Former BDA Commissioner including 2 others booked for cheating woman realtor

The RT Nagar police have registered a case against former Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) Deputy Commissioner and two others in connection with allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs. 1.7 crore and cheating a woman realtor promising to get a compensation for acquired land .

Hema had been approaching BDA for a compensation amount for her 3 acre land in Hennur,K Narayanapura and Srirampura localities of Bengaluru, acquired for development of Arkavathi Layout in 2013.

Mahesh Kumar introduced her to Mohan Kumar, a taut in BDA to get the compensation using his clout with the officials.

Hema met Mohan Kumar at coffee shop in RT Nagar and he demanded Rs 50 lakh per acre commission .

Hema said in her complaint that she paid the amount in a phased manner from Jan 2020 to February 21 in phased manner.

But even after getting the money Shivaraju refused to help her stating that he had been transferred to Mysuru and not concerned with the case , while Mohan Kumar was threatening er with dire consequences .

Based on the complaint filed by Hema S.Raju, a resident of Jayanagar,the former BDA Deputy Commissioner Shivaraju,section superintendent Mahesh Kumar and broker Mohan Kumar were charged under cheating,criminal breach of trust and criminal intimidation on Tuesday.

Bengaluru Apartment fire: 2 flats damaged in Electronic City; residents unharmed

Electronic city sampigenagar two flats of an residential complex catch fire.inmates ran out to safety.Fire and emrgency service personnel putting out fire no one injured in the mishap.

A dog living in one of the apartments with a elderly woman started barking which alerted the residents to rush out to safety before the apartment caught fire in electronic city on Wednesday.

The mishap occurred in one of the apartments in four storeyed (ground plus three ) VMKAS Chalet residential complex situated in Sampige Nagar, electronic city phase II at around 2.46 PM.

A 74-year-old  Kathyayini, a cardiac patient,was at the apartment on the first floor with the dog while the rest of the family members have gone to work.

The dog started barking continuously , prompting the neighbours to come out to check and find the smoke billowing out from the apartment.

Soon they hurried and got Ms.Kathyayini out .
Meanwhile Umesh and Kumar,delivery boys from Reliance passing by noticed the fire coming out of the window from an apartment and aerated the fire control room.

Two fire tenders reached the spot at around 2.55 and pumped water to contain the fire.By then the whole apartment complex comprising of 106 units evacuated.

We managed to contain the fire and luckily no one was hurt,Nagesh PM, district fire officer, electronic city,told reporters.

It is suspected that the electric short circuit could be the cause of the fire but the team of FSL and electrical inspectorate visited the spot and probed, Mr. Nagesh added .

CM assures action for crop loss compensation

Survey to assess the crop losses is being done and action is being taken to disburse the compensation soon,Chief Minister,Basavaraj Bommai said here on Wednesday.

Speaking to media persons,on the sidelines of Bengaluru Technology Summit he acknowledged the huge loss suffered by farmers who had grown paddy,vegetables and fruits.

Survey to assess the crop losses is being conducted and measures would be initiated to pay compensation for farmers soon, he said.

Agriculture and Horticulte departments had been instructed to submit comprehensive report on the losses suffered.

Reacting to the letter written by leader of the opposition Siddaramaiah on crop loss compensation,Bommai said,action had been initiated to address the issue even before Siddaramaiah wrote to him.

CM advocates need to harness technology and innovation for the benefit of common man

Chief Minister,Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday called upon the global leaders in technology and innovation to come to Bengaluru, Karnatgaka which is already a technology hub to make it a global leader in innovation.He also advocated the need to harness technology for the benefit of common man.

Delivering his address at the inaugural of Bengaluru Tech Summit(BTS),Bommai said that Karnataka and Bengaluru is already in the forefront of technology as the state had the best of leaders like Kiran Mazumdar Shaw in Bio-technology and Kris Gopalakrishnan in Information Technology.

He called upon the global leaders in various domains from all over the world to come to Bengaluru, Karnataka as the state had the best ecosystem to nourish their talent.

“I call upon all the great leaders from all over the world to be a part of our ecosystem, be a leader, come out with flying colors, make Karnataka, Bengaluru which is already flying high to fly beyond the sky,” he said.

Elaborating on as to why Karnataka is the best destination for them, the Chief Minister said, Karnataka’s policies were well placed ahd forward looking.

“We have so many vision groups. Karnataka is leader in technology because we have leaders in all technology fields, Our real strength is the talented, high skilled human power.

It is also seen in institutions we have.There are more than 300 R&D institutions of International repute in high tech areas here. So have policies in place for high tech niche areas like Aerospace, Defence technology, Semiconductors, Artificial Intelligence, Renewable energy and of course IT BT.”

Lauding BTS’ contribution in Karnataka’s progress in technology, Bommai said, BTS had been a great success all along over the years. However the Chief Minister wanted greater accountability from the premier event for the common man.

“I want bigger, specific take aways. I want more accountability to BTS in terms of taking the technology to every human life, not only human life, to entire eco system.

Bommai wanted technology and innovation to be harnessed to make the future bright for the poor man at the bottom of the social pyramid, make his life comfortable.

Comparing Bengaluru to Swan, the vehicle of Goddess Saraswathi, in the domain of innovation, Bommai expressed the confidence that Bengaluru would soar to the heights of Kailasa Manasa Sarovar in the innovation domain. Bengaluru and Karnataka would emerge as the global leaders in innovation and technology. Even sky is not the limit it is beyond the sky for Bengaluru and Karnataka, he said.

Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s Atma Nirbhar Bharat, he said, New Karnataka would lead to New India, Make In Karnataka would lead to Make in India.

Road repair works in Bengaluru on war footing,”I will personally monitor it”; says CM Bommai

Repair and restoration of pothole riddled Bengaluru roads would be taken up on a war footing and “I myself will monitor the works after the end of current spell of showers in the city,” Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said here on Wednesday.

Speaking to media persons after participating in the Bengaluru Tech Summit he said,the continuous spell of rains in the city and other districts due to the depression in Bay of Bengal has left its trail of damage on Bengaluru roads.

“I have already held a meeting in this regard and issued necessary instructions for road repair works.”

Works would be taken up for comprehensive repair and improvement of roads in Bengaluru immediately after the current spell of rains.

Orders had been issued to utilise NDRF teams for relief works in low lying areas which have suffered damage to roads,houses and properties.

Four special teams of State Disaster Management Teams(SDRF) would be constituted for the purpose in Bengaluru,Bommai said.

Replying to a question on confusion between contractors who laid the roads and BBMP as to who should take up road repair works in the city following the rains, Bommai said,BBMP had been instructed to take up the works immediately if the concerned contractors fail to take up maintenance works immediately and deduct the cost incurred from the contractors later.

He also stated that the government had approved Rs.280cr for taking up Underground drainage works in 110 villages which were newly added to BBMP limits he added.

Karnataka maintains lead in economic growth: CM Basavaraja Bommai

Highlights of his address on the occasion:

1.After Covid 19, the Chief Ministers of various states have taken the view of promoting investment and reviving the economy.

  1. On the steps taken in the State after Covid 19 and the cooperation required by the Central Government.
  2. It was brought to the notice of the Union Minister that the state had higher foreign direct investment inflow during the last year as the state government did not cease during the Covid 19 pandemic and continued to take measures for infrastructure development and to attract investments.
  3. Provided information on measures such as Land Reforms Act Amendment, Labour Law Amendment,Affidavit based clearance process to create investor friendly eco-system.
  4. The state contributes immensely to the economy of the country, the state’s largest research and development sector and expert human resources are the main contributors to the state’s inflow of investment.
  5. To further enhance this, the Global Investor Meet is being held in 2022.
  6. Bidar and Kalaburagi airports in the state are operational and Shimoga, Raichur, Vijayapura and Karwar airports are expected to be operational by 2022.
  7. It was brought to the notice of the Minister that 9 Railway projects and 4 projects under Sagarmala were undertaken.
  8. Co-operation was sought from the Government of India on the following issues:

a. Transparent mechanism to share of leads about investors.

b. A clear policy on Forest and environmental clearance is required.

c. Special sectors need special incentives.

d. Townships are being developed in SEZs, which require amendments to the laws of urban local bodies and rural local bodies to have better infrastructure in these areas.

e. Banks have to be directed to finance new business sectors such as electric vehicles, med-tech and LOT.

f. Dispute resolution mechanisms need to be devised to quickly resolve disputes outside the court.

g. It has been requested to facilitate economic activities in the coastal area by relaxing in the regulation of the Coastal Regulation Zone.

h. Kalyana Karnataka needs additional incentives to attract investment in Karnataka.

i. A portion of the District Mining Fund should be handed over to the State Government. This will help to take up repair the damage to other districts’ infrastructure by transporting the ore.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday sought co-operation from the Centre regarding a transparent mechanism to share leads about investors, and stressed the need for a clear policy on forest and environmental clearance.

He said this while presenting the State’s view on the investment growth in the country during the video conference held by the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman with the Chief Ministers of various States, his office said in a statement.

Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai said that despite COVID pandemic Karnataka has managed to maintain lead in economic development being prominent contributor to country’s economy.

He was presenting the state’s view about the investment growth in the country during the the video conference held by the Union Finance Minister with the Chief Ministers of various states.

KSRTC wins award for ICU-on-wheels initiative

KSRTC’s initiative “Sarige Suraksha – ICU on Wheels” has won SKOCH Order Of Merit .

Sarige Suraksha, the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on wheels initiative by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation was recognised for the SKOCH-Order-of-Merit award during the 76th SKOCH State of Governance Summit held virtually.

During the Virtual 76th SKOCH State of Governance Summit the said award was presented to Shri Shivayogi C.Kalasad , IAS, Managing Director, KSRTC.

Receiving the award, KSRTC Managing Director Shivayogi C Kalasad said the Sarige Suraksha bus is serving 38 villages of Puttur division of Dakshina Kannada district.

About 4,900 people have used the service in the last 81 days. KSRTC had taken up many people and health-friendly practices to help society during Covid times,” he said.

The MD further dedicated the recognition to all health workers, drivers, conductors and the KSRTC staff.

Organisers appreciated the corporate social responsibility of KSRTC and mentioned “the noteworthy initiative” will be replicated in other states too.

Bagaluru Gram Panchayat President booked for insulting Dalit Vice-president

Controversial president of Bagaluru Gram Panchayat has been accused of insulting dalit vice president by washing the official chair with cow urine,cow dung and water,which she was using in his absence after assuming the charge.

Taking a strong objection to this incident,BJP SC Morcha state president,Chalavadi Narayanaswamy on Monday filed a complaint with the Bagaluru police seeking immediate arrest of J Munegowda and also demanded necessary protection to the victim.

In his complaint Mr.Narayanaswamy said that the accused Munegowda,representing congress party has been disqualified from the post following a complaint of embezzlement of funds by him through a fake bank account.

After his disqualification,Vice President Yashodamma assumed charges to run the office .

However three days after his disqualification,the accused approached the court challenging the disqualification and got a stay order .

He returned to the office to assumed the charges and found that his chair has been used by a dalit woman brought the chair outside the office and cleaned it .

The incident was video recorded and was circulated on social media prompting the dalit community leaders and the party members to swung into action to take up legal action.

This incident is a classic example on how the congress party treating dalits,Mr,Narayanaswamy said adding that even the opposition party leaders made a statement against Dalits in Sindagi and later refuted he added.

One held by Kalasipalya Police,Rescued 380 ‘Endangered’ Indian Star Tortoises in Bengaluru from illegal wildlife trade

The West Division police of Kalasipalya Police have arrested one persons who was in possession of 401 Indian star tortoise in his possession and was trying to export to other state.

Senior officer told reporters,Acting on a tip off, the Kalasipalya police inspector and his team conducted a raid and took Muthu Hamad Meera into custody. 

The police obtained the court permission and handed over the 380 tortoises to the Bannerghatta national park for rehabilitation.

Three days after 170 star tortoises were rescued which were abandoned in two bags,the Kalasipalya police on Tuesday caught a man with 401 star tortoises which he was trying to smuggle to Chennai by a private transport .

The accused Muthu Hamad Meera was caught red handed on Monday evening while he was trying to board the private bus to Chennai a total of 401 Indian star tortoises were recovered, which were kept in two boxes by a person.Of these 21 were found dead and another 20 in serious condition.

A team from Bannerghatta National Park arrived here and was taking measures to save those in serious condition.

On Saturday,alert staff of the transport company rescued 170 star tortoises stuffed in two bags and being taken to Chennai.The two persons who owned the bags soon escaped before the police could reach the spot . 

The accused has been booked under wildlife act taken into custody to ascertain the source of the tortoises.

Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP West,Soumendhu Mukherjee,DCP West,Dr Sanjeev M Patil,ACP P Ravikumar,PI,Chethan kumar ML and his whole staff has been appreciated for the commendable job done by them in nabbing the notorious person who was trying to smuggle Indian Star tortoise to Chennai and rescued 380 Tortoise from him a suitable reward will be given to the team he added.

Hennur cops cracked businessman murder case arrested 6 including prime accused after shot at

The Hennur police have opened fire at the 30-year-old murder case accused a history sheeter who was trying to escape from police clutches after attacking police officer on the railway tracks in kasturi nagar in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The accused Raghu,a history sheeter having many criminal cases pending against him was arrested for hacking his friend turned foe to death on Nagavara Outer ring road in broad daylight on November 13.

The deceased S Shreedhara,41,owner of a garment factory and resident of Ramaswamy palya.

Senior officer as,DCP East,Dr SD Sharanappa with other Officers rushed to the spot dog squad with FSL experts were pressed into action.

Special teams were led by DCP East Dr SD Sharanappa under the leadership of PI, Vasanth and his crime staff swung into action.

The crime team visited the spot and collected the information from public and after analysing CCTV footage and other technical inputs the team zeroed in on six person and detained them for questioning.

During questioning all the six accused confessed the crime and the accused revealed that the deceased and both are friends.

On November 13, Sreedhara was going in a car when Raghu and five of his associates intercepted Sreedhara on Nagavara outer ring road .

Sreedhara got down from the car and tried to escape but the accused chased him and hacked him to death.

Investigations revealed that Raghu and Sreedhara were friends who had differences over a trivial row .

Sreedhara had warned Raghu with dire consequences following which Raghu ganged up with his associates and killed Sreedhara.

Based on the investigations,the police arrested Raghu along with his associates,Mahesh,Harish, Sujith Nayar,Prabhu and Nelson.

On Tuesday a team of police led by Inspector Vasanth escorted the prime accused Raghu to recover the murder weapon where he was hiding.

Soon after reaching the spot Raghu attacked and pushed PSI,Ningaraju,who was escorting him,in a bid to escape.

Inspector Vasanth warned him by firing in the air as the accused dint heed to his warning and again tried to attack the PSI,and Inspector Vasanth to save himself and protect the staff he later shot at his right leg to stop him from fleeing.

Both Raghu and Ningaraju were admitted to Bowring hospital for treatment and are out of danger.

The Hennur police have registered another case against Raghu for assaulting the police officer while on duty and further investigation is on.

Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP East,S Murugan, DCP East,Dr SD Sharanappa,ACP,Banaswadi, Sub-Division,Ningappa B Sakkiri,PI,Vasanth,PSI, Ningaraju and other crime staff who were part of cracking the case and a special appreciation to PI, Ningaraju and PSI, Ningaraju who played on their life and nabbed the history sheeter who was trying to flee after opening fire at his right leg and for the brave and exemplary work done by them a special reward will be given to them he added.
