Mumbai, April 3 : Taking pride to be the first transgender contesting 2019 Lok Sabha polls from Mumbai North Central seat, Sneha Nivrutti Kale stated that post-independence,all the governments have overlooked at the third gender’s development.

Talking to UNI here after filing her nomination as an Independent candidate,the 27-year-old Ms Kale feels alienated on the economic and social front.

She said that whenever a transgender goes to a police station for registering complaints,primarily for sexual offence,the sleuths refuse to take their grievances into account.

Speaking further,Ms Kale claimed that she rejoices the support of around thirty-forty thousand inhabiting the Mumbai North Central constituency.

She expressed confidence that the third gender community will vote in her favor and if elected she will implement welfare schemes for widows,army personnel,and fill in the discriminatory gaps in which the development of transgenders is free-falling after 1947.

Tracing her roots in Pune city,Ms Kale has completed her graduation in commerce stream,and resides in Ghatkopar suburb.

Shivamogga, Karnataka, Apr 3 : Former Karnataka Minister and Coalition partners Congress-JDS candidate Madhu Bangarappa today filed his nomination for Shivamogga Lok Sabha seat, polling slated for Apr 18.
Madhu Bangarappa, son of former Chief Minister late S Bangarappa, has to face stiff challenge from sitting Lok Sabha member B Y Raghavendra, son of BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa.
Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, Minister for Water Resources D K Shivakumar, senior Congress leader Kagodu Thimmappa and MLA B K Sangamesh accompanied him.
Refuting the BJP leaders’ claim that they played a vital role in getting irrigation projects sanctioned to the district, Kumaraswamy said it was Minister Shivakumar and the government decided to sanction Rs 197 crore in the budget for the implementation of irrigation projects in the district. “Hence BJP leaders have no right to claim that they worked for the implementation of irrigation project,” he added.

Bengaluru, Apr 3 : Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had left an impressive imprint in the last five years of his rule at the Center, Former External Affairs Minister and the BJP leader S M Krishna today predicted that BJP will come to power once again.
Speaking at ‘Meet the Press’ programme, organised by the Bengaluru Press club, here on Wednesday, he said, “I think Modi had left a favorable imprint on the people of the country, you may call it a awe or a favorable imprint”.
Maintaining that BJP will retain power at the Center, Krishna said that ‘India had achieved an all-round growth in the last five years and more is due under the next government”.
Taking a dig at the AICC President Rahul Gandhi, the former Congress leader said that “ability to lead the country will not come from taking birth in a particular family and I was not supportive of dynastic politics. This drove me away from this party “.
Maintaining that he had joined the BJP, thanks to the Narendra Modi’s leadership to the nation, Krishna said that “the dynastic culture may come to an end in India or not, but I supported Modi he does not support this family rule, nor do I “.
Appreciating that in the last five years the country did not hear about the corruption at the national level, he said that “Modi has provided a corruption-free and scam-free” government at the center.
“The country had witnessed a progressive economic development during Narendra Modi’s government and the growth of GDP is also on higher side” he said.
Replying to a question, he said that he have plans to take part in the election campaign for the victory of the BJP candidates, he also said that “I will also go to Mandya where the BJP is extending support to independent candidate Sumalatha, widow of former Minister M H Ambareesh”.
“There is a favorable atmosphere for Narendra Modi to come back to the seat power at the Center”, he said.

The man reportedly left behind a note saying that his wife’s terminal cancer, which had no cure, was the reason behind the drastic step.

On Tuesday morning, the security guard at a gated community in Sadashivanagar heard a loud thud, around 10.30 am. He found a man and a labrador lying in a pool of blood. Later, the man’s wife was also found dead in their apartment.

Reports identified the man as 58-year-old Atul Upadhay and his wife, 53-year-old Mamata. The couple, who were residents of the gated community, did not have any children. The incident took place after their nephew and a law student, Rishab, who was residing with them, left home at 9 am.

The police found a death note alongside Atul’s body. The note reportedly said that his wife’s terminal cancer, which had no cure, was the reason behind the drastic step.

“Cancer is a dangerous disease. This is better than cancer. This is not selfishness,” the note read, according to police.

While Atul ran a travel and tourism business, his wife was a homemaker, r Atul was the CEO of a travel agency called NockNock Analytics, which had an office in Nandidurg Road.

The security guards were the ones who alerted the Sadashivanagar Police Station. According to the police, Atul killed Mamata, by hitting her with dumbbells following an argument, which left her dead instantly. He then threw their pet dog off the terrace before he jumped from the terrace.

“We found Atul’s wife dead in a pool of blood in the hall of their flat and a bloodstained dumbbell next to her,” a police officer told media.

The police have informed Mamata’s US-based sister about the incident. Meanwhile, both the bodies have been kept at MS Ramaiah Hospital. The police will conduct post-mortem procedures once the relatives arrive.

Mysuru, Apr 3 : After a big success of Tribal booths in the 2018 Karnataka Assembly elections, the District administration has decided to double the number and set up six Polling booths specially to attract Triabal voters in Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha constituency where Polling will be held in the First phase on April 18.
Last year, three booths had been set up which was well received by the Adivasi voters and consequently the poll percentage in those booths had seen considerable rise, thanks to enthusiastic voting by the inhabitants of tribal settlements.
The booths had been identified based on the population of Tribals living in the vicinity. And the initiative is to bring them to the polling booths and participate actively in the ?Festival of Democracy?.
Incidentally, such booths will be located close to the ‘haadis’, which are either inside the forests or on the forest fringes, to facilitate them to vote at ease.
Each voter will be given a sapling, mostly fruit-bearing plant, after showing their inked finger, as a token of appreciation, at the tribal booths. Some NGOs working for the welfare of tribal community had joined the initiative.
Mysuru Zilla Panchayat CEO Jyothi, who is heading the SVEEP activities, said that more tribal booths had been planned in this election based on the response they got in the last Assembly elections.
The government ashram school at Mathur colony in Rajiv village and the Government Higher Primary School at Appalathi village in Periyapatna taluk; ashram schools at Shettihalli and Nagapura in Hunsur Taluk and ashram schools in Basavanagiri Haadi and Benzahalli colony in H.D. Kote taluk, which are the polling booths, have been identified for transforming them into Tribal booths. Artistes roped in for the purpose will recreate the booths resembling a Tribal ‘Haadi’, bringing in elements that make Adivasis feel at home when they come for voting, Jyothi said.
Though a part of Mysuru district, H.D. Kote comes under Chamarajnagar Lok Sabha constituency.
H D Kote, Hunsur and Periyapatna constituencies have a large population of Tribals, particularly Jenu Kurubas. H D Kote Taluk has the largest population of forest-based Tribals. Mysuru district alone has over 212 tribal settlements spread across H D Kote, which is also reckoned to be backward, Hunsur, Periyapatna, and Nanjangud constituencies. H.D. Kote is the only taluk in the State where indigenous forest-based tribal people live.
The Jenu Kuruba community is an indigenous tribe that lost its traditional way of life after Bandipur Tiger Reserve was established.

Kalaburagi, Apr 3 :Disgruntled Congress MLA Dr Umesh Jadav, who joined BJP recently, filed his nomination today for Kalaburagi Lok Sabha seat, polling for which is scheduled for April 23.
Dr Jadav is in all possibility has to face a tough challenge from senior Congress leader M Mallikarjun Khage who is expected to file his nomination tomorrow.
A large number of his followers and well wishers, withstanding scotching heat condition with mercury touching 41.5 degree Celsius, accompanied him in the procession undertaken before filing the nomination.

Mandya, Apr 3 : Stars of Silver Screen are sweating it out in this Sugar District Mandya in Karnataka where film stars Sumalatha Ambareesh is contesting as independent to regain her late husband and former Minister M H Ambareesh’s Lok Sabha seat and despite strong challenge by upcoming filmm actor Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.
Both the candidates are testing their political fortune for the first time.
Sumalatha began her campaign even before filing nominations after being denied ticket by Congress party which had given the Mandya constituency to its coalition partner JDS. BJP has extended its full support to her and has not fielded its candidate, Raitha Sangha. A large number of sandalwood actors including Darshan, Toogudeepa, Yash, Prem among others have already began campaigning for her.
Darshan and Yash were on the road shows in more than 50 villages and they have been received with great response from the fans.
Actor Prem, called ‘Lovely Star’, joined Darshan and participated in hectic electioneering. They were honoured with caps and shawls by Muslim leaders at the Beedi Colony.
Nikhil Kumaraswamy, is also very active in campaigning and attracting crowd. He has the support of almost all the legislators of this constitutency and also has support of both the Coalition partners.
Higher Education Minister G.T. Deve Gowda, K. Annadani, Malavalli legislator, JD(S) MLC Marithibbe Gowda and others accompanied Nikhil during campaign.
While Nikhil sought votes on the achievements of his father-led coalition government, his grandfather Devegowda asked the voters to elect him keeping in mind the development of the constituency.

Bengaluru, Apr 3 : The Congress party election manifesto will offer a soothing balm to the people of the country which suffered wounds and people at large suffered under the five-year rule of the BJP at the center that has left common people and farmers in distress, KPCC President Dinesh Gundurao said on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference here, he said the Congress Manifesto is revolutionary and historic. It aims towards saving the country and oust the BJP rule, and had perfect future drive and clarity to take the nation on the ‘right path’.
He said the manifesto was drafted after detailed consultations in all the states of the country after the party had spoken to social and national thinkers, farmers, youth, women and all other stake holders who hold the correct opinion towards well being of the nation. This projects all-round development of the country and its economy. ”It is a detailed documentary on how the nation progressed or otherwise during the BJP rule,” he said
Mr Gundurao said it should not be the aim of a political party to come to power after the election. It should strive towards National Integration and safeguarding sovereignty. ”But what the BJP had done during last five years. It caused severe damage to the very web of United India by practicing communal politics,” he said.
Mr Gundurao said during the last five years the country witnessed its social fabric being disturbed in the guise of violence against cow slaughter, Dalits and students being oppressed against their freedom of speech and practices. The Congress manifesto will free people of all these ills if the party was elected to power in this general election.
He said the country economy had suffered under Narendra Modi rule and it was under duress. But the true picture had been kept under the carpet by the government. True statistics of the country’s standing in the global economy had been under wraps. ”Inept decisions by this government and its Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has left the economy to suffer,” he said.
Mr Gundurao said ‘Nyay’ scheme announced by AICC President of providing Rs 72,000 per year to poor familes under minimum wages scheme was not a hallow promise but it will be implemented with true spirit an planning if Congess and its allied parties comes to power at the centre.
