WhatsApp’s ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature finally rolled out

San Francisco: WhatsApp has finally rolled out its most anticipated feature ‘Delete for Everyone’ that allows its over one billion users revoke their messages in case they sent those to a wrong person or a group.

You can only delete messages for everyone for up to seven minutes after sending.

“Once seven minutes have passed, there is no way to delete messages for everyone,” Facebook-owned WhatsApp said in its updated FAQ on Friday.

“In order for messages to be successfully deleted for everyone, both you and your recipient must be using the latest version of WhatsApp for Android, iPhone or Windows Phone,” the micro-blogging platform said.

WhatsApp was working on this feature for almost a year.

You can now delete messages for everyone or just for yourself.

“Deleting messages for everyone allows you to delete specific messages you have sent to either a group or an individual chat. This is particularly useful if you sent a message to the wrong chat or if the message you sent contains a mistake,” WhatsApp noted.

Messages you successfully delete for everyone will be replaced with “This message was deleted” in your recipients’ chats.

Similarly, if you see “This message was deleted” in a chat, it means that the sender deleted their message for everyone.

This is how it works:

Open WhatsApp and go to the chat containing the message you wish to delete.

Tap and hold the message and choose Delete from the menu.

Optionally, select more messages to delete multiple messages at once. Then tap “Delete for Everyone”.

“If you or your recipient are not using the latest version of WhatsApp for Android, iPhone or Windows Phone, this feature will not be supported,” WhatsApp said.

Recipients may see your message before it’s deleted or if deletion was not successful.

According to WABetaInfo, a fan website that tracks WhatsApp, this feature works for messages in text, videos, GIFs, pictures, voice messages, quoted messages and status replies.

The second part is to delete messages only for yourself.

Deleting messages for yourself allows you to delete your copy of messages you’ve sent or received from your phone.

“This has no effect on your recipients’ chats. Your recipients will still see the messages in their chat screen,” WhatsApp said.

For this, open WhatsApp and go to the chat containing the message you wish to delete.

Tap and hold the message and choose Delete from the menu.

Optionally, select more messages to delete multiple messages at once. Then tap “Delete for Me”.

“The feature is being slowly rolled out and users can reinstall WhatsApp in order to download from the server the latest configuration,” WABetaInfo said.

Apple finally launches iPhone ‘X,’ iPhone8, Apple Watch Series 3

San Francisco: Living up to the hype it generated on the 10th anniversary of iPhone, Apple on Tuesday unveiled iPhone ‘X’ with facial recognition system, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, new Apple Watch Series 3 and Apple TV 4K.

The device can be pre-ordered from October 27 will be available from November 3 for Rs 89,000 in India.

Hosting the event for the first time at the opulent Steve Jobs Theater on the new Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California, the tech giant introduced iPhone ‘X’ – an ultra-premium model.

iPhone ‘X’ sports a unique “FaceID” facial recognition system to unlock the device. Just look at your phone to unlock it. The feature is enabled by a ‘True Depth’ camera system in the A11 neural engine.

Wearing a hat, glasses or new hairstyle will not fool the FaceID system that also works with Apple Pay.

The device with 2046 X 1125 resolution supports HDR in Dolby Vision, HDR10 and True Tone and comes in Space Grey and Silver colours with ‘Super Retina’ display.

Users can tap on the screen to wake up iPhone X that has 12MP dual-camera system with deeper pixels and dual optical image stablisation at the rear. iPhone ‘X’ does wireless charging via Qi technology.

The iPhone 8 features a new 6-core A11 Bionic processor which is 70 per cent faster than the previous A10.

Apple also introduced Animoji where users can animate an emoji and share it on social media.

Apple also showcased a charging mat called ‘AirPower’ that charges iPhone, Watch and AirPods. The mat would be available from next year.

The tech giant also introduced iPhone 8 and 8 Plus (in Silver, Space Grey and Rose Gold colours) that house wireless charging technology with an improved retina displays.

iPhone 8 64GB price costs Rs 64,000 while 256GB variant will be available for Rs 77,000.

iPhone 8 Plus starts at Rs 73,000 for 64GB. The 256GB variant will cost Indian users Rs 86,000. People can pre-order the devices from September 15 and the phones will be available from September 29.

The iPhone 8 features a new 6-core A11 Bionic processor which is 70 per cent faster than the previous A10.

iPhone 8 and 8 Plus – both still have home button intact — feature new sensors. The lenses feature f1.8 and f2.8 apertures (which is brighter than the 7 Plus telephoto) in the iPhone 8 Plus.

According to Philip W. Schiller, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, the iPhone 8 cameras and the A11 Bionic chip have been calibrated for Augmented Reality (AR).

Jeff Williams, Apple’s Chief Operating Officer, unveiled Apple Watch Series 3 with cellular connectivity built in.

Apple Watch Series 3 will cost Rs 29,900 with cellular connectivity. Series 1 is now priced at 21,900.

“You can keep the same number as your iPhone to make and receive calls. Maps will work on Series 3. Location will switch over to your watch automatically,” Williams told the gathering.

Apple Music will come to Apple Watch, allowing you to stream directly 40 million songs. Ask Siri to find your favourite track.

“With 50 per cent year-on-year growth, Apple Watch is the number one watch brand in the world, eclipsing Rolex, with 97 per cent customer satisfaction,” CEO Tim Cook announced.

Cook also introduced the new Apple TV 4K, designed to deliver a stunning cinematic experience at home.

With support for both 4K and High Dynamic Range (HDR), Apple TV 4K features unbelievably sharp, crisp images.

With Apple TV 4K, viewers can enjoy a growing selection of 4K HDR movies on iTunes.

“Bring the magic of the cinema straight to your living room with the new Apple TV 4K,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services.

Netflix and Amazon Prime 4K videos are coming to Apple TV as well.

Apple TV 4K starts Rs 15,900 for 32GB or Rs 17,900 for 64GB, joining Apple TV (4th generation) 32GB at Rs 12,900, available through select Apple Authorised Resellers.

Customers will be able to order both Apple TV 4K models beginning September 15, with availability beginning September 22 in the US and 21 additional countries and regions, and worldwide soon after.

Earlier, dedicating the theatre to Jobs “because we loved him and because he loved days like this,” Cook said: “Jobs’ vision and passion lives here on Apple Park and everywhere around us”.

Fathima Tabassum Nawab Jaan: A Multifaceted Persona

Fathima Tabassum Nawab Jaan, hailing from Bangalore happens to be a highly qualified woman having acquired her Master’s degree (graduate) in Economics from Bangalore University.

During the period of going through her academics qualification Fathima Tabassum Nawab Jaan also happened to be a junior under officer in NCC and successfully completed 12 NCC camps and also holds a “C” certificate.



That apart, Fathima Tabassum Nawab Jaan before becoming an entrepreneur was also an active social worker and was even an executive board member of an NGO. Fathima Tabassum later on joined an NGO as a co – founder & chairman of NAARI FOUNDATION for the women’s in conflict areas such Victims of social abuse, rape, acid attacks, welfare of literate, illiterate & downtrodden women in fact women from all strata of life as well as children.

Fathima Tabassum Nawab Jaan’s portfolio also includes, being the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Agni Leadership Centre, besides she is also the managing partner of an FMCG trading firm running under the brand of “FAIZA FOODS”.

NAARI Foundation being recognized by Indian Economics Trade Organization (IETO) along with Asian Arab Chambers of Commerce(AACC) and Diplomatic Council Corps of Karnataka (DCCK) and British South India Council of Commerce (BSICC). You see many women from the lower strata of society and for that matter even from the upper strata of society find it impossible to voice their opinion or even fail to express their grievances openly. They are so meek sometimes that they quietly give in to the dominating power of their husbands, in laws & sometimes even the society at large. So I sincerely felt that there should be a strong platform for all these women. And this platform is NAARI FOUNDATION.”



Fathima Tabassum Nawab Jaan further explains on how it was difficult to make these women come under the roof of NAARI FOUNDATION, “Initially it was quite an uphill task to convince these women but I stuck to my guns and slowly, slowly and with a more consistent efforts I succeeded in making them see the reason for their suffering and how NAARI FOUNDATION can come to their rescue and help them to solve their problems and sometimes even the day – to – day ones.”

Fathima Tabassum Nawab Jaan continues by stating, “To be very frank as far as funding NAARI FOUNDATION is concerned 50% of my earning from my own business of FAIZA FOODS under FMCG.

Then Fathima Tabassum Nawab Jaan goes ahead to clear the air regarding certain confusions as far as NAARI FOUNDATION is concerned, “I joined this organization mainly to teach the girls on how to lead their life following the right path and fight for their rights and this in no way means that we are making them a rebel. No we are not!!! Besides there is no restrictions on the age limit too, to be a member of NAARI FOUNDATION as we have members ranging from the age of 18 to 80. Not only these we also enlighten them about the proper teachings of the way of living and the over – all response is very good. And come to think of it, it’s only a year since NAARI FOUNDATION has been started. First of all we help these women by counseling them on varied aspects and problems of their life which also includes domestic violence and their marital issues too.”

Fathima Tabassum Nawab Jaan says this in conclusion, “These women were also helped during the phase of demonetization, the scheme which was implemented by our honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. We rushed towards a small bank opposite Amaanat Bank in Bangalore. There was a long serpentine queue in front of the Bank and the women were complaining that “we poor women are standing here since hours and none of the rich people are seen here and we need money which we are not getting.” So we helped them in all possible ways.
