It was the niece who alerted the police upon her discovery of the bodies after her call went unanswered by the aunts.

suicide or murder ?

November 30, 2018 by Nasheman

Police had initially thought that the woman had killer her son first and then taken her own life.

Ten days after police in Karnataka started investigating the suspected suicide of 26-year-old IT firm executive Shravani TP and her two-year-old son Sai Manas, they have now concluded it to be a murder case. Police had initially thought that the 26-year-old had killed her son first and took her own life in their Vijayapura residence in Devanahalli (near Bengaluru airport). Even Shivani’s parents and husband did not suspect it to be a case of murder, police said as a bottle of poison was found beside the body.

On Thursday, police said they have arrested Hemanth Kumar M, who worked for an internet service provider, for allegedly strangling the mother and son. Hemanth who was in a relationship with Shivani allegedly committed the crime after she refused to leave her husband. Police have now found that on the day of murder, Shivani was on leave and her husband Rajesh S was working as usual in a school in Chikkaballapur.

The police began probing other angles as a towel was found beside the bodies. Traces of poison were also found in Shivani’s hands and face and there was no suicide note either. The suspicion of Doddaballapura Deputy Superintendent R Mohan Kumar and Vijayapura Circle Inspector DR Prakash who were leading the probe was confirmed by the autopsy report.

“But the crime scene suggested foul play, as there were strangulation marks on Shravani’s neck, and the towel used to strangle her was also found around her neck,” police officials told media.

Based on phone call records, police found Hemanth was in contact with Shivani regularly and he was called for questioning when he confessed to the crime. According to police, Hemanth went to Shivani’s residence with a bottle of poison and asked her to kill herself with him. He killed her when she refused to do so by strangling her with the towel. He killed Manas too, fearing he could be a witness to the crime.

DJ Khaled, Floyd Mayweather Jr. charged with cryptocurrency fraud

November 30, 2018 by Nasheman

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has charged music producer DJ Khaled and boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. with promoting investments in initial cryptocurrency coin offerings without revealing that they had been paid.

The stock market regulatory authority on Thursday said that cryptocurrency coins sold in initial coin offerings (ICO) may be considered securities and subject to federal securities laws, reports CNN.

Both Khaled and Mayweather settled with the SEC and agreed not to promote any securities, even digital ones, for two years and three years, respectively, it said.

They also agreed to give back the money they had received to the SEC and pay penalties with interest.

Mayweather failed to disclose that he had received $300,000 from three different ICO issuers, including $100,000 from Centra Tech.

Khaled failed to disclose a payment of $50,000 from the same company.

Centra has separately been charged by the SEC, which alleged that its ICO was fraudulent.

Both Mayweather and Khaled promoted Centra’s ICO on their social media accounts. Khaled called it a “game changer” while Mayweather encouraged his followers to get in on the ICO.

This is the first time the SEC has brought charges against individuals for promoting ICOs and the investigation was ongoing.

US inmate confesses to 90 murders

November 30, 2018 by Nasheman

A 78-year-old inmate sentenced to life behind bars for the murders of three women in the US, recently confessed to 90 homicides between 1970 and 2005, the FBI has said.

If confirmed, this number of murders would make Samuel Little one of the most prolific serial killers in US history, Efe reported on Thursday.

Little was arrested in September 2012 at a homeless shelter in Kentucky and extradited to California, where he was wanted for drug crimes.

Once in Los Angeles, authorities linked his DNA to that found in the murders of three women between 1987 and 1989. In all three cases, the victims were beaten, strangled and then their bodies dumped in an alley, a dumpster and a garage.

Little was sentenced to three terms of life imprisonment for those three crimes, but police wanted to share his DNA and details of his modus operandi with the FBI so that a deeper investigation could be undertaken.

What the FBI found was an “alarming pattern and compelling links to many more murders,” mostly “marginalized and vulnerable women who were often involved in prostitution and addicted to drugs.”

“Their bodies sometimes went unidentified and their deaths uninvestigated,” the FBI statement added.

A lead on a case then took the FBI to Texas: “We found a case out of Odessa, Texas, that sounded very much like him, and we could place him passing through the area around the same time,” said ViCAP Crime Analyst Christina Palazzolo in the statement.

Accompanied by the Texas Rangers, the FBI decided to question Little last spring in a California prison, where he agreed to cooperate in exchange for a prison transfer.

“He went through city and state and gave Ranger Holland the number of people he killed in each place. Jackson, Mississippi – one; Cincinnati, Ohio – one; Phoenix, Arizona – three; Las Vegas, Nevada – one,” Palazzolo explained.

Little remembered his victims and the murders with great detail and he was even able to draw the faces of some of his victims.

In total, Little confessed to 90 murders over a 35-year period, with the killings being committed all over the country. Of those 90, 34 have already been confirmed.

November 29, 2018 by Nasheman

The Delhi High Court on Thursday extended former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram’s interim protection from arrest in the INX Media money laundering case till January 15.

The court was hearing Chidambaram’s anticipatory bail petition, seeking protection from arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case.

On July 25, the court had granted him interim protection, which was later extended to November 29.

The ED and the CBI are probing how Chidambaram’s son Karti managed to get clearance from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB).

Karti was arrested on February 28 by the CBI for allegedly taking money to facilitate the FIPB clearance to INX Media in 2007 when his father was the Union Finance Minister in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.

Later, Karti was granted bail.

Karti’s chartered accountant S. Bhaskararaman was arrested in the case by the ED and he too was later granted bail.

16-yr-old girl killed for refusing to marry

November 28, 2018 by Nasheman

For 16-year-old Keerthana, life had become troublesome after her relative Naveen (28) had been stalking her for months. However, tragedy struck on Wednesday morning when Naveen followed her to school and hacked her to death in broad daylight.

“Three to four years ago, Keerthana’s sister got married to Naveen’s brother. Ever since, Naveen has been pestering Keerthana’s family that once she turns 18, the family would have to get her married to him,” the Doddaballapura Town Police said.

However, Keetrhana staunchly opposed the match and had dreams of pursuing higher studies. “She had refused to marry him multiple times. Every time they would fight about it, Naveen would tell her parents and they would pacify him by saying that she is still a girl. They had planned to get her married to him after she turned 18 years,” the police added.

Keerthana stood her ground and told her parents that she would never marry Naveen. “He began stalking her a few months ago and would constantly harass her and force her to be in a relationship with him. Keerthana felt that he was too old for her and she did not like his behaviour. She had told him that she would never marry him,” the police added.

When the stalking persisted, Keerthana had allegedly approached the Doddaballapura Police three months ago in order to scare Naveen. “She wanted him to stop stalking her and leave her alone. She, however, did not want to file a complaint then. She had requested the police to warn Naveen,” the police said.

Soon after, Keerthana noticed that Naveen would not come by her school every day and the persistent harassment had stopped. “But Naveen had not stopped stalking her. He just did not go up to her and talk or harass her. But the stalking continued. Naveen began to suspect that Keerthana was in a relationship with another man,” the police said.

On Wednesday morning, Naveen followed Keerthana to school and a few meters away from the school gate, he allegedly confronted her and voiced his suspicion. Police say that a loud argument broke out between the two on the street. “According to a few witnesses, Keerthana allegedly told Naveen that she would rather die than get married to him. She also told him that she would never marry him or be in a relationship with him,” the Doddaballapura police said.

Naveen then took out a sickle, which he brought along with him and hacked Keerthana’s neck and ran away. Passers-by noticed the young girl lying face down on the street with blood all over her and immediately called an ambulance.

The police and ambulance arrived and rushed her to a nearby hospital. “Naveen, meanwhile, had gone back home and consumed poison. He was rushed to the hospital and is recovering now. Keerthana was declared brought dead,” the police said.

A case of stalking and murder has been registered at the Doddaballapura Town Police Station.
