Bytarayanapura police are now on the lookout for two more accused who are part of the plan and presently on the run he added.
