Karnataka CM Yediyurappa, Health Minister appeal to people above 45 years to get vaccinated

BENGALURU: As the state geared up to vaccinate everyone above 45 years of age from Thursday, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar appealed to the eligible people to make use of this protective cover against coronavirus.

Health Minister Sudhakar too tweeted, “As we begin vaccinating all citizens aged above 45 years from today, 5,500 vaccination sites will be operational across the state including 650 private and 4,850 government facilities.”

According to him, 1.5 lakh doses of vaccine is supplied to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, the civic body, which is distributed to about 600 sites across the state capital.

The Health Department said in a statement that COVID- 19 vaccination will continue at all the primary health centres, community health centres, Taluk hospitals, district hospitals, medical colleges and private hospitals as already being done.

It added that Karnataka has in stock 13.5 lakh doses of Covishield vaccine and 1.5 lakh doses of Covaxin vaccine and it has been supplied to all the cold chain points across the districts as per their requirement.

The government of India has assured the state that additional vaccine doses will be supplied regularly in the coming days as per daily coverage, the department added.

The vaccination drive covering everyone above 45 years of age started at a time when there is an alarming rise in cases in Karnataka.

The state reported 4,225 fresh cases including 26 deaths on a single day on Wednesday.

No impact of sex scandal on the bypolls: Karnataka CM Yediyurappa

Belagavi,: The ‘sex CD scandal’ allegedly involving former minister Ramesh Jarkiholi will not have any impact on the coming bypolls, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said on Tuesday as he asked him to join the campaigning.

He also said an impartial probe was on, in connection with the scandal to bring out the truth.

“Our Law Minister Basavaraj Bommai is getting the case inquired impartially…it is known that unnecessary allegations have been made against Ramesh Jarkiholi, it is also being discussed that the allegations have been made with a malicious intent..let’s wait and see,” Yediyurappa said.

“We are ready to face everything within the framework of law..”It (scandal) will not have any impact on the bypolls.

I will ask Ramesh Jarkiholi to come and take part in the campaigning,” he added.

Yediyurappa was in Belagavi to take part in the filing of nominations of BJP’s Belgaum Lok Sabha candidate Mangala Suresh Angadi.

Jarkiholi, who was Water Resources Minister, resigned on March 3, a day after news channels aired a video clip purportedly showing him getting intimate with a woman.

While Jarkiholi has repeatedly claimed his innocence and that the video was “fake”, the woman,said to be featured in the clip, has accused him of sexually “using” her, cheating and threatening her after promising a government job.

Belgaum Lok Sabha seat in Belagavi, which is the home district of Ramesh Jarkiholi, is going to the bypolls along with Maski and Basavakalyan assembly segments on April 17.

Mangala Suresh Angadi is the wife of late Union Minister Suresh Angadi, whose death due to COVID-19 in September last year, has necessitated the by-election.

Karnataka sex-scandal: Victim woman appears before court to record statement

Bengaluru: In the latest development in the Karnataka sex-scandal, the victim woman on Tuesday reportedly appeared before the 24th ACMM Court in the city to record her statement in the case.

The woman was brought to the court in a car and is currently recording her statement in the court, reports added.

The woman’s lawyer KN Jagadish Kumar told reporters that the woman arrived at the court around 3:00 pm on Tuesday and the judge was recording her statement.

He further added that the woman was mentally stable and was recording the injustice done to her in the statement.

Media reports also suggested that a typist and a judge were present with the woman and were recording her statement.

The Special Investigation Team on Monday questioned Ramesh Jarkiholi for over four hours in connection with both the cases in which he is involved.

The SIT officials questioned Ramesh about his allegation in the Sadashivanagar case where he accused that somone was trying to blackmail him.

Another team of officials questioned him about the woman’s allegation accusing ramesh of sexual exploitation and cheating her on the pretext of offering job.

This is the third time Ramesh has been questioned by SIT.

Most of the questions Ramesh denied having knowledge despite SIT confront him with the evidence they have gathered in the course of investigation.

High drama prevailed as members of congress party staged protest in front of technical cell in Audugodi where Ramesh was being questioned.

The protestors holding undergarments shouted slogans against Ramesh demanding the police to arrest him.The police detained over 50 persons and brought the situation under control.

Meanwhile,Advocate representing woman who have approached Chief Metropolitan magistrate court seeking permission to give statement before the magistrate.They are yet to get the permission .

Advocate representing Ramesh,Sham Sundar said that woman can not give statement under 164 CrPC on her own.

There is a procedure,the IO should confirm her identity and take her to magistrate for the procedure.

Ramesh Jarkiholi CD row: SIT Serves 8th Notice to victim to appear before them for questioning:

Soon after questioning the Ramesh Jarkiholi on several rounds,the SIT on Monday issued another notice seeking cooperation from her.

This is the 8th time SIT has served notice to the alleged victim who is hiding at undisclosed location from past 28 days.

The notice was issued to seek her assistance in investigation and to inform that desired security is ready to be provided,sources,said.

The woman caste aspersions on SIT stating that the officials are siding with the accused and ignored to provide security.

She also accused SIT forced to get the statement from her parents which is favouring the accused.

However SIT officials said that they are ready to record her statement according to her convenience and ready to provide security of her choice.

Meanwhile a city based lawyer Geetha Mishra has moved to High court filing a PIL to quash SIT investigation as she stated that the SIT has been formed illegally without any gazzete notification by the government so she has moved to High Court for quashing of SIT said the Lawyer to reporters.

After a high drama on Monday,Advocate Jagadish Kumar claimed that the court had granted permission to record the statement. However senior counsel stated that it is not possible for the the court to grant permission to record her statement under section 164 CrPC as it is not as per the rules.

Bike lifter arrested by Annapoorneshwarinagar police, 5 stolen bikes Worth Rs.2.5 Lakhs Recovered.

The West Division police of Annapoorneshwari nagar police on monday arrested a 19 year old bike thief and recovered five stolen bikes worth Rs 2.5 lakh from him.

The accused has been identified as,Naveen Kumar resident of D group employees Layout.

Senior officer told media persons,a bike stolen complaint was registered in Annapoorneshwarinagar police station in which complainant stated that some unknown person stolen a bike parked outside the house on February 14.

Based on the complaint Inspector Srinivas VT and team swung into action and after analysing CCTV footage in the area the team got a vital clue about the suspect.

And the team was on search for the bike thief received a tip off that the suspect is seen in the area based on tip off the team zeroed in one person by name Naveen.

He was picked up for questioning.A detailed questioning led him to confess the crime and solved five bike theft case registered in various police station and based on his statement the team recovered 5 stolen bikes worth Rs.2.5 Lakhs from him.The police recovered the bikes and investigating further.

Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP West,Soumendhu Mukherjee,DCP West,Dr Sanjeev M Patil,ACP,UD Krishna Kumar,PI,Srinivas VT and his whole team who has successfully nabbed the bike thief and Recovered 5 stolen bikes from him a suitable reward will be given to the team for the exemplary work done by them he added.
