September 25, 2021 by Nasheman

Nasheman News

·        The company’s Shyam Flexi Strong TMT Rebar will now be available to house builders of central, western, and southern India as well

·        The company plans to appoint a team of around 500 distributors, dealers, and retailers across each of these states

Mumbai: Shyam Steel is a well-known player in the retail markets of eastern, north-eastern, and northern markets of the country and has been a major supplier of TMT bars to mega infrastructure projects. The company has established a strong network of over 6000 distributors, dealers, and retailers in the markets it currently operates in, and will now market its brand across central, western, and southern India.

The company will be establishing its presence across every corner of these sates. It has developed a highly efficient network of third-party logistics service providers to take its products to every corner of the country smoothly and punctually. The company plans to appoint a team of around 500 distributors, dealers, and retailers across each of these sates to ensure easy accessibility of its brand to home builders at reasonable prices.

Shyam Steel has played a key role in transforming steel selling from a commodity model to a brand marketing model. Its TMT brand enjoys a very high recall among consumers.

Its branding strategy has converted the cyclical commodity, TMT, to a product with year-round demand. This has helped the company to remarkably improve its sales volumes.

Commenting on the market expansion plan of the company, Mr. Suket Beriwal, Director, Shyam Steel said “We are excited about our entry into the central, western and southern states of the country. Individual home builders very often either do not have access to high quality TMT or pay a very high premium for it. With our entry into these markets, consumers will have the very high quality of a national TMT brand within their budgets. With more than six decades of experience and goodwill, we are confident of a very positive response from the home builders of these states.”

The success of the brand lies in the property of its FlexiStrong TMT rebar, which is not just strong but a perfect balance of strength and flexibility. The company’s products are endorsed by Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma – two superlative personalities in their chosen fields. Their relationship reflects the perfect balance of strength and flexibility that is the property of their TMT.

About the company:

Shyam Steel Industries Limited is a steel company headquartered in Kolkata. Beginning in 1953, today it has multiple plants including one of eastern India’s first privately owned Integrated Steel Plants at Durgapur of West Bengal. In 2020-21 the company had a turnover of 3000 plus crores. Strengthened by more than six decades of experience, with pure steel coming out of its integrated plant, having hundreds of mega projects in its portfolio, and a product that is a perfect balance of strength and flexibility, Shyam Steel is poised to establish itself firmly in the TMT retail segment in every part of India.

Hate speech case: Delhi High Court grants bail to organiser of Jantar Mantar event

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday granted bail to Preet Singh, one of organisers of an event at Jantar Mantar where communal slogans were allegedly raised last month.

The petition is allowed. The petitioner has been granted bail, said Justice Mukta Gupta.

Singh, who was remanded to judicial custody on August 10 after his arrest, is accused of creating enmity between different groups and inciting the youth to propagate against a particular religion at a rally at Jantar Mantar here on August 8.

In his plea filed through advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, Singh claimed that he was not involved in giving any inflammatory speech or raising any slogan against any person or community .

He asserted that the demand of establishing a Hindu nation did not attract Section 153A (hate speech) of the IPC and that he was not even present at the site at the time of sloganeering.

The Delhi Police had opposed Singh’s plea for his release on bail.

On August 27, Additional Sessions Judge Anil Antil had refused bail to Singh, arrested by the Delhi Police in the case, saying right to assemble and freedom to air one’s thoughts are cherished under the Constitution.

However, these are not absolute and have to be exercised with inherent reasonable restrictions.

Want justice, not compensation: Family of J-K cop killed in case of ‘mistaken identity’

September 24, 2021 by Nasheman

Jagti camp (Jammu)(PTI): The family of slain policeman Ajay Dhar, who was apparently shot dead by a colleague in a case of mistaken identity in Kupwara, accused the police department of attempting a “cover-up”, and demanded justice.

Dhar, a follower in the police department posted in Handwara, died in the early hours of Wednesday after being shot by a sentry guarding a temple who mistook him for a militant, officials said.

According to preliminary investigation, Dhar was going from the Handwara police station to sleep at the temple located in main Handwara town, they said.

“The victim was using headphones on his mobile phone. When he reached near the temple, the guard there observed suspicious movement and signalled him to stop. Dhar apparently could not hear the sentry, prompting him to open fire,” one of the officials said on Wednesday.

As Dhar’s mortal remains reached his residence at Jagti camp on the outskirts of Jammu city on Thursday, hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits gathered outside and held protests, demanding a probe into the killing.

“Please return my son alive. Who fires at the head of a person,” Dhar’s grief-stricken mother lashed out.

Speaking to reporters, the victim’s younger sister, Neha, said, “We want justice for my brother Ajay, not compensation or money. The police are telling lies. We want a high level probe by the NIA.”

She added that they don’t trust the statements of the police, and the government must order a probe by either the NIA or the CBI.

“It is a cold-blooded murder,” another family member alleged.

Lashing out at the administration and the police for their failure to safeguard Kashmiri Pandits in the valley, Ajay Dhar’s grandmother said, “We want justice and punishment to those involved in it, not compensation.”

Terming the incident a “cold-blooded murder”, the BJP accused the police of a cover-up and demanded a high-level probe.

J-K BJP vice-president Ajay Bharti said the incident will have repercussions on the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley if a probe is not ordered.

Kashmiri Pandit leader Vikas Raina also demanded a probe by CBI into the circumstance of his death.

Several KP organisations, including the APMCC, HGT, ASKPC, KPC, AIKS, KPS and the Panun Kashmir, also demanded a high-level probe.

PM Modi meets US Vice President Kamala Harris; discusses bilateral ties, Indo-Pacific

September 24, 2021 by Nasheman

Washington : Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described India and America as “natural partners” as he held the first in-person meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris at the White House during which they decided to further cement the Indo-US strategic partnership and discussed global issues of common interest, including threats to democracy, Afghanistan and the Indo-Pacific.

“India and America are natural partners. We have similar values, similar geopolitical interests,” Modi said in a joint media appearance with Harris on Thursday, the first-ever person of Indian origin to be elected as the vice-president of the United States.

Noting that India and the US are the largest and oldest democracies, Modi said the two countries share values and their coordination and cooperation is also gradually increasing.

Both the leaders appreciated that the bilateral relationship is on a sound footing, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla told reporters here while giving details of the meeting that lasted for an hour.

This is the first meeting between the two leaders. Harris had earlier spoken with Modi over the phone in June during the COVID-19 crisis in India.

“You are the source of inspiration for so many people across the world. I am completely confident that our bilateral relationship will touch new heights under President Biden and your leadership,” Modi told Harris.

Later in tweet, Modi said, “Glad to have met @VP@KamalaHarris. Her feat has inspired the entire world. We talked about multiple subjects that will further cement the India-USA friendship, which is based on shared values and cultural linkages.”

The two leaders were wearing masks as they both spoke in front of a battery of pool reporters from both India and the US.

Modi invited the 56-year-old Democratic leader and Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff to visit India.

“Both President Biden and you assumed office at a time when our planet faced very tough challenges. In a short time you have had many achievements to your credit be it COVID-19, climate change or the Quad,” Modi said.

In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said the two leaders exchanged views on recent global developments, including in Afghanistan and reaffirmed their commitment towards a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.

The two leaders discussed the COVID-19 situation in their countries, including ongoing efforts to contain the pandemic through expedited vaccination efforts, and ensuring supply of critical medicines, therapeutics and healthcare equipment, it said.

“As relates to the Indo-Pacific, the US stresses on maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific, Harris said, amidst China’s aggressive moves in the strategically vital region.

India, the US and several other world powers have been talking about the need to ensure a free, open and thriving Indo-Pacific in the backdrop of China’s rising military manoeuvring in the region.

China claims nearly all of the disputed South China Sea, though Taiwan, the Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia and Vietnam all claim parts of it. Beijing has built artificial islands and military installations in the South China Sea.

Harris said the world is more interconnected and more interdependent than ever before. And the challenges that we face today have highlighted that fact. COVID-19, climate crisis and the importance of our shared belief in the Indo-Pacific region, she said.

Both sides acknowledged the importance of collaborative action on climate change. Prime Minister spoke about India’s push for increasing renewable energy and the recently launched National Hydrogen Mission. He also emphasized the importance of lifestyle changes to promote environmental sustainability, the statement said.

Modi noted that he had the opportunity to speak to Harris after she assumed the Vice Presidency. “One of our interactions happened when India was battling a very tough wave of COVID-19 infections. I recall your kind words of solidarity that time,” Modi said.

India was confronted with the second wave of the COVID 19 pandemic. A very difficult time for India, he said. Like a family, the sense of kinship and so warmly, you extended a helping hand, the words that you chose when you spoke to me, I will always remember that, and I’d like to thank you from the bottom of my heart, the prime minister said.

“Like a true friend, you had given a message of cooperation, and were very full of sensitivity and immediately after that we found that the US government, the US corporate sector and the Indian community, all came together to help India, he said.

Modi said that the US Government, companies based in the USA and the Indian diaspora were very helpful when India was fighting a tough wave of COVID-19 infections.

Both leaders acknowledged the vibrant people-to-people linkages as the bedrock of the mutually beneficial education linkages and the flow of knowledge, innovation and talent between our two countries.

Modi said that four million people of Indian origin are acting as a bridge of friendship between the two countries.

Harris described India as a “very important partner” to the US and welcomed New Delhi’s announcement that it will soon resume vaccine export.

India stopped the export of COVID-19 vaccines after the second wave of the pandemic hit the country in April this year.

On Monday, India said that it will resume export of srplus COVID-19 vaccines in the fourth quarter of 2021 under the ”Vaccine Maitri” programme and to meet its commitment to the COVAX global pool.

On the issue of the climate crisis, she told Modi that the US working together with India can have not only a profound impact on people of nations but around the world itself.

Harris said that it is incumbent on the two nations to protect democracies in the best interests of people of the two countries.

“As democracies around the world are under threat, it is imperative that we defend democratic principles and institutions within our respective countries and around the world. And that we maintain what we must do to strengthen democracies at home and it is incumbent on our nations to of course protect democracies in the best interests of people of our countries, she said.

Their meeting comes a day ahead of the maiden bilateral meeting between Modi and President Joe Biden and the Quad Leaders’ Summit at the White House on Friday.

They also discussed areas of future collaboration, including space cooperation, Information Technology, especially emerging and critical technologies, as well as the cooperation in healthcare sector.

Shringla said, the contribution of Indian professionals, especially in the IT domain, biotechnology, space, and other areas, which represent the knowledge economy was appreciated by both. There was a sense that India had capable professionals, in the high tech sector including research and development capacities, and the US which is known for cutting edge technologies and innovation, were obvious partners, he said.

Shringla said that the Vice President has graciously accepted the invitation of the Prime Minister to visit India.

Strong commitment to further deepen bilateral relations! tweeted MEA Spokeperson Arindam Bagchi.

Leadership-level engagement continues to be an integral element of our expanding bilateral partnership with the USA! he said

Kalyana Karnataka Board to be formed in 10 days: CM Basavaraj Bommai
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday said Kalyana Karnataka Regional Development Board will be constituted in 10 days.

“The KKRDB will be constituted in the next 10 days. We will appoint a permanent secretary. Vacant posts of engineers will also be filled,” Bommai said while participating in a debate in the Assembly on the development of Kalyana Karnataka, or the erstwhile Hyderabad Karnataka region comprising seven districts adjoining Telangana.

The CM said while Rs 1,500 crore has been released this year for the development of Kalyana Karnataka region, there was an opening balance of Rs 500 crore from 2020. Hence, a total of Rs 2,000 crore will be utilised for the purpose.

Bommai also assured the MLAs that all essential posts in KKRDB will be filled.

He also said the Hyderabad Karnataka Special Cell’s office located in Bengaluru will be shifted to Kalaburagi.

Earlier, Congress MLA Priyank Kharge had alleged that Rs 100 crore from the KKRDB was transferred to the account of an NGO, ignoring transparency.

KKR steamroll Mumbai Indians to enter top four

September 24, 2021 by Nasheman

Abu Dhabi: Rookie Venkatesh Iyer left many in awe of his talent as Kolkata Knight Riders produced a clinical performance for the second successive game since IPL’s resumption to tame the mighty Mumbai Indians by seven wickets and enter the top-four in the points table here on Thursday.

Iyer (53 off 30), playing his second IPL game, displayed the wide range of his strokes alongside Rahul Tripathi (74 not out off 42) to enable KKR to chase MI’s modest total of 155 for six with as many as 29 balls to spare.

Quinton de Kock struck an entertaining 55 for MI before KKR bowlers bounced back in the last 10 overs, conceding 75 runs and taking five wickets.

Shubman Gill and Iyer gave KKR another flying start with the first two overs bowled by Trent Boult and Adam Milne going for 15 runs each.

Gill flicked Boult for a delightful six while Iyer pulled the New Zealand pace spearhead to set the tone for the rest of the innings.

While Jasprit Bumrah found Gill’s stumps in the third over, Iyer went on to play a memorable knock comprising four boundaries and three sixes.

Iyer and Tripathi shared an 88-run stand for the second wicket which completely shut the door on MI, who suffered their second loss since IPL’s resumption.

Earlier, MI skipper Rohit Sharma (33 off 30) got off the innings in scintillating fashion, caressing a Nitish Rana delivery on to the mid-off boundary. The skipper, who was in sublime touch in the Tests in England, had not played the opening game against CSK.

Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya did not start once again, raising questions about his fitness.

Rohit took the attack to mystery spinner Varun Charkravarthy with two consecutive fours in opening two deliveries of the fourth over.

De Kock was not to be left behind as he matched his skipper stroke for stroke, pulling a Lockie Ferguson delivery over the fence for the first maximum of the match.

Introduced into the attack in the sixth over, Prasidh Krishna was taken to task by de Kock, hitting the medium pacer twice over the fence to pick up 16 runs from his first over as MI cantered to 56 for no loss.

De Kock seemed unstoppable as he welcomed Andre Russell with consecutive fours. Morgan bowled out trump card Chakravarthy by the 11th over (4-0-22-0) with MI not losing a wicket against him.

Sunil Narine was also tidy giving away only 20 runs in four overs.

With de Kock going hammer and tongs, Rohit played the second fiddle and scored 33 runs off 30 balls before Narine got his man for the ninth time in T20s, holing out to Shubman Gill at the boundary.

KKR pulled things back between 10-15 overs, conceding only 26 runs and picked up two wickets.

Pollard, as he often does, came up with much needed big hits in the last five overs, including a flat batted six over mid wicket in Krishna’s 18-run over.

Ferguson bowled a brilliant last over for KKR, removing the dangerous duo of Pollard and Krunal Pandya (12) at the cost of only six runs.

MI collected 49 runs from the last five overs.

Big leader from BJP will join TMC in a few days, says West Bengal Minister Firhad Hakim

September 24, 2021 by Nasheman

Big leader from BJP will join TMC in a few days, says West Bengal Minister Firhad Hakim

Kolkata/Samserganj: The Trinamool Congress which stormed into power in West Bengal earlier this year, expects a big leader from BJP to join it in the next few days and claims that there are more waiting in the queue.

Senior Trinamool Congress leader Firhad Hakim on Thursday said a “big leader from BJP” is set to join TMC in a few days and claimed that the saffron party will disintegrate in the state.

This announcement comes on the heels of former Babool Supriyo, a former Union Minister joining the Mamata Banerjee-led party and months within BJP’s national vice president Mukul Roy coming back to the TMC-fold, complaining of being stifled in BJP.

Separately, TMC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, speaking at an election rally at Samserganj in Murshidabad on Thursday also claimed that BJP leaders, mostly MLAs, have been queuing up before the TMC office. Banerjee said “we have (till now) kept the doors closed. If the doors are opened, the BJP will surely collapse.”

Hakim, who is on the campaign trail for TMC supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the September 30 Bhabanipur by-poll, however said the party is not inducting BJP leaders indiscriminately into its fold.

Trinamool Congress is checking antecedents, track record and image of each BJP leader who has made overtures to TMC and is taking a call based on the applicant’s appeal after due deliberation, Hakim, a senior minister in Banerjee’s cabinet, said.

The state has witnessed several switch overs to TMC from BJP since elections to the state assembly in April this year swept TMC to a record win.

“The process of returning has only started,” was Hakim’s cryptic reply when asked by reporters whether there would be more cross-overs to TMC.

“Wait for a few more days. A big time BJP leader is all set to join our party … BJP will disintegrate in West Bengal,” he said, refusing to elaborate further.

Reacting to Hakim’s comments, BJP spokesperson Shamik Bhattacharya said TMC should consider whether it was acting in an ethical manner before trying to poach BJP leaders.

“Those not interested in power and position, but love BJP will not leave,” he added.

Newly appointed BJP state president Sukanta Majumder appealed to disgruntled party leaders to discuss their grievances with their seniors and assured that their issues would be addressed.

“Don’t take any decision which will weaken the fight for people’s democratic rights in Bengal,” he appealed.

Besides Babul Supriyo and Mukul Roy three BJP MLAs have also joined TMC since the announcement of election results in May this year.
