A television journalist employed with a Hindi news channel was shot at thrice by unidentified gunmen at his Ghaziabad residence on Sunday night, agency reports said.

A television journalist employed with a Hindi news channel was shot at thrice by unidentified gunmen at his Ghaziabad residence on Sunday night, agency reports said. The journalist, who has been identified as Anuj Chaudhary employed with Sahara Samay, sustained gunshot injuries on his right hand and abdomen after unidentified gunmen barged into his house and fired at him Sunday evening, police said.

Chaudhary was rushed to a hospital where he is being treated for gunshot wounds. His condition is said to be critical.

According to news agency, Chaudhary is married to a BSP Councillor and came under attack by two bike-borne assailants who shot at him soon after he returned home form Razapur.

“The firing incident occurred due to old enmity,” Senior Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Krishna as saying. The police are looking at past enmity as the possible motive behind the crime.

The family has identified the assailants, police said on Sunday evening, adding that it was yet to receive a complaint in the matter.

The Indian Express cited a police official as saying that Chaudhary had earlier approached them and claimed a threat to his life. There was a Rs 10 lakh contract on his head, he had told police.
Krishna informed the Indian Express that Chaudhary had been provided a gunner, but since it was a Sunday, he had asked him to return home. “No one else was injured in the attack.”

Chaudhary was rushed to Yashoda Hospital at Ghaziabad’s Nehru Nagar after the attack. According to a doctor attending to him, two bullets were extracted from his arms and another from his stomach. “He is being kept under observation, but is stable,” IE quoted the doctor as saying.

Three Bengaluru siblings murdered by their uncle

September 8, 2015 by Nasheman

Bengaluru siblings murdered

Bengaluru: The three children, who had gone missing from their Banaswadi school in August, had indeed met with a gory end.

The police managed to trace the accused, who confessed to having murdered the children and dumping their bodies into a manhole.

The accused is their uncle — their father’s cousin — who was allegedly having an affair with the children’s mother.

Fayum Baig (24), an electrician, was arrested by the Banaswadi police on Monday. The police said Fayum was having an affair with Nazima Begum, a garment factory employee and resident of Pilllanna Garden.

Nazima was separated from her husband, Ilyas Baig, six months ago. He left for Hyderabad, leaving Nazima with the three children.

Fayum wanted to marry Nazima, but was enraged when he found her with another man. In a fit of revenge, he went to the school and called out to the three siblings Ali Abbas Baig (8), Raheem Baig (4) and Husna Begum (6).

Since the children knew Fayum, they ran towards him, calling out ‘ chacha chacha’ . That was the last time the children were seen. The accused took them to an isolated spot and strangulated them one by one. He then dumped their bodies into a manhole near a mini-forest in HBR Layout, K.G. Halli.

Nazima had filed a police complaint after the children went missing, suspecting that her husband had taken them. The police even went to Hyderabad to question Ilyas Baig. It was when they found out about Nazima having had multiple affairs that they zeroed in on Fayum.

The police have so far recovered the body of Husna. The search was suspended on Monday after the heavy water flow due to excessive rain.

Gangster Salem gets life for Mumbai builder Pradeep Jain's murder

February 25, 2015 by Nasheman

Abu Salem

Mumbai: Extradited gangster Abu Salem was on Wednesday sentenced to life in prison by a TADA court for the 1995 murder of Mumbai builder Pradeep Jain.

On Monday, Salem’s advocate, Sudeep Pasbola, had contended that the court should fulfil the sovereign guarantee that India had given to Portugal while extraditing Salem.

He also added that the Indian government had assured the Portugal government that the treaty signed with them would not be violated. However, India’s demand for capital punishment and then for life imprisonment also amounted to violation of the treaty.

Pasbola had pointed out that as per the treaty, Salem cannot be awarded sentence for more than 25 years nor can he be given capital punishment.

He said that the set off period for Salem should be counted from the date when his extradition process began in 2002, and not from the date he was brought to India and arrested in 2005.

Pradeep Jain was shot dead by assailants outside his Juhu bungalow in March 1995 after he refused to give up a huge property to Salem.
