51 health centres under the control of BBMP to be taken over by Health Department

Health Minister Dr.Sudhakar’s big move to revamp primary healthcare in Bengaluru

In a significant move to revamp primary healthcare services in Bengaluru city,Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs) currently under BBMP’s control will be taken over by Health and Family Welfare Department.

BBMP which had financial and administrative control over these health centres will now be moved to the supervision of health department.

As per the order issued by state government on Friday,a total of 51 health centres will she taken over health department.

35 UPHCs listed under National Urban Health Mission,14 unlisted UPHCs and 2 CHCs will now come under the purview of health and family welfare department.

The staff recruited by BBMP and equipment procured by BBMP will also be transferred to Health and Family Welfare Department.

The move is aimed at streamlining healthcare services across the state.

Speaking about decision,Health Minister Dr.K.Sudhakar said that the public healthcare services provided by government should be similar across all facilities be in UPHCs or CHCs.

Whether it is urban or rural area,people should get quality healthcare services across the state.

The move to bring back health centres under BBMP to the purview of Health Department will help us to integrate the health programs of centre and state government and ensure effective implementation.

The decision will also enable better management of PHCs and streamlining of administrative issues leading to improved service to citizens, especially the urban poor.

Priority to improve the standard of Nursing Colleges in the State: CM Bommai

Priority is being given to improve the standard of Nursing Colleges in the State,Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said participating in a function to present the ‘Florence Nightingale’ award for the year 2020-21 organised by the Department of Health and Family Welfare and the Anglo Indian Unity Centre.

Acknowledging the importance of the Nursing profession in Health services,Bommai said, Nurses need to have the knowledge of all aspects of modern medicine and also the expertise to use modern medical equipment.

Government and private hospitals need to work in tandem to provide good medical care for the people.

State government would identify Nurses who are rendering good service and honour them.

The State government has accorded greater priority for Health sector and identified 108 taluks to improve health infrastructure,recruit doctors and paramedical staff.

Namma Clinics’ are being started in all the cities, 100 Primary Health Centres are being upgraded, mobile hospitals are being launched in 4 districts, Bommai said.

The Chief Minister assured to resolve the issues related to payment of salaries to Nurses working under the National Rural Health Mission.

Nurses who are engaged in the noble profession are serving the society like messengers of God, we cannot put a price for their service, he said.

Honour the Nurses serving in Northern Karnataka too

The Chief Minister was full of praise for Nurses, especially those serving in far flung areas.There are good Nursing colleges and Nurses in Northern Karnataka too.

The good services of Nurses serving Northern Karnataka and other far flung areas too should be identified and honoured,Bommai suggested to Ivan Nigli,head of Anglo Indian Unity Centre.

Bommai appreciated Jahnavi Gowda,a 24 year old Nurse from Shivamogga who donated her organs when she was about to die,thus giving a new life for 6 people.

Drug Peddler arrested by Audugodi police recovered 200 gms Hashish oil Worth Rs.10 Lakh

The Audugodi police on Thursday arrested a peddler and recovered 200 grams of hashish oil worth Rs 10 lakh from him.

The accused was arrested on Mahalingeshwara bande road while he was waiting for his clients to deliver the drugs.

Police suspect that the accused had sourced the drugs from neighboring states and smuggled into the city to sell it to his clients.

He was booked under NDPS act and taken into custody for further investigations said a senior officer.

Man held for assaulting on duty PSI with belt

The High grounds police arrested a 36-year-old man who assaulted PSI and his colleague with a belt over a trivial row in Shivananda circle in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The accused has been identified as Sunil Ramachandra,resident of Vasanth Nagar was one among the crowd gathered outside richie-rich ice cream shop at Shivananda circle .

The PSI (probationary)Abhishek B,and his colleague Head constable Basavaraj Badiger were on night rounds noticed the crowd at around 1.10 am and was trying to disperse them.

The accused came out of the crowd pulled the belt from his waist and started to assault Abhishek hurling abuses at him.

He tried to duck the attack and began to run,but Sunil chased him and kept attacking him.Head constable Badiger with the help of others chased the accused and pinned him down.In the melee they also sustained injuries.

Abhishek alerted the control room seeking backup to arrest the accused.He was brought to the station charged with assaulting public servant while on duty and various other section and remanded him to judicial custody.

Bike borne miscreants punched nurse robbed her gold chain in kengeri

Two scooter borne men robbed a gold chain from a 55-year-old nurse while she was walking to work and punched her face to brake her teeth when she tried to resist in Kengeri police station limits on Tuesday .

The incident occurred at around 4 pm on 7th block banashankari when Sudhamani was walking to her work .

The accused confronted her on scooter and tried to run over her.

She jumped to safety for which the pillion rider pulled gold chain worth Rs 20,00 from her neck .

When she tried to resist the accused punched her face and broke her teeth while the rider pulled out a knife and threatened to stab her .

Sudhamani shouted for help out of pain prompting the passers by to rush to her help but the duo sped away.

Sudhamani was taken to hospital for treatment and later filed a complaint with the police.Based on the complaint the Kengeri police have taken up a case of robbery and are trying to track down the accused.

Legislative Council RS election: BJP Core Committee meeting tomorrow: CM Bommai

The State BJP Core Committee is set to meet in Bengaluru tomorrow to discuss the forthcoming Legislative Council and Rajya Sabha elections, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said speaking to media persons at his residence.

We discussed other issues during the meeting with BJP State President Nalin Kumar Kateel yesterday.

The issues related to Council and Rajya Sabha elections would be discussed in detail at the Core Committee meeting,Bommai said.

Regarding the reservation for Backward Classes in the Local Bodies election, Bommai said,the BBMP election issue is being heard by the Supreme Court.

Reservation has to be provided for Backward Classes in Taluk and Zilla Panchayat elections legally and in accordance with the Constitution.

A Commission has been constituted in this regard.We have requested for more time to get the Commission submit its report or allow for conducting the elections as per the earlier reservation system.It is almost likely to get the nod,Bommai said.

Priority for self employment through LIDKAR: CM Bommai

The State government has decided to assist atleast 100 youth in each taluk to get self employed, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said and asked the Leather Industries Development Corporation Limited of Karnataka(LIDKAR) to give top priority for creating employment opportunities for the youth.

An allocation of Rs25 cr has been made in the state budget for LIDKAR.More funds would be provided in the supplementary budget if LIDKAR creates more employment opportunities.

Leather industry has seen huge changes with modern technology and machinery.The leather furniture industry offers a big opportunity for LIDKAR to grow further even to capture the international market.

LIDKAR could taste huge success if proper branding and marketing.Greater focus should be given in this direction,Bommai suggested to the Managing Director of LIDKAR.

The Chief Minister was speaking at the State level Leather Artisans’ Convention and Leather Crafts Exhibition cum sale at Palace Grounds.

The Chief Minister assured all assistance from the government for the development and growth of LIDKAR in its quest to expand its product base, production and employment generation.

In the last five years a total grant of Rs237 cr has been provided for LIDKAR which in turn has helped 33,000 small enterprises, Bommai said.

Reiterating the commitment of his government for the welfare of SC, ST communities,Bommai said, the subsidy for purchase of land for SC,ST communities has been raised from Rs15 lakh to Rs20 lakh.

Free power upto 75 units is being provided for 30 lakh SC, ST families, big hostels with over 1000 rooms are being built in major education centres of the State for the students belonging to backward classes, SC and ST communities.

The State government would issue an order to distribute sites and houses for the acid attack victims.

They would be provided an assistance of upto Rs.5 lakh under self employment scheme,Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced.

The Chief Minister was speaking after launching a helpline ‘Hello Revenue Minister-Pension at doorstep in 72 Hours’started by the Revenue department.

Acid attack victims undergo acute mental agony, rejection by the society.It is the responsibility of the government to rush to their aid.

In this regard their monthly pension has been raised from Rs3000 to Rs10000.Apart from this they would be provided site and housing.

Financial assistance upto Rs5 lakh for self employment so that they could lead a life of dignity on their own,” Bommai said.

Decentralisation of power

Reiterating his commitment to make the administration responsive and take the services to the doors of the citizens,Bommai said,the programme to deliver Revenue documents to the doors of the farmers has been launched.This will help over 50 lakh families.

The social security pensions should be delivered at the doors of the beneficiaries.The new initiative would fulfill this objective.

New dynamism is being induced into the functioning of the Revenue department.The objective of decentralization of power is to see that the administration machinery flows smoothly from Vidhana Soudha to the doors of the citizens seamlessly.

Power should not remain frozen in Vidhana Soudha.It should flow like honey to the beneficiaries,Bommai said.

Bommai advocated the need to maintain constant contact with the people and said,then only democracy would succeed.”

Recalling his first day in office on assuming charge as the Chief Minister,he said,the decision to launch Vidya Nidhi scholarship scheme for the children of farmers’families was the first decision I took in my first cabinet meeting.

Sandhya Suraksha,Widow’s pension and pension for the physically challenged have been raised. The pension for acid victims has been raised from Rs3000 to Rs10000.”

The state budget has many such welfare schemes for the welfare of the poor.The number of Dialysis Cycle machines have been increased from 30000 to 60,000 to provide free dialysis service for the poor,11 new cancer treatment chemotherapy centres are being set up for the benefit of cancer patients,scheme has been launched for medical examination and cataract surgery for the senior citizens,cochlear implants are being distributed for the hearing impaired, Bommai said.

A massive initiative to make the administration responsive and deliver the services at the doorsteps of the citizens has been launched.

Major reforms are being initiated.This is a government with humane conscience.Our government will not hesitate to take hard decisions to improve the life of the common man,Bommai said.

Moved by the plight of a physically challenged youth,Shivappa from Adavibavi village of Kanakagiri in Koppal district,Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s humane response touched the hearts on Saturday.

Even as the Chief Minister was coming out after attending the State BJP Core committee meeting Shivappa narrated his woes as his 3-wheel scooter was wrecked in a recent road accident. He urged the Chief Minister to get him a new 3-wheel vehicle.

Touched by his plight,Bommai responded immediately and called the Deputy Commissioner of Koppal district over phone and instructed him to get a new 3-wheel vehicle to Shivappa.

Chief Minister’s gesture not only brought relief on the face of Shivappa, but won the hearts of those around as well.

BBMP Garbage Truck kills Food delivery boy near Thannisandra flyover,Driver arrested by Chikkajala traffic police

A 25-year-old swiggy delivery boy was killed after a speeding BBMP truck knock down the bike and run over him on Nagawara Thannisandra main road Saturday evening.

The deceased Devanna,a native of Surapura in Yadgir ditrict was living in Kothanur and working for swiggy for the past few months.

Senior officers visited the spot and after collecting information told reporters,Devanna was heading to Hegde Nagar from Nagawara to Deliver the parcel when the accident occurred .

The Chikkajala traffic and law and order police rushed to the spot and arrested the truck driver identified as Dinesh Naik and booked him under rash and negligent driving and death due to negligence and seize the truck for further investigations.

The driver was subjected to medical examination to ascertain whether he was drunk,adding that results of the medical reports awaited .

This is the fourth accident involved garbage trucks since March.14-year-old Akshatha,a high school student was killed and two others injured when the speeding garbage truck run over them while they were crossing the road near Hebbal underpass on March 21.

A 76-year-old V Ramaiah,died after the monster vehicle struck his two-wheeler near REVA University along Thanisandra Main Road on March 31 .

A 40-year-old Padmini D,who worked as deputy manager in SBI was killed on April 18 when the truck knocked her down at Nayandahalli junction on Mysuru road.She was a resident of R R Nagar and was returning from work on a scooter from St Mark’s Road .

The Traffic police taking a serious note on the series of accident involving garbage truck launched a special drive and booked many drivers under traffic violations and even some for drunk driving .

The drive was launched to create awareness among the drivers to instill sense of road safety and traffic rules among the drivers,BR Ravikanthe Gowda,Joint commissioner of Police, traffic, said .
