Four wheelie wonkers arrested by KR Puram Traffic cops two modified bikes Seized

The KR Puram traffic police of East Division traffic cops caught four youths including a minor for performing bike stunts on the Bhattarahalli junction on Hoskote road on Wednesday morning.

The accused identified as Yaseen,18,Mubaraka, 20,Umar,18 and a minor, working as mechanics and vegetable vendors were booked under various sections of the indian motor vehicle act.

Senior officer said,Somappa K,Traffic police constable attached to KR puram station who was near Bhattarahalli junction noticed two scooters with modified silencers rode by four youth without helmet in rash and negligent manner creating a fear among the fellow motorists.

He immediately alerted the control room and passed the information to Inspector Mohammed MA who immediately rushed to the spot with his team and followed the accused wheelie wonkers  and caught them.

It was found that the accused have modified the silencer to create shrill sound and removed the number plates to conceal the identity of them.

But our Inspector and his team swiftly secured all the four youths and seized their modified silencer bikes.

The police are now analyzing the engine and chassis number to identify the owners so that they could also been booked for the negligence in handing the bike to minor and performing stunts a case under various sections of Indian motor vehicle Act and further investigation is on.

Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Joint CP Traffic,Dr BR Ravikanthe Gowda,DCP Traffic East Shantharaju KM,ACP,Traffic East,MC Kavitha,PI,Mohammad MA and his alert staff as,Somappa for the commendable job done by them in nabbing the wheelie wonkers a suitable reward will be given to the team he added.

Honey trap gang busted Duo from Rajasthan arrested

The Whitefield division police of KR Puram police on Thursday arrested two persons from Rajasthan who created a fake FB account in the name of a girl and trapped a 26-year-old MBA graduate to record his private videos and blackmailed him.

The accused have been identified as Robin Bharath,22 and his associate Jaed Rahman,25 both residents of Rasulpura of Bharatpur in Rajasthan.

Senior officer told media persons,a IAS aspirant ended his life in his house.As he was Unable to fulfill their demands,the victim ended his life on March 23.

As soon as the incident was reported senior officer with others as dog squad with finger print experts rushed to the spot after inspecting the spot the DCP Whitefield D Devaraj who collected information from the sister of deceased that his brother was blackmailed by some Neha Sharma on the Facebook and lured him as he was unable to fulfill their demands he ended his life.

Based on the complaint,special team were formed and pressed into action to track down the accused the team with the help of cyber experts and with the help of local police the team tracked both the accused.

A special team headed by Ranjith PSI from KR Puram and 2 staff were sent to Rajasthan as with the technical inputs our team tracked them to Rajasthan with the help of additional force of 25 Police personnel as 4 PSIs with 22 staff of Bhartpur police station helped our team in tracking the duo in their home town.

In a joint operation the team visited the place where they were hiding a police team rounded up the area as precautionary measures.

The police team secured both of them from their house and after producing to local court on transit remand brought them to Bengaluru for further questioning.

During the course of investigation the accused confessed the crime and revealed that to make easy money the accused opened a fake Facebook account posing as Neha Sharma and sent a friend request to victim who accepted the request and befriended them.

After a couple of chats using the app which changes the voice,the accused lured him and showed a recorded private video forcing him to disrobe and engage in private conversations.

As soon as the victim complied the accused recorded the video and started blackmailing him.

Victim borrowed money from his friends to pay Rs 36,600 transfer to the accused account online in return for the video which they had and blackmailed .

However the accused refused to give and demanded more money and threatened to send the video to his family and friends,unable to pay victim ended his life at his house .

The KR Puram police have taken the accused into their custody to probe their criminal background.

CCB arrest 4 Notorious drug peddlers,including two from Nigeria,seized synthetic Drugs worth Rs.20 Lakhs

The Anti-Narcotics wing of CCB sleuths on Tuesday arrested four persons including two Nigerian nationals red handed and recovered ecstasy pills and MDMA powder worth Rs 20 lakh from them.

The accused has been identified as,Ajah Francis, 34 and Charles Chima,29 from Nigeria and their associates Malang Pasha,30 from Bengaluru and Jasir Thancheri Kanday, 33 from Kerala .

Senior officer told,our Anti-Narcotics Wing CCB ACP Gautham kumar received a tip off that four persons are indulged in supplying drugs and are waiting for their clients near Montessori school in Bagalur area.

Acting on a tip off a team headed by ACP Gautham kumar and team swung into action and rushed to the spot the team first surrounded the area and were watching their movements the team when got suspicion on them rounded up all the four and raided the place near Montessori school in Bagalur while trying to sell the synthetic Drugs.

The team secured all the four and during interrogation the accused confessed the crime and revealed that they used to procure drugs from their friends and used to sell this synthetic Drugs to college students and professionals and after thorough investigation the team seized Rs.20 lakhs from their possession.

The team recovered,200 Ecstasy pills,153 grams MDMA powder,with five mobile phones,two bikes and lethal weapons from the accused.

The police have booked the accused under NDPS Act and further investigating is on to find out the source of the drugs.

UAE played role in bringing down tension between India and Pakistan, says senior Emirate diplomat

DUBAI: The United Arab Emirates played a role in bringing down the tension between India and Pakistan and getting their bilateral ties back to a “healthy functional relationship”, Emirati ambassador to the US Yousef al-Otaiba has said.

“They might not sort of become best friends but at least we want to get it to a level where it’s functional, where it’s operational, where they are speaking to each other,” al-Otaiba said during a virtual discussion with Stanford University’s Hoover Institution on Wednesday.

India and Pakistan in a surprise announcement said on February 25 that they have agreed to strictly observe all agreements on ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir and other sectors.

Al-Otaiba himself brought up the issue while responding to a question, acknowledging his country’s role in “bringing Kashmir escalation down” between the two neighbours.

“We try to be helpful where we have influence with two different countries. So, India and Pakistan was the most recent one…,” he said.

“We don’t think they are going to become the most favoured nation to each other, but I think it’s important for them to have a healthy functional relationship,” he added.

In New Delhi, asked about media reports that backchannel talks between India and Pakistan were going on for more than a year, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi did not give a direct reply.

“If you talk about channels of communication on this issue, let me just recall that our respective high commissions exist and are functioning. So that is a very effective channel of communication,” Bagchi said on April 9.

India has told Pakistan that it desires normal neighbourly relations with Islamabad in an environment free of terror, hostility and violence.

India has said the onus is on Pakistan to create an environment free of terror and hostility.

On the same day, Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman stopped short of categorically denying its involvement in some kind of backchannel talks with India.

Foreign Office spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry at the weekly press briefing on April 9 was asked by several journalists about reported backchannel talks with India.

Instead of rejecting it outrightly he said: “States have their ways and means to communicate which remain available even during wars.

Therefore, whether any talks are taking place between India and Pakistan is not important.”

He added that the real issue was what should be discussed between the two countries and how the dialogue could be made meaningful and result-oriented dialogue.

Ties between India and Pakistan nose-dived after a terror attack on the Pathankot Air Force base in 2016 by terror groups based in the neighbouring country.

Subsequent attacks, including one on Indian Army camp in Uri, further deteriorated the relationship.

The relationship dipped further after India’s war planes pounded a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist training camp deep inside Pakistan on February 26, 2019 in response to the Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed.

The relations deteriorated after India announced withdrawing special powers of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcation of the state into two union territories in August, 2019.

Last month, Pakistan’s powerful Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that it was time for India and Pakistan to “bury the past and move forward” as he asserted that the peace between the two neighbours would help to “unlock” the potential of South and Central Asia.

The powerful army, which has ruled Pakistan for more than half of its 70 plus years of existence, has hitherto wielded considerable power in the matters of security and foreign policy.

Gen Bajwa’s remarks came a day after Prime Minister Imran Khan made a similar statement.

Uddhav Thackeray seeks nod to procure oxygen from other states

MUMBAI/BHOPAL: With a large number of Covid patients in the state requiring oxygen support, Maharashtra is looking at the possibility of demand for medical oxygen exceeding supply by the end of this month. 

At present the production is 1,200 metric tonne (MT) per day while it is estimated that the demand by the end of April could go up to 2,000 MT. In a letter to the PM, Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray has sought the Centre’s permission to airlift medical oxygen from other states.

At present, the state is diverting its entire production for medical purposes, temporarily cutting off supply to industries. “In many places, private hospitals are declining to admit new patients due to non-availability of oxygen,” said an official.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh is also grappling with the shortage of medical oxygen. It is learnt that several hospitals in Indore, Bhopal, Sagar, Khargone and Jabalpur districts are unable to provide oxygen support.
At present, the state is getting local supply of around 267 MT but the daily requirement has touched 400 MT. On Thursday evening, it  said the Centre assured of providing 450 MT.

Down with fever, BSY leaves Belagavi bypoll roadshow midway

BELAGAVI, BENGALURU : On the last day of campaigning for the Belagavi Lok Sabha bypoll on Thursday, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, who was holding a road show for BJP candidate Mangala Angadi in Belagavi, had to quit midway as he developed uneasiness and fever.The road show was planned from Shivaji Garden in Belagavi South Assembly constituency through prominent roads and to end at Mahatma Phule Road. However, Yediyurappa started feeling exhausted and left for the hotel after the road show had barely covered half way.

Sources in the CMO said Yediyurappa had mild fever two days ago and had undergone a Covid test before hitting the campaign trail. The test report had returned negative. After being checked by doctors and resting for some time in Belagavi, the CM left for Bengaluru by a regular 7.30 pm flight.  

Earlier , the Chief Minister consumed homemade lunch brought to the hotel from the residence of late Suresh Angadi. BJP leaders pointed out that despite not keeping well, the CM had participated in campaigning at Mudalagi and Gokak. He had even visited mutts of the Lingayat community in Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency on Thursday morning and then participated in the road show in the scorching summer heat. After the CM left the hotel, the campaign rally continued in Shahapur and other areas, led by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, state Industries Minister Jagadish Shettar and MLA Abhay Patil.

The CMO sources said the CM will rest for two days on Friday and Saturday, and will chair an all-party meeting in Bengaluru on Sunday evening to discuss the government’s strategy to fight the pandemic and seek views from the Opposition leaders. Yediyurappa had tested positive for Covid-19 and was hospitalised for a week last year.

Congress MLA Akhanda Murthy demolishes house burnt in DJ Halli riots, begins construction

BENGALURU: 9 months after his house in Kavalbyrasandra was torched by a mob of over 2,000 rioters, Congress MLA of Pulakeshinagar Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy has started construction of a new house at the same site.Murthy told TNIE that he had his semi-burnt house demolished and started constructing a new house. “My family and I have suffered a lot in the last nine months. We have been living with relatives after my house was burnt down,” he said.

The MLA rued the fact that he got no support from KPCC President DK Shivakumar, despite several appeals and personal meetings with him. “The KPCC President has been supporting former mayor and corporator Sampath Raj, who was arrested last year for his involvement in the case. I have, however, received consistent moral support from former chief minister Siddaramaiah,” Murthy said. He said he will shortly seek an appointment with the Congress high command to draw attention to the injustice done to him by Shivakumar. 

Raj, who was DJ Halli ward corporator when the riots broke out on August 11, was arrested for allegedly playing a key role in instigating others to set fire to Murthy’s residence. The High Court-appointed HS Kempanna Committee had inspected his house two months ago, he said. Justice Kempanna, a retired High Court judge, was appointed last August as Claims Commissioner to assess the damage caused to public and private properties during the DJ Halli and KG Halli riots in which the MLA’s house was burnt down.

The Central Crime Branch had arrested more than 400 people in the arson which had damaged DJ Halli and KG Halli police stations, and public and private properties, after Murthy’s nephew P Naveen had allegedly posted a sacrilegious post on social media. Three people had lost their lives in police firing. The CCB had filed a preliminary chargesheet, naming Raj and Congress corporator A R Zakir. The National Investigation Agency, investigating the violence, had in its chargesheet submitted in February, stated that riot was pre-meditated.

After surge in COVID cases, Bihar may order weekend lockdown, curfew soon

PATNA: An massive surge in COVID-19 cases taking the count to over 2.95 lakh on Thursday has evidently alarmed the state of Bihar.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday said that the Covid positives is also being reported from rural areas apart from urban pockets and the state is badly falling in the second wave in India.

Speaking to the media after taking the second jab at IGIMS on Thursday, Kumar said that the state government is keeping strict vigil on the emerging trends of the pandemic and would go to any extent to check it after the all party meet on April 17 chaired by the governor.

“Our officers and the minister also are speaking to everyone within and outside the state and ensuring immediate returning of all those who want to return to Bihar from other states,” he said, replying to a specific query regarding imposition of either curfew or lockdown in the state ahead.

He stated that the COVID-19 has started spreading in some rural pockets apart from urban, which has made the state government to enforce the safety guidelines across the state.

“We have now ramped up the testing count to nearly 1 lakh daily and hoping to exceed it soon. We will act strongly if the situation continues persisting worsening,” he hinted about the state’s move to be taken ahead.

Meanwhile, reliable sources said that the state government may place five to six cities including Patna under curfew or a week long lockdown after April 17.

The cities apart from Patna ikely to be placed under curfew or lockdown are Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Bhagalpur, West Champaran, Saran, Begusarai and Munger.

On Thursday, Bihar reported the highest single day spike in positive cases – 6,133 – the highest of second wave.

In Bihar, everyday 7 to 10 patients die in Patna besides deaths reported from other parts.

As many as 24 COVID patients died in the last 24 hours in the state till Thursday evening, drastically reducing the recovery rate to 89.79% from over 97%.

The shortage of oxygen cylinders in the hospitals is also impending to such an extent that the DM Patna had to depute magistrates to monitor the supply.

The Patna DM ordered the agencies to supply 90 per cent of total production of oxygen cylinders to Patna through the state industry department.

30 sadhus in Haridwar test positive for COVID-19 In Kumbh Mela

HARIDWAR: Amidst the ongoing Kumbh in Haridwar, 30 sadhus in the city have tested positive for COVID-19, said the Chief Medical Officer on Friday.

Haridwar Chief Medical Officer Dr SK Jha said, “30 Sadhus have tested positive for COVID-19 so far, in Haridwar. Medical teams are going to akhadas and RT-PCR tests of sadhus are being done continuously. The process will be further quickened from April 17.”

The CMO told that among the COVID positive people who are from Haridwar have been sent for home quarantine while those who came from outside are being admitted to hospitals.

Dr Jha also informed that the COVID patients who are in serious condition are being referred to AIIMS Rishikesh. However, he also clarified that there is no panic-like situation in Hospitals in Haridwar.

Meanwhile, Maha Nirvani Akhara head Kapil Dev, who had come to attend the Kumbh in Haridwar from Chitrakoot, Madhya Pradesh, died in a Dehradun hospital on Wednesday while undergoing treatment after testing positive for COVID-19.

Over the last five days, a total of 2167 people were found positive for coronavirus in Haridwar — the place where the month-long Kumbh is going on.

According to the Uttarakhand State Control Room, there were 254 COVID-19 positive cases on April 10, 386 on April 11, 408 on April 12, 594 on April 13 and 525 on April 14.

Meanwhile, officials have said that despite a record surge in COVID-19 cases in the country, the Kumbh will continue till April 30.

COVID-19 Update India Highest-ever single day spike in India with 2,17,353 fresh cases; 1185 deaths reported

NEW DELHI: India added a record 2,17,353 new coronavirus infections in a day taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 1,42,91,917, while active cases surpassed the 15-lakh mark, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

This is the second consecutive day that the country has reported over two lakh cases.

The death toll increased to 1,74,308 with 1,185 new fatalities, the highest since September 19, 2020, the data updated at 8 am showed.

Registering a steady increase for the 37th day in a row, the active cases have increased to 15,69,743, comprising 10.98 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate dropped to 87.80 per cent.

The active caseload was at its lowest at 1,35,926 on February 12 and it was at its highest at 10,17,754 on September 18, 2020.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,25,47,866, while the case fatality rate has further dropped to 1.22 per cent, the data stated.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16.

It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.

According to the ICMR, 26,34,76,625 samples have been tested up to April 15 with 14,73,210 samples being tested on Thursday.

Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 61,695.

It is followed by Uttar Pradesh with 22,339 while Delhi reported 16,699 new cases.

Maharashtra saw the maximum casualties (349) followed by Chhattisgarh with 135 daily deaths, Delhi with 112, Uttar Pradesh 104, Gujarat 81, Karnataka 66, Madhya Pradesh 53, Punjab 50, Rajasthan 33 and Tamil Nadu 29.
