January 7, 2019 by Nasheman

By : Pramesh S Jain

Unique initiative by CCB Police around 60 Drug peddlers Paraded at CCB office in Bengaluru :
“Drug peddlers Rogues Gallery will be displayed”.
Drug peddlers and suppliers photos will be displayed in public places as Rogues Gallery their photos will be displayed in MG Road,Brigade Road,Banaswadi,K R Puram and other public places where the drug abuse menace is more.

First time in India it is a history that Bengaluru CCB Police have paraded around 60 drug peddlers to control the drug abuse menace in the city.
In its first of its kind for the first time, the Central Crime Branch sleuths paraded drug peddlers at their office in Chamarajpet, warning them that they were under the police radar.
While parading rowdies is a routine exercise, this is the first time police have done the same with drug peddlers.
Additional Commissioner of Police Crime Alok Kumar with DCP Crime,Girish S,ACPs as,Mohan Kumar,Shobha.K,with PIs,as,Ayesha,Narayan Gowda, with other officers and staff on Friday conducted a drug peddlers parade in a bid to control drug abuse menace in the city.
Around 60 drug peddlers took part in the first ever drug peddlers parade which was held at the Central Crime Branch office.
When Alok Kumar,Addl CP Crime, and DCP Crime,Girish S,was interacting with them, some peddlers as students and others said,we never dreamt of becoming drug peddlers. But our addiction to drugs and the related financial crisis forced us to enter the trade. At least 80 of 100 peddlers are addicts and take to peddling to meet their expenses.A Nigerian national had said that,he entered the country five years ago on a business visa but turned into a drug peddler. An Indian man from Kerala visited us and promised us a bright future in the garment business. He said he would offer us double the Nigerian market price for supplying him jeans material.Trusting him,we came to Kerala and started the business. For the first four months, everything was fine. But he cheated me of over Rs 1 crore and If I go back,I will be arrested as my business partners have filed a police complaint against me he explained to Alok Kumar when he was quizzed what made him to become drug peddler.Another person from Tamilnadu said that,he had developed the addiction during college days.I live in a village near Hosur on the Tamilnadu border and am jobless.Addicted to ganja since college, I discontinued studies and became a peddler.I used to supply ganja to college students and IT professionals in Bengaluru and at rave and New Year parties. Now, I have quit everything and am looking for a decent job he said in his statement to Alok Kumar while interacting.
Alok Kumar,Additional Commissioner of Police Crime told media persons that Over 60 drug peddlers men named in cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 are here.

Our aim is to publicly shame drug peddlers and announce that repeat offenders would be booked under the Karnataka Control of Organised Crime Act, 2000.When we quizzed them and asked about the source of ganja, many drug peddlers said they sourced it from Kolar, Chintamani, Shidlaghatta, Anekal, Hosakote, Chamarajanagar, Kollegal and other neighbouring towns. So we would take the drug peddlers to these areas to identify their suppliers and book cases against them.Drug peddlers photo will also be displayed in public places we also have identified areas where they operate and have made a special team to track their movements. We have put up a list of top 25 drug peddlers in the city so that the citizens can identify them if they get into the drug dealing again.Meanwhile, this is also a deterrent for the peddlers from indulging into drug dealing anymore. As he counselled some young peddlers, who were caught for the first time, Kumar had warned of taking up rigid legal action against the repeat offenders. We need to take stern action against drug peddlers as students and young professionals are falling prey to to the bad habit. But first time offenders need counselling rather than punishment. He even warned the foreign nationals those who have come to India on Student Visa and Business Visa they should stick on that only should not indulge in illegal activities and today many foreign nationals drug peddlers are not here because they are afraid that we will deport them so they have not come to this parade but we will call them and counsel them first and if they repeat again then we will take stern action on them and a team headed by DCP Crime, Girish.S,would take the drug peddlers to the said areas to identify the suppliers and repeated offenders will be booked under KCOCA Act and finally i appreciate DCP Crime,Girish.S,ACPs,as,Mohan Kumar,Shobha.K,PIs,as,Ayesha, Narayangowda and other officers and staff for arranging this peddlers parade in just four days as this parade has not been done in entire India we are the first who is holding this drug peddlers parade to counsel them and bring Control of drug abuse in our city he added.

Bajrang Dal’s Yogesh Raj, Main Accused, Arrested

January 3, 2019 by Nasheman

Bulandshahr violence: Yogesh Raj is accused of inciting mob violence on December 3 after the discovery of cow carcasses from a forest.

The man accused of inciting mob violence in Bulandshahr in which a police officer was attacked with an axe and shot dead has been arrested nearly a month after the incident. Yogesh Raj, a Bajrang Dal activistdubbed “Accused no 1” in the killing of the officer in mob frenzy over alleged cow slaughter, was caught last night.

Yogesh Raj had eluded the police for 30 days and even sent videos from hiding. Reports suggest he was arrested only after the Bajrang Dal, a Hindu rightwing outfit, turned him in. The police claimed in a press release that an informer alerted them to Yogesh Raj’s plan to go to Khurja, about 20 km from Bulandshahr, last night. The police say they laid a trap and caught him near a popular college.

On December 3, Yogesh Raj had filed a police complaint of cow slaughter after five carcasses were found scattered in a forest. He had named seven accused and led a protest. An argument between the protesters and the police escalated and violence erupted. Officer Subodh Kumar Singh was chased, cornered in a field and shot dead by the mob of 400 which allegedly included activists of the Bajrang Dal, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and a youth wing member of the ruling BJP.

The UP administration has been accused of inaction in the killing of the policeman but displaying more alacrity in rounding up suspects for cow slaughter. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in a security meeting right after the incident, had ordered strict action for cow slaughter but had apparently not discussed the policeman’s killing.

Students arrested for ragging and assaulting for dalit student

The Dalit student from ESIC Medical alleges that on Christmas Eve, the inebriated seniors assaulted him in his room and later stripped him naked and shaved his hair off.

A horrifying case of alleged casteism and ragging has come to light at a medical college in Bengaluru. A 19-year-old freshman was allegedly assaulted and insulted by men belonging to upper castes in Bengaluru’s Rajajinagar.

On the night of December 24, Saurabh Tupe (19), a resident of the ESIC Medical College Boys Hostel, was fast asleep. His seniors – Karan Sharma, Indrajeet, Rahul Jha, Shubhav and Gautam were out drinking as it was Christmas Eve, and later allegedly barged into his room while he was asleep. “I woke up when someone slapped me across the face. It was Karan. He held the collar of my shirt and dragged me out of bed. My seniors then dragged me to the hostel’s terrace and began hurling abuses at me. They called me a child molester and words that I could not even repeat,” Saurabh says.

Karan and his friends allegedly forced Saurabh to strip down. He was made to stand naked on the terrace while Karan shaved off the back of his head, he alleges. “They shaved a part of my hair. They made me strip and they were laughing at my body and passing really bad comments about me. After Karan shaved my head, he told me that Dalits are not meant to study MBBS and become doctors. He said that people of my kind were only meant to do menial jobs for the upper caste,” Saurabh added.

Karan and his friends soon left Saurabh on the terrace. He rushed to his room and began mulling over filing a complaint with the college regarding the torture he was facing at the hands of Karan. “In the morning, they came to my room again and threatened to kill me if I spoke about the incident to anyone. I was so worried but I finally decided to tell the police. On December 25 at around 10 pm, I went to the Rajajinagar Police Station and filed a complaint,” Saurabh said.

“Ever since I joined this college in June this year, my seniors (the accused) were always ragging me. Initially they made fun of all juniors and I thought it was normal. But after a few days I realized that they were only targeting me. And it was always about the fact that I am a Dalit,” Saurabh told TNM. Over the past few months, Saurabh alleges that Karan, Rahul, Shubhav, Gautam and Indrajeet, who were also residents of the hostel, would rag him and hurl casteist slurs at him.

The police arrested Karan, Indrajeet, Rahul, Shubhav and Gautam on Thursday night. The five accused were produced before the court on Friday and were remanded to judicial custody.

The Rajajinagar Police registered an FIR under sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 34 (common intention of the IPC), section 116 (penalty for ragging) of the Karnataka Education ACT 1983, section 3(1)(x) (intentionally insults or intimidates with intent to humiliate a member of a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe in any place within public view) of the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
