Special drive against delivery boys and booked 275 cases and recovered Rs.1.3 lakhs in 2 hours & JB Nagar Traffic Cops cracked 5 road accidents 
In a special drive, the traffic police on Monday launched special drive against delivery boys and booked 275 cases and recovered Rs.1.3 lakh worth fines from them.
Joint commissioner of Police,MN Anucheth,said that the reason behind the special drive is to ensure traffic discipline among the delivery boys who indulge in violations unabated to meet the deadline and deliver on time  .
He further said the delivery boys not only jump signal and ride rash and negligently but also ride against one way and on footpath endangering the motorists and pedestrians .
“The drive aims to regulate their movements to make them more responsible by adhering traffic rules to ensure each one safety”,Kuldeep Kumar R jain,DCP, Traffic,East division, said .
Meanwhile the JB Nagar traffic police,cracked five road accident related cases which have been closed by the court. 
A special team led by Inspector GN Venkatachalapathy tracked down the accused who had shifted the locations and not attending the court since 2016.
The police track down the accused with the help of details obtained through fitness certificates and emission certificate details,and produced them before the court. 
The accused confessed to the crime and paid the fine, Mr.Jain,said.

International level gold smuggling racket busted by DRI officials arrested six and recovered 9.3kgs of Foreign Origin gold worth Rs.6.08 Crores
Officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence busted a gold smuggling racket,arrested six passengers in separate cases and recovered 9.3 kilos of Foreign origin gold worth Rs.6.08 crore from them.
This is the biggest recovery in recent times and the gold is being smuggled into city by Malaysia and Sarjah,sources,said .
In the first case,the DRI officials in coordination with airport customs,intercepted four passengers landed at Kempegowda International Airport from Kuala Lampur  by Malaysian Airways Flight. 
During the examination of the said passengers,gold in paste form weighing 2632 grams was found concealed in their inner wear. 
The extracted gold from the said paste was valued at Rs.1.42 Cr.by the assayer.The DRI officials also recovered 3510 sticks of E-cigarettes with value of Rs. 73.7 Lakhs were also recovered from their baggage. 
All the four passengers were arrested. and further investigations are on to ascertain their network .
In another case,the officials caught two passengers who arrived from Kuala Lampur to Bengaluru by Malaysian Airways Flight. 
During the examination of the said passengers, gold in paste form weighing 2854 grams was found concealed in their Socks.The gold was valued at Rs.1.55 Cr. 
In the third incident,the officials during rummaging of flight arrived from Sarjah recovered 3.75 Kg of Foreign Origin gold in bar.
The contraband was concealed in luggage cabin above the seats.The officials suspect that the carrier noticing the officials left the gold in the luggage cabin and escaped .
The accused passengers suspected mules had gone to Malaysia on tourist visas.While two of them are from Tamil Nadu the four others are from different parts of North India.Further investigations are on to ascertain their network .

Tech consultant from Bengaluru loses Rs.18.3 lakh after falling for fake courier scam 
A 43-year-old tech consultant from Whitefield become the latest victim of courier scam and lost Rs.18.3 lakh to the cyber fraudsters who posing as custom officials  accessed his bank account to check money laundering transaction and promised to legalized the saving before emptying the account on January 17.
After waiting for many days,the victim,Rajkumar Beli,  from whitefield,when he did not got back the saving,he tried to reach and later consulted his friends to realize that he had been duped and approached the cyber crime police on February 1.
In his complaint Mr.Beli said that the conman posing as custom officials informing him that there was a international courier from Delhi to Malyasia in his name containing 140 grams of MDMA.
The accused sought his Aadhaar details for verification and confirmed that he was also involved in money laundering . 
Convincing him to help,the accused accessed his bank details on the pretext to legalizing his saving and withdrawn the cash total worth Rs.18,35,107.
Senior officer said,despite awareness and hundreds of incidents reported in media everyday,people falling to this trap . 
The best way to prevent this is not to entertain unknown calls which claimed to be from enforcement agencies and ask personal details,a senior officer, said .
People who get such calls,inform the control room immediately to prevent further damage.

Tumakuru gubbi police sub inspector among five policemen suspended after thief escaped from police custody 
A police Sub Inspector among five police personnel suspended on the charges of dereliction of duty after a 35-year-old old choreographer turned chain snatcher escaped from the Gubbi police station leaving behind the handcuff in the wee hours of Thursday.
The incident occurred at the Home Minister constituency brought much embarrassment to the department following which senior police officials cracked a whip seeking disciplinary action.
The accused Syed Ali Balasab Nadaf,was arrested by Gubbi police for robbing a 35 grams of gold chain from a shop keeper on January 11.
Nadaf hailed from Gadag and working as choreographer in Bengaluru and suffered financial loss . 
In order to overcome he took to crime and move around his bike along with his associate to rob gold chains from women moving alone.
However Based on a complaint,the Gubbi police track down Nadaf and arrested him and taken him into custody for further investigations. 
While in the custody Nadaf slide down the hands through the handcuff and escaped while the police constable guarding him dozing off . The other staff including the Station house in charge were busy in the record room at around 4. 30 am.The incident came to light when the guard woke up and found the handcuff lying on the floor and nadaf was missing. 
He informed the SHO before alerting the control room. Soon the police swung into action and arrested Nadaf at Tumakuru Railway station.

Home maker arrested by Cantonment Railway police for stealing two necklace from her cousin sister while traveling in train recovered two necklace worth Rs.8.5 lakhs 
The Cantonment railway police on Thursday arrested a 58-year-old home maker for stealing two necklace worth ₹ 8.5 lakh from her cousin sister while travelling in a train.
The accused Chandrasharma,resident of RT Nagar was arrested after police questioned her in detail following which she confessed and returned the stolen property .
The victim,Lalitha Shanmugam,from Nagawarapalya had gone along with her relatives to attend a house warning ceremony in Palakkad in Kerala on January 25.
Lalitha along with the accused returned home two days later in a train and got down at KR Puram,while the accused continued to travel till cantonment to go home.After reaching home,Lalitha found her two gold necklace were missing from her purse and filed a complaint with the railway police on January 27. 

The victim had kept the jewels in a bank locker and got it out to wear for the family function.
Based on the complaint,the police questioned all the relatives whop travelled with her including the accused. 
A detailed questioning led Chandra Sharma to confess to the crime.The accused told the police that she committed the theft out of jealous.Based on the confession the police recovered 152 grams of valuables and arrested the accused for further investigation. 

State Information Technology Minister Priyank Kharge on Monday said that the Karnataka government would provide all support to the US government for starting a consulate in Bengaluru.

Speaking to delegates of the US Trade mission here, the minister pointed out that a huge number of students and IT employees from Bengaluru visit the US on a regular basis and requested the US government to set up a consulate in the city to facilitate their visa and other formalities.

Sharath Bachegowda, Chairman of Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (KEONICS) who was also present at the event, reiterated the minister’s stand.

“We will extend our full support to the US government for starting a consulate in Bengaluru. It will help the IT and ITES industries, techies and students in Karnataka who are now forced to travel to Chennai and Hyderabad for their visa applications,” Bachegowda said.

The minister was speaking to delegates of the US Trade Mission to Karnataka and South India who are visiting major tier-1 and tier-2 south Indian cities from February 12 to 20. More than 15 wellknown schools from the US are part of the trade mission.

“The delegates of the Trade Mission will seek to connect US education institutions with Indian higher education institutions and students to advance mutually beneficial collaborations,” Kharge said.

The US Trade Mission to Karnataka and South India will also explore multiple avenues of cooperation between the US and India in advancing technology innovation in manufacturing and other allied sectors. It will also work towards building a long-term partnership between the US and Indian businesses, according to a statement issued by the minister’s office.

ED attaches properties worth Rs.34.11 Crores of Coimbatore-based jewellery firm for money laundering 
The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has provisionally attached immovable properties worth ₹ 34.11 Crore in the form of four land parcels,one residential land and a  residential flat located at Coimbatore and Chennai under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA),in connection with a bank fraud case of a Coimbatore based firm identified as Lavanya Jewels (later converted to company Lavanya Gold Jewels India Pvt Ltd).  
ED initiated investigation on the basis of an FIR was registered by the CBI,Bengaluru against the directors of Lavanya Gold Jewels India Pvt Ltd in connection with  wrongful loss of  ₹ 65.00 Crore to the State Bank of India.  
ED investigation revealed that Lavanya Jewels had obtained Cash Credit facilities from the bank on the basis of inflated figures of its Stock-in-hand,Debtors. The credit facilities from the bank have been admittedly misused in repayment to private financers from whom cash loans were borrowed at exorbitant interest rate of 60 per cent to 100 per cent per annum,and for other non-business purposes.

ED investigation also revealed that the directors of above-said company have illegally taken out gold bars and  gold jewellery from the company for personal use.Further probe revealed that the accused converted the said gold inventory into Bitcoins outside India and gradually laundered the undisclosed and unaccounted proceeds of crime in the form of complev crypto accounts and shown income from crypto transactions in a related partnership firm. 
The same income has been used by the directors of above-said company to acquire one flat worth ₹ 1.70 Crore,in Chennai.

ED Investigation also unearthed that one of the properties mortgaged by Lavanya Jewels with the bank has been fraudulently taken in e-auction by a real estate entity at much lower value of around  ₹ 6.5 Crore, (having market value of more than ₹ 20 Crore) in the benami name of the employee of the real estate entity, which constitutes proceeds of crime resulting in the loss to the Bank itself in such loan account.  
Therefore,immovable properties to the tune of ₹ 34.11 Crore involved in the money laundering have been provisionally attached by the Directorate.  Further investigation is under progress.

Lokayukta police unearthed disproportionate assets of 10 ‘crorepati’ govt officers in Karnataka
Karnataka Lokayukta Police have conducted massive search operations across the state in connection with 10 disproportionate asset cases registered against 10 Government Officers in Lokayukta Police Stations of Tumakuru,Mandya,Chikkamagaluru,Mysuru,Koppal, Vijayanagara,Ballari,Hassan,Chamarajanagara and Mangaluru and recovered disproportionate assets worth several crores . 

As many as 10 teams of officials on tuesday conducted simultaneously searches of the residence,office of the relatives of the accused officials in more than 41 places across the state and booked the following officials under DA cases . A Hanumantharayappa,Junior Engineer,Civil,Office of the Asst,Executive Engineer,KRIDL Sub Division, Madhugiri,Tumakuru Dist and recovered disproportionate assets worth total value of Rs.2.5 crore . 
The officials searched 6 places of the accused and  found documents pertaining to three houses,eight acres agricultural Land worth Rs.2.3 crore . 
Apart from this the officials also recovered cash Rs. 40,000,gold valuables worth worth Rs.8.5 lakh,vehicles worth Rs.2 lakh and House hold articles worth Rs.25.3 lakh.
Similarly the officials raided,Harsha H R,Executive Engineer,PWD,Mandya Dist,and recovered disproportionate assets worth Rs.4.5 crore . 
This was recovered after officials searched in 6 places of the accused officer and found property documents of  3 Sites,2 Houses,15-30 Acres Agricultural Land total worth Rs.1.6 crore . 
This apart cash Rs.1.5 lakh,Rs 10 lakh worth valuables, Rs.55 lakh worth vehicles and Rs.2.15 crore worth house hold articles.
Similar raids were conducted on B Ravi,Asst.Prof.and Director,Post Graduate Centre,Krishnadevaraya University,Nandihalli,Ballari Dist and recovered disproportionate assets worth Rs.2.16 crore from him. 
The officials conducted searched at three places belonging to the accused and recovered documents pertaining to Seven Sites,two Houses worth Rs.1.5 crore . 
Apart from this cash Rs.59,800,Rs.9.12 lakh worth valuables,Vehicles worth Rs.23.3 lakh and House hold articles worth Rs.26 lakh from him.

The Lokayukta officials also raided R R Bhaskar,Asst. Executive Engineer (Ele),Store Dept,H B Halli,GESCOM (Gadag Vidyut Chakthi Nigam) and recovered a total worth Rs.1.7 crore worth disproportionate assets from him. 
This includes,8 Sites,3 Houses,two acres agricultural Land,cash Rs.76,550 and gold ornaments worth Rs.20 lakh. 
In addition to this the officials recovered vehicles worth Rs.12 lakh and household articles worth Rs.1.6 lakh from him.
P Ravi Kumar,AEE,PWD Rural Development and Drinking Water and Sanitization,Head Office,Hunsuru Sub Division,Mysuru Dist and found disproportionate assets worth Rs.2.07 crore. 

This was recovered after searching three places belonging to the accused and found documents pertaining to one site,a house and a commercial establishment,5.9 acres Property Mortgage,4 Acres agricultural Land. 
Apart from this ornaments worth Rs.13.3 lakh Vehicles worth Rs.4 lakh and household articles worth Rs.11.5 lakh .
Nethravathi K R,Commercial Tax Officer,Office of the Commercial Tax Commissioner,Commercial Tax Department,Chikkamagaluru Dist and found disproportionate assets total worth Rs.1.9 crore . 
This according to the officials recovered after searching two places of the accused and found documents pertaining to 5 Sites,1 House. 

In addition to this the officials also seized cash Rs.4.5 lakh,ornaments worth Rs.7.7 lakh,vehicles worth Rs.10 lakh and household articles worth Rs.16.4 lakh.
Renukamma,RFO,Hoovina Hadagali Range,Forest Department,Vijayanagara Dist was found having disproportionate assets worth Rs.2.7 crore . 

The officials searched five places belonging to the accused and found documents pertaining to two Sites, 2 Houses,11 Acres agricultural Land. 
The officials also recovered cash Rs.2.09 lakh and Rs. 32 lakh worth ornaments,Rs.29 lakh worth vehicles and Rs. 23 lakh worth household articles from her

M N Yagnendra,AEE,Mysuru Development Authority, Mysuru.The officials searched four places belonging to the accused officer and found a total of Rs.1.6 crore worth disproportionate assets from him. 
This includes four Sites, one House,two Acres agricultural Land.Apart from this cash Rs.86,000,  ornaments worth Rs.31.2 lakh,vehicles worth Rs.8 lakh were recovered Shanth Kumar H M,Executive Engineer(V),MRT Section, MESCOM,Attavara Mangaluru,and recovered disproportionate assets total worth Rs.2.4 crore from him. 
The officials searched three places belonging to the accused and found documents pertaining to 3 Sites,2 Houses. 
The officials also recovered Rs.28.2 lakh worth ornaments,Rs.9.6 lakh worth vehicles,Rs lakh worth household articles, Rs.74.7 lakh worth bank balance from him

Jaganath G P, Food Inspector,Hassan Taluk,Hassan Dist was booked under Disproportionate Assets case and found Rs.1.9 crore from him
The officials searched four places belonging to the accused and found documents pertaining to seven Sites and a house.Apart from this the officials also recovered cash ₹ 89,000, ornaments worth Rs.14.3 lakh, Rs. 6.2 lakh worth vehicles from him.

Preventive detention measures will be invoked on drug peddlers to tackle drug menace says B Dayananda 
The police will take preventive detention measures to tackle the drug menace effectively,city police chief,B. Dayananda,said. 

Speaking on the public meeting in Doddakallasandra on Saturday,Mr.Dayananda said that the drug menace is also area of focus this year and to tackle effectively some tough measures on the lines of goonda Act is needed. 
The city police have cracked a whip and arrested many peddlers and seized narcotics including synthetic drugs which is one of the area of concern. 

Apart from creating awareness programs about the drug abuse,city police is also acting tough on peddlers and their network,he said adding that preventive detention initiative is part of the drive which would be launched soon.
