Actress Swastika Mukherjee, who stars in Sushant Singh Rajput’s yet-to-be-released film Dil Bechara, wrote a powerful post after the actor’s death last Sunday. “Why write fake RIPs?” asked Swastika, joining the social media outrage over condolence messages from several celebrities, accused of alleged double standards. Ms Mukherjee also condemned the often-distasteful media coverage around Sushant’s death and wrote: “I am never going to recover from this disgust. Never. Ever. Ever. The disgust that the media, social media and agenda peddlers collectively have thrown at us. Why write fake RIPs? We didn’t even allow the man to do that.” Swastika Mukherjee, star of many Bengali films, also worked with Sushant Singh Rajput in Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!, one of Mr Rajput’s best known films.

After Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, a handful of celebs such as Ranvir Shorey, Nikhil Dwivedi, Anubhav Sinha, Shekhar Kapur and Raveena Tandon, wrote about “mean girls” and “the Bollywood Privilege Club” in their posts but omitted names while Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt, both of who mourned Mr Rajput in social media posts, have been censured for having spoken disparingly about the actor on an episode of Koffee With Karan.

“He was fighting till he was alive, he is fighting even from his grave,” Swastika Mukherjee added in her post. Sushant Singh Rajput, last seen in Netflix film Drive, was found dead at his Mumbai residence on Sunday. He died by suicide, say the police, who are carrying out an investigation. The police will also probe allegations that Mr Rajput was depressed because of professional rivalry. Sharing a photo with Sushant Singh Rajput and actress Sanjana Sanghi, who also stars in Dil Bechara, Ms Mukherjee wrapped her post with these words: “Sorry Sushant, we are sorry. I’ll remember this happy you. Today and always.”

Philanthropist moves HC against Good Newz

December 25, 2019 by Nasheman

Mysoorean says promos of the movie virtually force and coax people to get IVF service only at a particular centre

BENGALURU: A philanthropist from Mysuru moved the High Court seeking directions to stop the screening of the Hindi movie, ‘Good Newwz’, starring Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor, scheduled for release on December 27. Sameem Raza of Udayagiri in Mysuru claimed that the trailer/promos of the movie virtually “force and coax” people to get services only at Indira IVF Centers, indirectly suggesting the possibilities of mixing or exchanging of sperms at other centres.

The court posted the case to Friday for hearing. The petitioner, who runs a non-governmental organisation in Mysuru, contended that the movie could create confusion in the minds of patients who have already taken the service of assisted pregnancy at centres other than Indira IVF Centers. He said the visuals and dialogues the movie involve “defamation” of other IVF centres whose dignity will be undermined.

“The trailer/promos virtually force and coax the patients to take services only at the Indira IVF Centers. It also indirectly suggests the possibility of mixing or exchanging of sperms in centres other than Indira IVF Centers. The same will undermine the dignity of the other such centres”, he claimed. He stated that confusions are bound to crop up about the paternity of the child of a patient which could affect the family “irretrievably”.

Even the patient may have to face humiliation just because they have taken services from a centre other than the one mentioned in the movie. “The visuals and words spoken in the movie affect human sensibilities and the public order is endangered. Therefore, the movie is against the guidelines of the Central Board of Film Certificate (CBFC)”, he claimed.

Anurag Kashyap

MUMBAI: Amid the charged environment countrywide on the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act, Anurag Kashyap took to Twitter to call Prime Minister Narendra Modi an ‘Urban Nazi’.

Taking a sarcastic dig at the speech, Anurag Kashyap shared a video of Adolf Hitler on Monday morning, where he apparently says: “I know who is hating me. Hate me it is your wish but don’t hate Germany.”

The filmmaker captioned the video: “hate me but don’t hate India” bechare hamare Pradhan Mantri #UrbanNazi.”

He also posted a tweet in Hindi on Sunday evening which roughly translates to, “PM Sahab, the police are beating up the common people everywhere, who are either fighting back or fleeing. Several have been killed. It’s not good to be so blind. If possible, visit a good eye specialist doctor, and try speaking a little bit about those who have actually died. Stop lying. #JaiSamvidhan”.

While delivering a speech at Delhi’s Ramlila ground on Sunday, the Prime Minister had said: “Burn Modi’s effigy, but do not burn public property. Hate me if you want to, but don’t hate India. Burn my effigy, but don’t burn a poor man’s auto-rickshaw.”

The filmmaker has been a staunch critic of the recently amended Citizenship Act and has actively voiced his dissent about the issue.

Hundreds in Rajasthan protest over ‘wrong facts’ in ‘Panipat’

December 10, 2019 by Nasheman

People also protested against the use of Rajasthani and Haryanvi in the film, saying they speak Braj language (western Hindi language).

JAIPUR: People in Rajasthan have protested against Panipat, the film which was released on Friday, alleging distortion of history. They have claimed that the movie portrays Maharaja Surajmal in wrong light. He is shown as a greedy ruler which he never was.

As per the film, Maratha warrior Sadashiv Rao Bhau (a character played by Arjun Kapoor) asked Maharaja Surajmal for help to defeat the Afghans, but he demanded the Agra Fort in return.

As his demand remained unfulfilled, he refused to help Sadashiv.

They are also protesting against the use of Rajasthani and Haryanvi in the film, saying they speak Braj language (western Hindi language).

Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal in his tweet has requested the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to look into it. “I request #CBFC @PrakashJavdekar @prasoonjoshi_ to look into the matter #panipatmovie to avoid protest, law & order problem. No film or art can misreport history,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tourism Minister Vishvendra Singh, who belongs to the erstwhile royal family of Bharatpur, tweeted: “I have woken up to an astonishing amount of tweets, Facebook posts and messages seeking my opinion on the portrayal of my ancestor and the founder of Bharatpur – Maharaja Surajalmal Ji – in the recently released Panipat movie.”

“I have not seen the movie yet. I will watch the film this afternoon and will express my opinion this evening. What I can say though is that Maharaja Surajmal Ji’s dialect in the film is incorrect. We are proud of our Brij heritage and he always spoke and wrote in Brij and not the dialect portrayed in the film. More after I watch the film,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, Twitter is going berserk with Rajasthan locals protesting the representation of wrong facts in the film.

Jat leader Nem Singh Faujdaar on Saturday burnt an effigy of film director Aashutosh Gavarikar at the Surajmal Square on Saturday amid presence of hundreds of people who raised slogans against him.

Maharaj Surajmal had been portrayed as a greedy ruler, which we couldn’t tolerate, he said.

Historian Ramveer Sharma, who has written many books, said Agra was already under king Surajmal and what had been showed in the movie was wrong.

“Maharaj Surajmal went to the Maratha camp and saved many women and children who were taken to Gwalior and Deeg forts,” he said.

Former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Saturday tweeted displeasure over misrepresentation on facts. “The wrong picturisation of a king who was full of self-respect, honest and courteous is condemnable,” she tweeted.
