Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday called upon the need for ‘Back to Thirthahalli’ campaign by those from Thirthahalli settled in Bengaluru.
You should pay back to your native land, your alma mater, your parents,he said participating in the ‘Sneha Sammilana’ programme of the community.
The Chief Minister termed Thirthahalli as the land of God as it is blessed with natural beauty and the people are hard working and intelligent.
Recalling the contribution of Shivamogga district to the State, Bommai said,it has given former Chief Ministers like Kadidal Manjappa,S Bangarappa,JH Patel and BS Yediyurappa. Jnanpith awardee Kuvempu is from this land.
Revival of VISL
Shivamogga has seen total transformation after BS Yediyrappa became the Chief Minister. Shivamogga is perhaps the most systematic city after Bengaluru in the State, he said.
Referring to Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Limited Bommai said, “we are thinking about revival of VISL through private participation.”
