In a tragic incident,a 39-year-old woman was killed came under a speeding car in front of the hospital minutes after her son who ended life and declared dead by doctors.The incident took place in Vijayanagar police station limits on Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as Leelavathi and her son Mohan Gowda,18, a first year BCom student.

His father Lokesh runs a ration shop and the family lived in MC Layout in Vijayanagar.

Senior officer told media persons,Few posts on social media said that the youth had committed suicide on Tuesday after the police had summoned him for an investigation.

The police though clarified on Wednesday that they had never called the boy to the police station.

Mohan had been to college to write exam and after returning home he fought with his friends over a bike he had reportedly taken from them.

Mohan was arguing with his friends when his father intervened and had to take the brunt of his agitated friends.

Upset over this,he went inside the house and locked himself in a room.Though his parents knocked repeatedly, he did not open the door.

The parents with the help of two policemen,who were on patrolling duty near-by rushed to the help and broke open the door to find their son hanging using a saree.

He was brought down and rushed to a hospital located on West of Chord Road,where he was declared brought dead at around 12.30 pm.

Shocked by knowing that her son had passed away, Leelavathi ran towards the road but was stopped and brought back by her family members.

While they were consoling her,Leelavathi again ran towards the road to cross and came under a speeding car.She was rushed to the same hospital where doctors declared her dead at 1 pm,the police said.

Mohan Gowda,a first year BCom student,had committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence,following which a complaint was lodged with the Vijayanagar police station by his father.

In the complaint,he had mentioned that Mohan Gowda had fallen in a bad company of boys.On Tuesday,Mohan Gowda returned to the house after exams and locked the door of his room before taking the extreme step.

The case took a twist after posts surfaced on social media alleging that Mohan Gowda had committed suicide as he was called by the police for an investigation into a bike theft case and he took the extreme step fearing the police probe.

However, DCP West, Dr Sanjeev M Patil, denied this angle and said,When Mohan Gowda had locked up his room,few boys were quarrelling with his father over a bike issue.

The father had sought the help of two policemen who were on duty in the area then.The policemen went to their house and along with the parents, they broke open the door of the room to find Mohan Gowda hanging from the ceiling.

Patil also clarified that the youth was not called for any investigation by the police and no case of bike theft is registered against him.

While the Vijayanagar police have registered an unnatural death case in connection with the death of Mohan Gowda,the Vijayanagar traffic police have registered a case regarding Leelavathi’s death and have arrested the car driver.

Three including two women arrested,New born baby selling racket busted by Wilson Garden police

The Central Division police of Wilson Garden police arrested a group of three including two women involved in newborn baby selling racket.

The accused has been identified as,Tarannum Babu,resident of Audugodi,Sawood, 51,and his relative Nishath Kousar

Senior officer told reporters,The racket came to light when PSI,Priyadarshini Bandivaddar,from Wilson Garden police station based on a tip off rushed near Agadi hospital and found a couple  fighting on the road over financial row.

On noticing the police in uniform approaching them,the man escaped and the police caught the woman later identified as Tarannum Babu,  resident of Audugodi.

Inquiry revealed that Tarannum babu has taken a 38 days baby boy born to her domestic help Shirin and sold it to her relative K Sawood from HBR Layout.

Further inquiries revealed that the baby was born to Shirin out of wedlock and the father of the boy Mubarak Pasha sold the baby to Tarannum for Rs 1.3 lakh.

Tarannum in turn sold the baby to her relative Sawood who did not have children and taken Rs. 50,000 as advance.However the money was not paid to Mubarak .

Meanwhile mother of the baby Shirin started demanding that she wanted her baby and Mubarak was frustrated that even though he sold the baby,money was not paid to him.

On Monday,he called Tarannum Babu near Agadi hospital and started fighting with her for not paying the money and demanded the child back .

Based on the confession of Tarannum,the Wilson Garden police arrested Sawood,51,and his relative Nishath Kousar who facilitated the deal .

The police rescued the baby and efforts are on to track down Mubarak Pasha who is on the run and further investigation is on.

Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant,Addl CP West,Soumendhu Mukherjee,DCP Central,MN Anucheth,ACP,Halasurgate sub-division,Smt.Nazma Farooq,has appreciated PI,Shankaracharya,PSI,Priyadarshini Bandivaddar and her team who has successfully nabbed all the trio and rescued the newly born safely and reunited to their parents and family and for the exemplary work by the PSI who acted swiftly and timely action helped in busting the racket and a suitable reward will be given to the team he added.

The North Division police of Rajajinagar police have arrested a Kannada film director who cheated the bank by pledging one kilo of gold plated ornaments to avail loan of Rs 42 lakh from a private bank in Rajajinagar on Tuesday.

The accused has been identified as Karamala Balu Ravindranath,and Shivkumar,goldsmith who assisted him in the fraud.

Senior officer told reporters,Bharat,manager of  federal bank filed a complaint in Rajajinagar police station stating that a film director have pledged 1.05 kg of gold jewellery in federal Bank and taken 42 lakhs as gold loan.

From past one year, the film director has not paid EMI on gold loan taken.When federal bank auctioning the gold it was found that the pledged gold is partially fake.

Preliminary inspection appraiser couldn’t find as it has 40 percent gold coating over other material.

During auction when pledged gold was cut,it came to light that inside it was other material.

Acting on the complaint Rajajinagar police inspector RP Ashok and his team swung into action and picked up the movie maker as film director for questioning and during questioning the team found suspicious on his statement and took him into custody for further questioning.

During interrogation in the police style the director confessed the crime and revealed that he conspired with his friend Shivakumar a Goldsmith to make fake gold.

And based on his statement the crime team arrested the gold Smith and a detailed Investigation it was revealed that the accused had directed a movie in the year 2016 and incurred huge loss.In order to recover the loss , he hatched a plan to cheat the banks and avail gold loan.

As per the plan, he roped in Shivakumar to design artificial ornaments made out of alloy and coated four layers of gold on them.

He availed gold loan from Federal bank, Rajajinagar branch last year.The bank got the gold tested from its valuer since it was multilayered gold plated ornaments,even he failed to notice and gave his consent.

The cheated came to light as accused defaulted repayment of loan and did not responded to repeated notice and reminders from the bank .

After the due date the bank decided to auction the ornaments to recover the gold and upon checking the valuables turned out to be fake.

Based on the complaint filed by Bharath, bank manager , the police arrested the duo on the charges of cheating and remanded them to judicial custody and investigation is on he added.

Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant has appreciated Addl CP West,Soumendhu Mukherjee,DCP North,Dharmendra Kumar Meena, ACP,Malleswaram sub-division,KS Venkatesh Naidu,PI, RP Ashok and his team as,Jagadeesh,Dayal Kumar,and other staff for the good piece of investigation and nabbing the duo who has cheated a bank and pledged a fake gold and for the commendable job done by the team who acted swiftly and arrested the duo a suitable reward will be given to the team he added.

In a joint operation,officials with the Benglauru Unit and Hyderabad Sub Zone of the Narcotics Control Bureau busted another inter-State alprazolam manufacturing racket,and arrested five people on Saturday.

The accused were producing the short-acting tranquiliser at a clandestine laboratory in Hyderabad,the second to be uncovered in two months.Around 3.25 kg of Alprazolam was recovered from the accused.

After receiving a tip-off,a team led by Zonal Director Amit Ghawate,we intercepted two cars near Medak on the Hyderabad national highway and apprehended four people identified as Y. Sudhakar, A.Naresh,KP. Kumar,A.Srikanth.A total of 3.25 kg of alprazolam and Rs.12,75,000 in cash was recovered from them,which is proceeds of drugs,said the NCB.

The probe revealed that Sudhakar was the supplier and manufacturer,while A Naresh was the receiver.They were apprehended during an exchange of alprazolam and cash.

Following a spot interrogation,the NCB team located a clandestine laboratory that was operating in a residential area,in the house of Y. Sudhakar at Balanagar,Hyderabad.

In this lab, raw Alprazolam at various stages of manufacturing was found along with apparatus like flasks and reactors,” Mr. Ghawate said.

Some quantity of alprazolam and a large quantity of raw material was seized from this clandestine lab as well.

The team also uncovered another manufacturing facility in an adjoining flat and a makeshift storage room just below the overhead water tank.

According to the NCB, the accused had purchased a new reactor and drier to expand their alprazolam manufacturing operations.

In a follow up operation,the fifth accused,R Pamarthi,who was operating the laboratory,was also apprehended.

He had procured a licence to manufacture genuine medical formulation in the name of M/s Kartikeya Life Sciences,but misused the facility for clandestine manufacturing of alprazolam, said the NCB.

This syndicate has been operating for more than five years.Further investigation is in progress.

Alprazolam is a psychotropic substance belonging to the benzodiazepines class,which are anti-depressants.

According to the officials, its illegal manufacture and sale is a cause of concern for law enforcement agencies.

In June this year,the bureau had busted an illegal drug manufacturing facility in Bidar.The accused were allegedly smuggling alprazolam produced in the Karnataka facility to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, where it is widely used as a cutting agent for toddy

A 16-year-old boy was killed and two others injured when a pole they were erecting to hoist the tricolor touched the live wire at the government school premises in Karikere village in Tumakuru on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Chandan, 16.He along with the two others Shashank,16  and Pawan,22 were rushed to a private hospital where Chandan succumbed.

Two two injured were being treated at the hospital and said to be out of danger.

Officials of the education department and the police visited the hospital and took stock of the situation.

The Kora Police have taken up a case and are investigating .

Senior officer said,The Kora police booked the teachers of Karikere higher primary school charging them under death due to negligence after 16-year-old Chandan died of electrocution ahead of flag hoisting program on Sunday.

Chandan resident of the same village and 16-year  old student of the school (studied upto 5th in the school) had gone to the school to participate in the flag hoisting along with his two friends .

The teachers asked Chandan and his two friends to help put up pole to hoist flag for which they readily agreed .

The trio failed to notice a high tension electric wire and pulled the pole up which accidentally touched the live wire.

Within fraction of the second the trio screamed aloud and fell on the ground the teachers busy in preparation for the flag hoisting,rushed to their help and shifted to private hospital where doctors declared Chandan as brought dead.

The other two identified as Shashank and Pawan were being treated and said to be out of danger .  Luckily there were no school children allowed in the program due to lock down guidelines.

As the news of death spreads villagers gathered in front of the school and at the hospital to vent their ire of the teachers accusing them of their negligence lead to the tragedy.

Senior police officers along with gram panchayat officials from the education department rushed to the school to take stock of the situation.

The village panchayat officials and the education department officials assured the villagers to take necessary action and also assured suitable compensation and also take care of the medical expenses of the injured .

The Kora police have summoned the teachers to the station for questioning and further investigation is on.

A group of men broke into the residential premises of Bommanahalli MLA Satish Reddy and set two cars on fire in the wee hours of Thursday, around 1.25 am.

CCTV footage shows a group of men carrying cans jumping over the gate into the premises. They poured petrol on the vehicles,and set them on fire,before fleeing the spot.

As soon as the incident was reported senior officer as,DCP,Southeast, Srinath Mahadev Joshi, ACP,Karibasavanagowda with dog squad and finger print experts rushed to the spot.

The police have yet to identify the arsonists.The case is being investigated,said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Srinath Mahadev Joshi.

Home Minister of Karnataka,Araga Jnanendra with Senior Police officers,as Commissioner of police Kamal Pant,Addl CP East,S Murugan, arrived at the spot soon after the alarm was raised.We are collaborating CCTV footage from  in and around the area to identify the accused.

Home Minister Araga Jnanendra, after visiting Mr.Reddy at his residence,said strict action would be taken against the arsonists,and announced that five special teams had been set up by commissioner of police, Kamal Pant,under the leadership of Addl CP East,S Murugan.

We have the best police teams on the job and I am confident that the case will be cracked soon, Mr.Jnanendra said the police had detained a few suspects for questioning and taken two into custody he added.

The CCTV footage shows a group of men carrying cans jumped the gate of the house poured petrol and set fire before fleeing the spot.

The Incident occurred at around 1 am .Senior officials visited the spot and conduct investigation.

Meanwhile cops found another CCTV footage where accused had purchased petrol from a near by petrol bunk.

The accused gained entey by jumping the compound from backside while security deployed at front gate.

The accused used trees and bushes to avoid getting recorded in CCTV two more luxury cars remain untouched by accused since there were CCTV cameras focussing the cars.

We have obtained some clues about accused moving on bikes and efforts are on to identify them he added.

The activists had allegedly unveiled the statue of Shiva against the Karnataka High Court order on Wednesday.

It is suspected by the police that the incident might have taken place in this backdrop.Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is constructing an island with a Shiva statue in the Begur lake.

The High Court has issued a stay on the construction in August 2019 after a petition against it was filed. The affidavit was filed by Leo Saldhana,Coordinator for Environment Support Group (ESG).

The matter of unveiling the statue has been brought to the notice of the court and the court has sought action taken report by the Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Kamal Pant by August 17.

The whole issue has taken a communal turn and Hindutva forces are alleging that the opposition is coming from Christian missionaries.

The police are treading cautiously with the issue and beefed up security near the residence of Satish Reddy and Shiva statue in Begur lake.

The Bommanahalli police have taken two suspects into custody and are investigating them in a undisclosed location to ascertain the reason behind setting two cars on fire who is the mastermind behind this act.A case has been registered in Bommanahalli police station and further investigation is on.

In a joint operation Officials of forest Mobile squad along with the city police on Sunday raided the house of a software engineer in JP Nagar and recovered a huge collection of ornamental articles made of wildlife and marine.

Based on a tip off from a team of WCCB officials, a team led by Gangadhar GA,Deputy Conservator of Forest,(forest mobile squad,Bengaluru) raided the house of Pawan Kumar, 34, situated in KSRTC layout in JP Nagar and seized the articles.

The accused has been identified as,Pawan Kumar is a software engineer working for a reputed IT,(IBM)company in the city.

During the raid we have seized ornamental articles in the form of trophies includes,deer skin, deer horns,tiger nails,necklaces,rosaries,walking sticks,bangles,rings,bracelets,eads,coombs, carrom strikers,beads and dice made out of elephant tusks,various types of conches, porcupine quills,walking stick made of camel bone,tortoise shells,kangaroo pelt,corals,sea horse and shark teeths found during the raid.

During investigation Pawan Kumar told the officials that it is his hobby to collect the rare artifacts and had purchased many of them online shopping and some from other countries .

He also claimed that some of the artifacts and trophies he got were from his grandfather Chikkaraja,who worked with the Mysore Royal family,while others he purchased during his visit to UK,US and Australia.

Even though the accused claimed that he had bills for the purchase bills,the officials said that he had not declared and hence culpable under wildlife act.

The accused has been booked under various sections of the wildlife act and remanded to judicial custody .

The raid was carried out based on the inputs provided by WCCB officials who carried out similar operations in Kerala earlier.

The accused had formed a whatsapp group from the other accused who had similar wildlife article collections and are communicating for trade and purchase said senior official.
