Prabhas Thanks Statement For His Fans

Prabhas is “truly overwhelmed” and wants to give a “big hug” to Baahubali fans for showering him with love. Prabhas, who dedicated 5 years to the film franchise, posted a thank you note to his admirers on his Facebook page on Sun. He wrote: “To all my fans, a big hug to each one of you for all the love you all have showered on me. I have tried my best to go through a lot of the efforts you all have put to express your affection for me from different parts of India and even overseas. I am truly overwhelmed. The journey of Baahubali has been a long one but amongst the few things that I will take away from this, is all of you. Lot’s of love back to you all.” He even thanked the film’s director S. S. Rajamouli for “believing in me to carry off his huge vision to the masses, giving me a once – in – a – lifetime character of Baahubali and making the entire journey so special”. PK’s Tweets About The North – South Divide

Pawan Kalyan has been raking up the North -South divide in his tweets to attack Central BJP leadership. He further went ahead & pointed fault in the decision of AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu regarding the appointment of AK Singhal as EO of TTD. He raised the same North – South issue here too. In social media, varied reasons for Pawan’s fascination towards this North – South divide are being floated but 3 reasons are funny. Here are they…..1. He married his long – time lover & actress Renu Desai in 2009 but eventually divorced her due to incompatible issues. Many are wondering whether his anger against North India /Indians stems from his sour relationship with Renu Desai who happens to be a North Indian. 2. Pawan Kalyan thought of cracking the Hindi – belt with Sardaar Gabbar Singh. He gave exclusive interviews to Bollywood journalists before the release. His producers released the movie in massive manner in North India. But the movie bombed miserably in Hindi too. There were no takers for Katamarayudu in North India. Where as, Prabhas is now showing his strength in Hindi belt. Probably this could be another reason why he is frustrated with North Indians. 3. Before 2014 general elections, Pawan Kalyan was Narendra Modi’s favorite friend. He played key role in NDA’s win in Andhra Pradesh. But post – polls, Pawan’s relations with PM Modi went downwards. Pawan must have been disappointed with Modi’s ill treatment towards him and has started raising his anger against North Indians. This is one comment that is doing the rounds in social media.

Spyder To Be Postponed To Oct 2017?

Mahesh Babu & director AR Murugadoss’ SPYder will be released in Oct, 2017 and not in Aug, 2017. This would be the 2nd postponement of the movie. Earlier the makers pushed the action drama from 23rd Jun, 2017 to Jul, 2017. Recently, the movie’s PRO tweeted that 11th Aug, 2017 has been locked as the final release date. But industry is abuzz with the speculation that the makers are now looking for a right date in the month of Oct, 2017. Regular shoot would be wrapped up by this month end but director AR Murugadoss has shot action sequences with Blue mat to include visual effects at the time of post – production. So, the graphical team wants 3 months of time for better results. After Baahubali 2 became a mammoth hit, AR Murugadoss doesn’t want to go with normal range of visual effects. He believes that these action stunts would be the main highlight of the movie. Hence, the makers are thinking of pushing it to Oct, 2017. But final call will be taken soon regarding the release date. Right now, the producers are in confusion. SPYder is being made simultaneously in Telugu & Tamil languages with Mahesh Babu & Rakul Preet Singh as the lead pair. Budget of the movie is about Rs 100 Cr.

Lavanya Says No Issues With Smooch Scenes

Lavanya Tripathi doesn’t have any issues doing smooch scenes in films. Interacting with journalists, she clearly said that she is game for lip – to – lip smooch sequences provided they are shot aesthetically. “I love doing movies. I don’t have objections regarding smooch scenes. I will do anything that a character in the film demands. But they should not be filmed in a sleazy manner. That is the only reservation that I have regarding smooch scenes,” she averred. Lavanya will be seen next in Radha that is releasing soon. She has played Sharwanand’s lover in the movie. Lavanya says she has done a mass role in it. Her recent film Mister bombed miserably but she doesn’t have any regrets of doing that movie. She said that she liked the story. “Hits or flops are not in our hands. I did Mister because I liked the story that was narrated to me. Somehow, it didn’t hit it off with the audiences,” she reasoned. Lavanya has also started showing off skin in the movies. She also seems to be game for exposing.

Young hero Nikhil is on a success row. He is really picking up a variety of characters. Throughout the film, Nikhil sports an intense look seeking revenge against the goons for Injustice done to him & his family. Though script has entertaining comedy in parts but Nikhil will not be a part of such scenes unlike his past hits. Keshava is a bloodshed revenge action film with a raw look. Never in his career so far has Nikhil tried such intensity. Nikhil avers, “While my 1st 2 films, Swamy Rara & Dochay were crime comedies, Keshava is cent percent action in new shade.

Dull Promotion For Sharwanand’s Movie

Sharwanand has got his biggest hit to date with Shatamanam Bhavati early this year. When a hero delivers a blockbuster, the producers of his next film try to cash in on it and publicise their movie aggressively. But the makers of Sharwanand’s Radha are following old methods and not indulging in any aggressive publicity. The theatrical trailer that was released recently got a good appreciation. But it has failed to attract half million views even after 2 days. Lack of promotion from the makers was the reason for such a low count of views. Sharwanand is said to be totally unhappy with the production team from long back. He even stopped the movie’s shoot sometime back due to differences with them. Then the producers were forced to postpone the film to May, 2017 from March, 2017.

Taapsee Pannu is thrilled about grooving to the tunes of reprised version of some of the 1990’s Bollywood songs in her upcoming film Judwaa 2 as she considers dancing to be her 1st love. She is currently shooting here for Judwaa 2 with Varun Dhawan. “I think it’s been quite some time since I danced in a film. Last I remember doing it for one of my south films a couple of years back. Dancing has been my 1st love because I have been dancing since I was 6 years old and have taken professional training in Indian classical and a few western forms during my school & college days.” She adds, “When you have some great songs like the ones in Judwaa 2, it makes it an even more wonderful experience. Varun is a good dancer…..so, I am sure it will be a lot of fun to match steps with him.” Varun has stepped into superstar Salman Khan’s shoes to play a double role in the remake of the 1997 film Judwaa.

Ram Charan To Spend 125 Cr

This is the time of making visual spectacles with grandeur sets, international – standard visuals & effects. If a director takes up a period historical subject, he or she should not compromise on the budget. Ordinary historical dramas are passe after Baahubali 2 has raised the bar high for Indian movies. Even Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has decided to increase the budget of his period drama Padmavathi from Rs 160 crore to Rs 200 crore in order to match up to the high standards set by S. S. Rajamouli in production design. Taking inspiration from this, producer Ram Charan has decided to up the ante for his next production Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy that stars his father Chiranjeevi. Ram Charan along with his father watched S. S. Rajamouli’s epic drama at Prasad’s Imax (Large screen) on Tues night. After this, they have taken the decision to spend more money on sets & graphics of Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy. Only a lavish movie can survive at the Box -Office turnstiles now. The film is to be directed by Surender Reddy who until now has not made period dramas or historical movies. Ram Charan & Surender Reddy were planning to make the movie with a good budget of Rs 80 Cr but now Charan is willing to spend more than Rs 125 Cr on this to make it a spectacle.

Akhil On The Chiranjeevi Tryst

It’s a case of double role reversal. When Nagarjuna was the host of Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu, Ram Charan appeared as a guest. When Ram Charan’s father is the host of the same show, Nagarjuna’s son is a guest. Akhil is going to be on “MEK”. The episode has been shot. Sharing a moment from the shoot, the young Akkineni tweeted saying, “Can’t explain in words how much fun I had at #MEKwithMegastar he made me feel so comfortable. Thank you for the donation to blue cross!” It’s notable that Akhil is sympathetic to Blue Cross, an organization with which his mother, Amala, has been passionately associated for many years.

US-backed Syrian forces ‘fully capture’ Tabqa from ISIL

May 11, 2017 by Nasheman

Syrian Democratic Forces say they now control all of the key city and an adjacent dam east of ISIL stronghold of Raqqa.

After taking Tabqa, SDF forces are expected to advance towards Raqqa [File: Rodi Said/Reuters]

by Al Jazeera

A US-backed alliance of Syrian Kurdish and Arab fighters has fully captured the city of Tabqa and a strategic dam nearby from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant group (ISIL, also known as ISIS), according to the group and a monitor.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Wednesday it had taken full control of the contested city with the help of US-led coalition air raids after more than a month of heavy fighting.

“Our forces have seized control of both the dam and the city of Tabqa,” Jihan Sheikh, of the Ghadab al-Furat (dubbed Wrath of the Euphrates) told Al Jazeera.

Ghadab al-Furat is a Kurdish group fighting under the SDF. They launched a campaign in October 2016 to retake Raqqa, the de facto capital of the ISIL in northern Syria.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based monitor that relies on a network of contacts on the ground to track developments in Syria’s war, also confirmed the SDF’s takeover of the area.

The city and the adjacent Tabqa dam are key objectives in the US-led coalition’s push to retake ISIL’s self-proclaimed capital of Raqqa.

In March, fears about the major hydroelectric dam’s integrity after fighting had forced it out of service led to a brief pause in military operations amid warnings that a collapse would be “catastrophic”.

‘Significant development’

The recapture of Tabqa leaves no other major ISIL-held urban settlements on the eastern road to Raqqa.

Al Jazeera’s Charles Stratford, reporting from Gaziantep along the Syria-Turkey border, called the capture a “significant development”, particularly following Washington’s recently-announced decision to arm the Kurdish fighters battling ISIL in Syria.

The US has said that the SDF, particularly its core component, the Kurdish Peoples’ Protection Units (YPG), are its most effective ground partner in the fight against ISIL in Syria.

US President Donald Trump on Monday authorised the direct shipment of arms to the YPG to facilitate the takeover of Raqqa, drawing intense opposition from Turkey.

Ankara says the YPG is an extension of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) separatists inside Turkey that have waged an armed campaign since 1984.

READ MORE: Turkey condemns US move to arm Syrian Kurdish fighters

The SDF assault on Tabqa began after US forces helped its fighters conduct an airborne and water crossing of the Euphrates in late March.

According to Pentagon estimates from last year, the SDF has more than 40,000 fighters.

ISIL captured Raqqa in January 2014, and took a nearby airbase from the Syrian government in August the same year.

It lost the strategic airbase, about 45km west of Raqqa, to the SDF last month.

The United Nations said in a recent press release that at least 39,000 newly-displaced people fled to the Jib Al-Shaair makeshift camp in Raqqa, where four out of five people are staying in the open air without appropriate shelter.

As the Syrian conflict enters its seventh year, nearly half-a-million people have been killed in the fighting and more than 12 million Syrians – half the country’s pre-war population – have been forced from their homes.

Iyer stars in Delhi’s 2-wicket win over Gujarat

May 11, 2017 by Nasheman

Shreyas-Iyer

Kanpur: Young Shreyas Iyer missed a magnificent century by four runs but that was enough for Delhi Daredevils to edge past Gujarat Lions by two wickets in an inconsequential Indian Premier League (IPL) clash at the Green Park Stadium here on Wednesday.

If Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson demolished the Gujarat Lions in their away encounter at the Ferozeshah Kotla in Delhi last Thursday, it was Iyer, who almost single-handedly tamed the Lions in their own den with a 57-ball 96, his highest IPL score.

Languishing at the bottom of the IPL standings and already out of contention for the play-offs, both the sides had nothing to lose in the contest. With the win, Delhi rose to sixth while Gujarat are at the penultimate spot in the eight-team table.

Chasing a mammoth 196, Delhi lost half their side for 105 runs before Iyer and Australian Pat Cummins’ cameo (24 of 13 balls) guided the visitors to the win.

Gujarat on the other hand, were electric on the field with skipper Suresh Raina and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, accounting for three brilliant run-outs of the in-form Pant (4), Marlon Samuels (1) and Corey Anderson (6).

Delhi failed to get the momentum with the run-outs having lost opener Samson, bowled by left-arm pacer Pradeep Sangwan after scoring a 7-ball 10 before losing Pant immediately off an excellent throw at the stumps from Raina.

Karun Nair (30) and Iyer then stabilised the innings with a 57-run third wicket stand before the strategic time-out once again did the trick for the home side, in the form of Nair’s dismissal.

Nair, after facing 15 balls and helping the ball to the boundary on five occasions and once over it, lofted a slower delivery from Australian James Faulkner only for Dwayne Smith to take a reverse-cupped catch at cover.

Jadeja then made his presence felt, effecting two quick run-outs, first of West Indian Samuels and then New Zealander Anderson to make things worse for the visitors.

Tottering at 105/5, medium pacer Dhawal Kulkarni added to Delhi’s frustration with the wicket of Carlos Bratwaite (11), who got a top edge for the bowler to take a simple catch at cover.

It was after Iyer and Cummins came together to milk 29 runs off 10 balls when Delhi could smell the victory. Iyer first dispatched Sangwan for two consecutive boundaries and then meted out the same treatment to Kulkarni.

Cummins too joined the party, using the long handle to good effect as the Australian raised a valuable 61-run stand for the seventh wicket with Iyer to take the visitors within sniffing distance of a win.

Cummins, in his attempt to get to the target quickly, lofted Faulkner to long-on only for Smith to take a comfortable catch. The Australian’s 13-ball knock was laced with two boundaries and a massive six off the same bowler.

With 14 needed off seven deliveries, tailender Mohammed Shami (4 not out) managed to push one to the boundary to reduce the margin before Basil Thampi in his second delivery of the final over, got one in the blockhole to blow Iyer’s middle stump.

Leg-spinner Amit Mishra (8 not out) then whacked two consecutive fours to seal the deal in favour of Delhi.

Earlier, Australian Aaron Finch’s flashy 39-ball 69, laced with six fours and four sixes helped Gujarat Lions recover from the early jolts and post a mammoth 195/5.

Finch’s 92-run fourth wicket stand with wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik (40) helped the Lions recover after losing the early wickets of opener Smith (8), Raina (6) and Ishan Kishan (34).

Put in to bat, Gujarat found themselves reeling at 56/3 before Karthik and Finch began the recovery sensibly, taking the odd singles and helping the bad balls to the boundary as the run rate dropped a bit midway into the innings.

Delhi found it tough to break the partnership with both the right-handers stepping up the gas to race to 148/3 by the 16th over, before West Indian Brathwaite managed to pack the Tamil Nadu-born stumper, who had faced 28 balls by then and struck four fours and a six.

Thereafter, Finch, who by now had reached his 50 off 32 balls, struck a few blows to add 32 runs for the fifth wicket with Ravindra Jadeja (13 not out) before Shami’s full delivery blew the Australian’s middle stump.

Towards the end, Faulkner (14 not out) and Jadeja added 15 runs as the home side milked 61 runs off the final five overs.

Brief Scores: Gujarat Lions 195/5 (Aaron Finch 69, Dinesh Karthik 40, Ishan Kishan 34, Amit Mishra 1/27) lose to Delhi Daredevils 197/8 (Shreyas Iyer 96, Karun Nair 30, Pat Cummins 24, James Faulkner 2/39) by 2 wickets.

Outrage in Kerala as SBI levies charges on ATM withdrawals

May 11, 2017 by Nasheman

atm

Thiruvananthapuram: A public outcry erupted in Kerala after the State Bank of India (SBI) announced that charges would be levied on all cash withdrawals from its ATMs from June onward.

The bank’s new order states that every time a SBI customer withdraws cash from an ATM a charge of Rs 25 would be levied and charges would also be levied for exchange of old and sullied notes above Rs 5,000.

“This is outrageous and the central government is cheating the people. Ever since the demonetisation began, the Centre has been bullying people. This is going to be taken up in and out of parliament very strongly,” said CPI-M Lok Sabha member M.B. Rajesh.

Popular film personality Shobi Thilakan called it an “anti-people policy of the Centre”.

“The SBI has turned out to be worse than the local money lenders and is out to fleece the common man. There has to be a public outcry against this new policy,” said Thilakan.

Customers spotted in front of an SBI ATM here also expressed anger.

“The Centre has cheated people and it has to be seen from the perspective that they did this very tactfully because Kerala’s own bank (State Bank of Travancore) has been merged with the SBI. The people who banked with SBT have now become SBI customers and now they are at the receiving end,” said a retired teacher, after withdrawing money from the ATM.

Another angry SBI customer from Kottayam said barring the lone Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator in the 141 member Kerala assembly, all others strongly opposed the merger and passed a resolution to this effect.

“This was bound to happen and these are measures to pick the pockets poor people. We wish to know what the state BJP leaders have to say on this. There should be mass protest in Kerala against the SBI,” said the angry SBI account holder.

Of the 880 SBT branches in Kerala, more than 400 were closed and at present there are over 800 SBI branches in the state.

State General Secretary Vidya Sagar Sonkar said the action was taken following a probe by the disciplinary committee of the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The expelled leaders and workers had either contested against the BJP candidates in assembly elections or backed the opposition, he added.

The expulsion was cleared by state President Keshav Prasad Maurya.

Prominent among those sacked are Kapil Dev Kori (Rampur), V.K. Saini (Moradabad), Inderdev Singh (Bijnore), Shanti Swaroop Sharma (Bulandshahr), Chandra Shekhar Rawat (Hathras), Ashish Vashishtha (Baghpat) and Pratibha Singh, Mahesh Narayan Tiwari, Nirmal Srivastava, Vaibhav Pandey and Vidyabhushan Dwivedi from Gonda.

Triple talaq hearing: SC says won’t deliberate on polygamy issue

May 11, 2017 by Nasheman

Supreme Court

New Delhi: A five-judge Constitution bench of Supreme Court on Thursday commenced hearing on a plea that the triple talaq and nikah halala violated Muslim women’s rights to equality and dignity.

As the hearing began, the SC cleared that it would examine whether the practice of triple talaq among Muslims is fundamental to their religion.

“We will also examine whether triple talaq is part of the enforceable fundamental right,” added the SC.

The Constitution bench comprising Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar, Justice Kurian Joseph, Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman, Justice Uday Umesh Lalit and Justice S Abdul Nazeer are likely to hear the matter for seven days. Interestingly, the members of the bench are from different religious communities including Sikh, Christian, Parsee, Hindu, and Muslim.

The SC, however, said the issue of the practice of polygamy among Muslims may not be part of its deliberations as this aspect is not related to triple talaq.

The apex court made it clear that each side will get two days each for canvassing their arguments on the two questions formulated by the bench and one day will be given for the rebuttal.

The apex court also made it clear that it would stop any counsel who will repeat the arguments.

“Each side can argue whatever they want but there should not be any repetition. They will only focus on the validity of triple talaq,” the bench said.

The hearing holds importance as the Allahabad High Court, in its verdict pronounced in the last week of April, had held the practice of triple talaq as unilateral and bad in law.

The High Court verdict had come while dismissing a petition filed by one Aaqil Jamil whose wife had filed a criminal complaint against him alleging that he had tortured her for dowry and when his demands were not met, he gave her triple talaq.

The copy of High Court verdict was made available only on Tuesday.

Influential Muslim organisations like the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) have opposed court’s adjudication of these matters, maintaining these practices stemmed from the Holy Quran and were not justiciable.

The Muslim women who have filed the petitions have challenged the practice of triple talaq in which the husband, quite often, pronounces talaq thrice in one go, sometimes even by phone or text message.

On other hand, nikah halala is a practice intended to curb the incidence of divorce under which a man cannot remarry his former wife without her having to go through the process of marrying someone else, consummating it, getting divorced, observing the separation period called ‘Iddat’ and then coming back to him again.

On March 27, the AIMPLB had told the apex court that pleas challenging such practices among Muslims were not maintainable as the issues fell outside the realm of judiciary.

The Board had also said the validity of the Mohammedan Law, founded essentially in the Holy Quran and sources based on it, cannot be tested on the particular provisions of the Constitution.

It had said there was a need for “judicial restraint” before going into the constitutional interpretation of these unless such an exercise becomes unavoidable.

The Ministry of Law and Justice, in its affidavit, had referred to constitutional principles like gender equality, secularism, international covenants, religious practices and marital law prevalent in various Islamic countries to drive home the point that the practice of triple talaq and polygamy needed to be adjudicated upon afresh by the apex court.
The Centre had on October 7 last opposed in the Supreme Court the practice of triple talaq, nikah halala, and polygamy among Muslims and favoured a relook on grounds like gender equality and secularism.

Rajasthan: Wall of marriage hall collapses in Bharatpur, 24 dead; owner booked

May 11, 2017 by Nasheman

Rajasthan

Jaipur: In a tragic incident, 24 people, including four children, were killed and 30 injured when a wall of a marriage hall collapsed during a heavy storm in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan on Wednesday night.

The dead included eight women and four children, officials said.

While 22 people died instantly when the wall near which they had taken shelter collapsed due to a thunderstorm, two others died later in the night, police and district officials said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed pain at the loss of lives in the incident and announced Rs 2 lakh each to the kin of the deceased. The PM also announced Rs 50,000 for those seriously injured.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje is likely to visit Bharatpur.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Anil Tank said the marriage homeowner was today booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

He said a survey of all the marriage homes and gardens in Bharatpur will be conducted to review safety and security measures.

District Magistrate NK Gupta said that the incident, which occurred in Annapurna Marriage Home located on Sewar road, was triggered due to a thunderstorm and rainfall in the district.

A marriage function was going on in the hall when the storm hit the area, police said.

People took shelter under a shed attached to a wall which collapsed suddenly, Inspector General of Police Alok Vashishtha told PTI.

He said the entire structure of the wall and the shed collapsed and they got trapped.

Superintendent of Police Anil Tank said the wall was nearly 90-feet long and 12-13 feet in height.

Several food stalls were set up adjoining the wall. A tin shed was also attached to a portion of the wall.

“The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals immediately and treatment was administered. One injured has been referred to SMS Hospital in Jaipur,’ he said.

The weather suddenly changed and heavy winds started blowing last night which led to the incident at Sewar Road.

The bodies have been shifted to a mortuary and post-mortem will be conducted today, police sources said.

Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje condoled the deaths and gave necessary instructions to officers concerned for proper treatment of the injured.

Jamiat’s Mahmood Madani group meets Narendra Modi

May 10, 2017 by Nasheman

Mahmood Madani

New Delhi: A delegation of Jamiat Ulama-e Hind (Mahmood Madani group) met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi today at the Prime Minister’s official residence. The large delegation included some persons from outside Jamiat also like Prof. Akhtarul Wasey (VC, Maulana Azad University, Jodhpur), Dr. Zahir I. Kazi (President of Anjuman-i-Islam, Mumbai and P. A. Inamdar (Chairman, Azam Campus, Pune).

According to a press release issued by the Jamiat, the meeting lasted for about two hours. Later, talking to media, Mahmood Madani, General Secretary of his group of Jamiat, described the meeting as “satisfactory and positive”. He said, “the PM heard us passionately and agreed with our concerns.” Madani further said, “Our meeting with the PM was mainly for opening the door of mutual communication and closer understanding that would lead to further opportunities and all of us will be able to play our role in the development of our country.” Madani added that he asked the Prime Minister to create a mechanism for further dialogue between the PM and the Indian Muslim community.

This was the first such high-level meeting of leaders of the Indian Muslim community with Prime Minister Narendra Modi who came to power three years ago but was shunned until now by the Muslim community. A few days earlier Mahmood Madani group had said that it has asked for time to meet the PM. Soon after Mr. Modi’s coming to power, at least three high-level meetings were held by Muslim community leaders including one called by Maulana Mahmood Madani himself in his Masjid Abdun Nabi office in Delhi, in which it was decided unanimously that no Muslim group will meet Mr Narendra Modi who was held responsible not only for Gujarat 2002 riots, fake encounters but also for creating in the country an atmosphere of hate against the Muslim community. The leaders had decided that should a need arise to meet the PM, it should be a joint delegation that will go to meet him. Today’s delegation did not include any leader of leading Indian Muslim organizations like Muslim Majlis-e Mushawarat, Jamaat-e Islami Hind and Markazi Jamiat Ahl-e Hadees or institutions like Muslim Personal Law Board or Darul Uloom Deoband. By meeting the PM today with only a Jamiat delegation, Mahmood Madani group has broken the Muslim ranks.

Following is the full unedited text of the press release issued Jamiat Ulama-e Hind after this meeting:

New Delhi, May 09

Mr. Narendra Modi
Hon’ble Prime Minister of India
PMO, New Delhi
Delegation of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind consisting of a galaxy of religious scholars, Educationists and Social leaders led by Maulana Qari Mohammad Usman Mansurpuri, President Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind met Prime Minister Narender Modi today at his residence in New Delhi. The delegation discussed with the PM several issues including the current communal situation of the country.

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind president Maulana Qari Usman and its General secretary Maulana Mahmood Madani while speaking to the media after conclusion of the meeting that continued for about two hours, said that the meeting was satisfactory and positive. Maulana Mahmood Madani said the PM heard us passionately and agreed with our concerns. He said, PM also appreciated our stand that the divorce was internal issue of the Muslim community and the community itself should take reformative steps. Our meeting with the PM was mainly for opening the door of mutual communication and closer understanding that would lead to further opportunities and all of us will be able to play our role in the development of our country. We requested from Honorable PM to create mechanism for access to him or his appointee for continuing dialogue and closer understanding so that Muslim community is assured of its role and share in the development of our country. Maulana Madani said PM was apprehensive about growing hatred in the name of cow protection and he assured us that he would not let this trend prosper.

On this occasion, the delegation submitted a memorandum which text is hereunder.

To the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India

We are very grateful to you that you granted this opportunity to the delegation of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind consisting of a galaxy of religious scholars, Educationists and Social leaders led by Maulana Qari Mohammad Usman Mansurpuri, President Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind to meet their Prime Minister.

The basic objective of the meeting is to establish closer interaction between the Government and the Muslim Community on issues of larger national interest which has been highlighted by the Honorable Prime Minister himself through the slogans like “Sab ka Sath Sab ka Vikas and Meri Sarkar Sabki Sarkar’’. We are of the opinion that most important national issues can be solved through mutual dialogue.

Supremacy of Rule of Law is must for the security, integrity and development of our country. No one is above the law. It must be administered with total impartiality and equality. Your recent reprimand to private groups taking law in their hands and launching murderous attacks for salvaging cows has sent the correct message but much has to be done by law enforcing agencies and the state administration. The recent incidents of manslaughter on the pretext of cow slaughter have sent shock waves of terror and fear through Muslim, Dalit and the weakest sections of the society. We are afraid that the fear and despondence if unchecked could prove highly counterproductive.

There is no doubt that terrorism, fueled and perpetuated by enemy forces tops our agenda with reference to our national security, peace and stability. There have been attempts to communalise even this issue. We have always condemned such attempt and consistently campaigned at the national level in cooperation with all communities against terrorism as well as religious bigotry and extremism. We are happy to note that in the context of tarnishing the image of Islam and Muslim globally you made the Indian Muslim communities hold their head high by projecting Indian Muslim community’s ideology of peaceful Islam with reference to India’s tradition of Islamic Sufism and their aversion to extremist ideology. We appreciate this on your part and on our part reiterate our commitment to enable India lead counter terrorism campaign by example. However, for controlling the menace of terrorism, the law must be enforced effectively with total impartiality. Every caution should be exercised to ensure that no innocent person is victimized.

Muslim community has issues and grievances just like any other community which have to be dealt with as per the exigency but this shouldn’t undermine their aspiration to be equal stake holder. These issues should be deliberated upon and solved amicably so that none of the communities have a feeling of discrimination on the basis of religion and they feel their duty and share in the country’s development equally which tallies with identity of our beloved country.

The delegation requests the Honorable PM to create mechanism for access to him or his appointee for continuing dialogue and closer understanding so that Muslim community is assured of its role and share in the development of our country.

We once again, thank you and hope that door of mutual communication and closer understanding that has been opened today, will lead to further opportunities and all of us will be able to play our role in the development of our country.

With highest regards

Yours sincerely

Mohammad Usman Mansoorpuri
President
