The North Division police of Malleshwaram police on Monday arrested four persons including owner of a junk shop and recovered 100 batteries worth Rs.5 lakh from them.
Senior officer told reporters,Based on a complaint that six batteries have been stolen from a RMU unit (an an electrical power distribution system, a ring main unit (RMU) is a factory assembled, metal enclosed set of switch gear used at the load connection points) situated near government college on 18th cross in Malleshwaram.
Acting on the complaint PI,Malleshwaram and his team swung into action the police team verified the CCTV footage in and around the area and with the technical inputs the team track down the accused.
During investigation the accused confessed the crime and based on their statement the team have also seized three autorickshaws including two passengers and a goods autorikshaw from the accused which they used to move around and transport stolen batteries.
A detailed investigation by the team it has revealed that the prime accused having a junk shop at Kogilu cross used to rope in three of his associates from his home town in Tamil Nadu and steal the batteries installed at the BESCOM units in and around the city.
With their arrest the police recovered 100 batteries and cracked 11 batteries theft cases reported in Malleshwaram, Srirampura,Sheshadripuram,Varthur,Vyyalikaval, Giri Nagar,Sadashivanagar and Halasuru police station limits.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,C H Pratap Reddy,has appreciated Addl CP West, Sandeep Patil,DCP North,Vinayak Patil,ACP Malleshwaram Sub-Division,Praveen M,PI, Chandrashekhar M,PSIs,as,Vinod Jirgale,Srishaila Uttagi,and crime staff as,Mehboob Sab,Umesh,Sunil Kumar,Subhash,Amaresh,Chandan,Ananth kumar,and others has been appreciated for the exemplary and meticulous investigation done by them in nabbing the notorious battery thieves gang and a suitable reward will be given to whole team he added.
