New Delhi, Apr 4 : Accusing the BJP of being involved in a ‘cash for votes’ scandal after recovery of huge amount of cash in raid on Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s convoy on the eve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Pasighat, the COngress on Thursday said that it will approach the Election Commission on Friday and ask to file FIR against PM and the Arunachal CM in this regard.
Speaking to mediapersons here , Congress leader Randeep Surejewala said that around Rs 1.8 crore was srecovered during a raid on Arunachal CM Khandu’s convoy on Tuesday night.
In this connection, two people were questioned, who accepted about the presence of cash and further said that the money was collected from his relatives for some work.
Mr Surjewala questioned that if this money was of some of the relatives of a BJP leader then why was it being mobilized with the Chief Minister’s convoy at midnight.
He said that the Chief Minister’s convoy was heading towards the venue where Mr Modi’s rally was scheduled on Wednesday.
Mr Surjewala alleged that if the money was taken to the venue it was being taken to influence voters and that a complaint would be lodged with the Commission in this regard.
He said that the party has sought time from the Electuon Commission on Friday to take the matter forward and file the complaint.
The Congress leaders will meet the Commission and complain about this matter and demand lodging of FIR against PM Modi and CM Khandu.
Simultaneously, the party will also ask the commission to cancel the nomination of BJP candidate from that area, the Congress leader said.
