Bommai directed officials to make temporary arrangements for roads in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts. He also directed officials to evacuate people where there are chances of landslide, and take up a joint survey of houses that collapsed or got damaged.

The CM sought that special attention should be paid to the Kodagu district where frequent landslides have been reported. Tahsildars should make all arrangements in the relief centres and it should be monitored by DCs.

Hindutva activists did not attack pub, only questioned if they serve minors: Mangaluru North MLA

July 27, 2022 by Nasheman

Mangaluru North MLA Bharath Shetty on Tuesday refuted claims of the attack on a pub in Balmatta in the city by Hindutva group Bajrang Dal and added they only questioned the management of the pub if they were serving alcohol to minors.

“Hindutva group activists did not in any way attack anybody at the pub. They questioned the pub manager and bouncers if they were serving alcohol to minors at the pub,” he said adding that he has discussed the case with the City Police Commissioner.

“The pub staff is being investigated in this regard and truth will prevail. Serving cigarettes and alcohol to minors at pubs and bars is illegal. Incidents like these happen when pubs and bars violate the law and allow such activities. We as a society should be careful so that such incidents don’t happen.” He added.

Mangaluru pub attack: Bajrang Dal district President says they had informed cops before going to pub

July 27, 2022 by Nasheman

Mangaluru: Bajrang Dal’s District President Puneeth Attavar on Tuesday said that the members of Bajrang Dal had informed the cops before going to “Recycle the Lounge” pub on Monday night when they attacked the pub.

Speaking to media reporters on Tuesday, Puneeth said the activists of Bajrang Dal had received information that students whose kissing video had gone viral a week ago were partying at the pub.

“It is true that we have received information about those students partying there. We informed the police and we went there.” He said while refuting the claims of any attack on the pub.

“We went there and we spoke to the manager and staff of the pub. We asked them to vacate the students from the pub as some of them were minors.” He added.

Journalist Naveen Soorinje in a Facebook post slammed the police department for not initiating action against the Bajrang Dal activists when they were informed about the attack. He also questioned the police department why they could not arrest Bajrang Dal activists as a precautionary measure and why they had to wait until the attack to reach the spot.

Siddaramaiah wants narco test on PSI scam accused Amrit Paul

July 15, 2022 by Nasheman

KALABURAGI: Congress Legislature Party leader Siddaramaiah on Thursday demanded that the CID subject Amrit Paul, who was the ADGP of recruitment wing, to a narco analysis test to know the involvement of politicians in the PSI recruitment scam. The former CM alleged the involvement of several ministers and their aides in the scam. “To bring out the truth, this narco analysis test is needed,” he told media persons at Kalaburagi airport. Siddaramaiah also felt the need for a detailed probe into a dairy said to be written by Paul.

When his attention was drawn on the allegations of Higher Education Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan that Siddaramaiah too was involved in PSI scam as many people were appointed as PSIs by unfair means when the latter was the CM, the Badami MLA asked why the minister was silent when he was in the opposition. On flood situation in Karnataka, Siddaramaiah alleged that the State Government has failed to take precautionary measures.

“The district in-charge ministers failed to visit their respective districts. After the CM visited the rain-hit districts, the ministers have started visiting their allotted districts,” he criticised. On corruption, he said, “There is rampant corruption. The government has fixed a price for transfers like how rates of dishes are displayed in hotels.”

Karnataka: 52 chiefs of boards, corporations removed

July 13, 2022 by Nasheman

Though the BJP government had been stalling a decision for various reasons, the leadership has bitten the bullet as it is crucial to make changes ahead of the 2023 Assembly elections to keep the rank and file of the party in good humour, sources said. The list could be out soon as the polls are approaching fast, and the new appointees may not have enough time to provethemselves in their responsibilities, they added.

In fact, the BJP Core Committee had prepared the list some months ago and also taken the nod of the party high command. But there could be still some tweaks in the list as the leadership has to strike a balance between the party, Yediyurappa and RSS supporters.

Among the prominent leaders who will lose their posts include former IAS officer K Ratna Prabha, chairperson of Karnataka Skills Development Authority, S Dattatri of KSSIDC, actress Shriti of Temperance Board, SN Eshwarappa of KSRTC, KP Purushottam of Sports Authority, MR Venkatesh of BMTC, Thammesh Gowda HC, chairman of Karnataka Vidyuth Kharkane Ltd, LR Mahadevaswamy, chairman of Mysuru Zoo Authority, Ananth Hegde Ashishara of Karnataka Biodiversity Board, Dr MN Nandish Hanje of Book Authority, Sunil Puranik of Chalanachitra Academy, N Shivalingaiah of CADA, Savitha Vishwanath Amar Shetty of Silk Marketing Board, Anthony Sebastian of Children’s Rights Commission, Pramila Naidu R of Women’s Commission and Hareesh Bantwal of KEONICS. They have completed ust one-and-a-half years of their tenure.

The state has around 130 boards and corporations, including urban development authorities. Some of the positions had been kept vacant, and it has to be seen whether all the posts will be filled in the coming round of appointments.

The prominent among those who have been retained are Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation Chairman Rudresh, Karnataka Tourism Development Corporation head Kapu Siddalingaswamy, who is a former personal assistant of Yediyurappa, Mysuru Urban Development Authority Chairman Rajiv and Karnataka Forest Development Corporation Chairperson and actor Tara Anuradha.
