A trustworthy investigation, from HCU to JNU is the way out to save the country from the constitutional crisis: Adv. Sharfuddin Ahmad, SDPI

February 15, 2016 by Nasheman

Adv-Sharfuddin-SDPI

New Delhi: SDPI has presented a Memorandum to the President of India demanding a thorough investigation into the reigning controversy branding the HCU and JNU as Centers of anti-national activities and targeting the students having dissenting voice in false cases of sedition to divert the attention of the country from real issues.

SDPI took strong offence against the statement made in a hurry by the Home Minister Rajnath Singh casting aspersions upon the integrity and patriotism of the students of JNU, who have been fighting in a democratic way against the denial of justice. SDPI demands that after the opinion expressed by the Home Minister, it is incumbent that the issue must be thoroughly investigated either by a joint parliamentary committee or a judicial commission headed by sitting judge of Hon’ble Supreme Court, so that the country may be saved from the constitutional crisis.

Adv Sharfuddin Ahmad said, Home Minister Rajnath Singh teaching the country ‘to understand the reality’ connecting the democratic agitation as anti-national and at the instance of the enemies of the country in JNU on the basis of an alleged tweet on behalf of Hafiz Saeed justifying the arrest of the President of JNUSU Kanhaiya Kumar, is of grave concern and need further investigation. It has been reported that the tweet on which the statement of Home Minister is based is fake and manufactured with ill-intention to support the charge under which drastic and unproportionate action was taken by the police at the instance of Home Minister curtailing the civil rights and suppressing the civil liberties, guaranteed under the Constitution of India.

Since the formation of the NDA Govt., the country has been facing fake controversies based on manufactured issues to subjugate the democratic attitude and ethos. The leaders of RSS, VHP & BJP have been drumming up false issues as love Jihad, Ghar Wapsi, etc. to widen the communal cleavage and promote the mindset of hatred and intolerance. HRD Minister Smriti Irani called a press conference to impress the country that Rohit Vemula was not a Dalit and whole of the intelligence machinery was deployed to make the untruth true. It is to be noted that the Home Minister Rajnath Singh made a statement in hurry on the basis of a fake tweet connecting the activities of JNU with Hafiz Saeed of Pakistan only to convince the country that the arrest and the filing of the cases against the students of JNU are acts of unpatriotic and anti-nationalistic. The genesis of statement of the Home Minister has been exposed by media investigation and this also requires a deep investigation of the whole issue (from the charges thrust upon HCU to JNU). The charge of the treason and sedition have been imposed with a view of character-assassination of the students who have a deep democratic understanding and sense of duties in a democratic polity. The students’ leaders and political activists who have been vanguard against the RSS ideology are being targeted illegally by invoking the laws pertaining to sedition.

The NDA Govt. has been sensationalizing the country by concocting issues and now a constitutional crisis is being developed. There is a high increase in communal mindset. The caste terror is being promoted where the children of Dalits are being set afire. The statement of Home Minister in such a situation is only a symptom of the dangerous mindset as well as an indication of the future, the country is heading to face where the democracy of the country is itself at stake.

So, the scale of the challenge demands that all the secular forces should come together to fight out and save the secularism and democracy of the country by formulating united actions.

Imposition of President’s rule in Arunachal Pradesh blatant misuse of power: Adv. Sharfuddin Ahmad

January 29, 2016 by Nasheman

Adv.-Sharfuddin-Ahmed-Vice-President-of-SDPI

New Delhi: The Social Democratic Party of India-SDPI has termed the imposition of President’s rule in Arunachal Pradesh as blatant misuse of power in subverting democracy by the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre.

SDPI national vice president Adv. Sharfuddin Ahmad in a statement reminded the Modi Government pro-active role in imposing Central rule in Arunachal Pradesh was against the spirit of its promise of maintaining cooperative federalism during its rule. However, invoking Art. 356 of the Constitution in such haste without waiting for the Supreme Court verdict which was seized of the constitutional matters of the state in this regard.

Adv. Sharfuddin said that the Central government has not only acted in haste but with malice in taking this undemocratic step. It has usurped the rights of the people of Arunachal Pradesh to be governed by the elected leaders and thrust a Hindu right wing RSS governor.

He said that it is unfortunate that NDA Govt. has no respect for the Constitution and that the ‘power hungry’ government is indulged in rampant corrupt, communal, criminal, anti-dalit and anti-minorities. He further called upon the Supreme Court, the guardian of the Constitution, to take stringent action against this ‘murder of democracy’. Surely this govt. assumes to be above the law and so was keen on setting up National Judicial Appointments Commission (NJAC) as well to keep judges under its control, but failed, said the party leader.

Adv. Sharfuddin said that Arunachal Pradesh is just not the right stage for the theatre of political absurdity. Two-thirds of the state is claimed by China, a dormant Naga insurgency could always come back to life. All this political instability doesn’t bode well for the state. Instability, whether political or (related to) law and order in nature is not a good thing for a border state. China closely observes events occurring in India, which is an open book, but India hardly gets to know what’s happening in China.

He said that in India post of governor became a mockery and need serious amendments in the laws empowering the Central Government with respect to the appointment of the Governors in the States. Firstly, a Governor should not belong to a political party but a retired High Court Judge, defence personnel of captain or Colonel rank officers, etc.

New Delhi: Social Democratic Party of India activists thronged outside the office of the Human Resource and Development (HRD) Ministry, in the national capital expressing ire over the unfortunate incident of a Dalit scholar’s alleged suicide in the University Campus.

It’s not a suicide but an institutional killing with the involvement of the BJP leaders, the university administration and the ABVP goons, said Mohammed Shafi during the protest. He further said it the Union Minister for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya, BJP MLC Ramachandra Rao and other BJP leaders and university administration are responsible for the Dalit students’ boycott and the subsequent circumstances forcing the Dalit scholar’s death. The matter becomes evident that letters on this matter were sent to the university by MHRD, said Shafi.

Mohammed Shafi demanded from the government that the student’s family must be compensated immediately and that the suspension of the Dalit students be revoked forthwith with an initiation of an independent and impartial inquiry into the alleged suicide of Rohit Vemula.

The BJP MP, the union minister and all others should be booked for their role in creating a havoc in the Dalit students’ lives resulted by the ban, said Aslam.

SDPI to conduct campaign against communal terrorism

December 8, 2015 by Nasheman

SDPI

by SDPI

Bengaluru: Social Democratic Party of India is conducting a campaign against the communal terrorism patronized either directly or indirectly by the Sangh Parivar. The campaign is intended to draw peoples’ attention to the upsetting socio-political situation prevailing in the country and to bring confidence among them.

Within few months of being in power the NDA government has given up the agenda of development. BJP has repeatedly proved that they are running short of the maturity to lead world’s largest democracy. BJP MPs, Central Ministers, Chief Ministers of BJP ruled states and even governors appointed by the NDA Government are coming forward with controversial statements one after another mostly attacking the secular and progressive democratic thoughts prevailing among the people of our country. The socio-political situation of our country is growing vulnerable day by day. Word intolerance is much discussed in India at present. RSS and BJP leaders including Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi vocally try to establish that India is a country of tolerance. This verbal exercise itself calls out the pitiable social situation prevailing in India. The country passes through lot of changes and turmoil. In just over a year and a half of the NDA government the slogans of development have been replaced by narrative of divisiveness.

The government has failed to show the zeal to contain the radical right groups, which have been causing turbulence throughout the country. Attacks on Muslims owing to communal hatred, now mostly in the name of cow protection, has become a continuous process in different parts of the country. Caste prejudice and atrocities towards Daliths also are on the increase. Approach of leaders and ministers towards such incidents is more reprehensible. Over excited by power, BJP has forgotten decorum and principles of democracy.

Meanwhile, the spectrum of intolerance is widening and it is hunting whistle-blowers, reformists, writers, artists and activists by way of threats and killings. Let us remember assassination of Narendra Dabholkar in Pune, Govind Pansare in Mumbai and M.M. Kalburgi in Gulbarga. Writers, artists, cultural activists, scientists and public intellectuals are now compelled to come out with protest against the government’s failure to protect freedom of expression and contain religious intolerance.

Common mass of the country are frightened of the untoward and unhealthy developments imposed by the fascists and the administration. This is the occasion to spread message of fearlessness and confidence among the oppressed and minorities of our country. SDPI’s campaign includes Public Meetings, Seminars, Corner Meetings, Street Dramas, Posters, Leaflets, Different types of Poetical and Musical Programmes with a message ‘on your feet, not on your knees.’

The campaign will start with an indoor conference in Bangalore on 10th December and will extend up to 31st December 2015. The campaign is marked with a Parliament March scheduled for 21st December, Seminars at Jaipur, Kolkatta, Bangalore, Aligarh, Lucknow, Patna and Mumbai. Several other programmes would be conducted by state committees.
