Customs officials seize 2.8 kg gold from passenger at Kannur airport

Kannur, Apr 19 :The customs sleuths seized 24 gold biscuits weighing about 2.802 kilograms and valued about Rs 91.3 lakh, from a passenger who arrived at Kannur International Airport from Muscat, on Friday.

Customs Assistant Commissioner O Pradeepan told UNI that they seized the gold and arrested the passenger Muhammed Sadhik hailing from Kallachi near Nadapuram in Kozhikode district and arrived at the Airport in an Air India flight this morning.

The contraband gold was kept hidden in a mixie after removing its motor.

He would be produced before a court later in the evening, customs officials said.

Father kills his son, younger daughter and injures elder daughter in Telangana

Sangareddy, Apr 17 : In a shocking incident, a father, killed his son, younger daughter and attempted to kill elder daughter too but she escaped with injuries at Bombai Colony, Ramachandrapuram in this district on Tuesday midnight.

Police said, Kumar and his wife Shiresha residing in Bombay colony along with three children–Malleswari (10), Akil (7) and Saranya (4).

Having differences with husband, Shiresha went her mothers’s house recently. Irritated Kumar, in a drunken state, hanged Akil, Saranya and attempted to kill Mallerwarai with knife but she escaped with injuries.

On information, police who registered a case has taken Kumar into custody.

“Further investigation is underway,” police added.

Police seize Rs 74.65 lakh in Kolhapur

Kolhapur, Apr 17 : The Kolhapur and Jaysingpur police have seized unaccountable cash worth Rs 74.65 lakh in Gurkha, here, officials on Wednesday said.
In a joint operation police and election financial inspector of Hatkanangale Lok Sabha constituency Kolhapur district, on Tuesday raided a resident and shop of Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghstana (SSS), present deputy Sarpanch of Sambhajipur village in Shirol tehsil and seized cash worth Rs 74.65 lakh and raw ‘gutkha’ materials.
Police arrested Gausmahamad alias Barkat Anvar Gavande (47), worker of SSS.
Police immediately informed IT and Drugs officials, who later investigated and took the action.
With cause of sensation in the district on a back drop of ongoing election following Police expressed possibility of illegal cash, which to be used for election purpose in Hatkanangale lok sabha constituency.
The seized material was handed over to the police for further probe.

Notorious Rowdy sheeter,Murder accused nabbed after shootout by Rajagopalnagar police.

* On 3rd  April 2019,A Spine Chilling Murder took place near Annapoorneshwarinagar under Rajagopalnagar police Station limits.
The North Division police of Rajagopalnagar Police have opened fire on murder accused a prime accused in the Narasimha alias Chowki Narasimha case.When they escorted him to recover the weapon used in killing.
The accused has been identified as Sachin,22,Hitesh and Karthik. 
The accused has murdered the victim with the knife stabbing him multiple times and he even stole the belongings of victim to hide his identity.
Rajagopalnagar police inspector and his team were success in cracking the case. 
After the murder the accused Sachin was hiding in Mandya inspector Dinesh Patil and his team arrested him from Mandya and other associate as Hitesh was also arrested by the team and Karthik surrendered to the court.
Sachin was taken to custody in Mandya by the team. 
Inspector Dinesh Patil opened two rounds of fire one air and one in self defense to protect his and staff life and in self defense he shot at the accused Sachin when he tried to escape. 
Sachin is a rowdy sheeter in Nandini Layout police station attempt to murder and house breaking theft with theft case are registered against him. 
DCP North,N.Shashi Kumar told media persons that,that as on 3rd April 2019 a murder case was reported in Rajagopalnagar Police station limits in which unknown assailants have stabbed a person to death on 2nd main road Annapoorneshwarinagar area under Rajagopalnagar police Station limits I myself with ACP,Dhananjaya with Rajagopalnagar inspector Dinesh Patil with his crime staff with dog squad and finger print experts visited the spot after inspecting the spot we formed a special teams to crack the case the team swung into action and after analysing CCTV footage in the area the team got some incriminating evidences at the crime scene based on the evidence with the help of technical inputs the team traced the prime accused who was hiding in Mandya the team rushed their and arrested him and during the course of investigation he confessed the crime and based on his statement the crime team arrested his associate Hitesh also and the cops grilled him to ascertain the reason behind the murder the accused Sachin spilled the beans that there was a minor disagreement took place between them in the matter of bike and money they both are known to each other so there was minor disagreements for this he hatched a plan with his associates Hitesh and Karthik as on 2nd April in the late midnight when Narasimha alias Chowki Narasimha was passing from 2nd main road in Annapoorneshwarinagar area he and his associates committed the crime using Sharp weapons as knife they stabbed him multiple times and murdered him he was killed on the spot when our inspector and his team rushed to spot he was lying in the pool of blood they even said to hide his identity they even stole his belongings and  hided somewhere near Shivapura lake in outskirts of Peenya and based on his statement the inspector and his team escorted him to recovory of weapon and other things related to the offence and while the team reached to the spot the accused tried escaping by pelting stone and pushing our staff as he dint stop pelting stones the inspector warned by opening a AIR fire and asked him to surrender but as he dint heed to inspectors warning again he tried to attack our staff in self defense in protecting his and his staff life the inspector Dinesh Patil opened one more round fire which hited on the knee portion of his leg with this he suffered bullet injuries on his leg.Immediately the accused Sachin who suffered bullet injuries was rushed to hospital with crime staff jayashankar and prakash naik constables of Rajagopalnagar have suffered minor injuries are admitted to srinivas nursing home near euro flex cross all are out of danger.A detailed investigation by the crime team after arresting Sachin it was came to light Sachin is a rowdy sheeter in nandini layout police Station and has 307 attempt to murder,397 robbery house breaking and theft and  theft cases against him a case has been registered in Rajagopalnagar Police station and further investigation is on and finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,T.Suneel Kumar,Addl CP West,BK Singh,has appreciated DCP,North,N.Shashikumar,ACP Malleshwaram,Sub-Division,Dhananjaya,PI,Dinesh Patil and his crime staff as,Jayashankar and Prakash Naik with other staff for the tremendous efforts and commendable job done in cracking the murder case and nabbing the notorious accused he added.

Shepard arrested on charges of murder of a College girl

Kalaburagi, Apr 13 : A Shepard was arrested on charges of murder of a 20 year-old Engineering College girl student in the city on Friday.
Police said on Saturday that the arrested was identified as Mehabub Sultan Shekh (55).
The incident took place when the accused, who was peddling his cycle by keeping the sickle on the backside of his cycle, suddenly took left turn and the victim 20 year-old Megha Hiregoudar, Computer Science student of PDA Engineering College, who was riding her ‘scooty’ tried to stop to avoid hitting him but her vehicle got skidded and she fell down and the sickle carried by the accused slit her throat.
Due to heavy bleeding She died on the way to hospital.

Gang of Eight Inter-State Organised Cheating and Illegal arms selling gang busted,2 Country made pistols,8 live bullets,Cash Seized by CCB Police. 
The Central Crime Branch Police of organised Crime Wing as OCW sleuths  arrested a inter-state organised cheating gang of eight and recovered two country-made pistols,eight live cartridges, an air gun,Rs.55,000 cash,500 ml of chloroform,1 Toyota camry car,Two Royal Enfield bullets recovered from their possession. 
The accused has been identified as,identified as Shakeel Ahmed (24),from Hebbal,Shravan Khatri (32),from Rajasthan, Imran Khan (31),from Amaravathy,Jaleel Umar (29),from Bhatkal,Rafi Ahmed Khan (20),from Kolar,Syed Waseem (25),from Nagawara,Mohammed Hasan Ansari (43), from Mumbai,and Imran Raees (23), from Uttar Pradesh.
The accused were caught red handed with the weapons on Taralabalu Road in R.T. Nagar by OCW wing police inspector Murugendraiah.M,and his team. 
The accused used to cheat people in the name of ‘rice pulling’ copper bowl for fortune and waylaid their victims at gunpoint.

The Bengaluru Police commissioner with other senior officers has appealed to citizens across city not to fall in prey of Rice pulling and all as the conmen will cheat you.

The conmen used to offered a piece of metal saying it would bring him good fortune and, over the last 10 year, many have paid the scamsters close to crores to buy the metal,Rice pulling’ is a well-known trick in which scamsters sell a metal piece that apparently brings good fortune to the person who buys it.They even claim that the metal is decades or even centuries old and narrate stories of how the metal has changed the fortune of people who owned it.In numerous cases,they fake a market demand for the product,trapping prospective buyers.In many case,the accused claimed that the metal was from the US and they used to lure with Steel powder coated rice and kept a magnet hidden under the vessel to ensure that it attracted rice with this technique they might cheat you so don’t fall to this prey.
Alok Kumar,Addl CP, Crime,said,two from the gang came here to sell weapons and along with other accused,started to indulge in multiple crimes like burglary, robbery,and cheating.The gang members were always on the lookout for vulnerable businessmen and tried to attract them by telling about the magical rice pulling bowl which can bring fortunes.Once the gullible businessmen gets trapped to their prey and when they reach to spot with cash,the accused used to rob them at gunpoint and later put them into a state of being unconscious using chloroform he added.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner,T.Suneel Kumar,told media persons that,a team led  by Additional Commissioner of Police Crime,Alok Kumar,DCP Crime,Girish S,under the leadership of ACP,OCW,B.Balaraju,PI,Murugendraiah.M, received a credible information that some persons are trying to sell country made pistol and are indulged in cheating people at the gun point as soon as the information passed as the team of CCB were on search of gun trial in the city the team rushed to spot and zeroed in all the eight persons red handed while trying to sell country made pistols to their customers the team arrested all the accused and recovered two country-made pistols,8 live bullets,one air gun,24 inch one cutter,Rs.55,000 cash,1 chloroform 500ml bottle,1 Car,two Enfield bullets with other equipments.During the press conference Suneel Kumar said preliminary investigation by the the CCB sleuths it has come to light that the gang is operating across the states from past 2 years in cheating people at gun point with the process of threatening them at gun point and rob their valuables.We suspect the accused have planned to rob the business man with the Rice pulling technique by offering them sell them herbs,antiques and other items.Once the victim approached them with the cash, the gang planned to rob them at gun point.As many are been cheated fooled with this rice pulling to the tune of crores.Suneel Kumar said we have appealed to citizens to not to fall in this prey of Rice pulling many times but also thousands of people are getting fooled when I was DCP north in 2010 from that time this rice pulling criminals are fooling innocent people by giving them false promises.After the press conference,T.Suneel Kumar paraded the accused and while questioning about from where they are one of the accused who is from Bengaluru said he is working as a car dealer he was came to contact with all other accused in a pooja liveband in Sheshadripuram they befriended each other and they used to source weapons and bullets from Amaravathy near Maharashtra and they used to sell to their clients another accused said his boss Sohail sent him to Bengaluru to get Black Turmeric powder from one Shakeel so he came to Bengaluru to take the Black Turmeric powder when the commissioner asked him for what it is used he said they said it will be useful to break open any 7 levels locks easily to commit offences as if the black turmeric powder is putted on the locks it will automatically break open the accused Mohammed Hasan Ansari explained and he said they sell this powder for the cost of Rs.10 Crore rupees for 1kg black turmeric powder.Many officers said we heard first time about black turmeric powder and we will investigate further as they are telling truth or not and a case has been registered in RT Nagar police station and all the eight accused were produced before the court on Monday and they have been remanded to police custody for eight days and finally Bengaluru police commissioner,T.Suneel Kumar,has appreciated Addl CP,Crime,Alok kumar,DCP,Crime,Girish.S,ACP,Balaraju.B,PIs,as,Murugendraiah. M,Lakshmikanthaiah, Harish,Dharmendra,and staff as,Dinesh Shetty,Harishchandra,Dhananjaya,Raghavendra,Harish,and Mahanthesh and other staff has been appreciated and a cash reward of Rs.1 lakh has been announced to the whole team for the commendable job done by them who has busted the inter-state organised cheating gang and illegal arms selling gang members he added.

Furious Janasena candidate destroys EVM at polling booth in AP ; arrested

Anantapur, Apr 11 : Janasena Party Assembly Candidate Madhusudhan Gupta was arrested after he smashed an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) at a polling booth in this district of Andhra Pradesh during voting on Thursday.

Mr Gupta went to 183 polling booth after the polling began. He was apparently angry over the poor arrangements made by polling staff and argued with them. Later in a fit of rage, he threw the EVM Machine on the ground.

Later, police arrested him.

Meanwhile, Janasena Party President and actor-turned-politician K Pawan Kalyan condemned the smashing of EVM by his candidate.

Mr Pawan Kalyan admitted that his candidate committed mistake by smashing the EVM.

He expressed dissatisfaction over many EVMs breaking down during the course of polling.

Police seize Rs 1 crore in cash from a BMW car in Delhi

Police said in view of the Lok Sabha elections, they have intensified patrolling in several intersections across the national capital. “On Tuesday, a police team was deputed at picket near a church on Poorvi Marg in Vasant Nagar area to check vehicles carrying cash and other prohibited articles in view of the forthcoming elections.

“During checking, they randomly stopped a BMW car and found cash amounting Rs one crore in it,” Devender Arya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) said. Other agencies including the income tax department have been informed about the seizure, he added.

The Lok Sabha polls, conducted in seven phases, will begin on April 11 and continue till May 19. Delhi will vote on May 12 and the overall results will be declared on May 23.

Defamation charge framed against journalist Priya Ramani

A Delhi court today framed defamation charge against journalist Priya Ramani in a case filed by ex-Union minister M J Akbar after she leveled allegations of sexual misconduct against him.

Court listed the matter for hearing on May 4

Ramani, who appeared before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal, however, pleaded not guilty and claimed trial.

Last October, Ramani had written an article for Vogue where she mentioned about an editor’s advances.

Akbar, who resigned as the Union minister last October 17, filed a private criminal defamation complaint against Ramani after his name cropped up on social media as the #MeToo campaign raged on in India.

Akbar has since denied the charges leveled by Ramani.

The court listed the matter for hearing on May 4 and also granted a permanent exemption to Ramani from personal appearance.

Bengaluru CCB Police of special enquiry squad team have conducted raids across city for the ongoing cricket betting of IPL T20 and nabbed three person and seized totally Rs.10.39 lakhs cash with 22 mobile phones and other materials. 
The accused have been identified as H.V.Chowdegowda,38 year old resident of KR Puram.Vishwanath,35,year old resident of Heganahalli,Shaikh Shafi,32,resident of lottegolahalli. 
The accused was collecting betting on the ongoing IPL matches through Mobile App. 
The sleuths have seized Rs.10.39 lakhs cash betting amount with 22 mobile phones from their possession. 
Acting on tip off CCB sleuths under the leadership of DCP Crime,Girish.S,and his team conducted raids on houses in KR Puram,Rajgopalnagar,Kodigehalli police Station limits. 
Senior officer,told media persons that a credible information was passed to our Special Enquiry Squad team headed by DCP Crime,Girish.S,that,there is ongoing betting is going on in KR Puram,Rajagopalnagar,Kodigehalli police station limits based on credible Information the team swung into action and as on 29th March,CCB sleuths conducted raid on a house in Kodigehalli police station limits near Jalgaram temple and arrested one person who was indulged in cricket betting through Mobile App for the ongoing Mumbai Indian v/s RCB IPL T20 the cops have caught the accused identified as Shaikh Shafi,32 year old resident of lottegolahalli and seized Rs.2.5 lakhs cash and 18 mobiles with other materials from his possession and efforts are on trace Mukesh a bookie a case has been registered in Kodigehalli police Station he added.As on 31st March the CCB sleuths of special enquiry squad has raided a house in Rajagopalnagar police station limits near Heganahalli and arrested one person who was indulged in cricket betting for the ongoing Sunrisers Hyderabad v/s,Royal Challengers Bangalore the cops have caught the accused identified as Vishwanath,35 year old resident of Heganahalli red handed and seized Rs.1.89 lakhs cash and 2 mobiles the accused used to give access to the punters through 365 play Mobile App who used to submit Rs.5000 and above as deposit to play and he used to work on behalf of Nithin a bookie efforts are on trace the bookie a case has been registered in Rajagopalnagar Police station and investigation is on.As on 7th April the sleuths have conducted raid in KR Puram police station limits near old madras road A2B Hotel behind parking space a person was running the racket through a mobile app and giving access to punters who bet with him and he is indulged in cheating people by not paying their money based on the information CCB, Special Enquiry Squad team swung into action and caught the accused red handed and seized Rs.6 Lakhs cash and 2 mobiles and other materials and during the course of investigation the accused confessed the crime and it is revealed that the accused used to give access to the mobile app on submitting a deposit using which punters can place bets on the IPL matches a detailed investigation by the team has revealed that he used to get deposits and used to cheat people and he was working on behalf of Krishnappa a bookie efforts are on to trace Krishnappa a case has been registered in KR Puram police station and accused has been taken into custody for further investigation is on with this raids the team and finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,T.Suneel Kumar,has appreciated,Addl CP,Crime,Alok Kumar,DCP Crime,Girish.S,and his team as,ACP,N.H.Ramachandraiah, PI,V.Narayanswamy,Kumar.A.P,and staff has John Kenny,Nagaraj,Ravi Kumar,Srinivas,Vinod and other staff who has done a tremendous job and has successfully nabbed 3 persons and seized Rs.10.39 lakhs cash with 22 mobiles from them he added.
