New Delhi: The Supreme Court Thursday has said PDP leader Abdul Nasser Madani can approach the trial court seeking to combine the trials in all the nine cases against him in connection with the 2008 Bengaluru blasts.

The apex court, while considering Madani’s plea, also asked him to file a plea in the trial court in this regard in a week. “The trial court should take a decision on it in a week,” the court said.

The Supreme Court also questioned the trial court how long would it take to complete the trial proceedings in the case.

Madani is among the 31 persons chargesheeted for the 2008 Bangalore blasts, which killed one person and injured 20 others, on charges of conspiracy and sheltering some of the key accused.

Kochi: PDP leader Abdul Nasser Madani, who has been granted permission to visit his ailing mother, reached Kochi on Monday.

Talking to reporters outside the Cochin International Airport, Madani has said the ray of justice is now in sight.

“I’ve hope in the justice. The trial procedures have now picked up pace following the Supreme Court’s directive,” he said.

Madani was arrested on Aug 17, 2010, in connection with the conspiracy in serial bomb blast case.

He was granted bail on July 11, 2014, which was extended by two weeks August 11, 2014 and the same was extended by four months on November 14 as court had given Karnataka four months time to conclude the trial.

While granting bail to Madani on July 11, the court had asked him not to leave the city and furnish to police the address where he would be staying during bail period.

Bangalore: The Supreme Court has eased the bail condition of PDP leader Abdul Nasser Ma’dani permitting him to go to Kerala, ten months after he was released on bail in the 2008 Bangalore serial bomb blasts case.

One of the accused in the case, Ma’dani has been living in Bangalore, undergoing treatment for various diseases including diabetes and vision-threatening ailment, as his bail condition did not allow him to travel out of the city.

Arrested in Kerala on August 17, 2010, he had been lodged in Parappana Agrahara Jail until he secured bail in July last years.

He has been charged with treason, terrorism and attempt to murder.

The serial blasts prior to a poll meeting to be addressed by senior BJP leader LK Advani had left 58 people dead and over 200 others injured.
