SRK LAUNCHES PRITAM’S MUSIC A & R VENTURE JAM8 WITH ‘RAEES’

Pritam’s dream project JAM8 will “compose & produce” 2 songs & “compose” 1 song for SRK’s film RAEES, slated for 25th Jan, 2017 release. The dubbing of Status Air Vision’s BHAAGYA NA JAANE KOI (in Hindi & Avadhi languages), produced by Sushila Bhatia & directed & edited by Dilip Gulati is in progress at Studio DG9 and will be completed on 15th Jan, 2017. The mixing of final sound – tracks & DI of the film is now in progress. The film will be readied for an early release. The film which was shot for 30 days in Lucknow locales is written by the late legendary author Munshi Premchand known for his largest selling novels “Kafan” & “Nirmala. YASHWANT INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL – 2017 TO BE HELD FROM 20th JAN 2017 TO 26th JAN 2017

Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan (YCP), Mumbai in collaboration with Pune Film Foundation, University of Mumbai and supported by Government of Maharashtra is all set to organize the “7th Yashwant International Film Festival 2017” from 20th Jan, 2017 to 26th Jan, 2017 at Chavan Centre, Mumbai. This was announced by Festival Director Dr. Jabbar Patel at a press conference in the presence of YCP’s General Secretary Sharad Kale, Festival Chief Co -Ordinator Mahendra Teredesai & Desk Officer Sanjay Bansode. Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan’s President & MP Sharad Pawar & Vice Chancellor of University of Mumbai Dr. Sanjay Deshmukh will be present on the occasion, said YCP’s General Secretary Sharad Kale. “We are showing around 75 worldwide cinemas during the festival. The 35 – year -old from Uttarakhand also challenged the practice of polygamy & nikah halala (where a woman given triple talaq has to marry another man & consummate the marriage if she wants to get back with her divorced husband). This is such a real issue which attracts our filmmakers to make such a good & informative movie. Vipul Jha who is busy in a shooting of his upcoming short movie TRIPAL TALAQ based on the real issue of Tripal Talaq. GOAN OUTREACH ASSOCIATION’S “MUSICAL FIESTA NITE 2017”

Commemorating its 55th year of existence in Mumbai, the Goan Outreach Association of Mumbai organized a Mega Event “Musical Fiesta Nite 2017’ on last Saturday 14th Jan, 2017 at Dublin Square, Phoenix Market City, Kurla. The Musical Nite took the audinces back in time to bring back the Golden Era and introduced New – Age Goan Hip Hop Melodies performed by top Goan artistes of international fame, along with the heart throbs of the Goan music industry. ‘OK JAANU’ FEEDS OFF THE ENERGY OF A YOUNG TEAM

The team of Shaad Ali’s OK JAANU was highly motivated while shooting the film. The energy level on the sets was high since most members in the crew, including lead actors, Aditya Roy Kapur & Shraddha Kapoor, and the director were all young. The original OK KADHAL KANMANI starred Mammootty’s handsome son Dulqar Salman & Nithya in the lead. Given that most of them belonged to a similar age group, they fed of each other’s vibrant energy. Usually the team shot for about 14 hours a day and sometimes even ended up clocking in 19 hours on the floors. With a young, energetic & fast pace of work, the team completed the principal shooting of the film in just 36 days. Whenever the crew had a day off, the previous evening was spent partying at Shaad’s place till the following morning. The musical romance was shot in Mumbai and it was only natural to stage it in a natural, generic & beautiful manner.

‘THE CREW’ IS THE 1ST RUSSIAN FILM TO BE RELEASED IN INDIA

THE CREW is the 1st ever Russian film to be released in India after the cultural pact signed between PM Modi & Russian President Vladimir Putin. Libas by Riyaz Gangji has just gone public. It means that Libas has become the 1st Indian designer label to get listed on the National Stock Exchange of India.

With an Initial Public Offering of Rs.68; Libas has done what many Indian designer houses & labels have been trying to do since the past half a decade.

When approached, Riyaz Gangji explained the reason behind the move, “It’s easy to grow your company if you have people’s confidence. Aamir Khan is not known as Mr. Perfectionist for nothing. And with the finesse that he has displayed in his year ending presentation Dangal he has surpassed even his own volcano of filmmaking talent beyond any doubt. Need I say anything more on this front?

The flawlessly & perfectly scripted scenario of Dangal reveals that Mahavir Singh Phogat (Aamir Khan) is a wrestler whose sole dream is to win gold for India in the sport of wrestling and since he is unable to do so himself, he decides that he will train his son to become a champion. However, Mahavir is blessed with 4 daughters continuously and feels his dream of winning a medal for India lies shattered. But one fine day, Mahavir gets to know that his young daughters have had an altercation with neighbourhood boys and bashed them black & blue. That’s when he realises that his dream of winning a gold medal for the country in wrestling could be achieved by his daughters. Mahavir decides to train his young daughters into world class wrestlers. The girls are reluctant initially and find it tough to cope up with the gruelling training sessions, but soon become proficient in the sport.

With Aamir Khan at the helm of the entire filmmaking process of Dangal some of the perfection has rubbed off on director Nitesh Tiwari too, who had directed Chillar Party & Bhootnath Returns in his earlier two outings. So in his 3rd outing Dangal, Nitesh Tiwari delivers his most accomplished work so far. Most of the films take a long time to come to the point, but the middle & the final acts of Dangal are as attention grabbing & as eye catchingly enticing as its 1st act. In fact Nitesh Tiwari deserves a well – deserved standing ovation in tandem with Aamir Khan, his better half Kiran Rao & Siddharth Roy Kapur and of course Walt Disney & UTV Motion Pictures backing a finest film like Dangal all the way from “The Start” to “The End”. That apart a fair amount of Brownie Points should also go to the behind – the – scenes team comprising of Nitesh Tiwari, Piyush Gupta, Shreyas Jain & Nikhil Meharotra (writers), Pritam (music composer), Setu (cinematography), Ballu Saluja (editor), Amitabh Bhattacharya (lyricist) and last but not the least Kripa Shankar Bishnoi (coach with the Indian women’s wrestling team) who trained Aamir Khan and the entire crew for the superbly executed wrestling sequences.

Performance wise it is Aamir Khan who tops the list of the entire brigade of actors of Dangal. He has given an extraordinarily superb performance which even crosses the par excellence limitless category. The way he has worked hard for his unbelievable act of Mahavir Singh Phogat, including his bodily transformation, is just seen to be believed. He makes his return to the celluloid silver screen after a long hiatus of the alien PK. But it does make wonder as to why he had to shred his clothes in PK when he has a Volcano of talent ready to erupt any time on the celluloid silver screen. Having said all that what adjectives can one use for the other stellar cast except that they are all perfection personified and tried their level best to match Mr. Perfectionist step by step nay scene by scene. And the rooster of extremely talented performers are Sakshi Tanwar as Daya Shobha Kaur wife of Mahavir Singh Phogat, Fatima Sana Shaikh as Geeta Phogat, daughter of Mahavir Singh Phogat, Zaira Wasim as young Geeta, Sanya Malhotra as Babita Kumari, daughter of Mahavir Singh Phogat, Suhani Bhatnagar as young Babita, Aparshakti Khurrana as Mahavir’s nephew, Ritwik Sahore (Aparshakti’s younger part), Girish Kulkarni as the coach of Geeta & Babita. Besides Vivan Bhathena, Rohit Shankarwar, Kaustubh Pile et al in a cameo.

Tail Piece: Dangal is a rare masterpiece albeit interesting, lively & entertaining. So go for it. Dangal is no doubt a terrific film that stays in your heart and remains etched in your memory much after the screening has concluded. It Is indeed a classic film which blends drama, emotions, sportsmanship & patriotism extraordinarily. In fact Dangal is seeped in Indian ethos. The highs & the lows, the triumphs & the failures, the laughter & the heartbreak while watching Dangal make you smile, laugh, weep, cheer, ecstatic et al. So Dangal encompasses it all adroitly, with the finale leaving you extremely exhilarated. Dangal is no doubt a must, must watch film.

Jitendra Kumar Biswal is a quadriplegic person with extreme disability since childhood. So much so that he can’t even move around on his own and is permanently wheel chair bound. He has a male companion Moin Chacha (Brijendra Kala) who looks after him and takes care of all his needs. Later on he has a relationship with Swapna (Swapna Pati) a normal girl. That too after months of online interaction and then has a chance encounter with her. Slowly, slowly Jitendra develops unexplained feelings for her. On the other hand actress & social activist Swapna tries to cure the paraplegic Jitendra with her pure love & passion albeit adopting a different approach which seems to speak of a total dedication.

No Doubt debutant director Avinash Nanda’s, hailing from the ad world scenario, is praiseworthy. He has tried to portray the real life story of Quadriplegic person with a very sensitive and emotional approach. But the slow pace of the movie proves to be a roadblock. Yet Avinash Nanda has tried his level best to enliven the proceedings to a certain extent with 3 soulful numbers and extracting noteworthy performances from most of the actors in brief cameos like Preeti Jhangiani, Bijaya Jena, Aryan Vaid et al.

Performance wise a special well – deserved mention goes to Jitendra Kumar Biswal who plays himself and enacts the role of the main protagonist, Swapna Pati, Brijendra Kala & Hemant Chaudhary.

Avinash Nanda’s Two Desires And A Dream is a good film but it needs a lot of word of mouth publicity to garner & generate audiences interest. It can prove to be more of a multiplex & festival circuit fare rather than the single theaters.

Producer Sushila Bhatia (of Hindi film Bhaagya Na Jaane Koi fame) has completed the entire shooting of Status Air Vision’s Sawariya Mohe Rang De in a 25 days stint in & around Lucknow locales. The entire post -production work of the film is also complete, except for the Digital Intermediate work(DI) which will be completed on 5th January 2017 at Studio DG9.
