Don’t precipitate MBBS rural service issue, Karnataka HC tells govt

July 1, 2021 by Nasheman

BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court directed the State Government not to precipitate the matter for two weeks pursuant to the notifications issued with regard to online registration of undergraduates who have completed MBBS during 2021 for compulsory rural service. However, this interim order is confined to 184 MBBS candidates who have approached the court and the government is at liberty to proceed with implementation of notifications issued over online registration with regard to other candidates, except petitioners, the court added. Justice Sachin Shankar Magadum passed the interim order after hearing the petition filed by Dr N Prarthana and 183 others.

The petitioners have challenged the notification issued by the state government on June 8 and a corrigendum dated June 17, asking the undergraduates who have completed their MBBS on government seats during the year 2021 to register online for rural posting. The petitioners have further contended that the notifications issued by the State Government is discriminatory in nature, as it excludes other undergraduates of the same batch and previous batches. The notification is contrary to Karnataka Compulsory Service by Candidates Completed Medical Courses Act, the petitioners further alleged.

BSY meets Guv Vajubhai Vala raises eyebrows

July 1, 2021 by Nasheman

BENGALURU: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa called on Governor Vajubhai Vala impromptu on Wednesday evening, raising eyebrows in political circles. While Raj Bhavan said it was a courtesy call and the CM claimed he was visiting Vala to check on his health after the eye surgery, it came at a time when BJP leaders continue to meet party central leaders and when speculation is rife that a cabinet reshuffle is on the cards.

After the meeting with the Governor, Yediyurappa expressed confidence that he will continue in his post for the next two years. “I have the responsibility to ensure good work for the State for the next two years. I am entrusted with the challenge of bringing the party back to power with 130 seats after two years. I give this assurance to the people and cadres of BJP,” he said. “The governor gave me a patient hearing on various issues. We didn’t discuss politics but about the State’s welfare and Covid management. He has appreciated our government’s work and has given suggestions,” he added.

In Mysuru, BJP state vice-president and Yediyurappa’s son Vijayendra claimed that the leadership change is a “closed chapter”. He said, “BJP state in-charge Arun Singh has clearly said Yediyurappa has given good administration and will complete his full term as chief minister. There is no need to discuss it again and again.”

BJP insiders have maintained that Vala is the BJP central leadership’s point person for communicating with the State government remotely.  Wednesday’s meeting too is being viewed as Yediyurappa receiving a feedback from the governor and conveying his stand over recent developments in the party to the central leadership through Vala. Sources close to the CM  said that the cabinet reshuffle is being considered later in July or August when Yediyurappa completes two years in office.

BSY backs Suresh on SSLC examination Sudhakar on backfoot

June 30, 2021 by Nasheman

BENGALURU: As a major lack of coordination among State cabinet ministers over Covid-related issues came out in the open, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Tuesday launched into firefighting yet again. He clarified that the decision to hold SSLC exams was not unilateral.

The CM’s defence of Primary and Secondary Education Minister Suresh Kumar was in view of Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar’s public statement that he wasn’t aware of the decision to hold board exams for SSLC students. Suresh Kumar on Monday announced dates for the exams and within hours, Sudhakar said his colleague hadn’t spoken to him about it, suggesting that the decision may have been taken unilaterally.“Suresh Kumar held discussions with me before deciding on SSLC exam dates. The decision was taken only after a thorough discussion, keeping the welfare of students in mind. This wasn’t a unilateral decision. It is unnecessary to create confusion,” tweeted Yediyurappa from his official handle.

This public declaration comes as an embarrassment to Sudhakar, who is already sulking over being purportedly sidelined in key decisions. Ever since Deputy Chief Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan was made the Chief of Covid Task Force, tensions have been simmering between the two leaders over key issues. While Sudhakar has been pushing for a strict lockdown, Ashwath Narayan wants opening up of all sectors with norms. The two ministers have been taking contradictory views on vaccines, members in the expert committee, medicines, oxygen augmentation etc.

BJP sources said that tensions came to a boiling point at a closed-door meeting a month ago when Covid cases were at a peak. Ashwath Narayan, along with other ministers, allegedly blamed Sudhakar’s “inept” handling of the situation for the rise in cases. Sources added that the two ministers shouted at each other and the Chief Minister had to intervene to pacify them. The sources said apparent sidelining of Sudhakar by other ministers has also sparked off a ‘newcomers’ versus ‘old timers’ tiff. Sources close to Sudhakar said that he has been trying to take up the issue of his colleagues undermining his authority with Yediyurappa and BJP central leader ship , but to no avail.

Instances that have fuelled tensions between ministers

  •  Appointment of Dr CN Ashwath Narayan as head of the Covid task force
  •  Opening of theatres, swimming pools and malls during the pandemic
  •  Vaccine supply and stock
  •  Appointment of members for new expert committee on the Covix third wave
  •  Appointment of S M Jayakara as the interim vice-chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences

Jarkiholi meets top BJP, RSS leaders in Delhi, lobbies to get back ministerial berth

June 30, 2021 by Nasheman

BELAGAVI: Notwithstanding the assurance given by the BJP leadership that he will be re-inducted into the state cabinet once he gets a clean chit in the sex CD case, former water resources minister Ramesh Jarkiholi landed in Delhi on Tuesday afternoon and met several BJP and RSS leaders in the evening.

Sources close to Jarkiholi said the latter is not ready to rely on either Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa or the party leaders in Karnataka and that is why he rushed to Delhi in haste to meet the top leadership to make sure that he is re-inducted into the cabinet at the earliest.

After a meeting with his brothers and family in Gokak on Monday, Jarkiholi had decided to wait for some days without meeting any of the leaders until the government filed a B-report to close the CD case. However, Jarkiholi changed his mind suddenly on Tuesday and rushed to Delhi.

He met former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the residence of a senior RSS leader in the capital and held a 45-minute meeting before speaking to media persons in the evening. He said he had been backstabbed by three BJP leaders in Karnataka and that he would teach them a fitting lesson.
While denying reports that he would resign as MLA, Jarkiholi said there was no question of quitting the assembly seat.

Jarkiholi did not disclose more on his meeting with Fadnavis but sources said he would not stop until the party helped him get back into the state cabinet.

“Jarkiholi is expected to meet some other top party leaders in Delhi to get the CD case closed as soon as possible. A court hearing into the CD case is scheduled to come up in Karnataka High Court in a few days,” sources added.

The Gokak MLA is in touch with most of the BJP leaders, including Fadnavis, who were involved in the ‘Operation Lotus’ to help bring 17 other party MLAs into the BJP to help BS Yediyurappa form the government.

Former BJP Corporator Rekha Kadiresh Murder case:Sister-In-Law,Nephew Sent to Police Custody till 2nd July by Court

June 29, 2021 by Nasheman

Pramesh Jain

The West division police taken Mala and her son Arul into custody till July 2 to probe in detail about the reason behind the gruesome murder of Rekha Kadiresh in front of her office on Thursday.

Senior officer told media persons,Mala and Arul are prime accused in the case that gave supari to Peter,to eliminate Rekha.Rekha was growing politically strong and even her name was proposed by the BJP for the upcoming BBMP elections.

Mala wanted to gain the control of area politically and wanted her daughter in law to contest the election, but Rekha was the major hurdle .

Rekha was not only growing strong in the area but also ignoring Mala and Kadiresh family which was one of the reason behind her murder.

Mala realized that Rekha had even sidelined her close confidant Peter completely, she approached Peter and offered Supari to eliminate promising huge sum of money and also promised to bear legal expenses.

The police team who suspected Mala’s role in the murder began to gather details from the neighbours in the area and after gathering evidence the team arrested her after confirming her involvement .

While one team of police is grilling Mala and Arul, the other teams continue to track down other accused who were part of the conspiracy and execution of murder.

BJP’s NR Ramesh submitted a written complaint against Atush to interrogate him in the case as we suspect he is involved in the murder supporting financially to kill the Former BJP corporator Rekha Kadiresh he said in his letter.

Cops to Re-open Rowdy Sheet against Peter :

The flower garden area in cottonpet police station limits where the Former Councillor Rekha Kadiresh was hacked to death in broad daylight had a over two decade history of bloody gang wars and series of murder which the police failed to contain.

Though police acted swiftly and cracked the murder and arrested the accused the fact that gruesome murder of Rekha,a woman former  councillor in broad day light, has brought some embarassing moments for the police.

The area is situated behind Vinayaka Theatre on Mysore road, surrounded by four police stations including CCB head office with the Organised Crime Wing, which failed to contain the rowdy activities at its backyard .

Admitting the failure on their part a senior police officer told reporters, that the murder of Rekha Kadiresh is hard to prevent since family members involved.

However the police failed to notice the growing resentment between Rekha and others, due to a weak intelligence network and improper documentation which is basic to keep tabs on the anti-social elements and gangs.

Another significant factor about bad policing is  that the police revoked rowdy-sheet  against Peter in 2018 despite there were half a dozen cases of murder, robbery and a assault cases pending against him.

After the death of Kadiresh,Rekha kept Peter away and did not support him financially.Upset about this Peter got into his old drug peddling business to eke out a living before he was offered a supari allegedly by Mala to eliminate Rekha,a police officer, said .

With the murder case of Rekha and Peter’s arrest, the police are going to reopen rowdy sheet against him again.

The flower garden area with majority of the  pockets like Anjinappa garden,Bakshi garden, Binny mill, peer boundary,Tippu nagar and  Anandapura has been dominated by gangs for the last two decades, running drug peddling and illicit liquor business .

It started in 2000 with Alaimani,a notorious gangster who was killed in an encounter for a series of robberies, rapes and peddling .

There are Jhopdi Rajendra,Garden Mani,Surya Appu,Surya Appu,Guppa,Kencha Muruga who attacked each other in a bid to dominate the area and killed each other .

While some of them including Aatush and  Kadiresh succeeded and made their career in politics .

The police having good knowledge and documented every gang and gangsters, they failed to prevent attacks and murders occured in the city every time .

Except the  murder of Garden Mani case,no murder cases or any criminal cases reported in the area and charge sheets gets conviction,

Police security stepped up in the area following the murder with police intensified patroling and trying to revoke the local intelligence network to gather advance information and tracking the habitual offenders to regain the control over the area.

This exercise should be done as routine and tough police officers should be deployed to tackle the gangs and withstand political pressures he added.
