January 17, 2019 by Nasheman

Indian and Pakistani troops traded gunfire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Thursday, defence sources said.

“Our troops effectively retaliated to the unprovoked ceasefire violation. Firing exchanges started at around 4.30 a.m. and continued till 6.30 a.m. No casualty or damage was reported from our side,” the sources said.

Ceasefire violations by Pakistan Army have been intermittently continuing on the LoC in Rajouri and Poonch districts since earlier this month.

Nasheman News :A court-appointed auditors informed the Supreme Court that posh flats which were part of Amrapali Group were booked on sums as low as Re 1, Rs 5 and Rs 11 per sq.ft in the name of over 500 people.

The forensic auditors issued notices to 655 people on whose names “benami” flats were booked but no one was found in 122 such locations, the auditors told the top court while submitting an interim report.

Two audit forensic auditors — Pawan Kumar Agarwal and Ravi Bhatia — told a bench of Justice Arun Mishra and Justice Uday Umesh Lalit that it was found that 23 firms which were part of Amrapali consortium were floated in the name of office staff. These firms were fronts to divert home buyers’ money.

The auditors said that Chief Financial Officer Chander Wadhwa had transferred Rs 4.75 crore to “unidentified persons” on October 23, 2018.

On October 26, 2018, Wadhwa answered all questions of the bench and apologised for his early memory loss. On October 26, 2018, the top court had directed Wadhwa to extend full co-operation and directed Amrapali Group of companies to furnish details of all the bank accounts of its 46 companies.

The court warned Wadhwa of contempt proceedings for his action and said that he is putting spoke in the wheels of justice.

“You very well knew that questions will be asked by the court and hence you transferred the money. We want the entire tranche of money back in seven days’ time,” the bench said.

The auditor also told the bench that Amrapali Group had challenged the Income Tax order related to deleting of the paragraph which mentioned of Rs 200 bogus bills and vouchers for purchasing raw materials.

The court asked to present the orders of the Income Tax Department.

The agreement between JP Morgan Real Estate fund and Amrapali Group were in violation of the provisions of law, the auditors told the court.

The court warned that it may direct Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) to probe the matter.

However, JP Morgan counsel told the court that it would explain everything about the agreement.

The court has listed the matter for further hearing on January 24 and sought legal suggestions on the issue.

The court was hearing various petitions filed by home buyers seeking possession of over 40,000 flats booked in the projects of Amrapali Group.

Jaitley diagnosed with rare cancer

January 17, 2019 by Nasheman

Nasheman News : Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who left for the US for medical treatment, has been diagnosed with a rare kind of cancer and may not be able to present this years Interim Budget on February 1, sources said.

Jaitley had left for the US on Sunday for what was believed to be a medical check-up relating to his kidney ailment. However, sources said he was diagnosed with soft tissue sarcoma, a rare type of cancer, and decided to go for treatment in New York.

There was no word on when he was likely to return, but some sources said he was expected back on January 19, but others said it could be later.

Jaitley, 66, had undergone a renal transplant surgery on May 14 last year. Officials have been tight-lipped about the trip which has come at a time when the Finance Ministry is busy with the preparations of the vote-on-account budget to be presented in the Lok Sabha on February 1 — his sixth and the last by the BJP-led NDA government in its current term.

By convention, an interim budget normally does not contain fresh proposals, especially relating to taxation measures. But the coming vote-on-account budget may spring some surprises like increase in the exemption threshold for income tax assessees and some measures to address agrarian unrest.

Jaitley was admitted to AIIMS last year in early April following which he underwent dialysis. He had a renal transplant surgery on May 14, 2018. In his absence, Railways Minister Piyush Goyal was given the additional charge of Finance Ministry on May 14.

Jaitley stopped attending office at the beginning of April and was back in North Block – the seat of Finance Ministry – on August 23.

Earlier, in September 2014, he underwent a bariatric surgery on account of severe diabetics.

New IS module: NIA raids 7 places in Punjab, UP

January 17, 2019 by Nasheman

Nasheman News : The NIA on Thursday raided seven places in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab in connection with its ongoing probe into a new Islamic State (IS)-inspired module Harkat-ul-Harb-e-Islam, officials said.

The National Investigation Agency teams launched simultaneous searches at seven locations, including Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur, Bulandshahr, Meerut, Hapur and Amroha and Punjab’s Ludhiana, early in the day, a senior NIA official told media.

The fresh searches came five days after counter-terror probe agency arrested a suspect from Hapur for being affiliated with the global terror outfit.

NIA officials also rounded up 50-year-old Mohammad Habib, a resident of Kaloli village in Bulandshahr district. The general store owner has spent over 25 years in Saudi Arabia and can be brought to NIA office in Delhi for questioning, according to an NIA source.

The raids that were still underway, kicked off after the NIA got leads from those arrested during their interrogation. The agency is looking into the role of a foreign mastermind behind the new module.

The action comes in the wake of a case it registered on December 20 under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Explosive Substances Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

On January 11, it had arrested a suspect named Muhammad Absar from Hapur district. Earlier on January 4, Naeem, the alleged arms supplier of the Harkat-ul-Harb-e-Islam, was arrested from Meerut.

The initial arrests though had come late last year on December 26, when 10 members, including mastermind Mufti Mohammad Suhail of the new IS module, were arrested from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh after carrying out searches at 17 places.

The arrested men were allegedly planning to attack some political personalities, security establishments as well as crowded places in Delhi and the National Capital Region.

The NIA also seized 25 kg of explosive material, including potassium nitrate, ammonium nitrate, sulphur, sugar material paste, mobile phone circuits, batteries, 51 pipes, remote control car triggering switch, wireless digital doorbell for remote switch, steel containers, electric wires, knife, sword, IS-related literature and Rs 7.5 lakh in cash.

The agency had also seized a country-made rocket launcher, 12 pistols, 112 alarm clocks, 100 mobile phones, 135 SIM cards, several laptops and various electronic gadgets, besides 150 rounds of ammunition .

The NIA had ever since been carrying out follow-up searches in Uttar Pradesh to identify more suspects of the new IS module.

I don’t regret anything: Jacqueline Fernandez

January 17, 2019 by Nasheman

B

[Nasheman news] New DelhiJacqueline Fernandez credits her success and failure for keeping her balanced and calm. The actress says she doesn’t regret any of her decisions.

“The journey (in Bollywood) has been very rewarding, I have been blessed with opportunities to deliver my best and work with some of the biggest names and films,” Jacqueline told IANS in an email interview.

“I look back and feel satiated to the balance of both successes and failures because both have taught me to be balanced and calm. Whatever I am today is a result of all the choices I made through the journey so I do not regret anything,” added the actress of Sri Lankan origin.

After winning the Miss Sri Lanka beauty pageant in 2006, she made her debut in the Indian film industry with 2009 film “Aladin” opposite actor Riteish Deshmukh. The film turned out to be a dud at the box office, but Jacqueline got noticed and went on to do films like “Housefull 2”, “Murder 2”, “Kick”, “Brothers”, “Dishoom” and “Judwaa 2”.

She says she has learnt a lot through the journey.

“Meeting new people and coming across new experiences have given me several lessons which have been fruitful in not just dealing with the challenges in the industry but also the way of life. The love and support of the audience is my biggest asset that I have earned in my professional career,” added the actress, who launched Skechers D’Lites range in Mumbai earlier this week.

Asked about what she wants to try next, Jacqueline, who skipped an IANS query on the impact of #MeToo movement in Bollywood, says she loves to be surprised.

“So even I am looking forward to the next challenge,” she added.

Talking about her association with the shoe brand, Jacqueline said: “I have always loved the late 1990s era when it comes to fashion, especially the dad hats, jeans and the chunky sneakers have always been my favourite. I was extremely delighted to be a part of the launch of the new range. Being in the showbiz, I love being up-to-date and my interest lies in casual, trendy and comfortable style of footwear.”

She feels shoes let you express “yourself and the mood”.

“You can achieve a look of choice with the perfect shoes,” said Jacqueline, whose Sri Lankan film “According to Matthew” featured in Reminder List of Productions eligible for the 91st Academy Awards.

When it comes to picking brand endorsements, the actress says she is “very particular” about this.

“It is very important that the brands I choose are environment friendly. I would never endorse a brand that in any way harms or hinders animals,” she added.

On the film front, she will soon be seen with actor Sushant Singh Rajput in “Drive”, scheduled to release on June 28.

The Dharma Productions’ project was earlier locked for release on March 2, 2018. Then it was announced that “Drive”, which is said to be a heist film, will race to cinema halls on September 7.

Congress legislator suspended from party

January 16, 2019 by Nasheman

Nasheman News : Punjab Congress legislator Kulbir Singh Zira was on Wednesday suspended from the party’s membership on charges of indiscipline, Punjab Congress President and Member of Parliament Sunil Kumar Jakhar said.

Zira, who is the sitting Congress legislator from the Zira Assembly seat in Ferozepur district, had recently left the stage at an official event where panchayat members were being sworn-in in the presence of the state Congress chief.

He was served a notice by the party for his action.

The suspended MLA had recently raised the issue of drugs in Punjab and levelled serious allegations against senior police officers, accusing them of corruption and patronising the drug trade.

“The party has suspended him for indiscipline. We got his reply for the notice served on him which was not found satisfactory. He should have raised the matter at the party level first,” Jakhar said.

Reacting to the decision, Zira said he welcomes the decision and added that he will continue to raise his voice against drugs.

The Congress government in Punjab under Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had claimed that it has largely wiped out the drugs menace in the state after coming to power in Punjab in March 2017.
