film kya fark padata hay
Film- Kya fark padta hai

A Non-Resident Indian named Navvy Jassal makes his debut as an actor with a film titled ‘Kya Farak Padta Hai’ which is due for release very soon. Actually speaking Navvy Jassal happens to be an actor from Austria. Having lived in Austria since the last 26 years his heart & soul is still rooted in India. Originally hailing from Punjab it was his childhood dream to be an actor. Navy aka Naresh Jassal’s debut making film ‘Kya Farak Padta Hai’ is in fact his own real life journey from Punjab to Austria depicting all the pitfalls, the side effects, the trials & tribulations including all the ups & downs of belonging to the tribe of the scheduled caste.

To begin with enlist your background in a nutshell.

Actually speaking I was born in a small village of Kariha located in the district of Navanshaher in Punjab. Since childhood I have been victimised & harassed a lot for belonging to a scheduled caste tribe. My upcoming debut making film ‘Kya Farak Padta Hai’ is in reality my real life journey from Punjab to Austria. During this journey I had to face all the pitfalls, the side effects, the trials & tribulations including all the ups & downs of belonging to the tribe of the scheduled caste.

What is the significance of the title of the film ‘Kya Farak Padta Hai’?

From the point of view of the people belonging to the higher caste, the title of my upcoming film ‘Kya Farak Padta Hai’, means that even if we look down upon and mete out bad treatment to the down trodden lower caste people what difference does it make? Really ‘Kya Farak Padta Hai’ as they are meant & deserved to be treated like that. While from our point of view it means that let the higher caste people treat us the way they want us to treat, ‘Kya Farak Padta Hai’. But then through our film we have tried to show that this attitudinal caste system differences should change drastically on behalf of both the parties and that too with immediate effect. This attitude no longer exists in metro cities but th saddest part is that it is still prevalent in smaller cities & especially in villages.

Fine so tell us more about the storyline of your upcoming film ‘Kya Farak Padta Hai’.

Through our film ‘Kya Farak Padta Hai’ we are trying to awaken the people. It is time to drive away the evils of caste system and differential casteism is one of them. Besides we have also tried to stress on the fact that their should be complete transparency in a couple’s relationship and a slightest mistake leads to a lot of mistrust & misunderstanding between them. That apart we have also tried to depict the side effects of drugs and all these are the resultant effects of my own real life experiences. In short ‘Kya Farak Padta Hai’, is in fact a take on my own real life journey from Punjab to Austria. I have enacted the role of a person who is constantly insulted & humiliated because he belongs to a lower caste. At last getting fed up and in sheer disgust he leaves his village and sets off for Austria. At this point the film also points out that most of the youths undertake the overseas journey illegally and with thinking & consulting anyone and thereby becomes a victim of human trafficking and sometimes even lose their lives. After reaching Austria I complete my academic qualification and become a Professor in college who ultimately falls in love with one of his colleague. But here too he becomes a victim of caste system and is thrown out of the college. Later on he joins politics and forms his own party named OMP and was in power for 5 years whence he fights tooth & nail to eradicate the evils of caste system. And for further developments of the film ‘Kya Farak Padta Hai’ you will have to catch the film on the celluloid silver screen when it hits the marquee very soon.

As a parting shot give us some more details about the cast & the crew of ‘Kya Farak Padta Hai’.

‘Kya Farak Padta Hai’ has been produced by Charanjit Kaur & directed by Jitendra Jaiswal. Of course the film has been penned by me and backed by me from “The Beginning” to “The End”, while its melodious & mellifluous music, having 5 songs, has been composed by Sanjvee. And besides me the film also stars Pankaj Berry, Kalpana Shah, Jaiseline Sharma et al.

Modi praises Nitish, targets Lalu and Congress

July 25, 2015 by Nasheman

Modi referred to Nitish Kumar seven times in his speech, praising him for his various requests and suggestions related to the development of Bihar

Modi-Nitish-

Patna: In a clear bid to divide the anti-BJP opposition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday lauded Chief Minister Nitish Kumar but targeted his allies RJD leader Lalu Prasad and the Congress on the issue of Bihar’s development.

Modi, who arrived here earlier in the day, referred to Nitish Kumar seven times in his speech here, praising him for his various requests and suggestions related to the development of Bihar.

Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal-United, Lalu Prasad’s Rashtriya Janata Dal, the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party have formed a grand alliance to defeat the BJP-led coalition in the upcoming Bihar assembly election.

Modi, who shared the stage with Nitish Kumar at the Veterinary College ground, admitted that he agreed with the chief minister that railway projects for Bihar started when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the prime minister were delayed after the Congress took power in 2004.

But Modi made no effort to spare Lalu Prasad and the earlier Congress-led UPA government – the RJD leader was its railway minister – for allegedly blocking and delaying some projects meant for Bihar.

Modi did not take Lalu Prasad’s name but made references to the railway minister then. But he attacked the Congress by name.

Modi made the comments after flagging off the Daniyawa-Biharsharif railway line and the Patna-Mumbai railway line here.

Modi also blamed the Congress-led UPA government for failing to complete the Barauni fertilizer factory and other projects in Bihar.

Modi was seen regularly interacting with Nitish Kumar during the inauguration and launch of different projects here and at the foundation day function of the ICAR here.

At another venue, Modi said development was the answer to all the plaguing the country ills including poverty, illiteracy and unemployment.

“There is no alternative to development. Development is the answer for all problems,” Modi said.

On a day-long visit to Bihar, Modi was received by Governor K.N. Tripathi and Nitish Kumar when he flew in here.

The prime minister said his government’s agenda was to develop eastern India including Bihar. “Unless Bihar is developed, the country cannot be developed.

“I will announce a special package for Bihar at the right time, not now,” he added.

Obama in Kenya: Africa is on the move

July 25, 2015 by Nasheman

US president says Africa is “one of fastest growing regions in world” as he co-hosts entrepreneurship summit in Nairobi.

US President Barack Obama has praised Africa for its economic advancements, calling it “one of the fastest growing regions in the world”, while co-hosting a summit on global entrepreneurship with his Kenyan counterpart, Uhuru Kenyatta, in Nairobi.

Obama declared on Saturday that “Africa is on the move”, in his first official engagement since arriving in the Kenyan capital a day earlier.

“People are being lifted out of poverty, incomes are up, the middle class is growing and young people like you are harnessing technology to change the way Africa is doing business,” he told the summit.

Sharing the stage with Obama, Kenyatta also voiced optimism towards a brighter future for the continent.

“The narrative of African despair is false, and indeed was never true,” Kenyatta said. “Let them know that Africa is open and ready for business.”

The summit is aimed at promoting businesses that promise to lift many more Africans out of poverty and help insulate societies against radicalisation.

As Obama arrived in Kenya, the birthplace of his father, throngs of Kenyans lined the route of his convoy, cheering, whistling and waving as the motorcade passed by and a helicopter circled overhead.

Al Jazeera’s Andrew Simmons, reporting from Nairobi, said there was “overwhelming euphoria” when Obama arrived, adding that the US president is the “most popular” politician in Kenya.

The visit is Obama’s first as president, and is also the first time a sitting US president will visit Ethiopia and the African Union’s headquarters in Addis Ababa.

The first African-American president of the US is expected to address regional security issues and trade, and also touch on matters relating to democracy, poverty, and human rights in the region.

A previous planned trip to Kenya was delayed by Kenyatta’s indictment for war crimes by the International Criminal Court.

Those charges were suspended last year – in part, prosecutors say, because the Kenyan government thwarted the investigation.

Obama’s trip has also come under fire by rights groups, and more than 50 African and global human rights organisations have called on him to publicly meet democracy activists on the ground.

They voiced concerns about “grave and worsening” rights challenges in both Kenya and Ethiopia.

The charges against Kenyatta, and the fact that Ethiopia’s government won 100 percent of parliamentary seats in a recent disputed election, has raised questions about whether Obama should have made the trip at all.

In Addis Ababa, Obama is expected to address leaders of the African Union.

He spent Friday evening reuniting with about three dozens of Kenyan family members.

Obama has said he had “never truly known” his father, who was born in Kenya’s far west, in Kogelo village near the shores of Lake Victoria.

An economist, he walked out when Obama was just two and died in a car crash in Nairobi in 1982, aged 46.

Obama has previously made personal visits to Kogelo, the home of many of his Kenyan relatives, most recently in 2006.

Turkey says parts of Syria to become ‘safe zones’

Foreign minister says areas cleared of fighters belonging to ISIL can become haven for Syrians displaced by war.

Turkey says areas cleared of ISIL fighters in Syria could be used as safe zones for displaced Syrians [Reuters]

by Al Jazeera

Turkey has said areas in north Syria cleared of fighters belonging to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group will become safe zones.

Saturday’s announcement made by Mevlut Cavusoglu, the Turkish foreign minister, came after Ankara announced it had begun bombing ISIL positions in Syria and and Kurdish fighters’ camps in northern Iraq.

“When areas in northern Syria are cleared of the (ISIL) threat, the safe zones will be formed naturally,” Cavusoglu told a news conference.

“We have always defended safe zones and no-fly zones in Syria. People who have been displaced can be placed in those safe zones.”

The conflict in Syria has displaced more than 10 million people, with many residing in makeshift camps near the Turkish border. These areas have been targeted a number of times by Syrian military bombardment. The Turkish government has repeatedly called for the setting-up of safe zones to protect these people.

Several Turkish media outlets had earlier reported the government was considering setting up a 33km-wide safe zone inside Syria, stretching from the outskirts of Kurdish-held Kobane to areas controlled by pro-Western rebel groups.

Its purpose would be to strengthen the rebels’ hand against ISIL and prevent the Kurdish fighters from capturing new border areas.

Third wave of attacks

Turkish forces on Saturday unleashed a third wave of air strikes and ground attacks against the two targeted factions.

“We have given instructions for a third series of strikes in Syria and Iraq. Air and ground operations are under way,” Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told reporters in Ankara, adding that 590 suspected ISIL and PKK members were arrested in raids across Turkey.

The military action by Ankara was seen as a potential game changer in the war against ISIL.

Turkey earlier this week approved the full use of its airbases by the US-led coalition against ISIL, according to the foreign ministry, marking a major change in its policy following a suicide bomb attack in Suruc , bordering Syria.

The offensive against the PKK came after the Kurdish group claimed attacks on security forces in the last days.

A spokesman in Iraq for the PKK, which has been fighting Turkey for autonomy since 1984 and is considered a terrorist organization by Ankara and its allies, said the strikes likely spelled the end of the peace process.

“Turkey has basically ended the cease-fire,” Zagros Hiwa told the AP news agency.

Delhi court dismisses allegations against Sreesanth, two others

July 25, 2015 by Nasheman

Sreesanth

New Delhi: A Delhi court on Saturday discharged three accused cricketers, including S. Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan.
All the 36 accused persons including former India capped cricketer S Sreesanth were discharged in the IPL-6 spot fixing case by a Delhi court.

Other two prominent IPL players -Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan who were on bail were also discharged in the case in which six persons including underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his aide Chhota Shakeel were declared proclaimed offenders.

All are discharged (from the case), Additional Sessions Judge Neena Bansal Krishna said while pronouncing the order. The case was today put for order on framing of charges against the 36 accused persons who were on bail.

Sreesanth, 32, broke down on hearing the order while the other accused including the players present in the courtroom started hugging each other.

Sreesanth said “at last justice has been done to him, adding, God willing, I will be able to return to cricket. I have no regrets, no complaints.

The court had on May 23 reserved for today the order on framing of charges in the case. Special Cell of Delhi Police had named 42 accused in the case in its charge sheet out of whom six are absconding.

Police had told the court that properties of Dawood and Shakeel in Mumbai have already been attached in connection with the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case and that they have not visited India since 1993.

Police had informed the court that Dawood had properties in his name at Dongri in Mumbai whereas Shakeel owned properties in Nagpada there.

The court had earlier issued non-bailable warrants against Dawood and Shakeel, Pakistan-based Javed Chutani, Salman alias Master and Ehteysham, who all are considered to be Dawood’s associates.

The police had filed a 6,000-page charge sheet against various accused in the case. It had also filed supplementary charge sheet later on. The court had granted bail to Sreesanth, Chavan and other accused for lack of evidence against them under the provisions of stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

Other accused, including Chandila, were also granted bail later on by the court. The police, in its charge sheet, had claimed that Dawood and Shakeel, who have been controlling the fixing and betting market in cricket in India, were behind IPL spot-fixing.

Karnataka: Angry Siddaramaiah flings copy of budget into well of Assembly

July 25, 2015 by Nasheman

Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru: Ruling Congress and BJP members were locked in a verbal clash in Karnataka Assembly today over alleged cut in funding of centrally-sponsored schemes, with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, angry with disruptions, flinging a copy of the budget into the well of the House.

Amidst chaos and charges, the Assembly passed demands for grants by various departments and the money Bill by a voice vote.

The two parties sparred during the Chief Minister’s reply to the discussion as he accused the NDA government of reducing funding for centrally-sponsored schemes.

Angered by BJP’s repeated disruption and allegations of giving wrong information, Siddaramaih threw a copy of budget into the well of the House, which led to heated arguments between both sides.

Following this, the BJP members entered into the well of the House shouting slogans against the Congress government and the Chief Minister.

As repeated attempts by Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa to convince BJP members to allow Chief Minister to continue with the reply failed, he put the demands and money Bill to vote, and amidst protest and sloganeering they were passed by a voice vote.

In his reply, Siddaramaiah claimed his government is transparent and corruption free.

“Ours is a corruption free, pro-people government. There have been no allegations of corruption against our government in the last two years,” he said.

He also measured transparency standard of his government by pointing out that it has handed over six cases till date to CBI while the previous BJP government had not handed over even a single case.

CBSE’s new dress code: Kerala nun denied from giving AIPMT with veil, cross

July 25, 2015 by Nasheman

AIPMT

Thiruvananthapuram: A Keralite nun was today denied permission to take the the All India Pre Medical Entrance Test (AIPMT) here after she refused to remove her veil and Holy cross as required under the CBSE’s new dress code.

Sister Saiba, who was to take the test at the Jawahar central school here this morning, said she sought permission to write the examination with her veil and cross.

However, the school Principal told her about the guidelines issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
She then requested for a separate room to write the examination without the veil and cross, but it was not accepted by the school authorities, she told mediapersons.

“I requested that I may be given a separate room where I will remove the veil and cross and write the test, but that was not allowed,” she said.

The Principal told her that she was also a Christian and understood her plight, but as per CBSE guidelines, veil and Holy cross cannot be permitted inside the examination hall.

Many students were seen removing head scarfs, ear ringsand all other articles banned before entering the hall at various examination centres in the state. They were allowed inside only after body frisking.

The Supreme Court had yesterday refused to entertain plea of an Islamic organisation that Muslim girl applicants be allowed to wear ‘hijab’ (scarf), a customary religious dress, while appearing for the AIPMT.

“Faith is something different from wearing some kind of cloth,” a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice H L Dattu stated, adding the AIPMT was being held again at its direction and some “reasonable restrictions” were needed.

Kerala High Court had earlier granted conditional permission to two Muslim girls to appear for the test wearing hijab.
In the backdrop of large scale irregularities in the AIPMT held in May this year, the apex court had directed CBSE to conduct a second test following which CBSE imposed a strict dress code, banning jeweleries, hair pins, head scarf or veils, shoes, watches and all electronic devices.

Reacting to the incident, Syro Malabar Church spokesperson Father Paul Thelekkat, said it was “unfortunate” that the nun was not permitted to write the test.

“The Catholic church does not consider veil as the most important religious symbol of the Catholic faith. At the same time, we do not subscribe to the view of the Supreme court Chief Justice that 3-4 hours without veil does not make any difference. It does make and it is up to the citizen to take the decision”, he said here.

Impotency, love affairs behind farmer suicides, says Modi’s Agriculture Minister

July 25, 2015 by Nasheman

Radha-Mohan-Singh

New Delhi: Dowry, love affairs and impotency were among the reasons for the deaths of over 1,400 farmers in India this year, Narendra Modi-led Union government’s Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said in a written reply in Rajya Sabha on Friday.

“According to the National Crime Records Bureau, causes of (farmer) suicides include family problems, illness, drugs…dowry, love affairs and impotency,” he told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply to a question as to what caused the death of so many farmers in the country.

The minister’s reply, however, did not rule out debt as one of the reasons. The remarks on suicide by over 1,400 farmers in the last one year, by the government’s own admission, are bound to provide fresh fodder to a belligerent opposition, which has been targeting the Narendra Modi government on the controversial land bill, dubbed as “anti-farmer and anti-poor”.

A total of 5,650 farmers committed suicide in 2014, with the maximum deaths reported from Maharashtra, Telangana and Chhattisgarh, official data revealed.

According to “Accidental Deaths and Suicides in India 2014” report released by the bureau, of the 5,650 farmers who committed suicide, 5,178 were men and 472 were women. “The highest incidents of 2,568 suicides of farmers were in Maharashtra (45.5%), followed by 898 suicides in Telangana (15.9%) and 826 in Madhya Pradesh (14.6%),” the data revealed.

July 25, 2015 by Shaheen Raaj

film1.jpg

Producer: Anne Carrey, Lain Canning & Emile Sherman
Director: Bill Condon
Star Cast: Ian Mckellen, Laura Linney, Milo Parker, Hattie Morahan, Hiroyuki Sanada, Patrick Kennedy, Roger Allam, Phil Davis, Frances De La Tour, Colin Starkey, Nicholas Rowe, Francis Barber & John Sessions.
Genre: Suspense
Verdict: Good

Bill Condon of Gods & Monsters and the 2 final instalments of the Twilight Sagas fame, has made as artistic film in Mr. Holmes. He has touched upon the core truth of how Sherlock Holmes remained a brilliant sleuth even at the age of 93, barring the fact that age had really started catching him off guard.

Plot: Long retired and near the end of his life, Sherlock Holmes (Ian McKellen) grapples with an unreliable memory and must rely on his housekeeper’s son Roger (Miko Parker) as he revisits the still unsolved case that led to his retirement.

Aces: Bill Condon’s skilful presentation of the last days of Sherlock Holmes topped with extracting excellent performances mainly from Ian Mckellen as Sherlock Holmes & Milo Parker as his sidekick Roger.

Minuses: The snail’s pace of the movie really gets on your nerves.

Last Word: Catch it before it vanishes from the silver screen.
