Bengaluru: Amid row, photos of Jagadish Shettar, Yeddyurappa in ‘Tipu’ events go viral

October 23, 2017 by Nasheman

Bengaluru: Amid a heated debate on Tipu Sultan’s birthday celebrations, old photographs of former chief ministers and senior BJP leaders B S Yeddyurappa and Jagadish Shettar participating in programmes allegedly related to Tipu Sultan have gone viral on social media. The photo of Shettar shows him dressed as Tipu Sultan.

Former deputy chief minister R Ashoka and former Lok Sabha member D B Chandre Gowda are also seen wearing the headgear in the viral photos.

However, Shettar denied that the photo was from Tipu Jayanti celebrations. “It was from an award ceremony of the party’s minority morcha, where we were given headgears and swords,” he said.

BJP sources claimed that Yeddyurappa’s photo was taken in 2010 at an Iftar party and had nothing to do with Tipu Sultan.

Chief minister Siddaramaiah has said Shettar had written a preface to a book praising the valour of Tipu. Shettar had called Tipu a patriot in a book written by historian Sheikh Ali.

“When Yeddyurappa was in KJP (Karnataka Janata Paksha), he had celebrated Tipu Jayanti and Shobha Karandlaje had also attended the event. Now why is Yeddyurappa opposing Tipu Jayanti? They (BJP) are opposing it for political reasons,” Siddaramaiah said.

“These photographs are proof of the BJP’s double standards and hypocrisy. The BJP leaders who had earlier praised Tipu Sultan are now criticizing him for political gains,” he said.

The Siddaramaiah government has decided to celebrate Tipu Jayanti on November 10, when the BJP is planning to call a statewide protest against the ‘minority appeasement’ politics.

Many BJP leaders, including Union Minister Ananth Kumar Hegde, had refused to join the birthday celebrations of Tipu Sultan, terming him “anti-Hindu and anti-Kannada.”

BJP general secretary and MP Shobha Karandlaje said the party will launch a protest if the government goes ahead with the celebrations.

“There is no need to include the names of BJP leaders in the invitation on the pretext of following protocol. The government is spreading communal hatred by repeatedly organising Tipu Jayanti.” Shobha said.

The Siddaramaiah government has decided to celebrate Tipu Jayanti on November 10, when the BJP is planning to call a statewide protest against the ‘minority appeasement’ politics.

Rajasthan ordinance a ‘pernicious instrument’ to harass media: Editors Guild

October 23, 2017 by Nasheman

New Delhi: The Editors Guild of India has asked the Rajasthan government to “withdraw the harmful ordinance” that bars the media from reporting on accusations against public servants, judges and magistrates without its sanction.

The ordinance is a “pernicious instrument” to harass the media, the Guild said in a statement last night. “The ordinance promulgated by the state government last month was ostensibly done to protect the judiciary and the bureaucracy against false FIRs.

“But in reality it is a pernicious instrument to harass the media, hide wrongful acts by government servants and drastically curb the freedom of the press guaranteed by the Constitution of India,” it said.

The Rajasthan government had last month promulgated The Criminal Laws (Rajasthan Amendment) Ordinance, 2017, that seeks to protect serving and former judges, magistrates and public servants in the state from being investigated for on-duty action, without its prior sanction.

It bars the media from reporting on such accusations till the sanction to proceed with the probe is given by the government.

Rather than taking stern measures to prevent and punish those who indulge in frivolous or false litigations, the Rajasthan government has passed an ordinance that is bent on “bludgeoning the messenger”, the Guild said.

While the Guild has always stood for fair, balanced and responsible reporting of FIRs filed in courts of law, it believes that the remedy being employed by the government is “draconian” and gives it “untrammelled power” to even imprison journalists for reporting matters of public interest.

“The Guild requests the Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje to withdraw the harmful ordinance and prevent any Act from being passed that would endanger the freedom of the press,” it said.

Andhra: Drunk man rapes woman in broad daylight, no one helps

October 23, 2017 by Nasheman

Visakhapatnam: A 28-year-old woman was raped by a man, who was allegedly drunk, on the footpath of Vishakhapatnam in broad daylight on Sunday. The passers-by did not come to the aide of the woman, instead, an autorickshaw driver recorded the crime on his mobile phone.

The accused was identified as 23-year-old Ganji Siva, a truck driver, according to The Indian Express. Police arrested him on Sunday night after the autorickshaw driver gave them the video of the incident.

The incident took place between Railway New Colony and Railway Station at 2 pm. The woman was sitting under a tree when Siva sexually assaulted her. She has been admitted to King George Hospital, police said.

Siva made threatening gestures at passers-by, which discouraged them from helping the woman, police said.

“The woman had left her home in Vepagunta near Pendurthi on the outskirts of Vizag after a tiff with her husband and had arrived in Vizag on a bus early Sunday. She took shelter under a tree on the pavement when Siva assaulted her. He is an alcoholic and drug addict,” Inspector Ramana told the IE.

“The video shows several people passing by but no one stopped to help the woman. Her husband is a labourer and they fought Sunday morning after which she left home and took shelter on the pavement. She has been admitted to KGH,” he added.

Pakistani anti-corruption court indicts Sharif

October 19, 2017 by Nasheman

by Al Jazeera

Pakistan’s former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has been indicted on corruption charges stemming from leaked documents known as the Panama Papers.

A Pakistani anti-corruption court on Thursday indicted Sharif and his daughter over allegations linked to ownership of London properties, pressing charges over accusations that could see the former leader jailed.

Sharif, 67, resigned in July after the Supreme Court disqualified him from holding office over an undeclared source of income, but the veteran leader maintains his grip on the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party.

Sharif, his daughter Maryam, as well as her husband Muhammad Safdar, were all indicted by a court of the anti-corruption agency, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

They all pleaded not guilty. Maryam and Safdar were present in court, but Sharif sent a representative while he tends to his ailing wife in Britain as she undergoes cancer treatment.

Maryam Sharif again denied the allegations as “baseless” after exiting the courtroom. She said her father would return to Pakistan and they would “face these cases with courage”.

The former prime minister is unlikely to be arrested on his return home as the court has already granted bail.

Rana Sanaullah, a senior leader of his party, said “we knew justice would not be done”. Sanaullah added there were “hidden hands” behind Sharif’s dismissal and the spate of corruption allegations, without elaborating.

Sharif’s disqualification stemmed from the Panama Papers leaks in 2016 that appeared to show his daughter and two sons owned offshore holding companies registered in the British Virgin Islands and used them to buy posh flats in London.

The Supreme Court initially declined to dismiss Sharif but ordered an investigation into his family’s wealth. After the probe, it disqualified him and ordered the NAB to investigate and conduct a trial.

A separate Supreme Court-appointed panel said the family’s wealth did not match its income and accused Maryam and her brothers of signing forged documents to obscure ownership of offshore companies used to buy the London flats.

The NAB has in the past been described as toothless because of its low conviction rates, especially when it comes to powerful politicians, and investigations that last many years.

But the Supreme Court has ordered the trial to be concluded within six months. Opening arguments begin on October 26.

Bengaluru: Actor Prakash Raj joins protest against GST on handmade products

October 19, 2017 by Nasheman

Bengaluru: Noted film actor Prakash Raj today joined the protest being staged by theatre personality Prasanna against the imposition of GST on handmade products.

Prasanna is on indefinite hunger strike for the last five days demanding total waiver of GST on handmade products, saying it would cause the collapse of the rural economy.

Raj, who spoke to a private news channel from the stage said, “It is unfair to impose GST on the products prepared by a tribe, which lives in forest. He pays GST equal to a multinational company. You are not only economically burdening them but also disturbing the social fabric”, he said.

“You are breaking them morally and rendering them jobless. This is by a government which said ‘Make in India’ and promised creating jobs,” said Raj expressing solidarity with Prasanna’s demand.

“When you see people are suffering because of GST, then it is time to change,” said Raj.

Raj has been vocal against Prime Minister Narendra Modi ever since the murder of noted journalist Gauri Lankesh, who was his family friend. He had flayed Modi for his silence on this issue.

My Movie Kutumb Will Take The Viewers Down The Memory Lanes Of Yesteryears Rajshree Movies: Amit Shri Yadav

October 19, 2017 by Shaheen Raaj

To start off with, Bollywood’s youngest writer & director Amit Shri Yadav avers, “My upcoming film Kutumb is a family oriented social movie which will certainly refresh the viewer’s memory of the yesteryears Rajshree Movies and definitely take them down the nostalgic memory lanes. It will 100% remind the audiences of the family values, love and even life’s each & every emotions including the smallest & the tiniest ingredients of culture. As everyone knows that Rajshree Movies no doubt represented all the above mentioned qualities and much more.”  Incidentally speaking Amit Shri Yadav has not only directed Kutumb but has also penned the story of this beautiful & the entertainingly refreshing story of Kutumb.

Basically speaking Amit Shri Yadav hails from a small Kelta village situated in the district of Aliganj which in turn is located in the Eata Janpad which happens to be a part of Uttar Pradesh. Amit Shri Yadav further avers, “To make life much better & much more fulfilling a family (Kutumb) obviously requires true & undying love. A true & good family is one which showcases its refined culture & love for one & all. A family is incomplete without all these qualities. One should always be with one’s family and that too with complete togetherness and forever be a part of all the happy as well as the sad occasions. So my upcoming movie Kutumb is based on all the happy & the sad, the ups & the downs, the highs & the lows and above all the trials & the tribulations which befalls in every family that too time & again. And Kutumb is all set to light up the darkened aisles of the darkened celluloid silver screen on 3rd Nov, 2017. So mark your cine viewing calendar for this day to see Kutmb with your entire family.”

A point to be noted at this juncture is that since he was that high Amit Shri Yadav had been committed albeit totally & completely dedicated to his extreme love for all forms of art. Besides it is also noteworthy that Amit Shri Yadav was born in a simple farmer & head of the family Shri. Anar Singh Yadav’s family. Amit Shri Yadav is the 3rd child amongst the 4 sons. Amit Shri Yadav completed his schooling in Aliganj and also happens to be a degree holder from Allahabad University.  Later on Amit Shri Yadav joined the Theater and continued to act & direct plays for almost a decade thereby also picking up & deeply understanding all the intricacies of acting as well as direction. By the way Amit Shri Yadav began his initial directorial innings as an assistant director with movies like Omkara & Aata Pata Laapata.

Amit Shri Yadav is now all set to make his independent directorial debut with his 1st ever movie namely Kutumb especially made for his prospective Cine Fans. In the upcoming movie Kutumb comedian Rajpal Yadav enacts the pivotal role. Kutumb also stars Rajpal Yadav’s younger brother Indrapal along with other debutante actors. The title song of the movie Kutumb has been interestingly & beautifully composed by music composer Aryan Jaiin & soulfully rendered by none other than the erstwhile singer Kumar Sanu which has already become quite popular. After quite a long gap music lovers are getting a golden chance to listen to the melodious & the meliflous songs of Kutumb which indeed refreshes the 90’s era of golden & unforgettable sound tracks. And no doubt that Kutumb is totally & entirely based on the background of the sweet as well as the bitter occurrences in each & every family’s life.

In conclusion Amit Shri Yadav finally opines, “Every person’s happiness in life is dependent on the golden rays which is born out of our own near & dear ones which are the creations of our own family’s cultures. All the successes of one’s life is incomplete without the presence of our near & dear ones. And it is only our near & dear ones which creates our very own family, our very own Kutumb.

Why This “Kolaveri-Kolaveri” on Taj Mahal? by Umar Shariff

October 19, 2017 by Nasheman

by Umar Shariff

Recent media flashings are echoing with comments of hatred against the Moghuls and their contributions by the likes of Adityanath Yogi (chief minister of Uttar Pradesh) and Sangeet Som (a political leader of the BJP). Even a common layman can understand the motives behind such comments; nothing other than playing hate politics dividing communities to magnify their own vote banks. But hey, this is not 1992 or 2002 (the years of demolition of the Babri Masjid & Gujarat riots). Things have changed a lot since then. People now have access to unadulterated news; despite the aura of so many charismatic liars on television primetime shows. People today want solutions to their practical problems such as poor city infrastructure, deteriorating education system, malfunctioning health services and not to forget – a dwindling economy due to demonetisation of currencies and demonization of the entire Indian economy through GST and Hitlerian policies.

Yogi has removed Taj Mahal from the list of tourist destinations in Uttar Pradesh, and Som has acclaimed that it was built by the traitors. These politicians merely want to make headlines through such disparaging statements that cause detrimental outcomes to the general masses. They throw in such topics to be debated, so that the real topics of debate such as infrastructure, healthcare, quality education and waning economy are forgotten. For your kind information, these politicians have no genuine concern for the masses in general. Sangeet Som and Yogi Adityanath have blood on their hands. The infamous politician Sageet Som was in the news back then for causing riots in Muzaffarnagar. And he was also in news for running slaughter houses where cattle were slaughtered and the beef being exported. Yogi Adityanath has criminal cases registered against him in the past, and has the curse of the poor people of Uttar Pradesh, whose children have died in great numbers due to negligence shown by his government hospitals. Hence, their similitude is like that of the naughty bullies of a school who want to become famous by causing havoc on the premises. Consequently, they are not to be taken too seriously; however, we must analyse the subject at hand in depth.

Taj Mahal is one of the seven wonders of the world, and a declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The city of Agra finds an augmented place on the world map due to this glorious monument, which was built by the then Moghul ruler Shah Jahan. India as we see today was not the same within the borders set by our leaders at the time India got Independence from the British Raj. The vicinity of India covered much more area than what we have with us today, which included parts of today’s Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Burma and other neighbouring lands that we see beyond the Indian borders of today. Indians were even known to have ruled lands of today’s Iran and the areas between. Hence if one were to understand the identity of India based on the ancient civilizations, the laws and customs during the times of the last few millenia were different from what we see today.

In ancient world, the kings conquered lands to establish their political supremacy, and they ruled their lands to improve the quality and prosperity of their subjects. There was no concept of Indian nationalism or an integrated India then. Hence, when the Wodeyars were ruling in the South India then, they were not concerned with the rule of the Marathas in the areas of Maharashtra. They didn’t have a federal system that governed all the provinces and kingdoms ruled by the kings of the Indian soil. Most of the states within the Indian precinct were involved in conquering and defending their territories from each other; although they were people from the same Indian subcontinent of the present India. Hence, the Cholas, Cheras, Pallavas and all such kingdoms of the past used to fight amongst themselves to expand their territories with the sole purpose of ruling a bigger chunk of land. Even the Mauryan Dynasty that eliminated the Nanda Dynasty is part of the same history. King Ashoka, who is highly respected by the Indians today, is held by history as a person who had killed one lakh Hindus in Kalinga, and later taken one lakh Hindus as captives of war. Was Ashoka not a traitor in the essence of this definition to have killed so many Indians? Probably not, because we see Ashoka as an Indian contributing some very positive things to the spirit of India after the battle of Kalinga.

The valor and appreciation that we associate with Ashoka today is evident from the fact that we have Ashoka Chakra as part of our national flag. Going by this convention, labeling Moghuls as traitors is both illogical and hypocrisy; because on the one hand we pay utmost respect to the national flag that contains the Ashok Chakra, and on the other hand, we hoist the national flag on Red Fort, which was built by Moghuls. If denouncing Moghuls and their legacy is logical because of the perceived belief that they killed Hindus, isn’t patronizing Ashoka and his legacy, who did the same, hypocrisy? Hence, history must not be evaluated based on today’s operative systems; but must be understood based on geo-political systems of the ancient world.

Back then in the past world of the ancient India, the kings were not essentially communal as being portrayed by the likes of Yogi & Som. Let me share certain glimpses of some ground shaking facts:

Akbar, the grandson of Babur, was a Moghul king who had Raja Mansen as his army commander in Chief. Raja Mansen was a Hindu who stood against Rana Pratap Singh’s army. Akbar’s council consisted members such as Birbal, Todarmal and other Hindu advisors who supported the Muslim king Akbar.

Tipu Sultan, popularly known as the Tiger of Mysore, was a Muslim who had Hindus as his advisors and army men. Pandit Poorniah was given the high post of “Mir Asaf” in his kingdom. He even had the kingdom’s treasury under the custody of Krishna Rao, who happened to be a Hindu. Tipu Sultan had close ties with even the French Army. Nepolean Bonaparte was a close friend of Tipu Sultan. By the way, Napoleon was a Christian.

Even Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who was a Maratha ruler, had Muslim generals in this cavalry and infantry. He also had Muslim men serving on other posts in his kingdom. Shivaji was even a good friend of the Nizam of Hyderabad, and the dual jointly attacked Tipu Sultan. In retrospect, Nizam was a Muslim who joined hands with the Hindu Peshwas and attacked another Muslim king, Tipu Sultan.

Aurangzeb and Adil Shah were contemporaries, but were rivals to each other. Emperor Aurangzeb had Hindu Rajputs serving in his army, even while fighting the Hindu Marathas. So, this was a glimpse of the ancient India. The kings back then ruled their lands, made treaties with other kings who preferred peace and were not seen as a threat to their respective kingdoms, and fought those who didn’t seem favourable for their kingdom’s safety and security. To reiterate, during those days, the land of today’s India was ruled by hundreds of independent kingdoms.

Let’s reminisce another important datum of history that can never be erased by the ones like Yogi and Som. In 1857, during the Sepoy Mutiny, the Hindus and Muslims together joined hands and rebelled against the British East India Company; both the Hindus and the Muslims had accepted Bahadur Shah Zafar as their leader to accede power after ousting the British. Now this says it all; the fact that the Hindus and the Muslims chose the last Muslim Mughal King Bahadur Shah Zafar as their leader distinctly proves that Moghuls were not communal in their approach, nor a threat to the survival of a secular society.

For those who are averse to Moghuls, here is another powerful information of truth. The Moghuls were aboriginally Mongols. They were the descendants of a non-Muslim Mongolian ancestor group that had invaded the Muslim lands of Baghdad in the 1200s, plundered the Muslims and pillaged their cities. The Mongols under the leadership of Chengis Khan had destroyed the Abbasid Caliphate (with its capital at Baghdad) of the Muslims. After destroying them, the Mongols learnt the religion of the Baghdad people, and many of them embraced Islam. It is one of the rarest incidents in world history where the vanquishers of a nation adopted the religion of the conquered nation. That’s probably the only unexpected turn that has impacted our perception of the Moghuls today. These non-Muslim Mongolians worshipped nature and many among them had adopted to various twisted philosophies. When a section of these people became Muslims, they entered Panipat under the identity of Moghuls. Eventually, the ones who had once plundered the Muslim nations came to India and built a Muslim nation. That’s the plan of the One Who controls all events of this world – the plan of God Almighty.

Coming to the issue of Taj Mahal and Shah Jahan, I do not say that Shah Jahan was an angel. Like any other ruler who has a good and a flip side, he too had his share of shortcomings. He too is guilty of making some historical blunders that must be paid off in future. In my opinion, the construction of the Taj Mahal in the memory of his dead wife Mumtaz was a national waste. Instead, he could have built universities and educational institutions in his wife’s memory, which could have elevated the status of his people. People who visit Agra very well know and revel in the abyssal contrast between Taj Mahal’s grandeur and the city’s slums and dirty roads devoid of any respect to traffic regulations. I would blame the Moghuls to have taken a backseat when it came to develop the nation through education and social upliftment. They were neither concerned nor spent enough time and resources in research and development, which ultimately served as cakewalk for the British to conquer them through their enhanced knowledge of science and technology.

Well, history is to be read with a positive approach and correct perspective to it. We must benefit from the good events, and denounce the evil deeds irrespective of who the doer was. These historical misdeeds must not be made a scapegoat to take revenge with the ones connected to a group or clan. Let me conclude with an example: if you come across a tree that was planted by a sinner of the past, it is neither practical nor logical to cut the tree that he had planted. What is logical and practical is to benefit from the tree. That is Dharma. The Hindus, Muslims and Christians have contributed equally for the development of this land. If we were to remove all the rails and the railway routes designed and constructed by the British simply because we hate the British oppression, we will not be punishing the British by our actions; but will be punishing ourselves by our foolishness. So, leave the Taj Mahal alone; for it gives us Rs 25 crore income annually (and Indian needs every pie of it after demonetization!). To end on a positive note, let’s hope that the Hindu-Muslim divisive politics do not work in India anymore, God-Willing. The people of India wish to see the politicians perform. If they perform well, they will be retained; or else trashed by their own people for good.

Suddenly, we find Rahul Gandhi has grown up and the credit goes to PM Modi

October 18, 2017 by Nasheman

by Shubham Ghosh

Has Rahul Gandhi suddenly come of age? The way the Congress vice president has been launching scathing yet calculated attacks on the Narendra Modi government over the last few months, one is wondering what made the former sound so much mature and sensible? Till now, Rahul Gandhi has mostly been treated as a caricature. But his recent takes – in the US and in India – have started conveying a different message to the saffron camp. And the way the saffron leaders have retaliated against Rahul in his own constituency Amethi, it is certainly clear that the Modis and Amit Shahs are not taking the ‘lightweight’ Gandhi lightly anymore.

Politics, we all know, is a domain of unpredictability but does that sufficiently explain the change we perceive about Rahul Gandhi at the moment? It is not that the man has undergone a qualitative change in these few months. Rather, it is the slide of the ruling party which has given him an opening, a much-needed one. Rahul Gandhi, like the tortoise in that legendary race, is taking full advantage of the lapse which Modi’s BJP has seen because of over confidence.

The Congress vice president’s “Modi will bring moon on earth in 2030” was by far the best attack he has launched on the prime minister’s superman image till date. Till the 2014 Lok Sabha election and after, the utter failure of the UPA II government coupled with the execution of a grand propaganda machinery had put Modi beyond everybody else’s reach. Rahul Gandhi had to fight an iron wall at that time and he was destined to lose it badly. His oratory skills came under question as was his political acumen but the real reason why he looked a distant second to Modi is that he and his party had no answer to the BJP’s grand plan and propaganda then.

But just as every over-confident soul scripts his/her own downfall, the Modi establishment went for demonetisation and after all the debates and discussions, Mr Economics gave the verdict that it was nothing short of a disaster. But the Modi regime was in no mood to acknowledge a failure and it went ahead with the Goods and Services Tax, doubling the blow for the lesser players in the economy. And when one adds factors like Gujarati business community’s dissidence against GST, the outburst of former Union finance minister Yashwant Sinha over the economic slowdown and the manifold jump in the fortunes of Amit Sah’s businessman son Jay, the fragile stage on which Rahul Gandhi was speaking so far found itself cemented. And the 47-year-old leader is in no mood to squander the rare opportunity he has got. Modi still is the No.1 leader in the country no doubt but he doesn’t have a clear maidan to score goals now.

If demonetisation has put Modi’s economic acumen under the lens and cow vigilantism and minority bashing his claims to an inclusive leader, the Jay Shah episode wouldcast a shadow over the BJP’s anti-corruption and anti-dynasty claims.Development, transparency and inclusive democracy have been the resurgent BJP’s claims before and during the last general elections. All these key pillars seem to have received massive blows, in less than three-and-half years since the NDA took over.
In 2014, the strong anti-incumbency against the UPA II coupled with Rahul Gandhi’s flawed political strategies had helped Modi. But three years after that debacle, when Modi himself is getting burdened with the same anti-incumbency despite putting every effort to run the show smoothly and the prime minister’s super image is found trying to deliver as per the massive expectations he had created before taking over, the Congress is looking like the alternative, despite its own predicaments. The situation resembles that of 2004 when Sonia Gandhi had brought the grand old party back to power from nowhere and a popular prime minister in Atal Behari Vajpayee faced a shocking loss.

Rahul Gandhi and his party have done not anything exemplary to show that they are an alternative to Modi at the moment. They are just playing on the same-side goals that the overconfident rulers of the day has scored and to build on this opening that they have got, the Congress has to produce a good performance in Gujarat. A routine annihilation there would throw it back into the dustbin of history while a decent show in Modi’s hometown could be a game changer ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections.
Indian politics is at an interesting juncture at the moment. Though Modi has won the game one-sidedly so far, he is now entering the most critical part of his tenure and with a series of events unfolding over the last one year, the man has to produce real changes on the ground, especially in the economy, to ensure he gets another term in office. Modi’s disadvantage is that he has hurt the economy and to undo it, the BJP-led NDA needs more than glossy propaganda. On the other hand, the Congress has a good advantage since economic slowdown is always a potent weapon for the Opposition to corner the ruler. The BJP has not really dumped the economic policies of the Congress-led government and this boosts the Congress’s confidence all the more to launch a scathing attack on Modi’s economic policies that have failed to impress the experts.
For Rahul Gandhi who many believe is closest to assuming the Congress’s presidency, the next set of elections is key. For Modi who has had major electoral successes since 2014, the stakes are higher in the economic sector now. It will be interesting to see who cracks it first and puts the opponent under a serious challenge.
