April 29, 2022 by Nasheman

Parmesh S Jain

Hours after Kerala Health Minister V Sivankutty on Sunday attacked the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over the Delhi government’s tweet on “officials from Kerala” visit to a school in the national capital to learn the ‘Delhi Model.

MLA Atishi hit back at the minister stating he should have fact-checked before making the allegation.

The Kerala government attacked the AAP-led government in Delhi after the Kalkaji MLA in a tweet on hosting “officials from Kerala” in a school in Delhi.

She stated that the dignitaries had visited a school in Kalkaji and were keen to understand and implement our education model in their state.”

It was wonderful to host officials from Kerala at one of our schools in Kalkaji. They were keen to understand.

This is @ArvindKejriwal Govt’s idea of nation building. Development through collaboration, she said in a tweet.

The Kerala government denied sending government officials to learn the ‘Delhi Model’ for education in the state and alleged officials from Delhi were instead assisted to study the ‘Kerala Model’ last month.

Kerala’s Dept of Education has not sent anyone to learn about the ‘Delhi Model’.

At the same time, all assistance was provided to officials who had visited Delhi to study the ‘Kerala Model’ last month.

We would like to know which ‘officials’ were welcomed by the AAP MLA,” State education minister Sivankutty said.

However,Shailendra Sharma,Principal Advisor to the Delhi’s Education Director clarified the press release issued by the Office of AAP MLA Atishi AAP clearly states that both the dignitaries who visited the school yesterday were Victor T.I, Regional Secy of CBSE School Management Association and Dinesh Babu,Confederation of Kerala Sahodaya Complexes, not officials of the state government.

MLA Atishi also responded to the Kerala education minister’s tweet with screenshots of the press release and said,Dear Sivankutty ji, It would have been good if you had done a fact check before tweeting on this issue.

You might want to have a look at our press release to see what we actually said!”

According to the release by the Delhi government, the “officials from Kerala” are referred to as “dignitaries” and “educationists.

Dignitaries from Kerala visit Delhi Government Schools to witness the education revolution first-hand;say didn’t expect facilities to be this good.

It cited Victor T.I Regional Secretary,CBSE School Management Association, Kerala stating seeing world class facilities in Delhi Schools was a phenomenal experience.

Impressed by Kejriwal Government’s Happiness and Mindfulness classes, educationists express the desire to implement the curriculums in Kerala,” it added.

Bommai, Opposition netas wade into Hindi row, defend Kiccha Sudeep

April 29, 2022 by Nasheman

BENGALURU: The Twitter war between actors Kiccha Sudeep and Ajay Devgn on Hindi as the national language, has taken a political turn, with leaders of all political hues defending Sudeep. While Congress and JDS leaders slammed the Bollywood actor as well as the BJP government for attempting to impose Hindi on all states, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, his cabinet ministers and the Kannada cinema fraternity came forward to defend Sudeep’s stand.

In a series of tweets, former CM HD Kumaraswamy defended Sudeep. “Ajay Devgan is not only hyper in nature but also shows his ludicrous behaviour. Devgan must realise that Kannada cinema is outgrowing Hindi film industry,” he said.

Kumaraswamy said Hindi cinema has grown because of encouragement by Kannadigas. Devgn shouldn’t forget that his first movie, ‘Phool aur Kaante’, ran for a year in Bengaluru. “An addiction for primacy is dividing the country,” he said.

This is a threat to India’s unity, says Kumaraswamy

Kumaraswamy also slammed the BJP for sowing a seed which is dividing the nation. “This is a threat to India’s unity,” he tweeted. Opposition leader Siddaramaiah said Hindi was not the national language, and never will be. “It is the duty of every Indian to respect the linguistic diversity of our country.

Each language has its own rich history for its people to be proud of. I am proud to be a Kannadiga,” he tweeted. However, Minister for Higher Education Dr C N Ashwath Narayan said the top priority in the state is for Kannada, but it is necessary to treat “Hindi as the communicative language at the national level”.

On Wednesday, actors Ajay Devgn and Sudeep had duelled in twitterspace, with Devgn saying, “Hindi was, is, and will always be our mother tongue and national language”, in reaction to Sudeep’s comment that Hindi is not the national language.

Sandalwood stands with Sudeep
Many Kannada actors, directors and others from Sandalwood have come forward to defend Sudeep. Actor-turned-politician Ramya said Hindi is not the national language. “Ajay Devgan, your ignorance is baffling and it’s great that films like KGF, Pushpa and RRR have done so well in the Hindi belt — art has no language barrier. Please enjoy our films as much as we enjoy yours,” she said.

Actor Ninasam Satish tweeted “for the past many years, your (Hindi) cinema is making money in Karnataka and just now Kannada cinema has entered there. Give respect to our language. Hindi was never our National language and we are with you Sudeep’’.

“Our members organised protests across the state over the price rise issue,” AAP Assam unit president Bhaben Choudhury said. “The protestors at Guwahati were detained by the police and are in the process of being released. But they faced harassment during the detention,” he said.

Choudhury said some of the party members sustained minor injuries when they were being forcibly taken away from the protest venue.

Police said the protestors, who were detained from near the state secretariat complex, were being released on Personal Recognisance bond.

“The procedure of law has been followed. They are being released on PR bond as is done in such cases,” an officer said.

AAP leader Rumi Ullah claimed that passersby had joined the demonstration at Guwahati and said, “Price rise is an issue that affects everyone. People are fed up with it and they spontaneously joined our protest.” She said demonstrations were also staged in Dibrugarh, Dhubri and Tinsukia, while in Golaghat, the party submitted a memorandum to the district administration over the price rise issue.

As the party expanded its footprint across the nation after storming to power in Punjab and winning an assembly seat in Goa, the Arvind Kejriwal-led party had also recently tasted its first electoral victory in this northeastern state.

Its candidates had emerged victorious in two wards in urban body polls in March, while it bagged one ward in the Guwahati Municipal Corporation election this month.

The AAP had been contesting Lok Sabha as well as Assembly elections in Assam for a few years, but hadn’t been able to make a mark yet.
