Yeddyurappa urges former minister Hartalu Halappa to remain in BJP

April 3, 2018 by Nasheman

With reports rife about former BJP minister Hartalu Halappa’s plans of hopping over to Congress, BJP Karnataka state president B S Yeddyurappa held mediation with Halappa, who is angry at the fact that the party is not in favour of issuing him ticket for the Assembly election this time.

During the conciliation talks between the two, Yeddyurappa felt that he had succeeded in convincing Halappa not to desert the party. However, Halappa himself remained tight-lipped about the outcome of the effort.

The meeting between the two leaders was brokered by BJP MP, Shobha Karandlaje.

It is said that Yeddyurappa explained to Halappa, who has been demanding party ticket from Sagar constituency, about the current conditions in this constituency, and vote calculations. He also told Halappa that as per the internal survey conducted by the party, Halappa does not have a bright chance of winning. Yeddyurappa also requested Halappa to work for the party in spite of who is fielded by the party, and assured him of a bright future in the party.

Halappa was reminded that the party had stood by him firmly during the critical period of his life and that if he crosses over to some other party now, voters will form a wrong opinion about him. Yeddyurappa told him that politically also this move might backfire. Halappa however, remained non-committal and returned after saying that he would work for the party. Based on this reaction, BJP camp feels that there are bright chances of him remaining with the party.

Halappa said that he was happy with the discussion he had with Yeddyurappa, and that he will give his reaction after Yeddyurappa speaks about it. He also refused to speak anything about the ticket for the Assembly election.

Mumbai Constable Molests Senior Officer’s Teen Son, Arrested

April 3, 2018 by Nasheman

The constable, working with Kalbadevi traffic division, has been booked under POCSO Act and remanded to police custody

The Mulund police arrested a 50-year-old constable working with the Kalbadevi traffic division on Sunday for allegedly molesting the 15-year-old son of an assistant sub-inspector attached with the Thane police. Officers said the incident happened on March 31, when the constable, Pramod Thombre, reached his third-floor residence in a Mulund building and sent a girl to the ground-floor residence of the boy, who was alone at home then, asking him to come up to his house.

When the Std X student arrived at Thombre’s house, the constable struck up a normal conversation with him, asking him about his exams and what he planned to do when he grew up. When the teenager told him he wanted to join the Indian Navy, Thombre told the boy that clearing the medical exam for Navy was tough and he (Thombre) could give him tips.

The constable then asked the boy to remove his clothes and touched him inappropriately. Frightened, the boy told the accused that he had not locked his house before coming up and ran away. He later told his mother about the incident, who called up her husband, and an FIR was registered at the Mulund police station under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Thombre was questioned and then put under arrest. He was produced before a city court, which sent him to two-day police custody.

Police says
Shreepad Kale, senior police inspector, Mulund police station, said, “Constable Pramod Thombre has been booked under relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act. He has been remanded to police custody.”

Spice Girl Melanie C Speaks About Her Tour In UAE With The Back Street Boys

April 2, 2018 by Shaheen Raaj

One of the Spice Girl, Melanie Smith gives her candid opinion on music, fashion and moreover on Spice Girls rumors ahead of her performance at Dubai’s Blended Music Festival, and even the so – called Spice Girls reunion which has been confusing to say the least, but at least the Dubai’s Spice fans have something to be happy about, as Melanie C is heading to United Arab Emirates (UAE) later this month! The Sporty Spice Girl will be performing at the Blended Music Festival on 20th Apr, 2018 alongside the Backstreet Boys. A Spice Girl and the Backstreet Boys in one night? Simply Unbelievable yet true! Here in this candid interview ahead of the show Melanie C, tells what to expect from her performance, what she thinks of UAE, her new venture as a DJ, and what’s really going on with the Spice Girls reunion.

On Her Performance At The Forthcoming Blended Music Festival In Dubai

We’ve got a 45 minute timeslot for the Dubai show, which is nice, because we can do a really punchy set, we can get loads of hits in there. I’ve had a long career and made loads of records, so there’s lots of songs I want to play, even spanning back to the mid – 90’s. We have a really fun set we would like to do for shows like this. We’ll probably do something similar that we do for the festivals in UK.

On Her Throwing Some Spice Girls Hits Of The 90’s Phase In The Blended Music Festival
That sounds about right! We’re going into rehearsals soon, and we’ve been talking over some songs we think could work really well, so we’ll throw together a really fun show for everyone.

On Her Performing On The Same Bill As The Backstreet Boys

It has been a long time since we first met the Backstreet Boys back in the 90’s. Our paths crossed a lot in Germany, because both bands were really big over there, and we spent a lot of time doing TV shows and big live performances out there. In fact, I think once we even shared a dressing room! They’re really, really lovely guys and I’m looking forward to catching up with them.

On Backstreet Boys Campaigning On Social Media For A Joint Backstreet Boys And Spice Girls tour

Of course I know there are a lot of people that want to see the Spice Girls back on stage together, and it would be a wonderful thing. But it’s not something that is planned to happen in the near future.

On The Reunion Of The Spice Girls

I get asked that question, generally, every single day, since the early noughtie 90’s.

On Her Being A Style Icon And Some Of Her Older Fashion Choices?

Absolutely, I think everybody does. But the wonderful thing about fashion is that, at the time you think you look great, and then there’s this whole period of time where you’re like ‘what was I thinking?’ But then after 2 decades, it looks great again! The 90’s is having a big resurgence, so I’m like ‘I’m ahead of my time’.

On Her Most Memorable Solo Concert Ever

That’s a good one. I have been so fortunate in my solo career. I’ve even played some territories that the Spice Girls never got to. Even Dubai! I’ve made it down to Australia. I was in Brazil and Mexico last year, places where the Spice Girls never performed live. So it’s been nice to do things that I haven’t done with the girls.
On Her Previous Visits To Dubai And Her Experience On Seeing Some Of UAE’s Sights & Sounds. I was in Dubai many, many years ago. These trips were always quite brief. But like a lot of people in UK, we love coming back to Dubai because the weather is glorious, and you have lovely restaurants. You know you’re going to have a sophisticated time, whether it’s dining, or parting, or just generally being looked after. So as you can tell, I’m very much looking forward to getting back out there.

On Her Plans On Doing Some Sightseeing This Time Around

I hope so. The trip is a little bit longer this time. With these things, you’re always dashing off to the next thing, but I think I have an extra day. I’ll have to do a little bit of research of what’s fun to do. Maybe someone can help me out?

On Her Last Album Namely “Version Of Me” And Also Her Plans For A New Release

Yes, it’s going very well and I’m very excited. I’m working with a fantastic producer and having a lot of fun in the studio. I can’t say too much at the moment, I’m keeping my cards close to my chest. But it’s something I hope to release later this year. All I can say it’s going to be a different “Version Of Me”. As everyone knows I like to jump from one thing to the next. It’s very musical, not like a musical theater, but it has a real musicality to it. I’m working with a respected producer and I think it’ll be a nice surprise that people will enjoy.

On Her Plans Of Turning A DJ

Being a lover of music, I’ve always quite fancied it. Somebody approached me to see if I’d want to do it, and I thought, ‘you know what, I’ll give it a try’. It’s been really fun figuring out what I want to play and how I want to be as a DJ. And the era of music that’s really relevant to me, and there were so many great styles, obviously the 90’s. So I’ve been working on a 90’s set, which is great, because it kind of spans dance music, more poppy stuff right through to clubby hard – core house & Britpop. It’s been really fun getting the dynamic of the set together, so that’s what I’ve been working on. My first DJ gig is in Paris very soon. I’m nervous obviously, but if it goes well, I’ll hopefully do a lot more in the future. It’s really fun and it is also like another additional string to my musical bow.

On Her Comparison With Paris Hilton

Oh! I too can do it, I am pretty sure I will do just fine.

On Her Being Quiet On The Social Media Platforms Of Late
I had a really busy year last year, and this year I’ve been in the studio with the new album. I just wanted to take a break and give myself a little bit of a breather from the social media platforms. I sometimes find it a bit time consuming. I just wanted to step away for a little bit and come back fresh when I’m ready to start promoting my new work.

On Her Latest Rumors About The Spice Girls Reunion

It’s absolutely fine. I know people are curious, and no step of the way have we wanted to mislead the people. We have come together, and we’re back with our previous manager Simon Fuller, and we are looking at opportunities. Animation is something we’ve talked about, an animated movie, a TV shows potentially, nothing reality, and this isn’t something that’s been discussed. And then, of course, the potential of performing together at some point. All of this is super early days; it’s still very much at the discussion stage. But it’s just really nice for us all to be back together, to kind of be under one roof. The Spice Girls legacy is so important to us. We just want to be positive and continue to inspire, not only young women, but people in general.

Pre Monsoon rain show continues over the city of Bengaluru, even though it is on the lighter side. In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Bengaluru recorded traces of rainfall.

Protests turn fatal, kills 4 in MP : Bharat Bandh

April 2, 2018 by Nasheman

A nationwide shutdown called by various Dalit organizations to protest against the Supreme Court’s ruling on amendments under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989 has taken a violent turn killing four people in Madhya Pradesh.

The Supreme Court on March 20 had introduced the provision of anticipatory bail in the act while directing that there would be no automatic arrest on any complaint filed under the law.

The ruling drew flak from the Opposition parties and some of its own leaders, who said that it would make the law ineffective.

Even as violent protests were reported from across the country, the Centre on Monday filed a petition seeking review of the apex court’s order diluting the provisions of the act that protects marginalized communities against discrimination and atrocities.

Earlier in the day, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad confirmed that the government filed a comprehensive petition in the apex court which would be presented before the top court by senior lawyers. He said that the government didn’t agree with the SC’s ruling and that there was no intention of changing provision of reservation for minorities.

Meanwhile, a storm of outrage engulfed numerous parts of the country, including Bihar, Punjab, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, which even saw angry protestors taking to the destruction of private and public property to send their message of disapproval to legislature and judiciary.

Below are the updates so far:

Inspector General Law and Order Makrand Deuskar said that four people have died in protests in Gwalior and Morena in Madhya Pradesh.

19 people got injured in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior of which two are in critical condition. Internet services have also been blocked in Gwalior district till 6:00 am tomorrow.

Shots were fired during protests in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior.

Delhi Police is alert. We have adequate police deployment at places and senior officials are also present on the field. All steps will be taken to maintain law and order: Deependra Pathak, spokesperson, Delhi Police on Bharat Band

We salute brothers and sisters from the Dalit community who have hit the streets to demand protection of their rights from the Modi government, tweets Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

One can understand if people protest, but why is opposition playing politics? Parties like Congress who did not give Bharat Ratna to BR Ambedkar are now acting like his followers: Union Minister Ramvilas Paswan.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has appealed all political parties and groups to maintain peace and shun violence.

Informing that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government has filed a review petition in Supreme Court for reconsidering of the verdict on the act, he urged the protesters on Monday to refrain from imposing blockades and committing violent acts.

Talking to the media, Rajnath said, “We have filed the review petition in Supreme Court. I appeal to all political parties and groups to maintain peace and not incite violence.”

Amidst protest, the shops were being forcibly shut down by protesters in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun.

A person has been killed in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena while curfew has been imposed in parts of Gwalior and Section 144 (prohibits assembly of more than 4 people in the area) imposed in Sagar.

Protesters were thrashed by police personnel in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut for creating nuisance in the area.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also appealed the protestors not to disturb the law and order.

“The central and state governments are dedicated towards the welfare of backward castes, SC and ST. I appeal to all to not disturb the law and order. If at all there are any issues you can bring them to government’s notice,” Adityanath said.

A scuffle erupted between protesters and Police in Jharkhand’s Ranchi protesting against Supreme Court directive on SC/ST Act.

The protest turned violent in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut and Rajasthan’s Barmer. Protestors damaged cars and public property. While the effects of Bandh has also been witnessed in Delhi’s Mandi House.

In Punjab, the transport and mobile Internet services have been suspended. The educational institutions also remain closed.

The protest spreads out to Agra and Rajasthan. Agitators are seen taking to the streets over the issue.

Protestors stop a train at Forbesganj Junction in Bihar in the wake of protests over the SC/ST act. The band has been called by Dalit organizations across the country.

The effects of Bandh are visible in Bihar where protestors blocked a train and roads in Sonapur area.

The Congress Party on Monday reiterated that the Centre did not present the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Protection Act properly before the Supreme Court.

Party leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi told ANI, “Of course, a review petition (SC/ST protection act) should be filed and it’s the right of the Government, it is a legal procedure. The basic question is that why they were unable to present the case properly before SC and lost; inquiry is needed.”

The police force has been deployed in Punjab’s Amritsar to avoid unwelcome situation due to the protests called by various Dalit organizations across the country.
