Producer Jaswinder Singh Rana( who has been a well known distributer) and director Sanjay Sharma have completed a 22-day shooting stint for Dashmesh Pictures’ BLANKET recently in Mandeshwar and Omkareshwar locales and in and around Indore. The film has been written by Yusuf Khan.Music: Rajesh Sharma who has recorded two songs in the voices of Palak Muchhal and Javed Ali. The next shooting stint of ten days will be held in Mumbai locales from mid-October onwards. The film has newcomers in the leading roles.

MAATR DIRECTOR ASHTAR SAYED’S NEXT IS A PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER
Maatr director Ashtar Sayed‘s next is a psychological thriller. Psychological mind games and genre which is not been explored in the Indian film Industry. Post Maatr, Ashtar is keen to explore this genre and is in talks for lead artists. Maatr was a brain child of his Producer Michael Pelico and he had written the story in Indian context, he was very sure that he wanted the film in Hindi for Indian audiences but he had no clue on how Indian censors function when he decided to produce the film. Bhoomi, Mom and Maatr after a hiatus are all about rape and revenge. Says Ashrat “When I see Maatr being talked in the same breath as the other two it becomes important to bring forth the fact that Maatr was released with 62 cuts killing its prospects totally. The same film received standing ovation from audiences when we screened it in Santa Monica without any cuts.”Bhoomi & Mom had the same topic and it was brought on screen in different vision by the directors. What’s the difference though, Ashtar Sayed said “We all have our way of storytelling and I had shot the film keeping the narrative in mind but Indian Censor board gave us 62 cuts. The film post the cut was not my film at all, I could not relate to the film or what was left of it.

The film is about 5 friends who struggle to find place to play football in Mumbai and hence the whole team learnt how to play football. Vishal who loves to get into the skin of the character is not a professional football player and hence he wanted to take professional football training before he starts shooting. Little did he know that the production already hired a football coach for Vishal and other team members, and that coach is none other than the coach of Mumbai FC team.” I am not a football player but when I was offered this film, I loved the story and decided to take it. But there are lots of scenes in the film where I will be seen playing football, hence I thought why not learn a new sport. It will not only help me in the film but will be fun as well. Then one day I got a call from the productions and they informed me that they have spoken to Mumbai FC coach and he obiliged to teach football to the whole team.” Says Vishal. Vijay Sharma, an author, poet, screenplay writer, actor and director, has recently directed a film called Andh: Let’s Play Blind. The film is adapted from his own novel titled Let’s Play Blind; the novel has a sequel too.Vijay Sharma is a CA by profession. But such was his passion for acting and love towards the craft; he ended up doing an acting course at Barry John Acting Studio in New Delhi. And later, he decided to write the story and script. Mumbai based AZURE Entertainment Pvt. Limited and Warner Bros. India today announced a strategic collaboration to jointly invest in and produce an Indian remake of “Infernal Affairs”. Filmmaker Howard Rosemeyer is recreating the iconic Rafi chartbuster song ” Jia Ho Jia Kuch Bol Do”, which featured Dev Anand and Asha Parekh from the film Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai. The new version of the song with snatches of Rafi’s voice is composed by Nisschal Zaveri and sung by Jyotika Tangri. “During the shoot, everyone was humming the song because the title sounds similar to the song. So I approached the music company, with the idea of adapting the original song into a party track,” informed Howard. The song was picturised on Kalki Koechlin and Richa Chadha. “It’s in sync with the film’s vibe and reflects the growing camaraderie between the two Jias though Kalki and Richa are not completely in character. They will be dancing in slow motion and the viewer will want to get up and join them.”The film is shot is Sweden. Jia Aur Jia is about Richa and Kalki signing up for a holiday embarking a life changing journey, from sharing a hotel room to trailer the 2 girls become best friends and share the problems and face the darkest secrets together. South Bengaluru woke up to a rude start on on 28th Sept, 2017, as it had witnessed a gruesome accident at South End Circle in the wee hours. Grandson of famous industrialist, Adikeshavulu, Mr. Vishnu, is allegedly involved in the accident. The accident involved 2 cars, and Vishnu was driving one of them. The shooting of Kayamkulam Kochunni, directed by Rosshan Andrrews, has started rolling from 1st Oct, 2017. Nivin Pauly plays the title character in the film. *First things first please describe your illustrious filmic journey from your debut film Raja Kumarudu to your latest release Spyder.

*Regarding this I still have a mixed feeling. On one hand it was fulfilling, satisfying albeit exciting, enriching, enthralling, enlightening, exhausting and to some extent even adventurous. And I was also happy, although reluctantly, doing a few Telugu films as a child artiste too. On the other hand it was also depressing, what with people around you trying to pull you down for no reasons whatsoever. In brief I would also add that like any other actor or for that matter a star even I too had my fair share of the ups & downs, the highs & lows including the trials & tribulations in my, as you said, illustrious filmic journey.

*Ok! So moving on, does being the son of a legendary & veteran Telugu actor Krishna proved to be a bane or a boon of your filmic career?

*I would certainly not like to put it that way. As being a star – actor’s son only helped me as far as my debut film Raja Kumarudu was concerned, like as my launch pad it did help me. But then after that I was on my own. As like all my contemporary actors all over I also strongly believe that only talent can succeed. Like for me, I would also say that there was a huge pressure on me. My 1st debut film Raja Kumarudu definitely was a big hit. But it was because of my father’s fans supporting it that I got this opening, but my 2nd, 3rd & 4th film just fell flat on its face and I had to once again prove myself with the other subsequent films of mine. So you see it all boils down to your talent.

*What are your expectations from your latest release Spyder and what is Spyder all about with respect to your role in it?

*This is the 1st time ever that I have worked simultaneously in a Telugu – Tamil bilingual namely Spyder. It has been excellently directed by A R Murgadoss. I wouldn’t say that it’s a typical James Bond kind of spy thriller. But, it has definitely got its elements. It is a typical A R Murugadoss kind of film, where the audiences would be sitting on the edge of their seat. In fact Spyder for me was the most thrilling, the most amazing, the most mind blowing, the most super spydi I mean the most super speedy & obviously the most difficult experience of my Telugu film career. And the most difficult part was shooting for the Tamil version and also shooting simultaneously for the Telugu version of Spyder. As this was the 1st ever time that I was shooting for a Tamil film and only I know what I went through to achieve that perfection & and that finesse that I have always succeeded in displaying so often in all my Telugu films. Incidentally speaking in Spyder I have enacted the role of an Intelligence Bureau officer. Spyder has been produced by Tagore Madhu & N V Prasad besides the film has been made on a lavish budget of approximately 120 crores. while Spyder is actually based on bio -terrorism and it also features actor – filmmaker S J Suryah as the antagonist.

Rakul Preet Singh plays the leading lady. That apart Spyder is a Harris Jayraj musical soiree. And it has been distributed especially in Karnataka by Goldie films. That apart Spyder also happens to be the 1st time ever collaboration of Super director A R Murugadoss & obviously Superstar Mahesh Babu.

*Like other South Indian actors Rajnikant, Kaml Haasan, Mamooty, Mohanlal, Venkatesh, Dhanush etc why are you so reluctant to step into the Bollywoodian arena?

*Here I would like to squash all the rumors once & for all that I have no intention whatsover to mark my entry in the Bollywoodian arena. I have enough of work in Telugu films to even last me for a life time. I will never ever do a Bollywood film, no matter how tempting the offer is.

*But you have given a very contradictory version regarding this particular aspect recently to the electronic media. How come?

*Yes Sir!!! I agree that I did say that I am indeed ready to star in a Bollywood film, but it all depends on the project & the director and when somebody approaches me with an exciting idea I may accept the offer. But on second thoughts I also wish to clarify that I gave that version to the electronic media on the spur of the moment to put an end to all the speculations right there & then and yes I also stand by my version given to the print media today. As now I really do not wish to get into the Bollywoodian rat race. I am considered as the Prince of Telugu films so why should I prefer be a beggar in Bollywood films.

*Next question. How come Prince Mahesh Babu was never a part of the rumor mills as far as any kind of controversies are concerned including the romantic ones?

*The answer to that is very simple. I have always believed in leading a hassle free & straight forward life. And the only time I fell in love with a girl (Read actress Namrata Shirodkar) I instantly got married and she will be my wife forever at least till death do us apart. (Laughs).

*How was the experience of working with your co – star Rakul Preet Singh & director A R Murgadoss?

*It has been a very good experience of working with Rakul Preet Singh. She has proved to be an amazing & a lovely person as a co – star. In fact in all the promotional activity all over we have been talking only about her and how good she is as an actress. Thanks Rakul for being my co – star. That apart I feel at a loss for words to describe the dedication & the perfection of A R Murgadoss Sir.

*It seems you are very much against the idea of remakes of the original language films?

*Yes it is very much true that I have never liked the idea of remaking a film. No sir I am definitely not into remakes. I never liked that idea and my dream was always that a Telugu film should be made in Telugu and then everybody should talk about it. S. S. Rajamouli achieved my dream, so I know that you can dream. That’s how I am and now with Spyder, I am coming closer to my dream.

*Name 5 Best favorite films of your Telugu film career.

*The 5 most favorite films of my Telugu film career are Srimanthudu, Okkadu, Pokiri, Dookudu and now of course Spyder. But I also really enjoyed doing all my Telugu films.

*As a parting shot do you want to say a last few words for your global fans especially the Bangalorean ones?

*Yes of course I hereby take this opportunity to profusely thank all the organizations who have bestowed on me the National & the International awards galore. And last but not the least I wish to thank all my beloved global fans who have always encouraged me to give off my best and a special thanks to my Southern fans who have bestowed on me the title of “Prince”. And I shall also remain forever indebted to all my Bengaluru fans who have always welcomed me with open arms and given me all their love whenever I have come here to promote my films. The shooting of actor & director Samuthirakani’s Akasha Mittayi is currently underway in Kochi. The film is a remake of the director’s Tamil film, Appa. Jayaram Ravi plays the lead in the Malayalam version. It was Tamil actor Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, who was announced as the heroine. She played the lead in last year’s Kasaba. However, 2 days after the shooting, Varalaxmi opted out of the film, saying “can’t work with male chauvinists & manner less prods” in her twitter post. Now, director Samuthirakani has told an online portal that Varalaxmi decided to opt out as she wasn’t happy with the hotel accommodation provided to her. This became an argument and the actress decided not to do the film. Ineya has replaced Varalaxmi in Akasha Mittayi.

Local comedy, I Can Speak debuted on top of South Korean Box – Office turnstiles after a Thurs release. The indie picture earned $5.18 million from 727,000 admissions over 4 days, and accounted for 46% of the weekend Box – Office turnstiles. Produced by Myung Films, the Kim Hyun – Seok film sees the story of an elderly woman who befriends a junior civil servant as she files complaints with the local Government. Showbox’s Memoir Of A Murderer slipped to 2nd. It earned $1.6 million from 215,00 admissions between Fri & Sun for $17.7 million after 3 weekends on release. Sony’s Baby Driver dropped to 3rd, earning $1.16 million for a total of $5.21 million after 2 weekends. Despite a drop of 53%, The Hitman’s Bodyguard jumped to 4th from the previous week’s 5th, as American Made suffered a steeper 81% drop. The Hitman’s Bodyguard earned $429,000 for a total of $11.7 million after 4 weekends on release. American Made earned $301,000 for a cumulative of $2.71 million after 2 weekends. The Invisible Guest & The Lost City Of Z debuted on Thurs and landed in 6th & 7th, respectively. The Invisible Guest earned $329,000 over 4 days, while The Lost City Of Z earned $248,000.

WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES WINS SLOWEST WEEKEND

In the quietest weekend at the China Box -Office this year, War For The Planet Of The Apes held on to the #1 spot. It headed a chart on which foreign films took the top places & Chinese titles entered the list with previews of pictures that will enliven next week’s National Day holiday period. War For The Planet Of The Apes added $18.6 million in its 2nd frame, down from its $60 million opening. After 10 days on release, it has a cumulative score of $99.5 million, according to data from Ent Group. IMAX reports that the film scored $1.6 million from 435 screens, lifting its IMAX cumulative in China to $7.3 million. New release The Hitman’s Bodyguard rustled up $13.7 million. That was only good enough for 2nd place, despite having slightly more screenings than War For The Planet Of The Apes on 2 of its 3 1st days. Cumulative takings for the top 10 films was just $48 million. Earlier, the slowest weekend had been 7th Apr, 2017 to 9th Apr, 2017 when Ghost In The Shell briefly claimed the top spot. Spanish thriller Contratiempo climbed from 4th place last week to 3rd. Its score also improved from $4.95 million to $6.38 million. In 4th place was Spider – Man: Homecoming, which took $5.65 million. After 17 days on release, it has a $115 million cumulative. New release kids title Thomas And Friends: The Great Race took 5th spot. Playing 10,000 screenings on Fri and expanding to 15,000 on Sat & Sun, it took $1.69 million.
