The State Bank of India said that it will function, but other nationalised banks are likely to remain closed because of participation by union members.

BENGALURU:  Schools and colleges across several parts of the state will be closed on Tuesday, the first of the two-day bandh called by several trade unions against the alleged anti-labour policies of the Narendra Modi government. In addition, examinations being held at several universities have been postponed.

On Monday, Deputy Commissioners of several districts, including Bengaluru, issued orders for schools to remain closed on Tuesday. The bandh is also likely to affect public transport as buses operated by the state government will mostly stay off the roads as union members are supporting the bandh call.

However, both the BMTC and KSRTC said that the final call will be taken on Tuesday morning after monitoring the situation.  Autorickshaws, cabs and trucks services will continue to ply. The State Bank of India said that it will function, but other nationalised banks are likely to remain closed because of participation by union members.

Schools and colleges in city will not function on Tuesday, following the bandh call given by various trade unions across the nation. Bengaluru Urban DC Vijay Shankar issued an order declaring a holiday, considering the inconvenience due to lack of  transport. However, this order applies only for Tuesday and does not mention Wednesday. Parents need not worry even if a school says it is functioning, as the order is binding on all schools, including ICSE and other schools.

Meanwhile, several state universities have postponed examinations scheduled on January 8 and 9. As per official information provided by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Bangalore University, Davangere University, Tumakuru University and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Kuvempu University and Rani Channamma University, examinations scheduled for January 8 and 9 have been postponed and students can check their university websites for the revised dates. Several private schools have declared holidays for two days  Parents angrySome private schools have yet to take a decision and communicate this to parents, which is causing inconvenience, says parents.

A few schools which have put up a notice saying the school will function as usual, but parents have to make their own transportation arrangements. “Every time such situations arise, schools leave us in the lurch. This is inconvenience to working parents,” says another parent.

The leaders expressed dismay at spending time in trying to attract other status-laden legislators, including the prospect of supplementary atmosphere for the government and the ministerial post. The sources said that the High Command, which carefully sensitized the functioning of the state BJP leaders, intervened in the appropriate context and was considering conducting the entire Lok Sabha election.

Following the cabinet recruitment and recruitment of the Cabinet, the BJP had been in favor of the situation. But after the development of the BJP’s expectations, there has been no provision for government formation. Even after the Makara transition, the state BJP leaders have sunk into account of a huge political change.

The Lok Sabha constituency election nemakavadaru prabharigalu and convener of the meeting has been prepared by many in the country. Some leaders have requested a change in the field of change, since senior leaders have not taken action because they are not in the proportion of the preparedness in those fields. A senior leader said that the party has been backing the organization and reinforcement.

Many of the dissatisfaction with the dissatisfaction over the conduct of the core committee, including the state BJP core committee, The unilateral decisions of the few leaders are undermining the sentiments of lower leaders and activists. In a recent meeting, the House of Representatives also objected to some members elected by the party. The opposition did not find the right answer from the Opposition Council members regarding the selection criteria. There are only a few leaders in the Core Committee, the decisions are taking place. Most of these are personal decisions that make the party’s decisions very low.

BJP high command, which has given a green signal to the government, has been sensitive to the performance of the state BJP leaders. The expectation of the Lok Sabha polls is to be preferred by the government if the effort is made on one hand. However, it is possible that they are not aware that their preparation does not work in accordance with their expectations. The sources said that the chiefs would intervene in the right direction and bring their electoral process under their own supervision.

The High Command hopes that it will be ready for all Lok Sabha elections in addition to utilizing the overall government formation. The BJP national executive meeting will be held in Delhi on 11th and 12th, and all these issues will be discussed. It is said that later preparedness is expected to accelerate.

It is best to focus on the preparation of the Lok Sabha polls without the desire to form the BJP government. It is not okay to waste time for any reason. The Congress and the JDS parties are likely to benefit from the BJP’s weaknesses in the form of government. : Lehrsing, Member of the Legislative Council

All the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies will be taken over by the President and will soon take action to bring the President’s attention to some modifications regarding the appointment of the convenor. As well as the eighth morcha will act as their responsibility. : N. Ravikumar, BJP State General Secretary, Member of the Legislative Council

January 8, 2019 by Nasheman

Nasheman News : With air pollution reaching ‘severe’ levels every winter in the national capital, the Delhi government on Monday joined hands with the Washington University to monitor real-time air quality and identify pollution sources in the city for the next 18 months.

“Delhi government has signed a MoU with Washington University (St Louise) to undertake a real-time Source Apportionment Study in India’s national capital to evaluate the air quality issues,” an official statement released by Delhi Environment Minister Imran Hussain’s office said.

The MoU, it said, is aimed at a joint study to be undertaken by the Washington University and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) for the real-time source apportionment with special reference to particulate matter (PM)2.5.

“Analysis of elemental, organic carbon and 72 inorganic elements will also be undertaken under the study,” the statement said, adding that the work will be undertaken by the personnel of the Aerosol and Air Quality Research Laboratory (AAQRL).

Under the study, two special monitors will be used to obtain the composition of PM2.5. “The data will help to understand the source profile which needs to be regulated for the effective improvement of air quality in the city,” Hussain’s office said.

Wireless sensors will also be deployed in the city to help monitor the real-time air quality and the source of pollution at select locations in the city.

“The real-time data will help policy developers to regulate and improve the air quality, whereas the state of art instrument demonstration will lead a path of capacity building development,” the statement said.

Banking Services Likely To Be Hit On January 8, 9: All You Need To Know

Banking services are likely to be hit on January 8-9 (Tuesday and Wednesday) as a large section of PSU bank employees are expected to go on a two-day strike to back a nationwide protest called by 10 central trade unions.

The strike has been called to protest against the government’s alleged anti-worker policy. Many public sector banks including IDBI Bank announced in their stock exchange filing that operations are likely to be disrupted in case employees join the strike.

The All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) and Bank Employees Federation of India have already informed the Indian Banks’’Association (IBA) of the nationwide strike on January 8-9, 2019.

Allahabad Bank also said that the issues and demands are of industry level, implying that banks services will be affected if employees take part in the strike.

“Therefore, if the strike takes place, the functioning of branches of the bank may be affected. The bank is taking all the necessary steps in terms of the existing guidelines for smooth functioning of bank’s branches/offices on the day of strike(s), in the event the strike materialises,” it said.

A number of central trade unions INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, AICCTU, UTUC, TUCC, LPF and SEWA had earlier termed many policies of the government as anti-people and there are high chances that public bank services will be hit tomorrow.

Bank of Baroda, which is another public sector bank, said, In the event of AlBEA and BEFI proceeding on strike on January 8-9, 2019, the functioning of bank’s branches/offices in some of the zones may be affected.

In fact, some private sector banks also fear that their employees will take part in the strike tomorrow to support the demands and normal working at such banks could also be affected.

Banking services were earlier affected twice in December 2018 when a similar strike was called. At least 10 lakh bank employees took part in the nationwide strikes on December 26.

Here is all you need to know about the charter of demands:

* Urgent measures for containing price-rise through universalisation of public distribution system and banning speculative trade in commodity market.

* Containing unemployment through concrete measures for employment generation.

* Strict enforcement of all basic labour laws without any exception or exemption and stringent punitive measures for violation of labour laws.

Cabinet approves Citizenship Amendment Bill

January 7, 2019 by Nasheman

Nasheman News : The Union Cabinet on Monday approved the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 that aims to give citizenship to illegal migrants of six minority groups from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan, a move that has stoked a major row in Assam.

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, cleared the bill soon after a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) presented its report in the Lok Sabha endorsing the move to legalize minority immigrants who entered Assam till December 31, 2014 but asked the government to tread with caution in view of the matter being sub judice and take all legal steps, lest it causes embarrassment at a later stage.

The amendment bill is likely to be tabled in Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) pulled out of the BJP-led government in Assam over the latter’s decision to go ahead with the Citizenship Bill. Assam and other northeastern states are witnessing protests against the Bill.

As many as eight MPs in the 30-member parliamentary Committee, headed by Rajendra Agarwal of the BJP, have appended their notes of dissent to the report of the JPC that was tabled in Parliament on Monday saying the provisions of the Bill went against the spirit of the Assam Accord and will accentuate divisions and discontent among the people of the state.

DHARWAD: The Kumaraswamy government’s proposal to start English medium in government schools received a big setback with the coalition partners’ Coordination Committee chairman Siddaramaiah reiterating his stand on continuing Kannada medium in the primary level.

Siddaramaiah even assured of speaking to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy in this regard. At the valedictory ceremony of the 84th Kannada Sahitya Sammelana on Sunday, Siddaramaiah strongly propounded that primary education up to seventh standard should be imparted in Kannada medium.
