Akshay Kumar & Twinkle Khanna Served With A Legal Notice

Just recently Akshay Kumar & Twinkle Khanna have been served with a legal a legal notice. 11 serving defence officers & 8 others have sent a legal notice to actors Akshay Kumar & Twinkle Khanna, accusing the Bollywood couple of “playing with the sentiment” of the armed forces by putting up for auction a naval costume from the Hindi film Rustom.

The group, which also included the wife of a Navy man & 7 retired officers, said that it was offensive that the actors had listed the costume as an “original naval uniform”.

“Uniforms resembling those of the armed forces pose a potential threat to national security as the said uniform, insignia & badges could pass off for genuine service clothing and can find their way to anti-national elements who in turn can use it to foment trouble,” the notice stated.

A copy of the notice has also been sent to the auction house Salt Scout and the office of the defence minister. The officers urged the minister to take action against the actors and to stop the auctioning of the outfit that Akshay Kumar wore in the 2016 film, a fictional account loosely based on the real-life case of Naval Officer K. M. Nanavati, charged with & then acquitted of killing his wife.

“…by putting in auction “Akshay Kumar’s Rustom Naval Officer Uniform” you have shown no respect for national interest but have also played with the sentiments of armed forces personnel and their widows including my clients, who are retired, as well as serving armed forces officials & their family members,” the notice read.

Akshay Kumar had put the outfit up for the auction on 26th Apr, 2018 in support of an NGO working for the cause of animal rescue & welfare.

“Hi, all I’m thrilled to announce that you can bid to win the actual naval officer uniform I wore in Rustom. Auction’s proceeds will support the cause of animal rescue & welfare. Place your bid at http://www.SaltScout.com,” he wrote. The bid, which will end on 26th May, 2018, currently stands Rs at 2,35,000.

It’s true that because of the unavailability of a certain make-up artiste, we had to hire another one for the movie, but it’s also true that ditching a film in the middle of it and taking up another work, is unprofessional. So I just asked him to give me in writing. It has been twisted & turned into a controversy which is really sad.
Talking about the real story, Urvashi Rautelas averred, “These things keep happening and people will say things, but that doesn’t mean it’s true and I don’t react to everything. I don’t want to put my focus & energy on anything else except my film. Even the movie I am doing because of the beautiful script though the director is making a debut with this film.”

SHEEBA & AKASHDEEP TO ACT IN A PLAY!

Sheeba, who was last seen on the TV show Haasil, has now shifted her focus to theatre. And her latest play Golmaal, holds a special place in her heart as she will be acting for the 1st time alongside her husband, producer Akashdeep. They will play spouses in the play. Sheeba says, “This is the 1st time ever I am acting with Akashdeep. Previously, I have worked with him on projects he has directed. I have always been a director’s actor & I surrender myself to his vision. Then he was the boss, but now, I am the boss… both in real life & in this play. As an actor, I disconnect from my personal equation when I am working, which is what people witness when Akashdeep & I rehearse together. They can see bits of Sheeba in my character, but never my relationship with him. I don’t like my personal & professional lives to intermingle.” Unlike many, the actress doesn’t see it as an advantage to work with her spouse. “There is no advantage at all. I can say a lot of things and have arguments with my co-actors. RAVEENA TANDON APPEALS THE GOVERNMENT TO BAN ANIMAL CIRCUSES

Animals suffering in circuses have a fresh ray of hope, with the outspoken actor Raveena Tandon now supporting their freedom. The actor has written to the Minister of Environment, Forests & Climate Change to impose a “complete & immediate end” to the use of all animals in circuses. She joins another actor Dia Mirza, who had also asked the Government to end animal circuses. In the letter, Raveena observed “I believe that it is time we dissociate cruelty from entertainment, and let these majestic creatures be where they belong. Our culture also has many traditional art forms which showcase the skill of our artists. They should be adopted by circuses to evolve into an engaging & healthy entertainment” Raveena Tandon supports the Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organisations (FIAPO), which has been campaigning for the freedom of these abused animals. Lending her support & appreciation to their work she said, “I express my support to FIAPO’s End Circus Suffering campaign, which has helped hundreds of circus animals to be freed from this cruel form of entertainment. DHANUSH TO UNVEIL INDIA POSTER OF ‘EXTRAORDINARY JOURNEY OF FAKIR’ IN CANNES

Dhanush starrer The Extraordinary Journey Of Fakir, an Indo-French production, will be showcased in Cannes this year in one of the many events on the sidelines of the festival. The India poster for the film will be unveiled by the cast & the film will be honored at the India Day celebrations at the festival on 11th May, 2018 along with Manto. The “comic adventure” directed by Ken Scott is Dhanush’s 1st ever international project and will be released in English & French. The French producer of the film is Brio Films of Luc Bossi, who has also co-written the film. The film is not an art house cinema even though it’s based on a French novella, “The Extraordinary Journey of The Fakir Who Got Trapped In An Ikea Wardrobe”, by Romain Uertolas. “While the book was in a fantastical zone, the film is an accessible fable, an entertainer and is a stellar salad of a cast from all continents, held together by Dhanush.” The film also stars Bernice Bejo, Gerard Jugnot, Erin Moriarty & Barkhad Abdi. HANSAL MEHTA & ‘OMERTA’ IN TROUBLE AGAIN

Hansal Mehta known for his socially relevant films is on the wrong side of the law now. The Supreme Court through its arbitrator Samrat Sen has attached the revenue paid to Hansal from all projects involving him in varied capacities beginning with Omerta which releases next month. Adarsh Telemedia, a film production house bankrolled by Amit Agarwal, lent a sum of over Rs 7 crore to Hansal and producer Shaailesh Singh for the film Simran when demonetization struck Bollywood along with the rest of India. Mehta had convinced the Calcutta based Adarsh Telemedia to bail the film by lending a sum against a minimum guarantee which got the film released in Sept, last year. The arbitrator,a senior legal counsel already came heavily on Mehta and his production house, ironically called Karma, when Adarsh Telemedia filed a law suit against Mehta and couple of his associates. Mehta moved on to other projects ignoring the constant reminders from Amit Agarwal and the production house got an arbitration order in their favor. As per the order, whatever Mehta earns to the tune of 7 Cr, should be deposited in a separate bank account. It is now expected that other projects like Balaji’s Mental Hai Kya? The Scam, The Accidental Prime Minister, Garbage, Bose Dead or Alive & Ronnie Screwvala, a film with director Bejoy Nambiar, a proposed Abhishek-Aishwarya Rai starrer & Soha Ali Khan’s biopic on Ram Jethmalani may fall under the radar of the recovery of Adarsh Telemedia.

SHREYAS TALPADE & WIFE HAVE A BABY GIRL THROUGH SURROGACY

Shreyas Talpade & his wife Deepti have both been blessed with a baby girl. Married for 14 years, Shreyas and his wife were advised by doctors to consider surrogacy as the best option to have a baby and they decided to consider the process of surrogacy to complete their family. Shreyas says, “The scheduled day for the baby’s delivery was around 15th or 20th of this month. We had planned a small vacation to Hong Kong on the 7th. But the doctor suggested that the day of delivery might shift to around 10th or 12th. So we decided to go by the 2nd or 3rd and return by the 7th. After we landed in Hong Kong, we got ready, and were heading to the cruise terminal since we had planned to go on a cruise. While we were on our way, we got a call from the doctor saying that the surrogate is gone into labour and that we would have to return. We immediately returned. The baby was born while we were mid-air so we headed directly to the hospital. Shreyas says, “We have shortlisted a few names but we will decide a name for our baby in a day or two.”

ESHA GUPTA CHAMPIONS THE CAUSE OF EDUCATION – ADOPTS TWO VILLAGES IN UTTAR PRADESH!

Esha Gupta has now decided to adopt 2 villages in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district to promote education. After having announced the creation of an academy that will look into the requirement of Indian footballers struggling with monetary concerns, Gupta has now taken the onus of 2 villages in the Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh. Esha confirms, “There will be logistical issues, but I will personally look into it. Everyone has the right to education. There are many children in small towns who want to study and make a meaningful career, but don’t have the required amenities. If I can help them, I will feel privileged.” The project, which marks Esha’s collaboration with Delhi based NGO, will see her provide financial support to schools for the provision of basic amenities. Esha will provide funds for the appointment of teachers in the villages. The NGO will shortlist qualified teachers, who will be deputed to the locations. While Gupta will also enable the schools in purchasing projectors, the NGO will also raise money to build better toilets and open a local library where the children can study. The project will kick-off this month. Esha will travel to Bijnor soon to look into the nitty gritties.

After a decade, Sudhanshu Pandey, has released his debut as a solo singer. OPERA HOUSE TURNS 103 YEARS WITH THE TEAM OF ‘102 NOT OUT’

Director Umesh Shukla along with the legendary duo Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor & Jimit Trivedi gathered at the grandiose to join the celebration. Amitabh Bachchan was curious about his character, Dattacharya since he is 102 years old! Mr Bachchan said, “Initially in the older times the movie was used to be shot on a film reel and hence it was called the film industry. Today everything has turned digital and I wonder why we still address it as film industry.” Rishi Kapoor speaking about his initial journey as a child artiste from the film Shree 420, said, “I had to give a shot and it was raining that day. It was difficult for crew to prepare for the shot.
