The Cyber crime police are on the lookout for a conman who posing as acting Chief Justice cheated Public Relations officer of High court and made away with Rs.90,000 transferred to his account through Amazon gift hampers .
Senior officer told reporters Based on the complaint filed by K.Muralidhar,the cyber crime police on Saturday registered a case against unknown person charging him under impersonation,cheating and also under various sections of IT Act.
Mr. Muralidhar said that the accused having a picture of acting CJ in his DP sent him a message on his official mobile number asking him to send amazon gift vouchers .
Assuming that the message is from CJ,Mr. Muralidhar purchased nine amazon gift voucher online each priced Rs.10,000 from his SBI bank account and also from his friend’s account to the number .
The fraud came to light when Mr.Muralidhar confirmed after transferring the vouchers.
The Cyber crime police are now trying to track down the accused based on the mobile number he is using as acting CJ and where the money was transferred he added.
