Bengaluru, Apr 30 : The controversial meeting of the ‘like-minded’ Congress MLAs
convened by Yeshwanthpur legislator S T Somashekhar in the city Tuesday has been postponed.
The meeting was convened to discuss certain political developments in the state, but it had to postponed due to byelections announced to the two Assembly seats, Somashekhar said.
A meeting of the like-minded Congress MLAs, was convened to meet on Tuesday at a private hotel, in the city.
Amidst the reports of destabilization efforts of the opposition BJP, to topple the government a meeting of like-minded MLAs, the meeting had raised dissatisfaction within the coalition Congress and the JD(S) government leadership. The legislator was also hauled up for calling such a meeting by party in-charge K C Venugopal, party sources said.
The meeting was to cancel as the Party leaders had directed all MLAs, to work for the
success of the party candidates, in the Assembly by-elections, the sources in the party said.
Meanwhile, the KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao, had defended the convening of the
meeting by a section of the party MLAs, and had said that “Ours is a democratic party and can not prevent MLAs to meet together” he said.
