Congress candidate for Lok Sabha’s Patna Sahib constituency Shatrughan Sinha on Monday filed his nomination.
Earlier in the month, Sinha faced a backlash from Congress’ Lucknow candidate for campaigning for his wife Poonam Sinha. Shatrughan responded saying that it is his duty “as the head of the family and a husband to support my family.”
While Shatrughan Sinha is set to take on Bharatiya Janata Party’s Ravi Shankar Prasad from Patna Sahib constituency this Lok Sabha polls, his wife Poonam Sinha – who has been fielded on an SP ticket – will face BJP leader and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Congress’ Pramod Krishnam from Lucknow.
Patna Sahib in Bihar will go to polls in the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha elections on May 19. Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh will conduct general elections for the constituency in the fifth phase on May 6.
