Will it be third time lucky for BBMP standing committee elections?

December 30, 2019 by Nasheman

BBMP officials said that the three-day mourning for Pejawar Swamiji’s death will not affect the elections

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) office in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: Will the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) 12 Standing Committee elections happen on Monday or not? If BBMP sources are to be believed, the answer is, 80 percent ‘no’.This is because, so far, no party-wise meetings have been conducted and no names have been discussed too.

BBMP officials said that the three-day mourning for Pejawar Swamiji’s death will not affect the elections. The absence of BBMP Regional Commissioner Harsha Gupta, will also have no effect as Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board Chairman, Tushar Girinath, is holding additional charge.

“There have been no meetings and no mention of names too. None of the councilors visit the BBMP head office. If the elections aren’t held even this time, then it will be the third time in a row and the first time in the history of BBMP. Looking at the present condition, 80 per cent chances are that elections will get cancelled and postponed once again,” a BBMP source said.

To ensure that elections are held, at least 11 nominations must be filed for the 12 posts. There are 198 councilors and filing of nominations is from 8.30 am to 9.30 am.

Hence, if till 9.30 am, the minimum nominations are not filed, then the elections will get postponed once again.

The first time, they were postponed was when the Mayor and Deputy Mayor elections were held. The second time, they were postponed on December 4, just ahead of the bypolls, when not even one candidate filed a nomination. The 12 standing committees are Taxation and Finance, Town Planning and Improvement, Public Health, Major Public Works, Ward Level Works, Education, Appeals, Accounts, Social Justice and Welfare, Horticulture, Markets and Establishments and Administrative Reforms and their term ended on December 4.

After political row, now DK Shivakumar’s Christ statue project runs into land issue in Karnataka

December 28, 2019 by Nasheman

Revenue Minister R Ashok says it is gomala land; govt puts project on hold, BJP leaders slam Congress MLA

Senior Congress leader DK Shivakumar

BENGALURU:  Former Minister DK Shivakumar’s project to have the country’s tallest statue of Jesus Christ has landed in a controversy.

Two days after the Congress leader laid the foundation stone for a 114-ft statue in his home constituency, Kanakapura, the Karnataka government has raised objections and sought a report from the Ramanagara Deputy Commissioner.

On Friday, Revenue Minister R Ashok told reporters that the 10-acre land on which the project is coming up is ‘gomala land’ (government land reserved for cattle grazing) and it cannot be allowed to be used for any other purpose.

“Four years ago, the Harobele Trust was registered and had taken up Kapali betta for development. DK Shivakumar is part of the trust. Since this is government land, one cannot gift it to others. We have learnt that Shivakumar gifted it to build the statue. I have sought a report from the DC of Ramanagara in this regard. The project will be kept on hold till we get clarity,’’ he said.

Many BJP leaders, including ministers KS Eshwarappa, CT Ravi, MPs Ananth Kumar Hegde and Prathap Simha, slammed the Congress leader and termed it an attempt to please Congress president Sonia Gandhi, as he is lobbying for the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president’s post.

RDPR Minister K S Eshwarappa said, “They (Congress) are opposing building a Ram temple in Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Rama, and are building the tallest statue of Jesus Christ. This is to please their party leader.”

Shivakumar said the foundation of democracy is equality.

“I believe in all religions. In my constituency, there are people from all castes and communities. I don’t need to learn lessons from the people who want to damage Dr Ambedkar’s Constitution,’’ he said.

He also pointed out that it was the coalition government that had approved the project to build statues of the Siddaganga Mutt seer and Adhichunchungiri swami, both in Ramanagara district.

On the land controversy, Shivakumar said he had made a promise to Christians two years ago, which he is fulfilling now.

“When I was going through a bad time, these people, cutting across caste and religion, prayed for me. In Harobele church, 36 people are working for the cause of Kannada,’’ he said.

Shivakumar said he had got approval from the government and all the papers are in order.

“Devotees are giving stones to build the statue. There is no issue with the land,” he claimed, adding that he had also got land to construct temples and even given his own land for an educational institution.

Notorious inter-state Burglar and his aide arrested Pistol, gold,Silver,Worth of Rs.52 lakhs recovered,11 cases detected by CCB.

December 25, 2019 by Nasheman

Parmesh jain

The CCB sleuths of OCW wing, has arrested a notorious inter-state professional robber and his associate and have recovered 1 Pistol,1 kg Gold,6 kg,Silver,1 Alto car and other valuables worth over Rs.52 lakhs recovered from them.

The accused has been identified as,Sammu alias Basheer,35,of,devasandra in KR Puram and his associate Sajid Ali baig,35,of,Benson town.

The police have recovered over 1 kg gold,6 kg silver, one pistol,7 live rounds,1 alto car and other valuables worth over Rs.52 lakhs.

Sandeep Patil,Joint CP,Crime, said, the accused would rob victims by threatening them at gun point. The gun which they have bought from Bihar has also been recovered and one other accused has managed to escape with their arrest totally 11 cases traced. In last one month,CCB has recovered 3.2 kg gold and detected 35 house theft cases he added.

Bengaluru city police commissioner,Bhaskar Rao,said,CCB,have been successfully been able to nab offenders who have broken into homes and removed lot of gold and silver jewellery.Recovery of a property is a very tricky job.Because our officers have to undergo lot of risk in different places in different language and under different social circumstances.

I am proud that my officers and men, especially ACP,Nagaraj and his team they went to different places and recovered them. But what I am astounded is that earlier the property offenders used to take this jewels to jewellery shop get it assist or sale it for a lesser rate and then they used to bargain but now they have become more experts. You can see that they have purchased a ornament melting machine so the moment they commit offence they bring it within their own environment they are able to melt this ornaments.

Then carefully weigh it in electric electronic sophisticated type so they are becoming more and more professional so we have been to nab that and seized the equipment also. But the bottom of this what i want to caution the citizens is that why do you keep your property in such a careless manner, neither your front door is secured nor your rear door is secured.I have seen that the thefts in the apartment is less because apartments are quite secured there is a watchman, there is perimeter security and there is a single door etc etc..

From Bengaluru city police we want to organize 8 different exhibitions in 8 different zones of bengaluru city, where we want to have this conducted on police ground itself. So that the vendors do not have to pay exorbitant exhibition fees.We desire to have vendors from CCTV,Private security,Safe, front door locks, and access control and GPS,etc so that people get educated about this and buy sophisticated equipment.

These offenders have also become so confident because now they know where the cupboard keys are kept, either below the pillow or below the bed,or above the cupboard,or inside the prayer room. These are the places these are all stereotypical places where people keep.

Now we have got several advanced equipment like face reading doors, then finger print doors, then number coded doors etc.I would urge people to use more technology to keep their things safer rather than adopting old technology or banks are there see how much of them lakhs to together jewellery if you are not using please keep it in the bank and banks are being crying that our lockers are empty.

The accused are from Bengaluru itself, one of them has a professional he has been in and out 30 times, what I feel very disappointed is that with so much of difficulty we catch this people and they ease with which they get bail. And bail is become a matter of rights and human rights are riding all over.Human rights of the offender becomes more important than the victim.

We are not able to answer people when the same person comes and commits why are you not arresting him,why are you not putting behind bars people perhaps have to much expectation from the police they think we can do anything but we have lot of limitation regards law is concerned.

We cannot take unilateral action we have to send this person on bail comes back and commit the same offence sometimes these people have been released on self bail in 392 cases that is armed robbery they have been released on bail and they are not available for any process they are not available for any warrant and if the trial is being taken and we are able to get conviction.Only convictions can bring punishment can bring fear in the mind of the offenders, and finally Bengaluru police commissioner,Bhaskar Rao,has appreciated Joint CP,Crime,Sandeep Patil,DCP,Kuldeep R Jain,ACP,SR Nagaraj,PIs,as,Keshavmurthy,Murugendraiah, and his team as,Mohan,Arun, and others, and a reward of twenty thousand will be given to the team he added.

Bengaluru is hub of protests, both anti and for Citizenship Amendment Act

December 23, 2019 by Nasheman

The pro-CAA rally saw Tejasvi Surya and social activist Chakravarthy Sulibele blaming the Congress and Pakistan for misleading the public over the implications of the new Act.

BENGALURU: The state capital has become the nerve centre of protests and rallies over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) with such events taking place almost every day.

While Sunday morning witnessed the first pro-CAA rally, organised by ‘India For CAA’ with Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya in attendance along with 2,800 others, another protest against the CAA in the afternoon saw a unique approach. Artists and musicians congregated along with people from various sections of society under the banner ‘Plural India, Strong India.

The pro-CAA rally saw Tejasvi Surya and social activist Chakravarthy Sulibele blaming the Congress and Pakistan for misleading the public over the implications of the new Act. The ‘Plural India, Strong India’ rally saw Rajeev Rajagopal, the percussionist from the Thermal and a Quarter band, and several other artists and musicians carrying a message against CAA through music and art. Both rallies took place near Town Hall in the heart of Bengaluru.

On Monday morning, the Muslim jamaats have called for a mega rally at Quddus Saheb Eidgah grounds near Cantonment railway station to protest against CAA and about a lakh people are expected to congregate at the venue.

CAA protests: Freedom under attack, says Opposition

December 20, 2019 by Nasheman

Newly-elected MLA from Shivajinagar Rizwan Arshad, who was detained at Town Hall, said the power of the people is stronger than that of the people in power.

BENGALURU: Opposition party leaders, including former chief minister Siddaramiah, on Thursday slammed the police for their action against protesters. Siddaramaiah said police must act “sensibly and responsibly”.

He made his stand through a series of tweets. ‘’Though police force are acting on the behest of ruling dispensation, I strongly urge them to be Indians and humans first. Act sensibly and act responsibly!!”
“Be it Mahatma Gandhi or Bhagat Singh, Nehru or Sardar Patel, all freedom fighters, and many others, fought for Independence, in spite of British regressive police actions. More the policing, Stronger the Protest. History is a great teacher,’’ he posted.

Siddaramaiah warned Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa that he was being used as a pawn to fulfil the agenda of the RSS. “You are falling into their trap. They are coming for you. Be aware, Be watchful!! Strengthen the forces that fight against fascism!!’’ he added in his twitter post.

The official handle of the Karnataka Congress said that Section 144 was imposed by the Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru, only till Saturday. “What nuisance is this government machinery is blatantly misused, Police should act with common sense,’’ it stated.

Senior Congress leader Dinesh Gundu Rao also condemned the BJP government’s action in Karnataka. “Imposition of Section 144 was unnecessary. We are witnessing the subjugation of people’s rights by the fascist regime of Modi and Shah. This CAA is not acceptable to the people of India,’’ he said. He warned Shah that he was taking India on to a path which will undo what has been built over decades. “Our country is being torn asunder with crores of people being treated as anti-nationals. Please take back your CAA,’’ he added.

Former DyCM G Parameshwara urged the Bengaluru police commissioner to respect protesters who have assembled to express their dissent peacefully. “Remember, you are responsible for the protection of protesters too. Let us maintain peace & integrity. Don’t silence Bengaluru’s voice!’’ he said.

Newly-elected MLA from Shivajinagar Rizwan Arshad, who was detained at Town Hall, said the power of the people is stronger than that of the people in power. Former CM HD Kumaraswamy said it is known that the BJP does not respect the Constitution. “It should have allowed public to protest peacefully. Democracy is based on people’s vote. Both the central and state governments have failed to maintain law and order. The present situation looks like an emergency,’’ he said.

Unofficial emergency: CAA protestors bundled into autos, cars, buses!

December 19, 2019 by Nasheman

Section 144 been imposed for fear of peaceful protests. Because Karnataka is a BJP-ruled state, it is obvious that the law that prohibits “unlawful assembly” of four or more people is being misused here in the name of public safety. Today, several people who are against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) violated the prohibitory orders. The result? They were bundled into cars, buses and autos to prevent the protests from happening. The protestors were taken to marriage halls and kept under custody as jails could not accommodate so many of them. One legal website had this to say about Section 144: “Joining unlawful assembly armed with deadly weapon. Whoever, being armed with any deadly weapon, or with anything which, used as a weapon of offence, is likely to cause death, is a member of an unlawful assembly, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.”The CAA is anti-constitutional and goes against the grain of the idea of India. Several world bodies have voiced their concern, including students from reputable institutions like Harvard and Stanford. While the BJP says that Indian Muslims will not be affected, it’s just rhetoric as the minorities will have to prove their origins. With 14% of India’s population comprising Muslims, and most below the poverty line, it is widely known that they do not have their family tree carved out, as their grand fathers and their great grand fathers do not have their birth certificates. Their ration card, voter ID, passport and Aadhaar will be of no help to them now.To prove citizenship, this process of queuing up and registering for NRC applies to every religion in India. Remember the long lines at ATMs and banks during demonetisation? Well, it could well happen again to everyone, religion no bar, if NRC becomes a reality across India. However, non-Muslims will be forgiven for lack of documents and given the citizenship, no questions asked.

Nasheman News

Bengaluru : PRIMECARE flags of Embrace Fertility Center, which is dedicated to excellence in Fertility care. The state-of-the-art Embrace Fertility Center with highly skilled clinicians offers all services related to infertility treatment for both men and women, including counselling, ultrasound monitoring, male and female fertility evaluation, intrauterine insemination (IUI), in vitro fertilization (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and more. Our special effort is always to help you to have your own baby out of your eggs and sperms, we do not advocate donor eggs / sperms / or surrogacy.

We provide female-friendly IVF treatment that delivers better health outcomes for mothers and babies. Our pioneering approach to IVF focuses on the quality of eggs, rather than quantity.

Our vision is to promote fully proven fertility treatment which offers women the best chance of success and reduces the burden associated to infertility.

“Being childless is emotionally and physically unpleasant and it is very lonely journey of life.” According to the Indian Society of Assisted Reproduction, 10-14% of married couples in India face infertility. Nearly 27.5 million couples who want to conceive suffer from infertility.

Some of the causes for infertility are lifestyle factors, increasing marital age, rising alcohol and tobacco consumption and obesity. Clinical factors are increasing prevalence of medical conditions such as women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), tubal factors, endometriosis and abnormalities of ovaries, fallopian tubes, or the uterus and men with sperm transport disorders, azoospermia, oligoasthenoteratozoospermia, hypospermia etc.

It is surprising to know that only 45% of couples visit a doctor when they are trying to conceive; only 1% of infertile couples seek treatment. And to make matters worse, 55% of women are not even aware about ovulation tracking products like fertility gadget and 75% of men don’t.

Dr. Rizwana Iqbal, Director, Embrace Fertility Centre by Primecare said, “Infertility is becoming rampant even amongst young married couples. It is mostly due to ovulation disorder in women and abnormal semen parameters in men. Even diabetes and hypertension plays a very pivotal role in both men and women. Furthermore, lifestyle induced disorders such as obesity and smoking are contributing towards high infertility rates. In addition the rising trend of marrying late, women fail to keep in mind that when they cross 35 years of age, their fertility potential gradually starts declining.

If a couple has been struggling for a child without success for more than a year, they must seek timely intervention to understand the problem and avoid further complications. It is also equally important to consult good infertility centre managed by an infertility specialist to improve the chances of conceiving sooner.

Dr. Syed Sayeed Ahmed, Chairman & CEO, Primecare Hospital said, “Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART)” in India have evolved over the years. Technological advancements and expert clinicians have resulted in higher AART techniques like ICSI, IVF, IUI, invitro maturation (IVM), freezing and thawing of embryos and oocytes,  preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidies (PGT-A) and Laser assisted hatching embryo transfer in India, with absolute ethical practices and upgraded medical procedures. Our center in Bangalore offers the best-in-class treatment for both men and women. I am extremely happy to see another esteem and wonderful addition in the journey of Primecare Hospital with the launch of our first IVF centre in the city, enabling us to help couples embrace parenthood in the most memorable manner.”

Embrace IVF fertility centre, with its presence in Bangalore, plans to rapidly expand its footprints across other parts of the country with its evidence-based approach towards reproductive medicine.

BSY Cabinet expansion will be tightrope walk, likely after Jan 15

December 18, 2019 by Nasheman

They, however, may have to wait for about a month as the ministry expansion is likely to happen only after January 15.

BSY, Yeddyurappa

BENGALURU: Not wanting to waste any time in their bid to find a place Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa’s cabinet, ministerial aspirants are pulling out all stops and are lobbying hard. They, however, may have to wait for about a month as the ministry expansion is likely to happen only after January 15.

Sources in the BJP who are in the know of the developments at the central leadership level said the ministry expansion is likely only after Sankranti festival on January 15. Many consider ‘Shoonya masa’ (December 17 to January 14) as inauspicious for taking up any important task. Sources in Bengaluru too expressed similar views, though, officially, neither the party nor the CM have given any date for the ministry expansion.

The ‘Shoonya masa’, coupled with other political exigencies, has made the wait longer for the rebel Congress-JDS leaders-turned-BJP legislators. But the CM is said to have already secured the central leadership’s nod for their induction into his ministry. Yediyurappa is likely to meet BJP national president and Union Home Minister Amit Shah later this month and a formal announcement is expected after that.
Yediyurappa had, on several occasions, reiterated that the legislators who had supported the formation of the BJP government in the state will be inducted into the ministry. The challenge, however, is accommodating many senior BJP leaders, who too are lobbying hard and have even met the CM several times over the last few days to present their case.

Well aware of the challenges, the party’s central leadership is keen on avoiding any friction and ensuring that the CM strikes a balance between the newcomers and the party loyalists during the ministry expansion. Currently, the CM can induct a maximum of 17 ministers, including 11 ‘newcomers’. He is likely to leave two berths vacant as the by-elections to two Assembly segments — RR Nagar in Bengaluru and Maski in Raichur district — are yet to be held as petitions are pending before the court.

In such circumstances, Yediyurappa can only induct 15 ministers. If the CM is keen on accommodating M T B Nagaraj and AH Vishwanath, who lost the bypolls, by getting them elected to the Legislative Council, he will be left with just 13 berths to be distributed. The scope for manoeuvre is not much as he can effectively accommodate only two BJP loyalists apart from 11 newcomers.

While the party is likely to placate some of its ministerial aspirants by appointing them as heads of boards and corporations – which also comes with a cabinet rank –  the task is not easy. Party sources in the national capital also said that during ministry expansion, the CM and the party leaders will keep the BJP’s expansion plans in the Old Mysuru region in mind. The party has been making consistent efforts, including during its membership drive, to make inroads in the Old Mysuru region, which had so far remained a JDS and Congress bastion. After its win in KR Pet and Chikkaballapur in the bypolls, the party is keen on further strengthening its organisation in the Vokkaliga heartland.

Citizenship Act: From Mangalore to Bengaluru, student protests intensifies in Karnataka

December 17, 2019 by Nasheman

In Bengaluru, Congress and JDS leaders and former IAS officer Sasikanth Senthil, who recently resigned from service, were part of a 800-strong crowd of protesters who converged at Town Hall.

BENGALURU: The protests against the controversial citizenship law spread across Karnataka — from Ballari to Bengaluru and from Mysuru to Mangaluru. On Monday, thousands of people took to the streets in different parts of the state and police had to clamp prohibitory orders and even resort to lathicharge.

In Mangaluru, police lathicharge members of student organisation Campus Front of India for blocking the city’s arterial road over a protest against the law and also against the alleged police brutality in Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia University. Police also registered cases against around 60 students, who blocked the traffic near Jyothi circle in the city.

In Bengaluru, Congress and JDS leaders and former IAS officer Sasikanth Senthil, who recently resigned from service, were part of a 800-strong crowd of protesters who converged at Town Hall. However, as there was no prior permission sought by the protesters, the police were forced to disperse the gathering at about 5.30 pm.

Senthil said, “Protest is absolutely required as yesterday was a dark day in the history of the country. I have always said this regime is against universities and independent institutions. What was so shameful in the whole scenario was chasing students into their campuses and beating them up to send a message to people protesting (against the Citizenship Law). I appeal to all the students to show their solidarity in a non-violent way against these attacks on students.”

Jayanagar MLA Sowmya Reddy said just because BJP has the majority they cannot pass a bill against the people’s opinion. “We have the right to stage protests against the law. So we have gathered here to make the central government realise the entire country is against their decision,” she said. The gathering launched a signature campaign and has plans to protest on a larger scale in the next few days after seeking police permission.

JDS leader Tanveer Ahmed told the media that the police forced them to vacate the place though they were protesting peacefully. Thousands of people took part in a protest rally in Hospet town in Ballari district, demanding that the government roll back the new law, while activists of Muslim organisations blocked traffic in Yadgir City and Shahapur towns.

In Mysuru, over 6,000 people gathered at the Town Hall premises despite prohibitory orders and raised slogans against the law and National Register of Citizens. Meanwhile, in Chief Minister’s home district Shivamogga, the police took Congress leaders into custody for protesting against the new law, while in Kalaburgi, activists of progressive organisations took out a candlelight march condemning Delhi Police action against students of Jamia University.
