July 8, 2015 by Nasheman

rss iftar

New Delhi: The hardline Rashtriya Swamsevak Sangh (RSS) ‘Muslim wing’ the ‘Muslim Rashtriya Manch’ held an iftar gathering Saturday evening in the parliament annexe building.

The RSS has a barely-known wing called Muslim Rashtriya Manch. Its chief patron, Indresh Kumar, said at the gathering that people of one faith should respect other religions and not criticise them.

Kumar quoted from the Quran, the holy book of Muslims, that mutual peace and harmony was the message of god.

Ambassadors of a few countries, including Egypt, and representatives of various Muslim countries attended the event, the organisers said. Union minister Harsh Vardhan was also present.

Now, Hema Malini holds girl’s father responsible for fatal car mishap

July 8, 2015 by Nasheman

Sonam

New Delhi: A week after her speeding luxury car crashed into a Maruti Alto killing a four-year-old girl and critically injuring her parents in Dausa, the BJP MP Hema Malini has indirectly blamed the father of the girl for the accident.

The actor-turned-politician took to Twitter and expressed how sorry she was about the death of a four-year-old girl.

But, she also tweeted saying that it could have been averted if the girl’s father “followed traffic rules”. “How I wish the girl’s father had followed the traffic rules – thn this accident could have been averted & the lil one’s life safe!” said the veteran actress on Twitter.

The accident happened last week when the Mercedes she was travelling in (according to a few eye-witnesses she was driving) rammed into another car in Dausa.

A four-year-old girl was killed in the accident and five others were injured. Hema was immediately taken to a hospital, but the family of the deceased alleged that the little girl could have been saved had she been taken to the hospital along with the BJP MP.

Hema’s driver was arrested, but was released on bail within hours. Hema also tweeted that her “heart goes out to the child who unnecessarily lost her life”. She thanked all her well wishers and said that her recovery would not have been so quick without their support. The MP had undergone a surgery and was also treated for a minor fracture on her nose.

Vyapam scam: MBBS student Namrata’s death was homicide, reveals Autopsy

July 8, 2015 by Nasheman

Namrata Damor

Ujjain: MBBS student Namrata Damor, whose body was found near rail tracks in Ujjain district in 2012 after her name figured in the Vyapam scam, had died a “homicidal” death caused by “violent asphyxia as a result of smothering” and nail injuries were found on her face.

As Madhya Pradesh Police decided to reopen the case of her death, the doctors who conducted the post-mortem said they never mentioned in their report that it was a case of suicide.

Earlier police had registered a “murder” case in this regard and later termed the incident as an “accident” and closed the case, a police official said.

The post-mortem report, a copy of which is with PTI, describes Namrata’s cause of death, as “asphyxia (violent asphyxia)…as a result of smothering.”

The findings were suggestive of the death being “homicidal”, as per the autopsy report issued on January 9, 2012.

The post mortem report was signed by Dr B B Purohit (Forensic Medicine), Dr O P Gupta (Medical Officer) and Dr Anita Joshi (Gynaecologist).

Dr Purohit told PTI that “the panel of doctors that conducted the post-mortem has never mentioned in their short PM report as well as the detailed PM report that it was a case of suicide.”

“We also found nail injuries at three places on her face,” he said.

When the body was brought for postmortem, at that time it was unidentified, Dr Purohit said.

The report also advised for “histopathological examinations to rule out any sexual intercourse prior to death.”

The autopsy was conducted at district hospital in Ujjain.

Namrata’s body was found near railway tracks under Kaytha police station limits in Ujjain.

Her case came back to focus after the sudden death of TV journalist Akshay Singh in Jhabua district’s Meghnagar town recently after he interviewed Namrata’s father.

Ujjain District’s Superintendent of Police Manohar Singh Varma said, “We have ordered a review of the death of Namrata Damor. Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP), Tarana, R K Sharma will reopen the case.”

Namrata was studying at the Government MGM Medical College in Indore and it was suspected that she took admission with the help of the racket involved in the high-profile Vyapam scam that is said to have claimed 45 lives so far.

Shiv Sena wants Muslims to realise the necessity of family planning

July 7, 2015 by Nasheman

uddhav thackeray

Mumbai: In controversial remarks, the Shiv Sena said the increasing population of Muslims in the country will cause language and geographical imbalance and asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure that Muslims accept the necessity of family planning.

The Sena said that increasing the Hindu population to counter Muslims is not the solution and that the “Sangh” should pressurise the government to strictly impose family planning on all religions.

“From 2001-2011, Muslim population increased by around 24 per cent and must have increased by another 5-10 percent till 2015. The increasing population will cause language, geographical and sentimental imbalance and will create cracks in the unity of the country,” the Sena said in an edit in mouthpiece Saamana.

“The Prime Minister should clearly tell Muslims to obey the law of the land and accept the necessity of family planning. The PM promised to address their issues even if they knock his doors midnight. But, will Muslims similarly run to help the country?” it questioned.

“More than Lokpal, the country needs a Common Civil Code in place,” it said.

“Whoever wants to try Ghar Wapsi can do so. We do not oppose it. But this is not the solution to stop Islamic onslaught on the country. Pakistan has an Islamic government. Even countries like Iraq have an Islamic government. But in those countries, human lives there do not have much dignity.

On the contrary, countries like Turkmenistan, that have adopted modern technology are in the race with Europe and America. Modi government should knock the doors of Muslims and apprise them with this fact,” the Sena said.

Siddaramaiah puts onus on Governor to remove Justice Bhaskar Rao

July 7, 2015 by Nasheman

KARNATAKA JOINT SESSION

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday distanced himself from the efforts being made by the Opposition for removal of Lokayukta Justice Y Bhaskar Rao by saying that Governor Vajubhai Vala should take a decision on the matter.

The governor is understood to be in consultation with legal experts on the growing demand for Justice Rao’s removal.

Vala has reportedly sought a detailed report from the State government on the recent developments in the anti-corruption watchdog, including charges against Justice Rao’s son, Ashwin.

An attempt by the Opposition parties, the BJP and the JD(S), to move a motion in both Houses of the Legislature seeking removal of the Lokayukta, is unlikely to materialise.

100 signatures

Advocate General K Ravivarma Kumar has reportedly told the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting attended by leaders of all political parties that signatures of minimum 100 MLAs and 50 MLCs are required to submit a memorandum seeking to move the motion, as per the Judges (Inquiry) Act, 1968.

The memorandum submitted by the Opposition parties last week to the presiding officers of the Assembly and the Council had signatures of 57 MLAs and 33 MLCs.

The BAC meeting was convened at Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi to take a decision on the memorandum. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar were among the leaders who attended the meeting.

The presiding officers have reserved their ruling. The need for amending the Karnataka Lokayukta Act, 1984, to enable the State government to intervene and take appropriate steps to protect the dignity of the institution was also discussed at the BAC meeting.

Turkish flight lands at IGI after bomb scare

July 7, 2015 by Nasheman

Flight TK0065

New Delhi: A Turkish Airlines aircraft made an emergency landing at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport here following a bomb scare. However, no explosives were found onboard after a thorough search.

An official said that flight TK0065 was on its way from Bangkok to Istanbul with 134 passengers on board when someone saw a bomb threat written on a windowpane of the bathroom.

“Turkish Airlines flight TK0065 from Bangkok to Istanbul (an A-330 aircraft, carrying 134 passengers) has been diverted to Delhi following a possible bomb threat on board,” Ali Gence, senior vice president, media relations, Turkish Airlines, said in a statement.

“The plane has already successfully landed in Delhi and all our passengers and cabin crew have been evacuated safely and taken to the terminal building,” he said.

Gence further said necessary safety checks were taking place.

“Furthermore, precautions have been taken for towing the aircraft in line with standard safety procedures. This is currently in progress. After completing all necessary safety checks, the plane will continue its journey to Bangkok,” Gence said.

Airport sources earlier told IANS that there were 148 passengers on the flight.

“The crew saw a message about ‘bomb in cargo hold’ written on a bathroom mirror. The pilot contacted the Nagpur Air Traffic Control, who guided them to the Delhi ATC,” airport sources said.

Sources said the plane made the emergency landing at around 1.40 p.m. at IGI soon after directions from the Delhi ATC.

“The flight was made to land at an isolation parking. All passengers were evacuated safely from the flight and emergency declared at the airport,” a police official said.

All security agencies, including the National Security Guards (NSG) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) were placed on high alert.

A bomb disposal squad scanned the plane along with a dog squad. Senior officials of CISF and NSG officials held a meeting after the bomb scare.

Sadananda Gowda calls Vyapam scam a ‘silly issue’; says, no need for Modi to answer

July 7, 2015 by Nasheman

D V Sadananda Gowda

New Delhi: Union Law Minister DV Sadananda Gowda on Tuesday apparently termed Vyapam scam a “silly issue” and slammed the Opposition parties for make it an issue and demanding answer from the Prime Minister.

The shocking statement was given by Mr Gowda in response to the Opposition’s continuous demand that Mr Modi should break his silence on India’s worst ever recruitment scam, which has not only claimed the dozens of lives but also murdered the dreams of a complete generation of youth.

“The state has initiated probe. The deaths are a matter of concern, but law and order is state subject. See, the Prime Minister need not answer on silly issues,” Mr Gowda said.

“The concerned ministers and party president have answered. For each silly issue asking the Prime Minister to answer is not fair,” he added.

The central government had on Monday rejected calls for a CBI probe into this mega scam involving several prominent BJP politicians, bureaucrats and other influential persons.

The Congress, the AAP and the CPI-M, meanwhile, stepped up attacks on the central and Madhya Pradesh governments over the rising number of deaths in the recruitment scandal.

They demanded a CBI probe, but union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said there was no need for a CBI inquiry as the Special Investigation Team probing the scam reported to the Madhya Pradesh High Court, and not the state government.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Tuesday agreed to hear on July 9 a petition filed by senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh seeking a court-monitored CBI probe into Madhya Pradesh’s multi-crore Vyapam scam, in which more than two dozen accused and witnesses have died under mysterious circumstances.

Singh had earlier alleged complicity of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the MPPEB scam.

More than 40 people associated with the admission and recruitment racket in Vyapam have died since 2013 — either in mysterious circumstances or have committed suicide.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan seeks CBI probe into Vyapam scam

July 7, 2015 by Nasheman

Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Bhopal: Bowing to public outcry, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said he will request the high court to order a CBI probe into the Vyapam case, including the large number of deaths of people allegedly linked to the scam.

Chouhan, who has been under opposition attack over the rising death toll, said people wanted to know the truth and it had become imperative that the case be probed by CBI now to put to rest all doubts.

The opposition has alleged that nearly 45 people having links with the Vyapam admission and recruitment scam have died since the investigation into the scandal began in July 2013. At least five people, including a journalist covering the scam, have died under mysterious circumstances in last one week.

Addressing a press conference, Chouhan rejected the Congress charge of his involvement in the scam, terming it as “baseless”.

“Honouring public sentiments, I will request the high court to order a CBI probe,” he said, noting that democracy is run on public acceptability. “The functioning of the government should be beyond any doubt,” he said.

Referring to the recent deaths and the public outcry for a thorough probe, Chouhan said many unfortunate events have occurred of late, including the journalist’s death, and that people have a right to know the truth.

Contending that it was not within his powers to order a CBI probe, the chief minister said the developments in the case demanded fair answers.

“I thought about the matter the whole night…The questions which have been raised need answers. It has become necessary now that CBI investigates the case,” he said.

Asked if he wanted a CBI probe into these unnatural deaths as well, he said the agency should probe all aspects of the case.

On Congress’ allegation about his involvement, he said all charges the opposition party had levelled against him in the case so far had been found to be wrong.

Chouhan, however, refrained from making any comment on Union Minister and former state Chief Minister Uma Bharti’s statement that she too felt “scared” over the deaths.

“She is like my elder sister and a very respected leader. I respect her a lot. I made no comment against her even when she was not in BJP,” he said.
