July 2, 2019 by Nasheman

India vs Bangladesh Live Score: 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup: India are placed in second spot on the points table.

India vs Bangladesh Live Score, World Cup 2019: India Face Bangladesh Test, Eye Semis Berth

India vs Bangladesh Live Score: India are a win away from securing a spot in the semi-finals.

India, after tasting their first defeat of World Cup 2019, will take on Bangladesh at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Tuesday and will be eyeing to book a place in semi-finals with a win. Bangladesh, who have impressed everyone by punching above their weight in the World Cup 2019, can’t afford to lose any of their two remaining matches. Bangladesh have seven points from seven matches and are currently seventh in the World Cup points table while India, with 11 points, are placed second. Shakib Al Hasan has performed consistently with both bat and ball for Bangladesh and is third in the leading run-scorers list. Indian opener Rohit Sharma has been in excellent form and has scored three centuries in just six innings. Both teams would want their star players to deliver once again in the crucial game. India suffered a blow before the match as Vijay Shankar was ruled out of World Cup 2019 due to a toe injury. Mayank Agarwal, who made his Test debut debut in Australia last year, is likely to replace Shankar in the squad.

“Unhappy Sister hires contract killers to Murder her brother to delay her daughter marriage “.

The clueless murder case has been detected by Kengeri police and all the five accused has been arrested within 48 hours.
The Kengeri Police Inspector Ramappa B Gutter, and his team has detected the clueless murder case within 48 hours and arrested a 45-year-old woman for allegedly contracting her brother’s murder by hiring four contract killers in order to stop her daughter’s wedding.
The prime accused has been arrested and the accused has been identified as , Gowramma,45,a resident of Maruthinagar, for allegedly killing his own brother by the contract killers identified as Mumtaz,28,resident of Raichur,Munna,22,resident of Koppal,Arju,19,and Sakeeb,19,both resident of West Bengal all the five have been booked for murder.
Investigating officer told,Gowramma has a 23-year-old daughter. Rajashekar had introduced her to one of his friends four months ago and the two fell in love. Rajashekar also supported them when they decided to get married. They were also engaged for three months. But Gowramma did not want her daughter to marry for love. She wanted her to marry a man she chose, Gowramma had allegedly tried to separate the couple on multiple occasions in the past and had failed because of Rajashekar’s intervention. On June 20, Gowramma allegedly approached her neighbour Mumtaz and is said to have asked her to hire men to kill Rajashekar. She knew she could not stop the wedding. So,she informed Mumtaz that the only way to stop the wedding would be to ensure that there is a death in her  family. The family members would then have to go into mourning for a year and hence the wedding would have to called off.She paid Mumtaz Rs 3 lakh and asked her to kill Rajashekar. On June 21, Mumtaz allegedly hired Munna, Arju and Sakeeb to kill Rajashekar. Rajashekar, who was a painter by profession, was allegedly lured by the trio to an abandoned building near Kalyani Layout on the pretext of a project to paint the inner walls of the house. When Rajashekar reached the abandoned house, he was attacked by Munna, Arju and Sakeeb. They stabbed him on his stomach, neck, chest and legs multiple times,Rajashekar’s body was discovered by the locals on the morning of January 22 in visveshwaraya layout.
Ramesh Banoth,DCP,West, told media persons that,as on 22nd June we received a murder complaint in Kengeri police station.A man named Rajashekar was lying in a pool of blood and was murdered brutally by some miscreants in a building in BDA layout. We had to identify the victim. We found an Aadhar card in his pocket. We observed that his throat had been slit and that he had been stabbed in the abdomen 3-4 times we formed a special team to investigate this case. After thorough investigation we found that five people were involved in the murder.Rajashekar’s sister,Gauramma was the main accused. She had a friend named Mumtaz contacted three contract killers to finish the job.The contract killers have also been nabbed and they have been identified as Munna,Arjun and Shakib.During investigation Gauramma has confessed that she was the killer she has confessed that she killed him because he was forcing his daughter to get married to one of his close connections Gauramma was not happy with this alliance so she had him killed he added.
Senior officer, told media persons that as on 22nd June our inspector of Kengeri Police station received a call from one of the neighbour of Maruthi Nagar in BDA layout as some person has been murdered as soon as the inspector Ramappa B Gutter received the call he and his team rushed to spot and noticed a man was lying a pool of blood and a gory murder has taken place as soon the inspector Confrmed that it was a murder he immediately informed the senior officers as ACP and DCP they too rushed to spot with Dog squad and forensic expert was also rushed to spot and after inspecting the whole area of the scene of the crime place the forensic expert got his Aadhar card in his pocket at the scene of the crime and based on the Aadhar card the inspector informed his relatives who also rushed to spot and a case has registered in Kengeri police station under murder case after registering the case and after getting the identity of the victim a team headed by Inspector,Ramappa B Gutter and his staff with crime staff swung into action first they questioned Gauramma Rajashekar’s sister as what led to murder is there is any enemy who has murdered him or it is murder for gaining property for this she said he is very quite person and he was not that kind of person to have enemity with anyone and he used to work as painter by profession and when the incident happened I was at my sister place she said to cops after questioning her cops dint get any clue then one team was pressed into action to collect all the CCTV footages from in and around the vicinity of murder scene the cops collected all the CCTV footages but they dint find any clue with it then the inspector took the case very seriously and it was pride for them to detect the case the inspector with the able guidance of senior officers he sent one team in Mufti or plain clothes near to Rajashekar’s house to collect details the team were asked to keep a close watch on the Rajashekar’s house and check all the movements and team was deployed the team after inquiring in the area got to know that the Rajashekar and his sister used to indulge in quarrel oftenly relating to her daughters marriage and based on this the cops then again called her sister for questioning after taking a technical support and after analysing her call details we found her sister is the last Person who has spoken to her before he was killed the team questioned her what they spoke in the last conversation she said to cops that we were discussing about the preparation of marriage of my daughter as the alliance was fixed by him only and our team got some suspicious and were not convinced with her statement then they again questioned her where was she when the murder took place she said she was at her sister’s house which made our team to get some clue and doubt on her and our team then visited near to her house and they got to know that before the murder Gauramma’s neighbour has shifted the house and one team was pressed in collecting information about the neighbours and the team after analysing the call details they got to know that Gauramma was in constant touch with one number and they used to speak hours together after getting details about the caller our team visited her work spot where our team got to know that the women has left the job and took new sim and after getting the number our team called her to know about the murder in which she said to our cops that she is not aware as what has happened as while having a conversation with her our team got doubt and asked her to come to police station and give her statement she dint turned up and she used to give reason to come to station a special team went and detained the women and during questioning her she admitted that Gauramma is the one who who has given money to her to kill her own brother and based on her statement our team detained Gauramma and during the course of investigation she confessed the crime and said she has given a contract to Mumtaz to kill her brother and she has demanded Rs.3 lakhs and she paid her by selling her own house and she said Mumtaz has hired three contract killer who used to work in under construction building as labourer and after collecting the information about them our team detained all the three before they flee from the city and after arresting them the team grilled all the accused who spilled the beans and it was revealed that Gauramma is the main prime accused who has hatched the plan to kill her own brother by hiring contract killers who called Rajashekar to a abandon building on the pretext of painting project as they were well known that he is a painter by profession so they called him to the building to paint based on which the victim Rajashekar visited the building as soon as he visited the building the criminals thrashed or slited his throat and stabbed him 3-4 times on his abdomen and killed him and the reason for the murder was ego to delay her daughter marriage as she was not happy with the alliance as she was not liking the person with whom her daughter was engaged she was not liking him and she was like she will only search a good guy for her daughter and get her married so to delay the marriage she did a conspiracy of getting murdered of her own brother by contract killers so the marriage can be delayed for atleast one year as whole family will be in mourning and then she can search a good guy by on her own  for her daughter and get her married as she had some bad thoughts about the present person so by selling her house she took the help of her neighbour who hired contract killers by paying them three lakhs to kill his own brother a case has been registered in Kengeri police station and all the five accused has been arrested and further investigation is on and finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Alok Kumar, has appreciated,Addl CP West,Umesh Kumar,DCP West,Ramesh Banoth,ACP Kengerigate Sub-Division,S.Manjunath,PI,Ramappa B Gutter and his PSIs,as,Venkatesh Murthy,Venkateshaiah,Mahadevaiah,Smt.Vanajakshi, and crime staff as,Arasu and others who has done a commendable job and detected the clueless murder case within 48 hours by arresting all the accused he added.

Government of Karnataka hikes traffic penalties for various traffic violations in Bengaluru to prevent accidents :Traffic Chief .
Get ready to pay more if caught for any traffic violation from today in Bangalore as the Karnataka state government has issued a notification based on which the Karnataka state transport department has hiked traffic fines.According to the special gazette, contrary to fixing fines depending on vehicle categories.
For example, till now Rs-300 was flat fine for overspeeding of two wheeler,Four wheeler was Rs-500 now the motorist will asked to pay Rs.1000,and while driving if the owner is found seated in the back and the driver driving the vehicle in over speed then additional Rs.500 rupees will be added to fine totally they need to pay Rs.1500 for the over speeding as owner will also be equally responsible for this as when the owner is also in the vehicle the driver drives in over speed means the owner has not given instruction and educated the driver to drive slow for the safety of him and others,Like this till now Rs-100 was the flat fine for using mobile phones while driving or riding, now Rs 1,000 will be the first penalty of such an offence while offenders have to pay Rs 2,000 for subsequent violations.Similarly, driving without vehicular insurance will now attract a fine of Rs 1,000 which was previously Rs 500, while parking violation was Rs 100 but now it will cost users Rs 1,000 for the first offence and Rs 2,000 for future offences.
Using a mobile phone while driving will attract a fine of Rs 1,000 for the first offence and Rs 2,000 subsequently (earlier it was Rs 300 to Rs 500), while the fine for driving a vehicle without insurance has been increased to Rs 1,000 from Rs 500. At the same time, the parking violation will attract a fine of Rs 1,000 henceforth.
The notification, signed by M.Sathyavathi under Secreatery to the government (transport department),says that the penalties have been revised under the purview of motor vehicles Act of 1988
The revised fines have come into effect immediately after the gazette notification.
According to the notification, exceeding speed limit will earn the driver a ticket of Rs 1,000 while carrying goods with load projection on either side can get you fined of Rs 2,000.
The revised fines have come into effect immediately after the gazette notification :
P.Harishekaran,Additonal CP Traffic,Said last year BTP has sent a proposal to enhance the traffic fine government has taken it very seriously and enhanced the fine for various violations to prevent accident based on the report the Government of karnataka state has issued a new notification on Thursday as on 27th June 2019.In which there are four traffic offences fee the fine have been enhanced from 100 rupees to 1000 rupees. The four offences are,Over speeding,Using Mobile phone or any other electronic gadgets while on driving,Uninsured vehicles and wrong parking these are the four important matter in which the government has issued a special notification to enhance the fine amount. The objective of the state the objective of the government not collecting fine from the public but to reduce accidents and to increase safety and security in metropolitan city like in Bengaluru. It is all our image is there Bengaluru is internationally as very known city where a lot of accidents taking place therefore the government is very serious about it we have submitted the report a year back government has kind enough to consider the all the reports which we have submitted from the police department and Promoglated the orders yesterday enhancing amount from 100 ruppes to 1000 rupees.when asked about the increasing cameras in the city.Harishekaran said right now in Bengaluru City we have 1000 cameras are there there are three types of cameras among the 1000.PTZ cameras,RLVD cameras as Red light violations detection cameras, and Number plate recognition cameras,So in near future we are going to purchase 6000-7000 cameras altogether in another 1 year 1000 cameras to 10,000 cameras is going to be in Bengaluru city it will help the traffic department, law and order department and also crime department. When asked about the government has banned Ola and Uber pooling or sharing while has been stepped in for this Harishekaran said this is the policy matter where the government authority has to react the transport department it not falls under my jurisdictions will you conduct checking regarding this for this he said If they send the report to me for my opinion definitely I will offer my opinion. When asked about how are you going to check the speed as usual over speed is also one of the major offence for this Harishekaran said to check over speeding vehicles we have fifteen special vehicles known as Interceptor vehicles with gadgets to collect the speed of the vehicles so on which we can collect the amount on the based of the evidence based fine collection. Our aerials our aim our objective is not disturbing or humiliating any public.I want to repeat again so it is all evidence based we have lit of electronic gadgets with us and of course I can react to your question in Bengaluru city in CBD as Central Business District area this issue doesn’t arise normally because the speed limit in the hardcore bengaluru city the overspeeding is not a possibilities are very megere and I personally analysed that after 12 o clock I think so after midnight 12 o clock to 6 o clock we have to watch the over speeding within the city there is a possibility. But apart from that the peripheral roads the ring roads and international airport road and all major roads which are seven roads which connects to the bengaluru city there is a possibility of over speeding where we are going to concentrate on the issue simply to reduce the accidents and save the lives.is in major step taken on wheeling by the traffic department,Harishekaran said after assuming charge as a Commissioner  Traffic in Bengaluru city this is one of my very very important project because wheeling it is challenging the police it is not only offence it is challenging the police therefore in law and order crime we used to parade all the rowdies like that I have instructed my officers to call all these wheelie fellows or wonkers last 3 years 4 years and educate them properly because it is not only to endanger life of the wheeler and also the performer or the others it is the open challenge to the police department because there is a department existing here to protect the people this guys are challenging so for this we have to take stringent action against them. The revision in fines is also expected to make drivers more alert and to be aware of the importance of following traffic rules for his/her own safety as well as for the others on the road,When asked about the Bounce bike taxis menace in the city as they park wherever they want in Hapzard manner obstructing the traffic on footpath middle of the road on flyovers too in bus stop and other places he said we have received many complaints from public on various social media platform and the policy is with the government at any moment the papers will come out from union government. The proportion of the fine amount how many crores will increase that is the point which I bring to your notice.Auto drive is going on for not having display card till now 1000 autos has been prosecuted or seized across city. And coming future. We are issuing numbers to autos.and we are alloting numbers to all the autos as to detect crimes there is no harrasement nothing all the particulars will be available in the system at the headquarters we will give numbers to autos from 1 to 1 lakh autos it will be just sticker if any person left their belongings or if any auto driver has commited any offence or indulged in criminal activities the people can recognize and report that so and so stickered number Auto it will be easily to recognize. How people coming from other cities will come to know that the traffic police are penalising 1000 rupees for over speeding as it is not displayed anywhere for this Harishekaran said it is very good question and the over speeding doesn’t arise in the CBD area for your information generally the day time because the speed of the vehicle is very very slow down in the CBD area because of the vehicle population density. All the ring roads and also all the peripheral roads which approach to the bengaluru city there are six peripheral roads approaching here and international airport roads in international airport road you can see we have displayed at 100 places that 80 Kmph is the speed limit and one more information as per the analysis says Bengaluru city speed has reduced from 40 KM to 9 KMS because of the density of the vehicle population this particular we will collect the 1000 rupees fine from there is a possibility are there all the ring roads peripheral roads and international roads.there is no point in collecting 1000 from any rider in CBD area because of the density of the vehicles population and there are 44,000 junctions out of 44,000 junctions 358 are signalised junctions another 400 are manually operated managing junctions remaining all junctions are not in a position to do that the junctions are classified into three categories as,Aertial road junctions,Sub-aertial road junctions and third one is Colleteral road junctions.Traffic leads is based on a security aspects therefore the highest dignitaries of our Indian states like Prime Minister,President of India,Vice-president,Governor,Chief Minister, like that all top level dignitaries we are giving zero traffic.what about the Deputy CM because today he was on Dinnur road and the traffic was stopped for 20 minutes that is there that is there in the clearance we have for the Deputy CM also yes it is.After 1 week it will come into action. We have 600 gadgets as PDA which is getting upgraded he added.
Meanwhile Recently,15 th Finance Commission Committee headed by Shri NK.Singh, Chairman along with the other members visited Traffic Management Centre.Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City Alok Kumar, welcomed the Committee, Mrs.Neelamani N.Raju,DG&IGP, Karnataka State made the key note addressed by,P.Harishekaran, Addl CP, Traffic, Bengaluru City gave a Power Point Presentation on BTP & TMC.In the team Mrs.Ekroop Kaur, IAS,Mr. I.S.N.Prasad, IAS were present.DCP Traffic East Dr. K.V. Jagadish, IPS,Mrs.Sarah Fathima, DCP Traffic North and Dr.SK Soumyalatha,DCP, Traffic West were also present. The commission raised a issue on traffic violations by two wheelers based on which commissioner of police Alok Kumar with Addl CP Traffic,P.Harishekaran has instructed the officers to conduct special drivers and create awareness in people to follow traffic rules and wear helmet and follow traffic rules and regulations by conducting a meeting, issuing new revised fines copy to auto drivers and educate them to follow traffic rules and save lives it said.

Zaira Wasim announced she’s quit Bollywood saying the workings of the industry “damaged my peace, imaanand my relationship with Allah.”

Zaira Wasim Quits Bollywood; Raveena Tandon Wishes 'Ungrateful Two-Film-Olds' Would 'Exit Gracefully'

Dangal actress Zaira Wasim’s announcement that she’s quitting films because of religious reasons has severely polarised opinion. Many responses have applauded her decision, others say her choice must be respected, and still others have criticised her as being regressive – actress Raveena Tandon is among the latter. “Doesn’t matter if two-film olds are ungrateful to the industry that have given them all. Just wish they’d exit gracefully and keep their regressive views to themselves.” In a separate tweet responding to one from AltNews founder Pratik Sinha, Ms Tandon wrote: “Exit is your choice, reason, by all means. Just do not demean it for everyone else.” Raveena Tandon also described the film industry as “one where all work shoulder to shoulder, no difference in caste and religion.”

We need more Zairas to break away from the clutches of religion and become successful individuals, and not the other way round.9545:09 AM – Jul 1, 2019Twitter Ads info and privacy210 people are talking about this

Zaira Wasim, 18, announced on social media over the weekend that “I am not truly happy with this identity i.e my line of work” and described the workings of Bollywood as an “environment that damaged my peace, imaan and my relationship with Allah.” Ms Wasim made her debut in Aamir Khan’s 2016 film Dangal, for which she won the National Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her second film, Secret Superstar – also an Aamir Khan production and featuring him in a supporting role – won Ms Wasim the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress. Zaira Wasim has a third film in production, The Sky Is Pink, co-starring Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar.

With two critically-acclaimed films behind her and a third on its way, Zaira Wasim was considered one of Bollywood’s best young talents. So her post on Saturday came as a surprise to many; in it, she explained that she was unprepared for the trappings of fame and ‘public attention’ and that she had ‘never set out to do or become’ a ‘role model for the youth.’

In her post, Zaira Wasim explained she realised “that though I may fit here perfectly, I do not belong here.” Acknowledging that she received “a lot of love, support, and applause,” Ms Wasim also said that her choice of profession clashed with her faith: “What it also did was to lead me to a path of ignorance, as I silently and unconsciously transitioned out of imaan (faith). While I continued to work in an environment that consistently interfered with my imaan, my relationship with my religion was threatened. I discovered my lack of knowledge of the basic fundamentals of my religion and how my inability to reinforce a change earlier was a result of confusing my heart’s contentment and wellbeing with strengthening and satisfying my own (shallow and worldly) desires.”

In many responses to her post, Zaira Wasim has been reminded that the film industry is one in which the three biggest and most powerful stars are Muslim – Aamir, Salman and Shah Rukh Khan. Many point out that some of Bollywood’s most beloved female stars have been Muslim – Waheeda Rahman, Meena Kumari, Madhubala, Nargis, Shabana Azmi, Parveen Babi, Zeenat Aman and many more. Other tweets, like Kashmir politician Omar Abdullah, simply wish Ms Wasim well.

Who are any of us to question @ZairaWasimmm’s choices? It’s her life to do with as she pleases. All I will do is wish her well & hope that what ever she does makes her happy.5,69512:26 PM – Jun 30, 2019Twitter Ads info and privacy1,750 people are talking about thisCOMMENT

Some reactions on Twitter remind everyone that Zaira Wasim is very young and has previously spoken about battling depression. Last year, Ms Wasim revealed that she had been diagnosed with severe anxiety and depression and that she dealt with suicidal thoughts, self-loathing and nervous breakdowns. In 2017, Zaira Wasim posted and then deleted a Facebook apology after being brutally trolled for meeting then Jammu And Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. Nollywood rallied to Ms Wasim’s side; her Dangal and Secret Superstar co-star Aamir Khan posted a statement of support. World Cup 2019: England Beat India By 31 Runs To Keep Semis Hopes Alive

July 1, 2019 by Nasheman

Jonny Bairstow’s 111 and Liam Plunkett’s 3/55 helped England end India’s unbeaten run in World Cup 2019.

England defeated India by 31 runs at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Sunday in the league fixture of the ongoing World Cup 2019. Rohit Sharma top scored for India with a fighting knock of 102 but it was not enough as India suffered their first loss in World Cup 2019. Chasing a huge total of 338, India lost the wicket of KL Rahul for a duck in the third over. Virat Kohli did try and steady the innings with Rohit, but once Kohli fell for 66, it was always going to be difficult for India. With this win, England keep their hopes alive of reaching the semi-finals. Liam Plunkett was the pick of the bowlers for England, he finished with figures of 3/55 in 10 overs.

Hardik Pandya and MS Dhoni tried to score quickly but England bowlers were up to the task. Pandya lost his wicket for 45 while Dhoni remained unbeaten on 42.

For India, their spinners failed to restrict the boundaries and allowed England batsmen to score freely in the middle overs. Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, both went the distance. The spin-twins went for 160 runs and it was Kuldeep who managed to pick up a wicket.

England, who came into this match on the back of successive defeats by Sri Lanka and Australia, will be assured of a place in the last four if they beat New Zealand in their last group match on Wednesday.

India can reach the knockout phase by beating Bangladesh when they return to Edgbaston on Tuesday.

England’s bid to win a first World Cup title is based on aggressive top-order batting but the runs had dried up lately.

That made their 337-7 after captain Eoin Morgan won the toss on a good pitch in Birmingham all the more heartening.

Bairstow top-scored with 111 and all-rounder Ben Stokes added a brisk 79, with India paceman Mohammed Shami taking a career-best 5-69.

No side have made more batting second to win a World Cup match than Ireland’s 329-7 against England at Bangalore in 2011.

Title contenders India weren’t up to the task as their chase petered out on 306-5.

India were a long way off from the moment opener KL Rahul was caught and bowled for a duck by Warwickshire paceman Woakes, who reeled off an impressive three straight maidens with the new ball on his home ground.

Rohit Sharma, Rahul’s opening partner, should have fallen for four but Joe Root dropped a routine second-slip catch off fast bowler Jofra Archer.

It threatened to be a costly miss with Rohit Sharma going on to 102, his third century of the tournament, in front of an overwhelmingly India-supporting capacity crowd of more than 24,000.

Rohit Sharma also shared a second-wicket stand of 138 with India captain Virat Kohli, whose 66 was the star batsman’s fifth successive fifty of this World Cup.

But Kohli fell when he sliced Liam Plunkett to backward point.

Rohit Sharma went to three figures, after scores of 122 not out against South Africa and 140 against Pakistan, in 106 balls with 15 fours.

But the pressure of the chase told when he was caught behind off a Woakes off-cutter to leave India 198-3 in the 37th over.

Rishabh Pant made 32 at better than a run-a-ball and it looked as if he had hit the first six of the innings only for Woakes, running round from deep backward square, to hold a brilliant diving catch.

India needed 104 more runs off the last 10 overs but their hopes faded when the big-hitting Hardik Pandya (45) holed out to substitute James Vince off fast bowler Plunkett, who justified his recall in place of off-spinner Moeen Ali with 3-55.

Earlier, Bairstow and Jason Roy (66), returning after missing three matches with a torn hamstring, shared a first-wicket stand of 160 — the highest opening partnership of the tournament.

Bairstow, involved in a pre-match spat with former England captain Michael Vaughan after suggesting pundits wanted England to lose, twice saw big inside edges miss the stumps.

Roy could have been out on 21 when all-rounder Pandya appealed for a caught behind down the legside.

But umpire Aleem Dar signalled a wide instead and Kohli opted against a review, although replays suggested the ball had touched Roy’s glove.

Roy reached fifty in just 41 balls before, on 66, he was well caught by substitute Ravindra Jadeja at long-on.

A single off Pandya saw Bairstow to a 90 ball-hundred, including eight fours and six sixes, before he carved Shami to deep cover.

Mumbai in top 20 most expensive cities in Asia for expatriates

NEW DELHI: Mumbai is India’s most expensive city and among the top 20 costliest cities surveyed in Asia for expatriates, as residential housing prices remain among the highest in the world, a survey by global consulting leader Mercer says.

According to Mercer’s, Mumbai fell 12 spots and was ranked at the 67th position out of 209 cities sur25th Annual Cost of Living Surveyveyed.

Regarding Mumbai the report said, “costs of items such as eating out and utilities show decline, however, residential housing costs remain among the most expensive in the world, contributing to its top rankings in Asia and globally”. The other Indian cities in the list include New Delhi at 118th place, Chennai (154), Bengaluru (179) and Kolkata (189).

All the four cities have moved down from last year. “A relatively slower price increase in surveyed Indian cities and major currencies weakening against the US dollar has pushed our Indian cities down in the ranking,” said Padma Ramanathan, India Global Mobility Practice Leader at Mercer.

The survey noted that eight out of the top ten of the world’s most expensive cities for expatriates are Asian cities, resulting from high costs for expatriate consumer goods and a dynamic housing market. The costliest city in the world for the second consecutive year is Hong Kong followed by Tokyo, Singapore and Seoul.

Other cities appearing in the top ten list are Zurich (5), Shanghai (6), Ashgabat (7), Beijing (8), New York City (9), and Shenzhen (10). The world’s least expensive cities for expatriates are Tunis (209), Tashkent (208), and Karachi (207).

The survey further noted that across continents, Indian multinationals have been driving key talent mobilisation into countries like the USA (especially in the hi-tech sector), UAE, UK, Kenya and Bangladesh.

According to the survey, a number of factors – like currency fluctuations, cost of inflation for goods and services and volatility in accommodation prices – contribute to the overall cost of expatriate packages for employees on international assignments.

The figures for Mercer’s cost of living and rental accommodation cost comparisons are derived from a survey conducted in March 2019. Exchange rates from that time and Mercer’s international basket of goods and services from its cost of living survey have been used as base measurements.

BENGALURU/NEW DELHI: The ED on Friday attached assets worth Rs 209 crore in its money laundering probe into a ponzi scam involving Karnataka’s IMA group, in which thousands of depositors have allegedly been duped.

The central agency said its Bengaluru zonal office has issued a provisional order, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, for attachment of immovable assets worth Rs 197 crore and about Rs 12 crore deposits kept in bank accounts.

The total amount of the attachment is about Rs 209 crore, it said. The agency recently filed a criminal case of money laundering against the IMA group of companies and its absconding main promoter and Managing Director Mohammed Mansoor Khan after reports emerged that he has gone underground fearing investments worth crores of about 40,000 investors have tanked.

Khan, it said, had promised returns ranging from 2.5 to 3 per cent month to the investors, who are mainly from the Muslim community. The scam had come to light after a video of his purported statement claiming that the investments have been lost surfaced.

The ED had summoned Khan multiple times but he did not depose before the agency and it is suspected that he has left the country. The agency is working towards getting an Interpol arrest warrant issued against him and get him declared a fugitive economic offender by a court.

The Karnataka government has constituted a special investigation team (SIT) of the police to probe the case.

Tourism ministry to promote different cuisines of Karnataka

June 29, 2019 by Nasheman

On Friday, Shreevats Sanjay, Deputy Director General and Regional Director-South, from the Ministry of Tourism said that as many people visit Bengaluru for business, it was an ideal MICE destination.

BENGALURU:  Karnataka, which has in the past been promoted as wildlife and a heritage destination, will now reach out to prospective tourists, pushing several destinations across the state through their cuisines. Additionally, Bengaluru, the state capital and a major hub for the IT and BT industry in the country, will also be promoted as a MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) destination by the Tourism Ministry.

On Friday, Shreevats Sanjay, Deputy Director General and Regional Director-South, from the Ministry of Tourism said that as many people visit Bengaluru for business, it was an ideal MICE destination.
“There is however a need to set up convention facilities across the state so that other cities are equally promoted,” he said.

Speaking to The New Indian Express, on the sidelines of the three day long Asia Skal Congress 2019, Sanjay said, “Similarly food is something that is closest to people’s hearts. Just like other parts of India, Karnataka also has many cuisines to offer which also need to be popularised to attract tourists.”

He said that while the heritage and spirituality of Karnataka is popular, there is need for more promotion. The state is gaining popularity for wellness tourism. “The ministry is working closely with the state tourism department to promote Karwar as an ideal family destination. Since Goa is over full and not suitable as a family destination, Karwar is ideal,” Sanjay added.

At the inaugural, Mahesh said that the state would explore opportunities to put Karnataka tourism on the international map. He said that festivals of the state as well as Hyderabad- Karnataka region as ideal tourism destinations will be showcased to international guests, apart from the pristine Western Ghats and virgin beaches.

The conference was inaugurated by tourism and seri-culture minister Sa Ra Mahesh, Skal International President Lavonne Wittmann and Skal- Bengaluru President Manoj Mathew were present. Around 250 delegates from 10 countries came together to promote friendship and fellowship through tourism. Skal conference is being held in Bengaluru after 35 years.
